Extremely professional. Made suggestion to power wash after pumping to make it very clean. Able to keep truck on the street even though septic tank was 110 feet away.

I made an appointment with Atlas Pumping to have my septic tank pumped. The office was polite and I was able to make an appointment for service that met my schedule. The service men showed up on time and immediately went to work, answering my questions and pointing out relevant things along the way. The work was performed efficiently and professionally. I was happy with the price and the transaction was completed onsite with a credit card. I would not hesitate to contact Atlas Pumping for the provision of this service in the future.

More than the pumping alone, I really needed to understand my existing system. I called Atlas after hours and they talked with me for about a half hour answering the many questions I had. They were very professional and knowledgeable over the phone and I was able to schedule service for the next day. George called me an hour before the scheduled time to let me know he could meet me at the house earlier, which was great for me. George was very professional in person. He was able to quickly determine what kind of system I had and he took a great deal of time to make sure I understood the many components of the system. He made quick work of the pumping/filter cleaning and identified areas which needed preventative maintenance. His attentiveness and detailed explanation of his assessment gave me confidence and trust in Atlas. I highly recommend Atlas and George.

There have been 3 times (2005, fall of 2013, spring of 2014) where Atlas failed on their septic installations and repairs at our home. See previous review. This review is for the 3rd time in the spring of 2014. Our property was for sale and under contract (again…..) spring 2014. Septic system needed to be pumped out and inspected. Buyers contacted Rio Grande Septic to do both. System functionality passed but the tank is located in a graveled parking area and come to find out not traffic rated to allow vehicles to be driven or parked over it so it failed inspection. Atlas Pumping did the system installation 6 months earlier and did not mention this whatsoever. The system was completely dug up and we would have done whatever it took to make it right at that time had I known. The Rio Grande Septic inspector, Shawn, had the NMED State inspector, Ann, come look at it as a second set of eyes. She agreed given the tank location it needed to be traffic rated or and quot;just put a planter over the areaand quot;. Ahhh no, not gonna put a planter in the middle of the parking area. She by the way had signed off on final inspection last fall with no mention of it needing to be traffic rated at that time either. The buyers were steadfast in wanting full use of the parking area so we needed a solution. Atlas was contacted and said they were familiar with constructing a concrete pad (called a traffic lid) over the tank so we contracted with them to do the work. This was their opportunity to man up and right a wrong (again). Swing and a miss! They came out and constructed a rebar reinforced concrete pad but turns out it was too small and not built to code. It failed re-inspection. I did a simple google web search. The NM Liquid Waste code 20.7.3.501.F clearly states and quot;Wherever vehicular traffic is anticipated to cross over the liquid waste treatment unit, pump station or pump chamber, the unit shall be designed by a professional engineer to withstand the anticipated traffic loading.and quot; When confronted with the issue Atlas, instead of tearing their mistake out and re-building it to code are washing their hands of the situation. My real estate agent did negotiate no charge for the work. Bottom line: Don't do business with Atlas or their shell company Duke City Septic (they filed the permit under this name instead of their own even though all of the equipment used to do the installation and pumping said Atlas Pumping) Atlas will give lip service but they don't stand by their work and you'll never know if their work is built to code. We've contracted with Rio Grande Septic to solve the traffic rating issue and I'll write a review for them once the work is completed and successfully passes all inspections.

There have been 3 times (2005, fall of 2013, spring of 2014) where Atlas failed on their septic installations & repairs at our home. This review is for the first 2 times. We bought the home in 2005 and during the septic system transfer process I discovered the system was not to code due to a previous owner building a casita (in-laws quarters) on the property and tying into the existing septic system. The tank was under-sized for 2 homes. Atlas was a well known name and contracted to provide a solution. The solution was to install a 2nd piggyback tank along side of the original tank and tie both into a common drain field. The work was completed as planned in the fall of 2005. Flash-forward to Oct 2013 - our property was for sale and under contract to a well qualified buyer. Septic system inspection & pump-out needed to be done. Atlas performed the work and it failed inspection - both tanks had tree roots in them and the original tank's concrete was crumbling at the rear inspection lid. The solution was to remove the original tank which had failed and move the piggy back tank over into it's place. The piggy back tank was large enough by code for the whole system. Atlas performed the tank swap. During the work we discovered that the tree root issues in both tanks were caused by poor workmanship by Atlas in 2005. Inlet pipes into the piggy back tank had not been sealed nor plugged properly allowing roots to grow into the tank. The NMED code is clear that all tank inlets & outlets must be watertight. When the casita was disconnected from the original tank in 2005 and re-routed to the piggyback tank that 4" abandoned sewer line to the original tank was never capped off. This uncapped 4" line was in essence a "large straw" right into the original tank and was now packed solid with tree roots. Repairs were completed, permits had been filed & the NMED State inspector, Ann, was present and signed off on the final inspection. Unfortunately for us the buyers were spooked by the tree root issues at the inspection and backed out of the deal before we unearthed the tanks and found the true root cause (pun intended). I contacted the owner JR to negotiate a reduced price due to the issues resulting from their poor workmanship in 2005. The conversation was professional. He talked at length about how he was trying to improve the business's reputation since buying it from his father-in-law 2006. Summary of the conversation outcome was he could afford a $400 price break, if I wanted more I could sue the previous owner and he would put a lien on the property if I didn't pay. I had contacted a lawyer and found out small claims court was backed up 12-18 months. The business is incorporated so I would go after the business not the previous owner. We were moving out of state and was pretty much left with accept the $400 (off a $3000 bill) or nothing. I paid the bill not wanting a lien on the property while trying to sell it. Think the story ends here? Not quite?see the next review.

We have used Atlas for 20 years to pump our septic field. We had a field failure. The owner came out the same day as the problem became apparent. He determined that the field (installed in 1994 had been inadequate for a three bedroom house and had stopped working and needed to be replaced. We had built an adobe wall over the tank and that had made the tank out of code if we wanted to sell the house., Since we were doing the work we went ahead with the whole job.
Atlas took care of all the paper work. Geegee is a dream she helped me get the documents we needed. It too about a week to get the permits. It took two days to do the job. Their team was skilled and professional. Ous system is n.ow upgraded and working well. They used heavy equipment and respected our property and watering system.
They know what they are doing The process started with a handshake and was followed up with a readable clear contract,
We could not be happier with the work

Our renter called that the sewer smelled and I called Atlas Pumping early Thursday morning to schedule for the septic tank to be pumped. Tony promptly answered the call and scheduled the service between 9-10am that day without delay. I got a call around 9:15 from the driver to get directions to the home and septic tank. I described what needed to be done and they got it done - loved the prompt response and fast service

We hired Atlas to do a septic inspection. I should have
known their business practice from first meeting. They did show up early to the
inspection, however they did not
inform anyone that they where early and proceeded to open the gate and let
themselves in to start the inspection with nobody present. The original
inspector from Atlas said that the tank look good and functioned properly. They
did have concern about the distance to a well that was close by and needed
another employee from Atlas to verify the distance to the well. He informed me
that GG from their office would contact me and would set a new appointment up
to get that done. Instead without anybody present and without notifying anyone
the OWNER of the company proceeded to go thru a SHUT gate and said that he had
preformed 4 hours of digging and investigation. His conclusion was that the
tank was bad and needed a new tank and extensive repairs. Upset that they did
not notify us that they where preforming that work or the cost, we decided to
get a second opinion. The new company that came out did the same inspection.
Not only did they do a full inspection they also verified to us that no digging
had taken place in the area that we charged for from Atlas. The new company did
minor repairs to our tank and the system is working properly. Knowing these
facts I called Atlas to discuss the four hours I was charged for where the work
was clearly not done. The OWNER called me back and I explained that I was
willing to pay for the inspection because we did hire them and they did come
out. I did however feel that I should not be responsible for the hours of work
I was charged for that may or may not have taken place. Due to the fact that
nobody was informed they where going to be there to preform this work, no
estimate of cost was given and they trespassed on to private property to do so.
After the OWNER was verbally abusive in a conversation that last 5 to 10
minutes he told me my only option was to pay it or he was going to put a lien
on the property. All in all if you want a company that comes on to your
property unannounced, will preform work that is unnecessary and then get
verbally abused by the OWNER then this is your company.

Called on the 21st for an appointment, which was scheduled for the following day between 9 and 10 am. At 9:15 on the 22nd, the driver called to say he would be at our home at 9:35 am. The driver, Larry, arrived on time, immediately set to work, pumped the tank and cleaned the filter and reinstalled the lids. He explained to me in detail the status of our system and how to check the filter if that was something I wanted to do periodically. Larry was friendly and professional and a great representative of the company. So Atlas was responsive, on time and did what they said they would do at a fair price - can't ask for more than that. Of note, I used another company several years ago, the driver had to borrow tools and I had to show him how to take the lid off, he ended up reinstalling the filter wrong and the system backed up and overflowed in a matter of months.

Went ok. Tried to upsell bacteria to help keep tank clean. Had to dig and expose lid myself as well as to cover it back up. There service was adequate but not outstanding.

My 27 year old septic tank had a 6and quot; opening. It was installed very deep - 3' below grade because that is where the plumbing from the house empties! In order to properly clean the septic tank and solve my smell and flushing issues, JR installed a 30 inch riser 3' deep with a concrete lid $125 a foot. The tank has a bulge on one side making the opening uneven so special caulk about 2 inches thick was used $35. The lid was made a bit thinner than normal to avoid collapsing the tank. An empty truck was then used to clean the tank. Larry initially identified the problem when he came to empty the tank. I was planning ahead for Balloon Fiesta company. I had the septic opening dug out and the stovepipe hat like device removed for an additional $50. since I didn't want to pay $60 an hour to Atlas. Jorge brought a 24and quot; riser that was too small on a Friday so on Saturday, the owner JR brought and installed the 30and quot; riser. Larry came back that same day with an empty truck and cleaned the tank out using his truck and my water hose. These folks are efficient and know their business.
Amazing how much better the toilets flush. They also asked me to use CCL once a month. I had occasionally used one thing or another from Lowe's. The Atlas price was $33, the Amazon price $45 plus shipping if you pay shipping from Amazon. I discussed at length with Tony that it was illogical to charge for 3 lids ($125 a foot) when I only needed one. He just listened and cashed my check. It is OK.
Atlas provided excellent service, they are quite knowledgeable, very patient and all are professional. They even helped me figure out how to find my second leach field...... a whole other story. I would recommend them because they solved a septic issue I had tolerated for years.

The job went as promised, on time and cost as estimated. I might also add that JR and I agreed on the cost with a handshake
and that was good enough. I'd like to commend JR and Atlas for living up to their word in doing the work as promised.

We were having plumbing issues and the plumbers I spoke to preferred to have the septic ruled out as the culprit first. Atlas sent someone out as soon as I called. Paul pumped out the tank and upon inspection of the filter, determined that may have caused our issues as it was clogged. However, all of his work didn't resolve our plumbing problem and Paul recommended we have someone come out to clean the intake line. He suspected it had becomes clogged since the septic wasn't operating correctly.
