Called for repair of door. Tech arrived the next day at agreed time and replaced broken parts.

Just a pleasure to deal with. Knowledgeable and courteous. Had a 4pm appt and he called to let me know he was running a little late.

Mike was wonderful, and diagnosed my garage door problem immediately, and then fixed it VERY QUICKLY. Showed me what the issue was and how he fixed it -- no smoke & mirros. WHAT A NICE MAN !! He's coming back to fix a crack in two of the panels that I hadn't told him about in my initial service request, otherwise he would have had the part with him to fix the crack. I would DEFINITELY use him again, and will refer him to our HOA. He even gave me the 10% Angie's discount without my asking. BTW, I hate writing these reviews, but felt prompted to do so after his service call.

Came out for estimate. Showed up on time. Showed me what was wrong and what needed to be done and gave me an estimate. Made appointment for actual repair and once again, showed up on time for appointment. Repaired door and showed me what was done.

I could open my garage doors with the one wired in the garage and the one in my automobile. None of my remote openers worked. I replaced my car and deactivated the opener in the old car. I made an appointment with Mike to come and check all my openers. He came on time. After checking each one, one of the openers needed a new battery, one needed to be replaced. Also the opener on the outside of the garage needed to be replaced. He performed the work promptly. He is friendly and professional. His price was very fair and reasonable. I would definitely use his services again.

They did the job and cleaned up

Very well. The overall "tune-up" was completed and then he looked at our remotes and keypad and got them working.

When I called Mike Jackson he was in the middle of a job but responded to me within 30 minutes, very prompt. I made an appointment for the next day and he showed up on time. He knew immediately what was wrong with my garage door so he replaced the spring mechanism, reinstalled the motor and drive shaft securely and within a couple of hours my door was as good as new. He is very thorough and cleaned up afterwards. Would definately recommend Mike!!

Mike arrived early for scheduled appointment. He replaced two springs as planned but then discovered the trolley had striped threads. As luck would have it he had this part on his truck and replaced it a minimal cost.

I was experiencing some difficulty with my garage door opening and closing and took advantage of Angie's List Big deal to have A1 come out and do a garage door tune-up. Mike Jackson showed up on time, tightened the spring on my garage door and lubricated the rollers. He was able to answer all my questions concerning my garage door. I was sufficiently pleased with him that I had him come out on 1/19/2012 and replace my garage door opener with on that had a higher horsepower motor for $390.55.

Called A-1 on a Saturday and he returned my call an hour later. He came out on Monday to replace the motor, then again the next day with the bottom rubber seal.

I called Mike to fix my garage door because he had the best ratings on Angie's List with the greatest number of customers in my local area. I left him a voice-mail and he called me back within a few hours, making an appointment with me to come over at 5:00 PM the next day. He arrived right on time, and I showed him the mess I had left for him to repair. After assessing the damage, he felt he could salvage the bottom panel of the door (a $300 replacement item). This required prying the metal end-clamp piece loose from the panel (it had been affixed with hot glue), restoring it to its correct position so it could do its job (which was holding the layers of the door panel together), and then installing a new hinge. After that, Mike was able to get the cable back on the spool and re-tensioned so quickly that I totally missed it. I think I must have blinked or something. Just like that, and the garage door was working again. Mike then proceeded to lubricate everything and adjusted the positioning of the pulley guide rails to the point where the door's operation was smooth and almost silent. All this took maybe half an hour. It is an awesome experience to have a guy over to do a job who really KNOWS what he is doing. Mike is that guy. I have had several other people in the past come out to service the same garage door and/or opener, and there is simply no comparison. Mike is THE BEST. Don't call anybody else.

I had used this service in the past to have some maintenance done on the garage doors, which are really old, and I keep trying to get another year out of them. About 8 months ago, I called and he came right out and oiled everything, made the doors move smoothly again, and replaced an electronic remote for us. He did a great job at a great price and was very pleasant and professional. I called again when one of out doors got bent pretty badly because one of us had hit the opener and the door was latched at the time. Being a very old system it did not shut itself off and just pulled until it bent the top of the garage door til I could turn it off manually. The very nice owner called me back promptly and came and fixed the door. when we can afford a replacement I will probably use him again.

It was terrific! The technician made the repairs without any issues.

One of my garage doors has been making a lot of noise. Yesterday I sent an email to Mike at A-1 based on good reviews on Angie's list, requesting an appointment for him to look at my doors. I live in Placitas, so sometimes it takes a few days before contractors will be able to arrange their schedules to get here. Within a couple of hours of my email, Mike called and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. Mike arrived on time, assessed both doors, and recommended replacing the (20-year-old) rollers on one of them. He did that in a short amount of time. He said the other door is fine, but I might consider replacing the rollers sometime in the future, if it starts making more noise. He also lubricated both doors, and showed me how to do it. I am happy with the great service at a reasonable price. Mike knew that I found him on Angie's list, and his invoice reflected the 10% discount he offers without me even requesting it. I will definitely call Mike at A-1 any time I have an issue with my garage doors in the future.

A spring broke on my garage door. It was inconvenient, since it prevented me from getting my car out of the garage to go to work. I contacted Mike Jackson (owner, A1 Garage Doors) and he arrived at my house very quickly (30 minutes or so) and fixed the spring so that I could go to work with only 2 hours lost from my day. I have recommended him to other people. He is fast to respond and the price seems reasonable for the speed of the service. This is the second repair that Mike has done for me and both repairs have lasted.

While Mike was working on my garage opener, he learned I was a children's writer. So, here is my story about my garage door and Mike: Once upon a time, there was a garage service man named Mike. I asked him to help me out with my garage door. Mike showed up right on time. I watched him install my garage door opener (I love watching installations to see how it all works!) and he answered any questions I had about the install. He neatly secured the sensor wires coming from the sides of the door to the unit. He lubed up the rails and wheels on the garage door track. He then checked the unit for proper operation and adjusted it so it works perfectly. He also cleaned up well and hauled all trash away with him. In my opinion, that is a mark of a true professional. Mike, I really appreciate your attention to detail. Thanks. I had noticed that the garage door seal was worn and split. Mike agreed to come back on Thursday and replace that for me as well. So again, on Thursday, Mike showed up on time and quickly replaced the seal on the door. So, now me and my garage door are living happily ever after. If there is a time when that changes.....I'll be calling Mike. The end.

Performed repair on one door opener and did a good job. I would give him an A on that one. On the other garage door opener. He failed to recognize that the springs were the wrong size for the garage door. He did some tune up work that made the motor run more quietly, but within one week of the sale of our home the new owners had trouble with the door opener and ended up replacing the it.

They did a good job. They were quick, reliable, professional, and really good people.

I emailed Mike on Friday night after my garage door would not shut and there was obviously a problem. Saturday morning Mike called me and said he could be a my property within 2 hrs to see what the problem was. Seriously, that is amazing customer service!! On a Saturday......what other contractor would do this??? Mike is very friendly and very knowledgable. He explained to me I had to replace my garage motor. He was in and out and about an hour. They showed up at the appointed time and carefully reviewed the garage door openers. They made some adjustments, but basically said they were in excellent condition. The proprietor was very professional, showed up on time, communicated very will and did his job quickly and cleanly. I would call him again if I had problems with my openers.
