This deck repair of boards ,etc was done in July 2014 and my invoice price was less than 1900.00..There were no complaints at the time and the job was completed in the specified block of time while the customer was at work and I showed up when I was supposed to.... The customer said she was happy at the time and no issues surfaced after the deck repair was done. It is now a year and 5 months later since the work was done and a review is written a year and 5 months later

Customer was very hard to schedule due to their busy schedule and unavailability and large amount of traveling and lack of responsiveness to emails/phone calls.., Unable to leave voice mails on customer's cell and when scheduled to speak at a specified time , customer was not available (didn't ans phone) ...Scheduled to review add'l work at a specified time in March. ....I was there...but building concierge would not let me in , as babysitter /nanny was not aware or told I was coming...Waited thru various attempts by concierge to call customer...Previously at time of above phone messages tried to schedule a visit in January while in their area for another customer, but emails and calls unanswered . Maintained emails from customer and forwarded to customer to support my various attempts to schedule contracted work for several months.......(time lag was initially due to the estimate that was a homeowners claim that had to be worked thru neigboar's ins) Very nice customer and when did previous work , they were very happy...

I had town inspector come and drill jim he handeled the inspector very professionally.i would use jims handyman service again.

There was a legitimate delay with this job...we were supposed to deal with the owners of the property, not the [member name removed]..the owner approved the job but didn't respond to how jims handyman would get paid...no response to emails. the [member name removed] stepped in with a solution, but after time went by. the job then got done.

So far so good.
Description of Work: Met with Jim and Caren for the first time today. We scheduled some of the work to be started two weeks from now. They were both very easy to talk to, helpful with suggestions and understanding of the situation that I am dealing with (elderly aunt, old house, multiple projects). I'm hoping that the work goes well because they seem like good people to work with.

Description of Work: Hello, I don't remember the exact price but they did a very nice job installing a new garage door opener for us. They also put in a storm door. It looks nice and does the job but I do wish that it opened all the way out. Now it opens about half way. They have done many jobs for us in the past and we generally like their work. Diana & Bob.

Jim was very responsive and professional. Everything was accomplished and we now have a great little working dishwasher!
Description of Work: We had an older kitchen with no dishwasher, Jim took out one of the cabinet columns to make room for a dishwasher. We needed carpentry work done, some plumbing and hook up the electrical to the dishwasher.

We extended our existing french drain in October, which involved tearing out a section of floor tile in the basement, installing a floor drain, lifting a toilet, and punching holes in two walls of a bathroom. We called several handymen for quotes on replacing the tile, re-installing the toilet and patching the drywall, as well as scraping/priming/painting a 10-12' metal strip under the roofline of the house. Jim and Caren were responsive and knowledgeable, and their estimate was by far the most reasonable. We set a date - but then had to postpone the work after the freak October snowstorm left us without power for a week. We rescheduled shortly thereafter, and the work was completed as promised. They made sure that the tiles were done right, that the grout matched our existing grout, and the toilet worked as it should after being re-installed. They were also great about cleanup afterwards. Jim and Caren - and Rich - were a pleasure to work with, and we are most happy with the results!

Jim and Karen came to give an estimate and on a designated day came to complete the job. The job was done correctly and neatly. What I most liked was that they always responded to calls in a timely fashion and always came at the designated time. They were a very responsible, friendly team. These are most often unusual traits.
Description of Work: Replaced old wood lattice under a porch with new vinyl lattice to keep animals out.

Description of Work: I emailed Jim and the next day got a call back. Jim and Karen ( I Believe this is her name) came out for a estimate for some work to be done. Gave a more then fair estimate but due to some reason on my behalf the job was not able to start. No fault for Jim he was very professional and fair would have liked to have him do the work.

As you can tell, Jim did a lot of work in my apartment. He and Caren really helped make an old apartment more livable. I was very happy with the work they did, and the price was very reasonable given the amount of work done. The price includes both materials, that Jim and Caren purchased, as well as labor. The best part is that Jim and Caren are really nice people. I absolutely recommend them.
Description of Work: Jim did the following for me: Removed old bathroom sink, vanity, lights, mirrors, and accessories in two bathrooms. Installed pedestal sink and medicine cabinet in one bathroom and a sink with vanity (which required assembly) and new mirror in the other bathroom. Removed old and broken, rear entry toilet in one bathroom and replaced with a new rear entry toilet with power flush. In the other bathroom, he repaired the chain in the toilet flush. Put in sheet vinyl flooring in one bathroom. Re-wired both bathrooms which had loose hanging wires and put in new electrical boxes. Put in new vanity lights in both bathrooms.Removed old shower heads in both bathrooms and replaced with new hose type showerheads. Painted 2 bedrooms and painted both bathrooms. Installed drapery rods in three rooms.Installed cell shades in two bedrooms. Installed blinds in living room. Replaced light switch in bedroom closet and bathroom. Assembled 2 IKEA arm chairs. Tightened the closet rod in linen closet. Removed a shelf from W/D closet. Levelled the refrigerator. Glued in splinter in wooden closet door. Caulked both bathrooms in the tub area where needed and some gaps near the bedroom window.

Jim and his helper Karen have done both small and large jobs for me totaling over $2,000.00 dollars. They banter back and forth like an old married couple. The work has always been done with excellent quality. Yes, I would hire them again. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Remove 8' of plywood for full length view. Expose part of kitchen ceiling. Jack up beam that had dropped. Sister up 2x8x8 to old joist. (several) Put joist hangers for support. Re-patch kitchen ceiling and spackle. Close up floor with plywood. Added more bracing due to notching beams. Additional plywood cut and placed on floor. Added bracing over kitchen ceiling. Once we finished one spot another spot would need work. Jim did not cause this problem. Trimmed closet doors, added handles to bathroom cabinets, and added small amount of molding.

I have used him a couple of times, and he is good. He is a personable guy, and I like him. He seems to know what he is doing. He always responds on time when I call him up to do some work or even to give me an estimate. Everything went well. Had a leak in my attic as old homes can get and it ruined one of my rooms. He gave me a price and was right on. Came in did the work and some other odds and ends for the price given just on room. Great Job.
