We have not had a chance to go ahead because of the hurricane and everything. I'm not in a hurry; I'm trying to decide what I want. Everything was good; he's good, he's nice, and the price is reasonable. I am very pleased so far. He took a lot of time to explain how it would work and he also volunteered to go with me to shop for the materials and everything, which I appreciated very much. Everything was thorough. He was not in a hurry at all, spent a lot of time explaining and talking to me, making sure that he understands what I have in mind. I had a good experience.

From Start to Finish the project was seemless and as my pervious experiences with Elegant Home Improvement the process was completely painless. Even though the work was performed in the main living area they ensured that the kitchen and the dinning room table was protected. Elegant Home Improvement continues to be my contractor of choice...John is on speed dail, he is like a member of family.

I called John to inquire about getting an estimate. He said to email him the date and location details once they became available. I did so, and didn't get a reply. I then called to make sure he received my email. He said that he had, and confirmed the appointment time and location. He didn't show up, didn't call, and hasn't been back in touch since.

I had been looking for a contractor to do the work in my home for several months and had gotten several estimates. While John's estimate was not the least expensive, I got a good feeling immediately upon meeting John for the first time, and I was sure he was the contractor I wanted to work with. As soon as we came to terms, he was able fit me in between two larger jobs and start within a week. This was perfect, as I was anxious to have the work completed in time for family visiting for Thanksgiving. John was willing to stop by in the evenings to discuss the design and progress of the project, which was very helpful as I work fulltime during the day. John brought several options of materials for me too choose from. He suggested the addition of chair rail to add interest to the living/dining rooms, which turned out to be an inspired idea and makes a huge difference. When I had a paint crisis mid-project and needed to rethink the color of the interior of the shelves, he was patient, he offered suggestions, and ultimately I love the colors we came up with. His carpenters, Miguel and Alfredo were terrific. They were friendly, punctual, they worked efficiently, and they were very neat. Every day when they were done, they cleaned up all of the dropcloths, swept, and anything else they needed to. We had estimated the job would take about a week and a half. As soon as they had started I found out I needed to travel on business the following week. I was prepared to have a friend let them in while I was away... but to my surprise and pleasure, John and his team completed the job the day before I left. I am a first-time home renovator and found the entire idea of this project quite daunting. John really made this such a good experience, and that is worth every penny.

My son called Elegant Home Improvement toward the end of May 2012 after receiving estimates from two other contractors and spoke with John Kawczak, the owner, to come to our home to give us an estimate on the work required. John appeared on time, took meazurements of all that was needed, spoke in detail with us also giving us his views on the work required. His estimate arrived within a short period of time and work was scheduled for a start. He and his crew arrived on time daily and cleaned up before they departed. If time was of the essence, he and crew arrived earlier and left later to get the job done. John took us shopping for everything that we needed and I don't know what we would have done, if he wasn't beside us speaking to suppliers of specifics and our needs. Although our contract with John is still in the process of completion, John estimates the kitchen should be completed by early next week and I am thrilled with all the accomplishments I would like John to do more extensive work in our home after our contract is complete. He has grown to be part of our family and he deserves all the praise bestowed upon him.

They quoted us about $8000 worth of work and then possibly another quote for $3500, so we just have to decide on how much work we are getting done. They were very responsive, they responded quickly to the emails on whatever we needed. The gentleman that came to do the quote seemed knowledgeable. However, when I called them, they didn’t follow up, they gave us the quote but never got back, but I know that it is school time here; it is busy time of the year for them now, so I don’t really want to blame them for that. They are one of the two contractors that we are considering for the job.

I would like to hear from them. Update: 8/30/12 still haven't gotten a response for estimate.

John came to our house to look at our bathrooms in order to provide us with an estimate on the complete re-model of our two baths. We liked John instantly and would consider hiring him in the future. Unfortunately, we went with a different company.

Out of the 6 contractors we called, John was the quickest to respond. He was at our house the next day giving us an estimate and it was $300 lower than the comparative estimate. He was also available to start sooner than the other estimate (JMC) - a fact that quickly led us to pick them. We picked out up the tiles. He estimated the floorspace: 40 square feet, but pick up 50 to be safe. He used 40 square feet of tiles exactly. He also told us to use his card at Standard Tile. We saved 30% on the final purchase. Much better selection and price than Lowes or our local Tile store. When we had to push back a week because of scheduling problems, John was courteous and understanding (though I felt awful). The job went quickly and was done in 2 days, with the extra day just being for the tile glue to dry. And, in the end I could find no fault. The details were exact and beautiful and I marvel at how good it looks everytime I enter the room. I would recommend them to anyone.

Fixtures were installed with great precision. Everything was done in a timely manner. Work was done neatly and cleanup was very tidy. John was a lifesaver and really came through for this unconventional job. Highly recommended!

Rather than trust the repair to the board, I went to John on the recommendation of a close friend. John was very open, pleasant and professional. I was already sure of the extent of work necessary and John confirmed it. My concern was water in the wall, possibly damaging the installation and the possiblility of replacement. Within the week of our meeting, he and his men were here to start work. The job required removing the damaged portion of the wall (luckily the water did not damage the insulation) and replacing both the wall and part of my ceiling. This work was done in about a week's time and I can honestly say the place looks better than before the damage. John's men were hardworking, quiet and respectful of my property. Everything (furniture and rugs) was covered in tarps to minimize the dust and after they were done, everything was cleaned up. They replaced the wall and repainted, matching colors perfectly. There is a work ethic here that a job will be done as quickly as possible to minimize disrupting one's routine, but not at the expense of a quality job.

Having used Elegant Home Improvement in the past, I called on John to give me a new floor. He came over at a time of my convenience and after listening to want I was looking for, he took measurements, we discussed the type of tile that would be the best for a heavy traffic area and he recommended a tile store where I found the "perfect tile" and got a discount to boot. The work took about 3 days and as with his past work, everything was done quickly and precisely. He had to move my refrigerator into the living room but made sure it remained plugged in so there was no lost of food and at the end of the work, he vacuumed everything so that I had a new floor and clean rugs! I am definitely pleased with the new look!

Recently I used Elegant Home Improvement to redo my floor tiles and decided this time to refresh my walls. John came over with numerous color choices and we spent a fair amount of time discussing which colors were going to work best. He also added crown molding which has added a real sparkle to my place. As with the other jobs Elegant Home Improvement has done for me, the work was done quickly and after, everything was picked up. I am extremely happy with the work and the people at Elegant Home Improvement and love the new look!

The workers were professional and John was on site to check on the work throughout the entire process. Every day the crew cleaned the construction area to ensure that the incoveneince was minimal. The tile work is excellent! The entire process took about a week from start to finish and they took care of everything, from electrical to plumbing to the tile work. The entire process was very simple. It was a pleasure to have one person to deal with who took care of everything.John took the time to shop with us at preferred vendors to ensure that we have quaility merchandise, this was very helpful as being new to home improvements I would not know what would be the better brands.

The sunroom was gutted to the studs and rebuilt. The crew installed all new custom molding trim around the windows complete with window sills. The floor was titled and a new exterior door was installed as well as a new sliding door between the sun room and the dinning room. Again John took the time to shop with us for the tile and to pick-out the doors for the room and even assisted with paint color selection for the room. As expected the crew was neat and daily cleaned the job site as to minimize the inconvenience to the home. I can honestly say that they are unintrusive in the home.

From start to finish the work was done in a timely manner and cleanly. Every day the team cleaned the work site as not to leave a house a mess. The bathroom renovations was no longer than 5 days and 2 days to install the tile floor in the dinning room. I would high recommend this company. They took the time to help us shop for tiles and fixtures is was a stress free process from start to finish.
