RuDan Plumbing Sewer & Drain Cleaning

We had a problem with our toilette after a busy weekend and full house of guests. I called RudanPlumbing Monday morning about 8:15 am and left a message. They called back immediately and had a plumber here within the hour. I asked what I could expect to pay and it was spot on, in fact the plumber asked me to print out a coupon from Angies (one I didn't even know was there) so I paid a little less. Tim came and unclogged our toilette and made sure there were no damages or leaks. He was very courteous and took care in making sure there was no mess from his work. They get an A+ from me for being a contractor who is prompt, professional, neat and fair in pricing. I am very happy with their services and would most definitely use them again.

We called multiple companies to get an estimate for the work. Rui was by far the most responsive - though not the cheapest. On Saturday I called him to get the old faucet removed and the new one put in. He said he could do it on monday. Later that day he called to say that he could do it the same day - if we were home. Obviously, a more than welcome offer! Tim was home within the hour. He had a quick look, understood what the issues were going to be with removing the old faucet (it was stuck to the granite) and did it quickly. He put in the new faucet and cleaned up the place. He knew what he was doing and did it quickly. Very quick and professionally done. Will definitely use them for any future plumbing work.

I needed to replace the main water valve in my house. The current valve was really old, and likely to snap anytime. I called the company on Friday and left a voicemail. Rui called me back within the hour, and I was able to set up an appointment for the very next day (Saturday). Most plumbers I called were not able to accommodate such short-term requests. He gave me an estimate over the phone, and the price was very reasonable. They came on time on Saturday, and the job was done in about a half hour. The work done was clean, and they were very thorough about checking that the job was done right. They also honored the $25 coupon that I had from Angie's list. All in all, a great experience. I highly recommend their services, and plan to use them again.

This company is just fantastic. Tim came and he conquered. I have hired a half dozen plumbing companies (not to mention a small fortune in liquid drainer poured down the drain) to fix my ridiculous slow bathtub drain. Tim overhauled it and I will never have to deal with it again. Worth every. single. penny. Thank you Rudan.

They did a great job. Took good care to keep the area clean. Really appreciate the honesty and professionalism - they originally charged me for materials, and I said when they quoted me over the phone, materials are included in the price. They affirmed that it wasn't so I thought maybe I heard it wrong. But then they came back and apologized after checking that indeed materials are included based on the quote I received. I was definitely pleasantly surprised.

I haven't had to hire a professional tradesman in quite a while. Thought they were a bit pricey but considering the job was well done--you get what you pay for.

Much of the work was in response to the flood caused by Hurricane Irene. I truly don't think I could have managed without Rui Dantas, the owner of Rudan. He has been EXTREMELY helpful. I highly recommend RuDan Plumbing!

Rui was great. He arrived when he said he would (even in bad weather), explained the process, and helpfully answered all of my questions. He covered everything with dropcloths and cleaned up when he was done. Even where he had to remove a small section of wood encasing the cleanout, he did it so neatly and put it back, you can't tell it was ever removed. I would not have done it so neatly had I done it myself. He seemed straightforward about the odds of success and didn't overpromise anything. I would definitely recommend him and use him again in the future.

Service was prompt, courteous, professional and fast. If another plumbing problem should arise someday, RuDan will definitely be the first plumbers I will call. Excellent!

We are in the process of buying a house and wanted to have the main sewer line scoped during the home inspection. While this does not seem to be a big problem in New Jersey, it was definitely a problem in our last house in another state. So before buying this house we wanted to have an idea how the main sewer line looked. The technician arrived on time and was very courteous. He scoped the line for us and showed me how the line looked while the camera was still in it. We were pleased with the result and would call RuDan again if we had plumbing issues.

This project started when the powder room toilet started leaking into my basement. I called my old plumber (a different company) and they gave an estimate of about $1000 just to repair the old toilet, which was about 50 years old and well-worn.To install a new toilet, that other company wanted another $400-500. I thought this was too much money, so I decided to look for another plumber. Based on the excellent reviews for RuDan in Angie's list, I called them. Rui, the owner of RuDan, came over within a few hours and gave an estimate of $996 to remove the old toilet, repair the waste pipe, provide the new toilet and install it. This meant that for the same price that my old plumber wanted to repair the old fixture, I would get and have installed a whole new fixture. Removal of the old toilet meant I would need to re-tile, because the existing tile was done around the old toilet. Since the sink was also about 50 years old and the bathroom needed updating, I decided to renovate the the entire powder room. I told Rui I was going to tile the floor myself, something I had never done before, and I didn't know how long it would take me to do it. He said that was not a problem. He removed the old toilet and said to call him when the floor was done so he could install the new one. I offered to pay him part of the cost after he removed the old one, but he said it would be fine to pay him when the job was done. When the tiling was done, his employee, Tim, came and installed the new toilet. He also gave me an estimate for installation of the sink. Both Rui and Tim were extremely helpful and patient in answering my questions regarding my selection of the sink, since I was replacing a wall hung sink with a pedestal one in a tight area. Tim removed the old sink, and when I had finished repairing and painting the walls, he installed the new one. We have lived in our home for 27 years, and I have FINALLY found an A+ plumber! As a woman who is handy and wants to do as much of the non-plumbing work as possible myself, I particularly appreciated the respect and professionalism shown to me by both Rui and Tim. They did an excellent plumbing job at a reasonable price and I felt like we were a team on this renovation. They came on time and answered all my inquiries in a timely fashion.

Prompt response to my inquiry and easy to schedule. When I had to move my Friday appointment due to a conflict, they even offered to put me down for Saturday although not able to pinpoint a time. But I received a call in the rough ballpark I'd expected from Tim the technician and he was on his way. Pointed out my "clogged drains" were more of a user error and didn't charge me for those - just the hot water heater leak that he fixed with execellent copper configuration and welds. He even stuck around to clear a few aerators that got clogged when we turned the water back on - a result of stirring up the water in the pipes and we would have been stumped as to why some faucets "weren't working". A bit pricey but that's what I'd expect for most plumbing jobs and as long as it's professional / well done. Thanks RuDan!

My husband discovered that our utility sink in the basement was overflowing on Tuesday afternoon and by 8:30 the next morning, Rui was here to repair the problem. He was very professional and mindful of keeping the basement door closed so that our cat wouldn't go downstairs. He was thorough and efficient and was able to unclog the drain within the hour. I would definitely call Ru Dan again in the future!

I had a toilet that would not flush. I realized the chain was broken but I wasn't sure if there were any additional problems which would cause the toilet to malfunction. Given the minor fix and the speed in which the plumber was ble to repair it, I was a bit taken aback by the seemingly high price for a minor repair.

The company was very responsive even though it was a demanding time after a big rain storm. When I called they told me that they were very busy but they would try to send someone during the next 24 hours. They call me back notifying me that a person will be at my house around 12 noon. They arrived at noon and were very clear of the work that was needed to be done. they explained the situation, possible causes and results. Additionally they were very decent and honest on the price. They told me about the price of the job before starting it and they told me that I can use a coupon from Angies list website. I did not know about this coupon and they advised about it. At the end they charged me a little bit less of the estimate and applied the coupon on top of the cost. Very professional job, clean, fast and well explained. I definitely recommend and use this company for other plumbing jobs around the house.

The waste line in our basement caused the toilet to overflow several times. We called Rudan to figure out what was going on. They had to drop a camera down the line and determined there was clearly a block in the pipe. Rui showed us the view from the camera showing something was blocking the line. They determined the block was under our basement tiled floor in a specific area. The only choice was to rip up the concrete and replace the line. We scheduled it about 3 weeks later and they showed up promptly at 8AM. They prepped the area and taped down plastic sheets around the area that would be removed. They created a cocoon around the whole area to minimize any destruction of the surrounding areas. They had to saw cut a line down the concrete to ensure the jackhammering only affected the necessary areas. We were surprised at how neat the project was. The sheets contained all the debris and when they were done, you couldn't even tell that all that destruction took place. They were very neat and tried to keep the area as clean as possible. The dirt and concrete were laid out in our garage and they cleaned all that up. The cut was clean and as narrow as could be. Done in one day. We've used them many times before for smaller projects and they were always very honest and helpful. Their prices seem comparable to some other places we've used so I rated them a B. B+ if I could. Meaning the prices are fair but not the cheapest. We would use them again. They seem to be busy so it could take a day or two sometimes before they get back to you for a service call.

I called Rudan to ask for an opinion about some very expensive repair work proposed by a plumber I'll call Company X. We contacted Company X about a clogged sewer line. Company X initially proposed a very expensive job to excavate and repair the sewer line before inadvertently fixing the problem using hydraulics. They then reported a defect in the alignment between our sewer line and the main. Company X warned that the line could get clogged again if we did not correct the alignment which would have cost 50% more than the original work that was now no longer necessary. Rudan said that misalignment does not happen overnight and we could very well defer the repair until it gets clogged again at which point we should make sure to get 2-3 other estimates. In order to facilitate the estimates, he suggested that we request a recording of the inspection which could be reviewed by another plumber when soliciting another estimate without needing to redo the inspection. He agreed the estimate from Company X seemed high based on what I told him but did explain some of the complexity of street work which might involve police to redirect traffic, the need for bonding(?) the work, etc. Even though we did not retain his services, Rudan was quick to respond and willing to help us by providing practical advice on getting sewer repair work done in general. He also gave me cost estimates of the work we already had done (~$200 for the recorded camera inspection and ~$1200 for the hydraulic sewer cleaning).

Emergency call - workers at home in 90 minutes. Finished that afternoon. Awesome.
