This project started as a DIY for my husband and I, so we had already purchased most of the materials required for the job. Due to timing limitations, we decided to outsource the remainder of the job, post demolition. Bryan and his wife came to give us a quote; they wrote down all of the details and returned an estimate to me within a couple of days. While at my home, he made recommendations, including items that he thought should be replaced, and items that we'd have no problem doing on our own. Since the price was reasonable, and Bryan really seemed to know what he was doing, we quickly agreed to the contract and were on the schedule for less than a month later. All of the gentlemen who came to the house to perform the work were very courteous, respectful, and responsive to any comments I had. They arrived every morning sometime between 9:00 and 10:00 and stayed until anywhere from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. They were very respectful of my home and clearly made efforts to remain non-intrusive, which was much appreciated since I was working from home during those days. Throughout the process, Bryan really demonstrated dedication to completing the job correctly. For instance, during our research, my husband and I missed that the mastic used with Schluter Kerdi needed to be unmodified. Bryan recognized this error almost immediately and supplied unmodified mortar so that the job could continue. A second issue, also with the kerdi, was that the corner membrane didn't seem to be sticking to the wall correctly. Instead of just reapplying mortar and moving forward, Bryan took the time to call the manufacturer to make sure all of the proper steps were followed during the install. I don't believe every contractor would've taken those steps, and as a person who is unfamiliar with the whole remodeling process, I was really grateful we had chosen someone who sincerely cared about the quality of the final product. There were a few hiccups in terms of timing; the job took two more days than originally anticipated. But Bryan took the time to explain to me what was causing the delay and when he thought the job would be finished. I communicated with him almost daily (I'm a bit crazy like that), and he never seemed frustrated to hear from me. When it came to reconcile the estimate with the final costs, Bryan was really reasonable. Despite the extra time his staff spent on the project, he only charged me $106 over the estimate, which included supplies like the unmodified mortar previously mentions and spacers. I'm pretty positive that two days extra for two contractors to be at the house did not equate to that, so I was again grateful to have chosen Bryan for the job. Based on our experience with him, we will definitely be using him on future projects. He's already coming out in a few weeks for a quote on our second bathroom, which I'm sure will look just as great as the first! Thanks Bryan!!!
Description of Work: For shower enclosure, installed hardibacker, shower niche, waterproofed with Schluter Kerdi membrane, replaced faucet plumbing, tiled and grouted, installed shower fixtures and installed shower door.

I bought a house about a month ago and noticed that two steps were very loose, an issue that didn't show up in the inspection. This past Monday one of the steps really started to sink in. I have a clumsy, giant breed dog so having the steps repaired fast was a priority for me. After calling around for a couple days and having a carpenter from another business completely cancel an appointment, Bryan came to the rescue. He came out with his employees Thursday morning before I was scheduled to go into work and they were able to repair the steps for me in just an hour.

The problem was a bit complex. A leak was detected in the cold water supply line feeding a 2nd floor bathroom. The leak was seen in the basement, but the actual leak was under the 2nd floor bathroom vanity. In order to get at the leak itself, the large double vanity, it's granite counter top, a large mirror, and some heating vents had to be removed. Bryan came the next day and looked the whole thing over and helped me decide what the best course of action should be. He helped me remove the mirror and provided advice on the plumbing repairs. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and professional. With his help and advice I was able to get started.

Needed to have my 16' by 18' deck refurbished. New boards, steps and railings were installed along with vinyl lattice installed on the bottom (animal control, i.e. squirrels, rabbits, etc). Bryan and Josie were very professional throughout the entire process. A few of the delivered boards had defects and, once Bryan was notified, he made sure that replacement boards arrived and met our satisfaction. He also had to return, at my request, to put reinforcement screws in the lattice and did so willingly; no problems whatsoever. There was excellent communication from start to finish, their crew showed up on time in the morning and worked until the late afternoon. Bryan and Josie work as a team to ensure quality service. Good stuff!.

Since we became homeowners six years ago we have had occasion to use handyman services about five times. (I am not handy; my husband is not handy.) Our experiences have ranged from terrible (someone taking our money for needed building supplies and then disappearing) to just so-so (a lot of money for mediocre work). I am so glad we finally joined Angie's list and found Bryan's Handyman Services because this experience was absolutely fantastic. The three men that showed up were very polite and professional. I had been asked to send a list of the jobs we needed done inadvance, along with pictures. (The list included: replacing boards of picket fence that had rotted or fallen off, fixing two gates to our back yard that had settled in such a way that they would not latch shut; repairing and replacing several broken or rotten boards on the kids outdoor clubhouse; assembling a child's "grocery store", repairing a broken rocking horse, diagnosing the problem with and repairing a kitchen light that had stopped working, adjusting the screen door which had started rubbing against the front step, hanging a very heavy mirror?and on and on with various odd jobs.) The men arrived on time with everything they needed, they figured out how to fix every problem, and they never stopped working and they blew through our entire list of jobs in two and a half hours. (In the past, I felt that some people that we hired dragged their feet so that they could charge us for "a day." Also, in the past, I have been charged for the time that it takes to go out to purchase materials necessary for repairs. That did not happen this time.) My only regret is that I didn't call them sooner. These little things around my house--the mysterious problem with the light over the kitchen sink, the screen door that wouldn't quite close, missing/rotted pickets, etc. etc.--these were all things that had been bugging me for a long time. I had put off doing anything about it because of our bad, mediocre, or worse experiences in the past. But now, EVERYTHING is fixed! What a feeling! SO if you have a list of odd jobs my advice is: don't wait! The sooner you call the sooner you can enjoy having everything fixed. :)

I found Bryan on AngiesList and was impressed by all the good reviews. Bryan and Josie came over on a Saturday to check what needed to be done and on Monday they sent me an estimate. It was reasonable so I accepted it. Bryan bought all the material for me so I didnt have to worry about it. On the day of the service his team arrived at about 10 am and worked hard all day long. In the end they also cleaned everything really well. his team was nice and polite. All the service provided was very well done. After a couple weeks I thought that the new bib was leaking in the basement, so I called Bryan. He sent his guys over promptly to take a look at it. There was no leak, it was actually the hose that was not properly attached. The bottom line is that the experience was worry free, they handled everything, provide quality service, are responsive and nice. I already have a couple of other projects in mind and I will sure call Bryan again.

Bryan and Josie came out to give a quote for the pull down attic stairs. In the process Bryan mentioned a storm door due to the wear on our door frame. This was a project we were already thinking of doing, so we asked Bryan to include that in the quote. The team led by George arrived on schedule. George kept me informed throughout the project. The team was very professional and did a great job of cleaning up the mess when they were done. We would use them again for the next project as well as recommend them to neighbors and friends.

Once we were able to get scheduled, the job took only two full days which I felt was remarkable considering the amount of work to be done. I felt the price was very fair. The crew worked very hard and stayed late to complete as much as they could each day. They cleaned up the entire area when the job was done and they were very respectful of our home and property. I consider myself a "picky" person but found their work was of the highest quality. I've already lined up another "wish list" and plan to have Bryan back again as soon as he can.
Description of Work: Completely tore out and renovated my 6' x 6' enclosed entry foyer. Tore out old flooring, some walls, and ceiling. Also removed front door, frame and sill. Sheet rocked the 3 walls and sheet rocked one brick wall. Replaced the ceiling, installed new framed front door. Installed ceramic tile floor. Painted ceiling, walls, front door. The walls, ceiling and door were trimmed out and the trim painted. Also installed new ceiling light fixture.

Over the course of a few weeks, I changed requirements for the job a couple of times. Eventually, I had Bryan's company begin work on new framing for walls to enclose the back of a fireplace that extended into my garage. Meanwhile, after further negotiations with the buyer after signing an agreement of sale on my house, I changed the plan again. I had him take out the framing, remove the fireplace, and repair the walls that held the fireplace to like-new condition. Despite all of the changes, Bryan took everything in stride and completed the work when I needed it done. His folks did an outstanding, high quality job. I couldn't ask for a better experience with a home improvement company. I highly recommend Bryan's Handyman and Home Improvement Service!

Bryan's 2 workers showed up on time at 9:30 AM April 8th. After speaking to me they went to work first looking at the powder room and explaining exactly what they'd do. They job was completed and done well in about six hours. As they worked I asked them questions. They very courteously answered me and work continued. The job was inspected by Bryan Grubb. I was really happy with the results. The powder room looks better than new. They paid attention to all the details of this bathroom including putting a new toilet tissue dispenser and a new door transition from the room to the hallway, They're small details but there was no extra charge. Also they stayed within the agreed to price. I would not hesitate to have Bryan's company to do more work in the future.
Description of Work: The provider removed the toilet from the powder room and investigated the subfloor. They reinstalled the toilet complete with a new flange. While installing a new subfloor, they replaced the old linoleum floor with new stick on tiles. They then replaced the the cove moulding and also installed new moulding and shoe moulding.

Bryan came on short notice as we wanted to get our house listed for sale in less than a week. We discussed different ways to get things in order and he helped pick methods which would look best but not cost as much money. Prices were fair and the crew he sent were thorough and professional. Most of the repairs were minor, but on the biggest job which involved tearing out and replacing a large section of drywall, they taped and mudded well and didn't leave any seams. After the job, I was busy with house stuff and had delayed writing this review, until a day before we were set to go on the market, a decorative wooden beam fell out of my ceiling, damaging the living room walls in the process. In a panic I called Bryan again and within two business days he sent a crew over to fix it sight-unseen. Because of their punctuality we haven't lost too much time on the listing.

Last Fall, Bryan spent an hour assessing the various needs of our "new" 1904 house in Princeton. He was patient and professional, and had many good ideas. Several months later -- after we had decided how to proceed with various issues (windows/doors/insulation) -- he returned and spent another hour to confirm exactly what would be done. He submitted an estimate that was specific and professional. When we had his crew do the work on a two-day job, they were professional, polite, neat, and effective in doing their work. We were very impressed, and would plan to use them again.

As noted above, the services that Bryan and his crew provided were very timely, responsive and well done. They knew what needed to get done and did it in less than ideal weather conditions. Bryan clearly knows his business.
Description of Work: We needed quick service regarding repairs related to a basement window well and drainage. Given the snow melts and rains in early March the service was needed on a prompt basis. Bryan was very responsive and understood the need for prompt service. He had a crew out that day and they worked through the morning and into the afternoon in less than ideal weather conditions but did the work that needed to be done and did it timely and well. We would definitely recommend Bryan and his services.

My family and I were extremely satisfied with the services that we received from Bryan. We were helping my grandmother with the sale of her house, which can be a sensitive and stressful time. We were not given much notice about certain repairs that needed to be completed before settlement. I contacted Bryan about 4 weeks before settlement and asked if he was able to replace the ceiling in the garage. He and Josie came out with in a few days to give an estimate. The estimate was received with in the week and was extremely fair. I had contacted another contractor who quoted me around $2,800. Bryan was not only able to beat the price, but he was able to do it for more than 50% less than the quoted $2,800. His crew completed the project two weeks later in just a couple of days. They even came out on the weekend to finish up the job since a snow storm had delayed their work during the week. I would highly recommend Bryan for any home repairs. We are thankful for finding him!

This company did a fabulous job updating my master bath. Bryan's Handyman Service worked with me to get my bathroom ready for the holidays and did a super professional job! We had a plastic surround shower that was very small and it was replaced with a larger custom sized shower pan with ceramic tile. I am very pleased with the outcome and will surely use their services again.

Very dissatified with this provider. They gave a high estimate. Difficult to speak to on phone. I had questions and they only reponded via email.
Description of Work: Replace tile in laundry area.

Response from Bryan's Handyman & Home Improvement Service
Hello, You contacted me via phone on March 4th, I told you that unfortunately, you were not in our service area. You then told me that several other contractors gave you estimates that were very high. You asked me if I could give you an estimate anyway, so I asked that you email me some photos of your laundry room that you wanted tiled. Based on the photos that you sent me, the old vinyl flooring would have had to have been removed then the floor cleaned, the old cove base molding also removed. You stated that you wanted ceramic tiles on your laundry room floor as well as a tile base board border around the laundry room and also a transition meeting the flooring from the hallway. Based on your photos provided and the details of your project plus travel time to your area which is approximately 35 miles away, the $525 dollars in labor and $55 in material cost was a fair estimate. Furthermore , your conduct and tone of voice when you called and spoke to my assistant demanding to speak to me was not acceptable. You had no right to speak to her the way you did. I also called you back and left you a message after you spoke to my assistant, however you did not return my call. Bryan
