 + -1 moreOverall, it went very well. I believe that I got a fair price, a good product and good installation. I talked with sales reps of this company and the provider of my old door. The Hunter Door rep was more responsive and he would provide a door that was superior to the old one. It is a small, no-frills door, but I still got the 5% Angie's List member discount. I was able to schedule an appointment within a week and with my limited Saturday availability. The only negative was that the time was set for 8:30-9:00 a.m., but the worker called me at 7:30 a.m., that he was on his way, and he arrived at 8:05 a.m. - I had my alarm set for 8:00 and I was not happy to be awakened a 1/2 hour early on my day off. UPDATE: I opened the garage door and the handle fell out onto the concrete. I was quoted $115 over the phone to repair the handle. They were prompt and told me the part was defective. They oiled everything showing me how to in the future and the door is so much easier to open. They gave me a 50% discount and I was very happy.

I had an issue where the latch was installed crookedly. The company came out first thing the very next morning to correct this minor error. Definitely recommend this company.

 + -1 moreI called in the late morning and they had a repair technician at my house in the late afternoon. They called 30 minutes ahead of time and were punctual when they said they would be there. He evaluated the cranking noise, looked over all of the rollers, and suggested that we replace four rollers as well as the screw drive carriage. He gave us a choice of replacing the broken rollers with metal, or replace all the rollers with nylon, which are quieter but more expensive. Once all the choices were made, he explained the cost structure and he estimated the time to completion (under 45 minutes). The technician completed on time and did a fine job. All fixed!
Description of Work: Evaluated the cranking noise, changed out the screw drive carriage and four rollers, and lubricated the rollers.

They were quick and professional, replacing only what needed to be replaced and charging a very fair price. We have used Hunter Door on several occasions and have only good things to say. They repair people were frienldy as well.

 + -1 moreBoth doors were replaced and look great. Price seemed a bit high for side door but door was rotting and just wanted both done and finished so decided to use hunter for both doors. New garage door is so much easier to open than my old wooden one so pleased. Side entry door also looks great and nice to see old rotten door gone. Everything was cleaned up when they left.

We did like their product and felt they would have done a good job. Seemed very professional, punctional, reliable, and fair priced.  + -1 moreIt took two weeks from estimate to completed work. The salesman came to give an estimate and to help us select the doors. About a week later, the technician came to do the work. It was done in one afternoon, with no problems. Both the salesman and the technician were professional and friendly. Excellent clean-up too. This was a great experience in every way and the garage doors look beautiful! I would highly recommend Hunter Door to anyone after this experience. Our garage is now quieter and drier due to the insulation quality of the doors we selected.

The Hunter representative (Max) responded immediately with quotes for 2 options: either procure and replace the original 20-year old door or replace all 3 with the added features of decorative and stylish low maintenance, insulated materials and our choice of windows. The result was an overdue and upgraded home improvement experience; based on expert recommendations as well as sound and sage advice, competed within less than 1 week once we decided on color and style. Overall, the customer service and product knowledge provided to us was simply superb, turning a bad situation and unanticipated expense into one with a very valuable positive outcome worth the cost. I spoke with someone on the phone who told me that the motor would need to be replaced and that the amount that I had spent could be applied to the work. I decided to call another company that I had used before and ended up having the work done by them for a comparable amount.

 + -1 moreHunter door was by far the least expensive of all the contractors i contacted. They responded the fastest, gave the lowest estimate- and the price was exactly what they quoted. I would definitely hire them again. The job was done within 3 days- from my first phone call to final completion. I contacted other garage door installers on Angie's list but did not see many recent reports on Hunter. this is surprising because they have been around for years and I often see their trucks in the South Jersey area. Other contractors told me they could not touch their price. The final product looks great and performs well so I am completely satisfied.

Description of Work: I used Hunter back in 1990 to replace my builder's grade garage door and things went very well. I sold that place in 2003. I then had them out again to replace 2 doors in my new place in 2009. Again, things went very well. However, in 2011, one door came down from its joint. When I called for them to come out they told me there would be a service fee. I was disappointed because I paid $2500 for them to professionally install it and it appeared it was not done correctly. I did speak with the owner and told him my purchase history and my expectations that a door I paid for them to install should have been done correctly. He reluctantly agreed that if it was installed wrong, there would be no fee. I just found the stress of debating this point very frustrating. Their tech used a small piece of wood the size of a ruler to fasten this 300 pound door. The second door was fastened to a 3 foot by 6 inch board... obviously a huge difference! Once the tech arrived he did fix the broken one and fastened the door up with a steel bracket. There was no charge because it was clear the small piece of wood was a disaster waiting to happen. Their products are good and the service was overall good. I am giving them an overall B because they should have owned up to their mediocre installation without the pushback.

 + -1 moreTerrible! Awful! Horrible! They scheduled my install and never showed up. I called and they said I was scheduled for another time that day even when their scheduler called me twice to confirm the early morning time! I had the decency to give them a second chance and THEY had the gall to not show a 2nd time. I contacted the owner and he back peddled saying they would get someone over there right away. I guess I became so skeptical at that point that I started thinking they never intended on doing the job and would probably botch it up in the process. I called back and canceled with them because I didn't want to risk it based on their current unprofessional manner. Unbelievable how they are still in business. One thing is for sure-they won't get mine or anyone I know!
