Description of Work: Brian was great. He arrived on time and set out to do everything I asked him to do. He repaired a large mirror that's backing came loose, changed all fire alarm batteries, and replaced high hat light bulbs. He also replaced a drawer pull that came off. Finally, he put a wicker chair together for me. | |Thanks again for all the help Brian!

Description of Work: Brian is responsive and punctual. He actually spent more time on the job than what was contracted for, without charging me extra. I hired him to repair two squeaky staircases. One of them he did a great job on and they are tighter than ever. The other I had to re-do some of the work. All in all it was a great deal and I thank him for his service.

Description of Work: Hung lots of pictures in a short time. Was very efficient, yet quite precise (measured everything, didn't just stick them up). Very professional. I have asked for additional carpentry work from him because he is reliable, honest, dependable, and does quality work.

Description of Work: When I contacted this company the initial response was very positive . We had set an appointment for an in home consultation . He was on time & very professional . We set a date for the work to be done & agreed on a price . He was supposed to call 2 days prior to the appointment to confirm . I decided to call him & received no response , I left 2 messages requesting confirmation that the appointment was still on due to his recent surgery . He did not know if he would be physically able to do the work at the time we met for the date agreed upon . He never returned either of my calls (called & left 2 messages . The morning of the appointment he showed up with a helper (both looking as though they were trying to recover from a hangover . Said he had not received my messages even though he was supposed to call & confirm . When we had our initial meeting he was well dressed & professional looking . Unlike the day the work was supposed to be done . Even if all had gone well I would not have let them into my home due to their appearance that morning . He is also not licensed to do work in NY . His company he claims is only licensed in NJ . Future clients beware

Description of Work: A B+ really. This was for awning installation on our deck. Though he was very professional otherwise, wasn't very punctual. Arrived about a couple of hours late, but called to say he was running late (blamed traffic). Brought with him his delightful assistant, who was very professional and helpful as well. He admitted he hadn't installed awning before, but was quick to learn with an instructional manual and installation video. But the actual work was slow and a bit tentative (expensive if you are hiring him by the hour), partly because he struggled a lot to find studs on the wall (unusual for a handyman!, probably had a broken stud finder) . He stayed late beyond his regular hours to finish the job, but the work he performed was truly quality work. He is very methodical, organized and cautious. The awning seemed to hold up well despite all the recent hurricane (Sandy) destruction in this area. Overall, friendly, honest and open person. At one point, because he wasn't successful getting assistance from the toll-free service from the awning company, he even offered to quit and not charge me for the work already performed. Because he had to find multiple studs manually (and that he was slow), i ended up paying him more in hourly wages than I would have another handyman. I would probably hire him again if the price is right and works more efficeintly. If a grade of B+ was possible, I would have given him that.
