Basic Basement Co

I highly recommend Basic Basements. I am in the service industry and I can say with confidence that these folks understand customer service. My project was a relatively large one, taking a damp, musty leaky unfinished basement to the finished condition of a full finished living space mostly meant for the kids. Basic Basements assigned both a project manager and a foreman to the project, both of whom are focused on communication, logistics and customer support. Appointments made were always kept. Workers were polite and respectful of our home. Coordination with township inspectors was handled perfectly. No one goes into a project like this thinking it can be 100% hands off, but Basic Basements made it the next best thing. I could not be happier.

The project began with a complementary consultation. The representative, Dan, talked to us about our vision for the job, took measurements, provided suggestions and proceeded to show us the preliminary costs. He walked us through the timeline and was completely transparent with items or additions that may add to the bottom line. He suggested we think things over and reach out to him when we’ve made our decision. It was this no pressure, transparent approach that led us to agree to move forward. Once we signed on, we were immediately assigned a project coordinator, Gail T, that kept us abreast of upcoming work, permit responsibilities or anything else necessary for the project to continue on time. She never failed to make us aware of any scheduling conflicts or project hurdles (very few to mention) and was quick to come up with solutions...she was superb!! Bob, our project manager, was hands on at the beginning and end of each stage of the project including; Framing, Sheetrock, egress installation, electrical and more. He walked us through the work and made sure it was finished properly at the end. The workers were clean, courteous and experts at their crafts. The work was completed on time, within budget and exceeded all of our expectations. We want to thank the entire team at basic basements for giving us this new space that our family will enjoy for years and we would recommend them to anyone!!!

The work went almost perfectly. I should say Gail, the scheduler, made it work perfectly. Our township has strict enforcement of code; inspections are required at several intermediate points, and are thorough. Coordination and scheduling is absolutely crucial not to have a project like this stall. Gail was on this, and issues were addressed with a day or two. The quality of the work is excellent. For example, field decisions were outstanding, such as how to best orient the bathroom and where to install hard ceilings instead of drop ceilings. The professionalism of the organization is topnotch. We have new pavers on our driveway, and therefore were worried about damage. Not only did they protect it from the dumpster necessary for the work, But put exceptional effort into cleaning it if anything spilled on it. I highly recommend them.

I would highly recommend the basic basement company and here are my reasons as to why: First off, the customer service level is at the highest level of service that I have ever experienced. My project began with the initial phone call to the basic basement company to schedule my estimate. Gail (the absolute best) was able to have an estimator come to my home the following day. The estimator Jerry, (also phenomenal) was very informative and had numerous suggestions for my job. I signed my contract that night (after numerous estimates from other remodeling companies) as I felt confident in the price and my feelings that I would be working with a terrific company. Gail had my permit packet, (already filled out for me) and the transformation of my unfinished basement was underway. Once the permits were approved by the township, Gail called to schedule the initial framing and I was introduced to my project manager, Kevin (tremendous as well). Kevin arrived at my home with the framing crew. The framers were so nice and polite, not to mention hard working ! They were able to finish the entire basement frame work in two days ! After the framing was done, the plumbers came in to do the initial work for my bathroom. They were extremely nice and hard working as well. The electrian was able to wire the entire basement in one day ! He arrived early and stayed well past what I thought was “quitting time” for the day. The spackle and tape crew along with sheetrock crew was amazing. The bathroom tile work came out amazing ! In summary, the basic basement company did a fantastic job. I couldn’t be happier with the work that they did. I was treated with great respect, the communication with Gail and Kevin could not have been any better, any questions or concerns that I had were answered / addressed immediately. The crews were extremely pilot and very hard working; any garbage was cleaned up neatly and left outside of my garage for immediate pick up. I would give the basic basement company an A ++++++ if that were possible.

Basic basement did a great job in finishing my entire basement. The crew was very professional and accommodated their schedule as per my busy plan. The quote that was provided was very detailed and itemized (right to number of outlets, switches etc) and the final quote was very reasonable compared to other companies i had called. Gail (Coordinator) did a great job in scheduling inspections and it was a pleasure to talk to her. She is very responsive and follows up for any questions. Kevin was the project manager assigned to the job and he did a great job in checking on in his crew, making sure that the construction trash is removed on timely basis and also helped me move a very heavy door from my basement. He seems to be a gentle warm person. Other crew members that came did what they were supposed to do. I will definitely recommend basic basement for your basement needs.

It went very smoothly and on a timely basis! They did exactly what they said on the printed contact, and took care of all the permits,( building, fire and electrical). They came early and cleaned up nicely when they finished. We now have a well built, neat basement. Kevin our supervisor did a great job overlooking the job and Gail the main secretary always answered the the phone or got right back to me, even on her day off, if I had questions.

If you are looking to finish the basement, do yourself a favor and look no further. Basic Basement is absolutely amazing! They can do much more then basic. If you know what you want, they can get it done. They have a fantastic crew who are very professional and friendly! You will know this, the moment you engage with them. You can see, they genuinely want to do a great job! Whether they are engaging their own crew or other contractors, rest assured, you get the best! The work done is perfect! Jerry the design and sales consultant worked with us patiently to come up with best possible layout and plan of work for the basement based on our budget. Everything you read in the reviews about the project manager Gail is true! She is absolutely wonderful and extremely efficient! She works with you and schedules everything perfectly so that there is no wasting of time! The on-site project manager Bob is very responsive. The day we met him we got confidence that we are in good hands with the work. It was absolutely a worry free experience for us getting our basement finished with Basic Basement!

Everything went great. This is literally the first time I have ever written a review about anything, but felt compelled to do so since the experience was so good. Basic Basement came highly referred to us and did not let us down. Gail ,the project coordinator, was organized, responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful through out the entire process. Every team that came to our house was professional and courteous. Overall great experience.

Basic Basement was fantastic from start to finish. The estimating was easy to understand and the price was reasonable. All contractors showed up when they were scheduled and the work was completed both quickly and beautifully. Changes and add-ons along the way were handled with ease. Gail who manages and schedules couldn't have made things easier.. With all the troubles people encounter with contractors, its nice to find one that was reliable and dependable.

This is the second time working with this company and I could not be happier! They tackled my 100 year old kitchen turning into a haven in just 4 weeks! Asver (project coordinator) was always on point with timing and answering all my daily questions. The workers always showed up on time and accommodated my constant requests for changes. I honestly enjoyed doing this project with them and would definitely recommend to others.

I originally had my kids bathroom completely remodeled and after seeing the result decided to also have my master bathroom remodeled. Both projects went well !!!! My first bathroom involved a new tub with tiling on the tub walls. A new tile floor, vanity and all fixtures. We removed a medicine cabinet and replaced the ceiling light/fan. The only aspect of the project left for me to do was paint. My master bathroom was much more difficult. It was a complete demo with a new tub and shower design. We enlarged the shower and reduced the tub area and both had to be constructed from scratch. The shower was completely tiled including a niche and the newly constructed tub cradle and surrounding walls tiled as well. Here too, new tile floor, vanity and all new fixtures. We removed the medicine cabinet and replaced the ceiling light/fan. This project also involved some plumbing movements for drain shifts and water lines so it was more complicated. In both cases, I cannot say enough about how the workers were timely, courteous and accommodating. They involved me in many aspects to make sure it was what I wanted. On demo day, a truck was sent to pick up all of the refuse so nothing was left on my property when they left for the day. Tarps were placed on the floor and rugs so nothing got soiled and they worked neatly cleaning up each day before leaving. Asver, our project manager kept in contact with me almost daily to make sure things were progressing as he and I had previously discussed. In the initial stages, he helped me to order the proper shower pan and door that this project required. He too was great to work with and seemed genuinely interested in this project. Both projects started on the original date that Asver told me they would and both took one week each, start to finish. I am extremely pleased at the final product for both bathrooms. I have and will continue to recommend the Basic Company to others.

I hired The Basic Companies to remodel my historical bathroom and was impressed at how smooth and efficient the entire process was with them. It was seamless from the initial consultation to the actual execution of the job. The project manager was always there to answer my questions! It was my first experience working with a team that has a project manager. Love it! The worker that actually did the bathroom always showed up on time, left the work area clean and went above and beyond to make my design a reality. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I am hiring them again to do my kitchen and hoping the process is just as efficient as my first experience. Highly recommended.

We had a full, unfinished basement until we called The Basic Basement Company. They consulted with us and listened to our plans. Their professional guidance through the planning and design phase led us to a stress free experience. We were extremely pleased with the entire project from start to finish. The quality of materials, work, time frame for completion, expertise and professionalism of staff were all exemplary. Communication with Gail Torrelio, our Project Coordinator was right on. When we had questions during the project, she immediately responded back with answers. Her organization of scheduling carpenters, painters, electricians, plumbers and township inspections was completed efficiently and all work was done within the timeframe originally developed. We highly recommend the Basic Basement Company for your home remodeling projects. Photos of completed will be posted soon.

They responded within a few days. They said they do do that work but won’t unless they get a full basement remodel. I certainly want to do it but not sure why I have to pay for a full basement remodel to get a leaky window replaced. Seems greedy. They should take their name off of the window-egress section if they only do full basement remodels.

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! I had them remodel my basement. They punctured my water proofing system by using nails vs. liquid nails which resulted in mold growing in our basement (health concerns) and now will not take ANY accountability. The water proofers stepped up and fixed the issue right away for us because they were concerned for our health but Basic Basements could care less!!!! I've only requested Basic Basements to replace the moldy molding, a hole in the wall, and pay the balance for the work the water proofers did. As it is, the water proofers absorbed half of that cost so the out of pocket is only $1295.00 and Basic Basements has refused to help. They are requesting documentation that is going to cost me more $$ out of pocket before they even agree to assist. We are the innocent victims in all this. We spent over $38k (all our savings) to have our basement water proofed and finished and instead of enjoying new construction that we paid for we now have a moldy mess and outstanding debt to correct their mistake! I've reported them to the news and better business bureau and will continue to report them because I want other hard working consumers to know to avoid this company at all costs. We trusted in them, they were referred to us and they have done nothing to make this awful situation right!!! They out right refused. Don't make the same mistake we did! Just because they are licensed and insured doesn't mean they are a stand up company that cares about their customers.

They were good. They were on time.

I had a unfinished basement, I have to say my husband and I were so impressed by the quality and speediness of the work, I swear if they were not held back by permits ( which are needed) for every job performed they would've been done with 1500 square foot of basement in 4 days maximum. Whole start to finish took 3 weeks. We had to paint and add carpet, but it was beautiful in the end.

They canceled original appointment, after a little run around when to reschedule. Was given an appointment the next day. The estimator was courteous and explained how the company works. He also gave an estimate before he left.

Basic Bathroom did a great job. Our project was on schedule. The workers were very professional and our new bathroom looks great ! I highly recommend and we plan to utilize their service in the future.

Normally, I am a skeptic when it comes to contractors. Many never return calls, or show-up, or provide outrageous quotes which can be discouraging in getting work you want done. However, the team at the Basic Basement Company has changed my view… Outstanding and professional does not even begin to describe the attentiveness that Basic Basement provided during the work being done in our house. Each crew came in as scheduled, performed their tasks as agreed to in our contract, and cleaned-up after each job, including hauling away the garbage. The overall job cost us what we agreed to in the contract. There were no hidden or extra costs. In addition, members of the different crews came back on a couple of occasions to repair some minor imperfections we found. Everyone from Gerard Fournier, the sales rep, to Curtis Flowers, the Project Manager, to Gail Torrelio, the Project Coordinator, to all the workers was a pleasure to deal with. Gail in particular is exceptional; she always returned phone calls and emails in a timely manner, in addition to coordinating the work around our schedules. My family and I have survived several home renovations over the years; this one was by far the most organized and smoothest one! We will definitely consider this company high on our list for contracting when we look to redo our kitchen and bathroom in the future.

Excellent! We had received ridiculously expensive quotes to finish our condo basement - just wanted a family room, closet and office/bedroom (we already had an egress window). We were shocked to see how much it would cost UNTIL we contacted Basic Basement. Our cost was about $10K less than other quotes AND the finished job is excellent. We are quite happy. From beginning (after we received permits) to final painting was less than 8 weeks and that included time having to schedule township inspections during the process. We left lockbox for crews to get in. No problem. Gail from Basic Basement great with communication/answering calls and emails right away. Our project manager was very good as well. We would highly recommend them and have.

Todd the sales rep knew exactly what we wanted and created a plan that would work for us that fit into our budget. Any questions I had he was readily available to answer my emails or calls. Gail oversees the scheduling and I can't say enough about her! She knew the time crunch we were in as we were expecting a baby the following month. Gail was able to fit us in ahead of schedule and coordinate each crew to come in one after another with very little time in between. Any questions I had, Gail was prompt in responding to my emails and locating the answers to those questions. Bob our project manager was excellent. He explained every step in the process and made sure everything was completed in a timely manner and to their satisfaction. The crews were unbelievable. Each crew cleaned up after themselves which you would never know you even have construction going on in the house. They were very friendly too. I cannot say enough about this company! They went above and beyond what we imagined all for a reasonable price. There is nothing basic about them!! Anyone who uses this company would be extremely happy with their work. Thank you Basic Basement!

Our project started in November and finished in January. We had several holidays in between, which slowed the process down a bit. The workers were clean, respectful, and trustworthy. Our house was left in its original condition at the end of every day. As with every construction project, little things go wrong here and there. The important piece is that basic basement took care to fix any problems that arose in a timely manner and without any aggravation on my end. Gail, who coordinates everything from the office, is wonderful! She made sure everything got completed as we requested, even if that meant sending the team back out to correct something. I very much appreciate that the company didn't just do things their way, but made sure that every detail was completed as we requested. They used quality materials and did good work. My only suggestion for improvement would be that a foreman arrive with any new team to explain what they need to do that day, because they sometimes had questions I couldn't answer. Foreman were always available via phone, which is the next best thing, and Gail always made sure to coordinate communication. Overall, we love our new basement and would use basic basement co. again in the future.

We decided to hire the Basic Bathroom Co. to remodel our bathroom after getting various estimates from other companies who did not come close to providing the same level of service. We live in a condo and have a small bathroom so we initially thought it would be more cost effective to just hire one of those companies that installs a cover over the tub and the tiles. However, we were shocked to hear the price for such a simple makeover. As a result, we reached out to Basic Bathrooms to get a quote on an entire remodel-- we were pleasantly surprised that a brand new bathroom would be more cost effective. The Basic Bathroom comany was excellent from sales to installation. They were honest, explained the process, and made us feel very comfortable with our decision. They called us promptly to set up our install date. On the day of the demo,they showed up promptly and the project manager kept us informed every step of the way. Derek, who did the work was absolutely fantastic-- very professional and did a great job installing the tiles along with a decorative border that we had picked out, We love our new bathroom and would highly recommend this company. All the work was completed in 4 days which also made a remodel easy to deal with. I would gladly use this company again...thank you!!!!! Michele & Michael Fanelli

The Basic Basement Co. was excellent from the very first phone call. They scheduled someone quickly to get us an estimate. Their sales representative was able to explain the process in great detail for us and answer our many questions promptly. We had quotes from two additional contractors as well. Not only was Basic Basement Co. competitive in pricing, but we felt confident in going with a company that solely does basements and would know how to navigate issues better than others. This proved true for us because the project went even quicker than we anticipated and was done better than we could've imagined. As far as the quality of work goes, their crews (all directly hired under the company) were very FAST miracle workers who were hard working and did superb work. Their framers provided suggestions on how we could save space (both in ceiling height and cut outs for water lines, etc.) that made the space that much better. Their drywall, spackle, and doors/trim crews were complimented by our painter who was very impressed with how well they finished the space. I was very comfortable with all of the people that were in and out of our house, and appreciative of the care they took to put protective coverings on our floors leading to the basement and clean up after themselves at the end of each workday. Their phone menus made it easy to get in touch with the right person, and everyone in the office was extremely helpful whenever we had a question. Our project manager in particular was able to keep the project moving quickly and overcome any obstacles without any stress on our end. With how much work they do, they have a lot of moving parts, and it's a testament to her that all of this was done seamlessly. We had been apprehensive about spending the money to finish our basement, but in the end are SO thankful we did! We now have a beautiful basement and have greatly increased the amount of usable space in our home. We would use the Basic Basement Co. again in a heartbeat and recommend them wholeheartedly.
