All the reviews are true. LUXURY VAN LINES is ONE LARGE SCAM. I was contacted by a company called Mission Moving regarding my move from SC to WA State. I was given a bid on the move, but informed them that I had two other bids that came in lower. The salesman at Mission Moving proceeded to ask me for the other company’s DOT numbers. He would then send me their BBB link showing that these were poorly rated companies compared to Mission. After a bit, this seemed like the best option and the move was going to ring in at just around $1,700. I provided a deposit of around $500 and was told that the remaining balance would be broken up on the day of my move out of SC and the day my stuff arrived in WA State. I was informed that I would be told my moving date a week in advance so that I could plan around it. 24 hours before the move, no one had contacted me. I followed up and was given a date and time. Thursday at 9:00am it was. SOMETHING told me to contact the movers on the morning of. I reached out at 8:45 in the morning to make sure that we were still on track for 9:00 as I was getting ready to head out. I was told, only after I messaged them, that they had to stop for breakfast and would be there at 10:00 instead. Sure glad I thought to contact them or else I would have been waiting around at my storage unit. I get there at 10:00, waiting, waiting, and waiting. 10:45 rolls around so I reach out again. Took them 15 minutes to respond telling me that the truck broke down and that they weren’t sure when they’d be arriving. I drove home and waited. 11:50 I get a text stating that they were 10 minutes away. Thanks for the extremely short notice. Being the nice person I am, recognizing that it was 90 degrees that day and that they were already having a rough go, I stopped by the store for some drinks and snacks for the movers. Everything was great until the main mover asks me to come talk to him. I am then told, that AFTER providing my inventory space to Mission Moving, that I am going over the allotted space and that I will now be charged $1,000 extra dollars to move my stuff. Mind you, I am moving out of state in 24 hours so now I am stuck with no choice but to pay this money that I didn’t really have. Two of the movers were very pleasant and were the main ones doing the lifting and loading. The main guy was literally texting on his phone and taking personal phone calls the entire time. Obviously, not paying attention to anything that was going on except for the charge me more money. After they had loaded everything in to the truck I was RUSHED through paperwork to sign as they had to get on the road. I barely had time to see what I was signing. I saw all of my stuff in the truck and assumed all was good. I asked for copies and was told that the company would be sending me an email with the copies. Fast forward to the day of the delivery, which was performed by a different company. My boxes were just mangled to high heaven. Don’t bother marking things as fragile as they don’t care. It was obvious some of my boxes had been dropped and tore open as the company tried to tape them all back up like nothing happened. After all was said and done, I was told that was the last of my stuff. I asked about my queen size mattress that had not been brought in yet. I was told that they did not have this on the truck and nothing was listed on the inventory sheet. Mind you, THE ONLY inventory sheet I got was a half-page that said I only moved 7 boxes. Interesting, to pay $2,700 for 7 boxes. I was told that I could not have my stuff until I signed for what was delivered. I was told to then call the company and file a claim about my mattress. One small problem….the guy who did my original inventory, the one who rushed me through all the paperwork, DID NOT PUT IT ON MY INVENTORY. So now, I have PAID EXTRA MONEY on the day of the move to move a large item and this large item isn’t even delivered to me! I called Luxury Van Lines. They don’t even answer the phone with the company name. “Moving Company” is how they answer and in the background you just hear kids and dogs running around. The main person that answers the phones will answer on speaker phone so you can barely hear her and sounds extremely annoyed that she has to talk to you. I was told that if the mattress wasn’t on the inventory sheet that there is nothing they can do about it. I made 7 separate calls and sent multiple emails trying to get this resolved. FINALLY I was able to speak to a manager who claims that his hands are tied and there is nothing they can do. MY MATTRESS DIDN’T GROW LEGS AND WALK AWAY!!! I then ask the manger if I can speak to his boss. He informs me that his boss is the owner and that he can’t guarantee that the owner will even call me back with this issue. I comment on how much of a scam this is to which I am told in no way is it a scam. I proceed to ask how he would feel is he was charged a surprise extra $1,000 on the day of the move due to being “over the allotted space” and then to have one of the largest items, which sells for $2,000, not even arrive? I was told 3 weeks ago that I would I would receive a call from him within a week. Not surprised I never heard a peep. This company has proceeded for 2 months to make me sound like a liar. I am not sure who would pursue this for TWO MONTHS if they were lying. Would be a waste of time. So now, not only did I pay extra to move, I am also out another $2,000 from my lost mattress. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE LITERALLY THE WORST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET.

Seems like good pricing in the beginning, it's a SCAM. They will charge you a TON more upon arrival, men who picked up items also brought up getting tipped before they even enter your property and make it seem like your stuff may not be in the best hands if you don't tip (they then complained about the amount I did give them). Overcharged me for a "long carry" fee as well. Asked for an additional $1800 at arrival on top of my quote - if you don't agree then you lose your entire deposit!! Supervisor Vanessa is not helpful either, she does not treat you well nor care about your complaint.

Description of Work: When my husband and I had our household goods and our piano shipped from Ct to Florida we had a terrible experience with a company named Luxury Van Lines out of NJ. Boxes of our goods were lost and Luxury Lines refused to call the other people who had their boxes on the same truck as ours to see if they had received boxes that didn't belong to them. They would only call us if one of the other clients CALLED THEM to report that they had received goods that didn't belong to them. One person did call us and since she is only a couple of hours away from us, we drove to her home and she gave us whatever goods of ours that she had. However she also was missing boxes of her goods which had not been delivered to her and she said that she also got no help from Luxury Van Lines. Also, the main and most important item we were moving was our BABY GRAND PIANO. Their phone contact said they had lots of experience moving pianos, and yet they grossly underestimated the weight of our piano and therefore the price they quoted us was also inaccurate and we didn't find out the real price until we accompanied the truck driver to the weigh station and found out the real weight and an adjusted price that was way above what they had quoted us. ALSO they sent an old truck labeled Atlas Lines to pick up our goods, and it had no lift with which to get our piano on the truck. They did not have enough men to get the piano on the truck, and they almost dropped it. I was standing there watching and thought my piano would surely be wrecked. Also when the piano was delivered to us at our new residence, they also had not enough men to get the piano off the truck. I refused to let them move it until they added more guys. They kept my piano until the next day, when they had added two men, and finally it was safely moved into our house and set up. The missing box never showed up and we will never use Luxury Van Lines again. Neither of the trucks they used had their name on them. I doubt that they were even a legitimate mover even though I found them on Angie's List.

They were supposed to pick up on 5/5/12 for my daughter. They called last minute on that day and explained they had to reschedule pick up for the following Monday. This was an inconvenience because my daughter had to leave before then and we had to rely on her ex-boyfriend to make sure all of her items were placed on the truck. The "total moving quote" when we started dealing with Luxury was $850.04. When they got to Topeka, they decided to tack on an additional $474.00 in cash or certified check only. I was not aware of this change and they said they would not unload the truck until full payment was received. With little warning, I had to come up with the cash, with only a day notice. I came up with additional amount to get my daughter's things off the truck. I then demanded a receipt, and they didn't want to provide me with one. I wrote my own out and wanted a signature from mover. He only signed his first name. I did not let him leave until he provided me with his last name. The overall experience with this company was as negative as could be. Anyone looking for moving services should stay far away from this company. The quality of work I saw him provide was not good. I witnessed first hand, other's items being mistreated with no respect.
