Being a first time home buyer was a very stressful situation. Having never dealt with contractors before I went to Lowe's to get a garage door. The night the Lowe's installer was supposed to come take measurements, he cancelled while he was allegedly on his way to my home. As disappointed and frustrated as it was at the time, it worked to my advantage. The following day in the mail was the Mercer Clipper magazine and in there was an ad & coupon for TGS. I called, they came and the overall experience was excellent. Not only did I get better service from TGS, I also got a MUCH better price and product than what I would have gotten from Lowe's. I even learned about the wrap, and R value. In the end, I got MORE for LESS and the entire experience was great. I'm writing this review almost two years later as I am about to get entry doors from them as well. I will add - I'm very impulsive and impatient. They answer the phone and emails very quickly (thanks Annette) and our sales guy Pedro fortunately lives close by and is able to pop over promptly to talk about our needs. I ask a lot of questions and they are both very helpful and polite which I appreciate tremendously.

Excellent work and technician was very friendly, professional and explained things in detail

It was not good from day one. The salesman came and measured the door but didn't take into consideration that my door was aluminum and there is about an inch of extra space they have to account for. They delivered the wrong door and they tried to install the door that was too small. They decided to pull the door and they ended up staying here until 9 at night and made my husband had to keep running to and from Home Depot to get panels to make the sliding glass door fit. My husband had to stop the payment on their check and it took them months to put in the new door. Now they have ruined my siding, my door doesn't lock and everything is done wrong. Now I have to set up another appointment to fix the lock.

It was a very basic thing, so it was fine.

This was a big deal purchase. It was good. It was not great because I am still hearing a lot of noise in the garage door while it opens and closes. The guy who came out did spend, like, 30 or 40 minutes on both the doors. The price looks great but the noise is still there. The guy did seem to know what he was doing. They did the work on the same day I had the appointment.

Ordering my door was made easy by the sales people at this firm. They gave me several options without overwhelming me with different choices. Sometimes I just like to pick between 'vanilla or chocolate'. I had told them I like to keep it simple. I certainly appreciated feeling like they had listened to me. The day of install went without a hitch. The installers arrived exactly when promised. They were very courteous. The estimated time to complete the work was also accurate and TGS made sure my property was cleaned up of any construction debris. They were also sure to check that my door was working to my complete satisfaction. I have recommended this company to anyone asking where I go my pretty door

Sal did a full inspection and showed me how to maintain the doors, hinges and rollers. He recommended only the services I should do and was honest. Not a hard sell at all, which is what I was expecting. After he replaced the rollers, I saw and heard the difference immediately. Never realized how loud and obnoxious my door was. Price was fair and Sal even replaced and programmed remotes and a new outdoor closer for me. Highly recommend!

They are really great people and gave me a great price. They were several hundred dollars less expensive than the other major companies. The quality of their merchandise is far superior. The name of the door is CHI, it stands for Chicago. One of the bigger stores mis-quoted me, and would take 5-7 weeks to install. TGS Garages & Doors had it done in a week. They arrived on time when they were supposed to be here and left the place spic and span removing the old door. The other company would have charged me an additional $65.00 to dispose of the door. The sales person was a no pressure salesman. They didn't even ask for a down payment. I would recommend them to any of my friends and would use them again. They really deserve a pat on the back.

The best buying experience I've ever had, from their excellent sales to expert installers. As a detail freak I tend to ask for all the details - not only did TGS answer all my questions and address my concerns they did it in a very friendly and professional manner. My garage door was also a challenge due to its custom nature, but TGS took care of all the details and the door looks absolutely fantastic! Thank you TGS!

Excellent service, from confirming the appointment to actual completion of service. The technician did exactly what was offered and paid for while also giving estimates for additional work he recommended. No high pressure sales tactics. I would highly recommend this company.

He was punctual and did a good job for the price. But he did not provide a detailed diagnostics of the mechanical parts.

The provider inspected both the doors and suggested replacing the parts, as he mentioned that the bearings were in bad shape. He gave pricing to adjust the entire moving components which was somewhere between $500 to $900 depending on whichever option I choose. He lubricated the moving parts and said that he could not adjust the hinges or make any adjustments as he feared that it might just fall off.

I had initially given them a rating of F and my comment was "Do not use them. I felt they were dishonest". The person who came by to look at my door initially said (quite un-necessarily) that most of the moving parts on my door opener needed to be changed immediately, else the door would break in a few days. The prices he quoted were outrageous (in comparison to a new door opener being installed from Home depot). He did not provide any of the services advertised on the door stating that a door re balancing would cause the whole system to break, and merely applied some lube to the rollers. I felt I was being completely ripped off. Hence I gave them an F rating. However, after the rating was provided, I received a call from the owner Patti Nelson. Patti took the time understand my concern, , assured me that the person who had come over to service my door initially did not represent her companies values,and sent another more experienced technician over to look at the door again. This second time , I was advised that not much required urgent changing , and the door opener was generally in good condition (as I had expected). Patti's follow up and the professionalism of the second visit promoted me to change the rating to B. I do not however give them an A because of my initial experience.

The gentleman were very professional and very knowledgeable with regards to all aspects of garage door maintenance and upkeep. They performed an excellent job.

As another reviewer mentioned, it's more of a marketing call than any real tune-up done. This service should really be called "inspection" so they can pitch how you can make your Hyundai a BMW. The only real work done was to spray some lubricant here and there. Rest of the time was spent telling me how everything from rollers to springs to pulleys can be upgraded to better quality and how I can take advantage of their "specials". I guess for $30 it was ok. Anything more, I would feel ripped off. On the positive side, technician was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. If I had a service need, I would consider these guys again.

Technician was very professional, clean. Got me get my car out first and then fully fixed the door by straightening out panels, fixing the genie system and doing work on time. Also fixed the keypad issues!!

(Deal price was $30 but I got extra rollers installed on one of the garage doors and it was d*** expensive. I was pretty happy with the quality of the service, professionalism maintained. It was a great experience except for their pricing.

The guy who came was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He explained what was wrong and stated that the angie's list deal I purchased would not cover the work.

It was useless. I paid money to them to get me their marketing demo. I was not satisfied with them. They didn't charge any more. They don't come there to work, they just come there to show their products. I'm guessing that if I replace my garage door, they'll probably be good, based on their reputation in the market. But, the particular service they offered was useless. They should come there to do some maintenance work rather than marketing.

no service performed. Tired of being harassed by Angie's List for a review so I am submitting to get this out of my email and account each time I log in.

I had paid for tune up of two garage doors, to be done on separate dates. The second door was not serviced. The company failed to show up as scheduled. When I inquired, I was told the computer must have canceled it. No attempt was made to provide service for that door, although I had paid for it. Now I am requesting a refund for the $29.95. Also, I have scheduled an appointment with a reputable company to fix the first door and service the second. Very disappointed!!!
