The job was a 3 man job and they sent only 2 men who moved very slowly and had only been in the business for 6 weeks. They did not know what they were doing and were not efficient with their time (they charge by the hour). We had a two bedroom, 820 sq' home and it took them 9 hours to move us even with all our contents already boxed, and beds disassembled. Once they reached our new place 2 blocks away we gave them specific instructions not to drag the furniture across the floors. We had our hardwood floor refinished prior to moving in and right after we told not to drag the furniture on the floor they did just that and put two 6 foot long scratches on the newly refinished floors. Dealing with the owner to get satisfaction for the damage was a nightmare. It has been a long time since I have had to deal with such an nasty person who called himself a good guy. My recommendation is to never hire this company.
Description of Work: Move the contents of our home two blocks.

The service was terrible. We paid for packing and climate controlled storage. Antique glass was thrown into boxes without padding or wrapping of any kind. We also owned several expensive paintings some of which went missing and two of which are seriously damaged. Several items including an original Navajo rug, an expensive floor vase, several antique art deco coffee and cocktail sets, two ( one of which was vintage ) mirrors, one of a kind antique glass decanter sets ( part of my antique business), items of clothing, and several tiffany style lamps are missing. Most of these are one of a kind and cannot be replaced. Every single piece of furniture has been damaged and we have been forced to pay for repairs. Our piano (also vintage) is damaged and the veneer on one of the legs is cracked and peeling. Storage was obviously not climate controlled and an ozone treatment ( which we also paid for) was required before they could be used. Several pieces ( including a very expensive painted armoire and two mattresses) had to be thrown out because even the ozone could not remove a very strong moldy odor. The provider has failed to present any proof of insurance although he continually insisted that he maintained coverage. The moving personnel signed a statement admitting responsibility for the damage, however, the provider refuses to respond to any and all attempts to contact him. Legal action seems to be our only recourse. I would never use this provider nor would I recommend his company to anyone.
Description of Work: The provider stored our furniture for approximately starting November, 2011 in New Jersey and moved us to Myrtle Beach, SC in November, 2012.
