First off, please note that the product and the installation was fine. Nothing special, just fine. That being said, this is a review of A&W's service, and communication, and I would recommend that since the installation is nothing special, that they use another installer/dealer. I contacted Mark at A&W back in earl March 2015 to have a hardwood floor installed in my house. I am a local to the town A&W is in, so decided to give them my business. I got an agreeable quote, and wrote them a check for $1200 as a deposit. Mark told me they would be able to do the job in late April or May. I did not hear from them as April wound down, so I gave Mark a call. When I identified myself, he went into this condescending fake laugh thing when I said I was calling to check on the scheduling for the install, and I got the impression that he thought I was a pest for calling and inquiring. He told me they were very busy, and couldn't schedule as of yet. I told him that was fine, and that I'd wait for him to call me. I ended up waiting until mid May, and with no call from them, I called again, and got the same condescending fake laugh, and the same story about being flat out. By this time I was getting worried that I was actually being ripped off due to A&W's evasiveness. So, on my 3rd call, in late May, when I again got the laugh and evasiveness, I told Mark that I believed I was a burden on his company, and that I would like my deposit back. He changed his tone INSTANTLY. He told me he'd call back in a few minutes and give me a firm date. He called back in 20 minutes and set a date for 3 weeks from that date, in mid June. He apologized, saying that he was a provider for local contractor, and had to "Take care of them", so he clearly puts a paying homeowner lower down the queue than his big customers, but doesn't state this up front and happily takes your deposit and leaves you waiting and wondering what is going on. So, on install day, his crew arrived on time. They did a good job, as I said. However, it was raining heavily that day, and they came unprepared to protect their own power tools. One installer wanted to set up his table saw on my deck, instead of the garage out of the rain, and insisted that I open my deck awning to protect his saw. I told him that the awning was not designed to be open in rain, but he insisted he needed the saw close due to the large number of cuts to be made, so I reluctantly agreed with the stipulation that he push to underside of the awning up frequently to dump out the water. He did not do this, and my awning ended up damaged to this. They also lost a part of my living room closet door hinge in the debris from ripping out the old rug, and were just going to leave me with a broken door until I insisted they find the part before they left, and it was me that ended up finding the part before they carted away all the debris. So, as I said, while the product was adequately installed, I would suggest other alternatives to A&W Floor Covering due to the fact they aren't offering anything special and have a few minuses.
