Extremely disappointed with this company after reading such great reviews on Angies List. We picked G.M. Roth for our project because of the reviews we read on Angies List but would never work with them again. We met with our designer to finalize our contract/numbers on March 16th (all product including tile had been picked out by this point). We put a downpayment of approx $14,000 and didn't hear from anyone for many weeks. After several weeks passed I sent many e-mails/inquires as to when we would be starting our project. On May 1st, our project supervisor contacted us (nearly 6 weeks after giving our deposit), and we were finally given a project start date of 5/8. We were told that our project would take approximately 2 weeks to complete, minus the shower glass which would take an additional week or two to come in. Our project ended up taking over 2 months to complete which is a far cry from 2 weeks. The only surprise during our project that caused a delay of any kind was a small area of rot in our subfloor which took 1-2 days to replace. There was also an incident with one of the subs where we lost a few days due to an illness, which was completely understandable. They ran out of tile on 3 separate occasions which caused extreme delays, often 1-2 weeks at a time. We ran out of floor tile, accent tile, grout, and pencil edging tile. Each tile shortage came at different times which caused such frustrating delays. The company then proceeded to present me with a bill for over $1,300 at project completion for a tile overage. The fact that we ran out of every kind of tile shows a complete lack of competency. The fact that they then presented me with a bill for $1,300 for tile overages after this disaster of a project (particularly the tile part of the project) was extremely petty and in poor taste. Our main contractor who ran the project was great to work with. Very pleasant to deal with, friendly with our pets and kids, and communicated everything to us in a timely manner. The subs that they used were all respectful and cleaned up after themselves. We are happy with the final product, but couldn't be any more disappointed with how the project went. I would never even entertain the idea of hiring this company in the future.

We were surprised to find our cost expectations for a kitchen remodel were a little on the low side, but since we had no previous design and build experience, we chose G.M. Roth because they could handle the job from start to finish. They took that pressure off of us and they delivered a beautiful result.
Sharon Sargent, the designer, helped us make the best use of our space. Together we came up with a floor plan and made the selections for the cabinets, countertops and tile as well as all the other supporting decisions like lights, faucet, ceiling fan, and switches. She always made herself available to meet us at store locations to look over tile or offer to come with us to look at flooring and lights. We did not agree on every design decision but the result was ultimately a joint effort. We wouldn't have the kichen we have now without her input and experience.
The Senior Project Manager, Jim Lambert, met with us and took us through the construction process, what the daily routine would be, when the contractors would be there, how they would perform the work and the precautions they would take to insure no collateral damage would occur.
The Project Manager, Nick Penella, was the guy who handled the day-to-day, was there to meet the other contractors, did the carpentry and helped us through the post construction punch list. He was the first to arrive and the last to leave. Was always available to answer my questions by phone or text. Always made sure we were happy with the work.
There was some additional work required on the plumbing since the house was not up to current code. He was great, making some excellent suggestions regarding placement of our water filtration system and duct work for the range hood, freeing up even more cabinet space. The electrician wired new boxes and outlets and ran a new line into the electrical box downstairs. The painter squeezed us into his busy schedule before having to take a work trip up north. The floor installer was amazing, measuring the kitchen, cutting the floor back at the office and then coming back a short time later to lay out the one piece floor which fit - perfectly.
The only contractor-related issue we had was related to the tile install. They have since come back twice to help remedy the problem. It isn't completely resolved yet, but they honestly are working with me to correct it and I feel fairly confident they will.
One cabinet was damaged during shipping and though we had to put some of the contractors on hold, we were still able to complete the job on the day they we agreed upon. There were a couple of punch list items that were taken care of by Nick afterwards but weren't a big deal.
Downsides? They only allowed us a $10K max on a credit card. we were unable to use any existing contractors (had we wanted the option), they didn't hold to in-person weekly meetings which was specified in the contract (but they were always available to answer questions), we weren't notified when PM was pulled nor introduced to the new one, and they never reached out to us. Perfect? No, but professional, clean, courteous and we love the results.
Would I recommend G.M Roth? Absolutely. I love our new kitchen, even the pictures don't do it justice. No company is perfect, and it is partially the client's responsibility to make sure they are heard.

Their estimate came in a few thousand dollars higher than competitors, but I was impressed that their initial informational packet included right up front details on the importance of contractors having liability insurance, and procedures for how to 1) avoid miscommunication and 2) resolve issues with the company if they arose.  Both were very important factors to me and I was glad they understood this. With some other contractors liability insurance seems to be an afterthought, and they often fudge about it.

We asked G.M. Roth for contact info of past customers and they gave us about 30 names. I spoke with five and they all gave rave reviews. We decided to go with them and overall we are very happy with how our bathroom turned out.

If I could change one thing, it would be the salesperson whom we dealt with. I was not totally happy with her because she often seemed to forget details we had discussed, so I had to double-check the details in the paperwork before I signed it. And she always seemed to be in such a hurry that sometimes she did not seem to hear what I said. One example: I specified I wanted a shower rod anchored into the wall, not the spring kind. When I saw the final project, I thought that was what had been installed because shower rods look the same to me. But about six months later I noticed it was slipping on one side and that's when I realized it was a spring kind.  Oh well, I can live with that.  To be fair, there are so many details involved in a total remodel that it was hard even for me to stay on top of them.  Perhaps somewhere in the pages and pages of paperwork it specified that the shower rod would be the spring kind and I failed to notice.

The project manager and technical team leader were very professional and I felt I could trust them to do the remodel while we were away on vacation. It turned out great, and we came home to a brand-new, beautiful bathroom. They did warn me in advance that because of the banging on the walls, there might be some damage on adjacent walls. I did find two cracks in the bedrooms but as soon as I called them they came right out and fixed them to my satisfaction. Overall we were very satisfied with this company.

This was our second major renovation project with GM Roth.  Several years ago they remodeled our master bed and bathroom.  Our experience with GM Roth was outstanding for both projects from start to finish.  GM Roth's design team took the time to get to know us and really understand what we were looking for.  They provided a variety of options and helped us work through the cost / benefit of each decision.  The construction process went very smoothly.  The communication was excellent.  Each and every subcontractor, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and flooring, was knowledgeable, professional and courteous.  Both projects were completed on time and on budget.
We had such a great experience with GM Roth during the master bedroom / bath project that we did not even think of talking to another contractor when we considered installing an Endless Pool in our home.  GM Roth spent extra time researching ways to ensure that this pool project would result in a room that our family will be able to use for many years.
We sincerely believe that owner Gerry Roth is committed to making sure his clients are completely satisfied.  They are also great at checking in after the project is complete to make sure we remain satisfied.  We would highly recommend GM Roth to anyone considering a remodeling project.  If we ever consider another project they will be the first and only call.

I would strongly not recommend GM Roth for a home renovation.  I would rate my experience with GM Roth as unacceptable, solely for the project management and construction side of the experience.   Their design team is extremely talented (please see below) but senior management does not have the business expertise or the integrity to manage a project effectively or to be honest with a paying customer.  Detail and perspective on this negative review is provided below.
GM Roth completed an extensive design and remodel of our home.  The end product looks great.  But the process to get to that finished product was not what the company had pledged in the contract that we signed, nor what we paid for.  My experience with GM Roth was extremely poor.
GM Roth is a company that is in transition due to rapid growth.  The housing and renovation market is on fire and GM Roth is seeking to grow with that momentum.  Based on my experience over the course of 2 years (and in the words of the owner of the company) they are struggling with how quickly they have grown ("we just got busy and weren't ready for it"), which resulted in gross under-performance on the job that they completed for us.
My issues with GM Roth were twofold:
1) They lie.
a) As part of the prep work for our project, the team from GM Roth ripped out a small deck in our backyard during the winter.
When they did this, they unknowingly exposed a pipe from our existing kitchen that froze repeatedly over the next 4 weeks.
During that time we had multiple issues with pipes in the floor and under the kitchen cabinets explode, crack and flood the kitchen and the basement below.  Each time I would call GM Roth and be told that it was not due to anything they did, that it was just a cold winter.  Jim (our Senior Project Manager) refused to have anyone come and look at it for me, so I finally called
a plumber, paid $600 out of my own pocket and had him fix all the piping and build a makeshift insulation for the exposed pipe.  GM Roth finally acknowledged that they must have made an error (a month too late) and offered to reimburse me for the out
of pocket expenses.  I?m still waiting for that check a year later.
b) Within a few weeks of our foundation being poured, we started getting water in the basement.  Water in a basement in New England is common.  But we had never had water.  When I mentioned this to Jim, his immediate response was that we needed a sump pump system installed and that he was putting a quote together as we spoke.  He was giddy about getting a change of work order in front of me.  When I questioned why we would need a system in this area Jim told me that ?hydrostatic pressure? was causing water to seep into my basement.  He then explained that we had an unusually high water table.  But when I mentioned to him that the existing sump pumps in other parts of the basement were bone dry two feet below the basement slab, he continued to insist that a high water table and ?hydrostatic pressure? was causing the basement to flood.  I understand what
hydrostatic pressure is.  It does not cause water to rapidly climb 2 feet.  Gerry (the owner) visited and told me that there was clearly no issue with the water table (directly refuting, Jim, who had laughed at me when I dared to question him) but that we had soil issues.  Over the next THIRTEEN WEEKS I was given the runaround from Jim (who I fired), Gerry and Dean (the self-proclaimed ?guy that fixes problems at GM Roth?).  I never received an answer for why I was getting water.  I had to hire outside
contractors to assess what the issue was (not enough crushed stone and piping around the foundation, which is actually not to the standard set in our contract).  Dean told me that there was nothing GM Roth would (not could) do to fix it.  Gerry visited
almost 100 days after the issue popped up and cut me a check to make me go away.
 2) They treat a customer?s home disrespectfully.
GM Roth manages a group of subcontractors to execute on a job.  They are quite proud of the group that they work with and boasted during the initial phase of the design work that ?we treat your home like it?s our home.?  However I didn?t see them live up to that standard when the following things happened:
a) A contractor referred to me as ?the princess? because he had to come back and re-do a job that was done poorly the first time (Todd the excavator ? helps to be sure that the homeowner isn?t actually in the house when you run your mouth, just FYI)
b) I came home one evening to find the door to my house opened, the other doors unlocked and all of the lights on in the house.  It?s not a dangerous neighborhood, but would you leave your own house that way?  It was left that way for at least 3 hours.  When I called to complain, it was dismissed as ?an oversight?.  Leaving one light on is an oversight.  Leaving a customer?s house open like you ran out of there at quitting time is unprofessional.
c) The gentleman that removed the dumpster from our driveway to put in an empty one was kind enough to show up before 6am (not allowed per the contract) and spilled a bunch of debris on my neighbor?s lawn.  Another neighbor out walking his dog asked the guy if he was going to clean it up.  The dumpster guy?s response was ?Mind your own f*&^%$# business.  I?ll take care of it.?  Sweet business partner, eh?
d) And the best example of how GM Roth views your home?  part of our home was off-limits as there was no construction being done there.  This area included our upstairs bathroom and master bedroom.  There was no reason for anyone to be in those areas and with a wife and 2 small children, I don?t want strangers in areas that they shouldn?t be.  Jim assured me that the crews would know where to go and where they weren?t allowed.  So imagine my disgust when I came home one night to find muddy boot prints all over the floor in the upstairs bathroom and a skid mark-stained toilet.  If your college-age son left a bathroom in the condition that GM Roth left my bathroom, you?d take away his car keys and tell him to have some respect.  I called Jim, who blamed it all on Moe.  So I fired Jim, since he clearly had no control over managing what was happening in my house and went to Gerry, who responded by saying ?well at least they got it all in the toilet?.  Great leadership.
So essentially the project management team made fun of a paying customer in his own home, left my house open for anyone to walk into, cursed out my neighbors and left a giant steamer in my toilet.  Would you be happy paying for this kind of service?
And then listening to GM Roth make excuses but not own up to any of it was a complete waste of my time.
GM Roth is a company that lacks an ethical core.  They are willing to take shortcuts, lie to customers and are the antithesis of a business that will do the right thing.  This company lacks any moral character in its leadership team.  I have never experienced a company that is so willing to lie.  Once we signed a contract, the focus of the GM Roth team was on their next business opportunity, not doing the job that they had signed a contract for with us.  This is the behavior of a marketing company, not a design and contracting firm.
Since I am certain that th

We are happy to see him indicate that the end result of the project was of excellent quality, and hope that his family will enjoy it for many years to come. After being in business for 28 years, and having a client satisfaction rating with positive responses from over 94% (industry average is well below 50%) of our clients, thankfully we have thousands of others that we have performed very well for. We are just as disappointed as Mr. [removed member name] is that he did not get to have that type of an experience with us."

Moe and Ed showed up on 14 Oct 13 and they were with us until New Years Eve when everything was complete. We knew going in that it would take that long to complete but we were willing to do that. I don't even know where to begin telling my story. GM Roth's employees are so far above and beyond anyone we have delt with in the past they are truly unbelieveable. Everyone trade that came in to our home was professional, courteous, and really artist within their trade. The tile guys were awesome and when we came in to see what was going on, he would take the time to explain and talk with us about how the tile should be done and when he finished it is magnificant. We have a custome showeer in the master bath and a hot tub in the hallway bath that my grandsons love. Our bathrooms look like a magazine picture. Trully outstanding. The railings for the stairs and the new windows are also awesome as well as the hardwood flooring. We were receiving several packages almost daily since it was close to the holidays and every day we came home and the packages would be inside the house stacked neatly in the hallway. One package came that needed a signature of someone over 18 so Lenney the tile guy signed for it and told me about it when I got home. They were always gone by the time we got home on a normal work day, not that it made a difference because we lived in two room, the kitchen/dining room and the bedroom. Occassionally we had to switch bedrooms or bathrooms depending on where they were working. But there were never any surprises as we talked on a daily basis either in person or by leaving a note on the counter top. For a project as big as ours we could not have asked for anything better. From the beginning to the end the people at GM Roth were always available to answer any question and every time I asked for a change they always accomadated me. They were truly awesome and I can't say enough good things about the entire staff that we came in contact with. If you want to see pictures let me know or if you would like to see their handy work send me an email and we will try to accomadate. If you have a project then I suggest you get GM Roth to do that project.

We used GM Roth to remodel one full bath in 2012. Based on our good experience with them, we contacted them in Jan. 2013 to discuss remodeling our two 3/4 baths, kitchen and dining room. We signed the contract in Early February with work starting in late March. Work consisted of a new vanity, shower, paint in one bath, new vanity, cabinet, granite sink, fixtures, in the second bath, all new kitchen (cabinets, fixtures, installation of our new appliances, paint, installation of electrical fixtures, etc. (the existing tile floor remained), and partial removal of a wall between the kitchen and dining room, and a paint job in the dining room. The job was completed in May 2013. Their employees were excellent to deal with during the sales, pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases. Their subcontractors (electrical, tile, and paint), did a great job. Daily cleanup was great. We would highly recommend GM Roth to others planning both limited and/or extensive remodeling work. We had no trouble sleeping at night during any phase of our experience with them.

They were awesome. They did a great job. They were very professional and everything was done very neatly. They were very concerned about my schedule, making sure to work around me. They were very creative and had great ideas. I still to this day can't believe that the kitchen is mine. Their follow up was excellent. I'd highly recommend them.

They definitely stand behind their work and we are very appreciative of that. The only complaint is that several materials have been delivered damaged, such as cabinet doors and shower doors. We are pleased with their service to take care of the damaged products. The time to replace the damaged products has been lengthy, but I don't think it was their fault.

They were excellent. Prior to starting the project we sat down and detailed all aspects of the project. The arrived punctually everyday and handled every detail. Each night they cleaned up and left the work area as clean as possible. Their attention to all the details was flawless. Each phase of the project was completed as detailed in the preconstruction meeting. They are not the least expensive contractor that we had quote on our project, but they are worth every penny. We now have a kitchen we can truly be proud of. I would highly recommend them and already have thoughts for my next remodeling project with them.
