We had nothing but problems from day one. Due to another job, ours got pushed back a number of times which is a bit annoying in terms of our schedules but understandable as ours was supposed to be a short one day job. When they finally came and did the work it took longer than anticipated, which is fine. However, I noticed immediately that the new door was not vinyl receptive (as was quoted to correctly fix the problem) and was installed crooked as so it wouldn't close properly. I showed Bob the next day and the blame game started. First of all the manufacturer didn't make a vinyl receptive door anymore (we should have been notified before installation), second it was the manufacturer's fault for giving us a defective door and Bob didn't want to reinstall a new one for free (not my problem). After a bit more go around, they took the door out and realized they had actually put it in wrong in the first place; refitting it corrected the problem. We are now on day 3 of a 1 day job. After the door was finally fitted correctly, I looked at the flooring under the damaged hardwood panels that had to come up and noticed it was almost totally rotted through (I easily pushed my finger all the way through it). I called Bob and asked about it; he maintained that his guys didn't think it was a problem. The next day he looked at it and I insisted that it should be fixed too (water damaged flooring is bad) so he agreed. For the record, repairing such damage was absolutely part of the original quote. Seems to me like they were just cutting corners to finish the job as fast as possible. On day 4 (of the one day job) they finally got everything put back together. Since there was so much trouble Bob said he would give us a foot lock for the door for free and come back to do some finishing touches. We never heard from him again. With the exception of the door itself, the workmanship looks pretty shoddy. The outside is okay, although again the door is not vinyl receptive as quoted. Inside, the first couple hardwood floor panels next to the door are warped and don't fit well (rather than fit new panels they put the old damaged ones back in place) . They tried to patch the gaps in between the warped panels with some type of filler that has since dried up and fallen away (not surprising in a high traffic area), leaving gaps in the floor. It looks awful and I will have to either fix it myself or have someone else come in to fix Heywood's mistake. He insisted to do so would require redoing the entire floor to the tune of $10k. Ridiculous. Even the simple paint job they did on the trim and around it to match the walls looks like they spent about 5 minutes on it. Bob is a really nice guy and if you hired his company for a big job he might give it the right attention. But the work he did for us is not up to the standards I would consider to be professional and therefore I can't recommend him.
Description of Work: When my house was built the siding above the back door was improperly installed so water was penetrating the door frame and rotting the floor. On a recommendation we hired Heywood. He correctly identified the problem as being 1) the original door was not a vinyl receptive door and 2) the outside trim was wood rather than polymer. He recommended that we replace the door and change the trim on a second door that was also starting to rot. We received a very fair estimate for a new sliding vinyl receptive door and installation, as well as repair of the damaged flooring just inside the door.

e.I worked for this contractor and have never been associated with someone as unprofessional as him in my 25+ plus years in the trade. I know many former employees who have also had to leave under similar circumstances(being owed thousands of dollars). How he has been able to stay in business with the IRS and numerous people after him for money is beyond m
Description of Work: This so-called contractor constantly shows up late, screams all day and never finishes anything on time. He is completely unprofessional, doesn't pay his employees on time resulting in liens against homeowners. I would avoid him like the plague.
