Headline: Took Advantage of my 94-Year Old Father Doing Unnecessary Work for Extra Billing. Special Touch Computers is an absolute nightmare, and I am beyond furious! My 94-year old father in Omaha had a simple issue with his computer screen after a power outage, and I knew it was a quick fix but I live in New York. I called Special Touch, spoke with Robert, explained the situation, and even told them exactly what needed to be done. They sent a technician, Evan, who fixed it in minutes – exactly as expected. Evan called me and confirmed he fixed the issue and was finished. But then the nightmare began. I later learned that Evan stayed for nearly two hours, doing who-knows-what, and charged my father an extra $89 on top of the initial $99 fee. I called to complain, and the representative, Kim, had the audacity to say it was “standard practice” to do extra optimization work and charge for it! When I demanded to know what Evan did, she said they don’t keep track and wouldn’t even bother to find out. She actually told me to look in the computer logs myself! I live in New York, so that’s obviously impossible until I visit my father again. To resolve my issue, I asked for a complimentary one-hour visit the next time my father has an issue – not even a refund back to the expected $99! Kim refused and offered no other remedy. Her attitude was appalling, and clearly, they don’t care about their customers or their satisfaction.
Description of Work: Change the input on the computer monitor to PC input (2 minute fix--charged for 2 hours!)

First of all, I called Special Touch because I thought I had a printer problem. Even though I was not a current customer of his, he took the time to listen to my problem and gave me advice. He even went so far as to send me a couple links to new printers that I could order on my own. (This in spite of the fact that he also has a few printers to sell in his shop.) I was impressed enough with Robert's patience and knowledge on the phone with me, that I decided to take my laptop in to have him service it. Once again, he patiently listened to my questions and concerns, and then told me what he could do. Even though I was in the middle of a project I needed the computer for, I left the laptop with him when he assured me that he would have it ready the next morning. He was as good as his word. My son and granddaughter have had work done there in the pastl, which is how I first heard of Special Touch; and I was confident that I could trust him. I absolutely will use him again and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Robert serviced my laptop. System optimization; removed all malware/viruses; updated programs; and removed unnecessary programs and applications (it was my husband's business laptop before he gave it to me).
