Hired via UHaul Moving Help for a simple, studio-size apartment load and unload where 90-percent of my belongings were packed neatly in boxes with handles (there were just some things that don't fit in boxes like mops, brooms, drapery rods, etc). After booking online, I did not hear from anyone for over a week to secure a time on their schedule. I finally got the owner, Matt, on the phone after a couple of times trying to call and confirmed a time for them to meet me at my storage unit. Matt was unprofessional and asked for the payment code up front before the job was complete. Matt said he would call me back the day before to reconfirm my service time but I never got that call. Day of moving, they were a no-show until I called Matt's cell phone after about 15 minutes asking on voicemail where the h3ll they were because they were supposed to meet me at 1. Sent him a couple text messages saying he better call me back. Matt called back a few minutes later saying they were about "20 minutes out" and would meet me at the storage unit, of which I had to provide the address yet again because he didn't have the job order details with him for some reason??They finally showed up after waiting nearly an hour and I was well beyond annoyed by that point. Guy #1 was verbally complaining the entire time and Guy #2 was on his phone for the first ten minutes. Watching them pack a 5x10 storage unit into a 10-foot truck was like watching two clowns lose badly at Tetris. They showed NO strategy or organization, just throwing things wherever, plus I had to tell them NOT to put my flat screen TV in the attic of the truck so it didn't fall down if I had to slam on the brakes. They didn't try whatsoever to keep the blankets on what I wrapped around my wooden furniture, and just ripped it off on some things like my coffee table and nightstands. When they unloaded the truck, I started noticing my furniture was scuffed up, deep scratches/nicks in my wooden furniture, and casters/wheels broken off a couple things. Guy #2 broke my full length mirror, and although he was kept apologizing, he just left it laying in the front lawn outside instead of taking it to the dumpster???!!! Very unprofessional and will not hire every again.

After the owner called me twice the week of to confirm scheduling, they did not show up. The night before we confirmed an 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. arrival time. At 9:15 a.m. I texted asking for his eta. A few minutes later I called and left a voicemail. I texted and called a couple more times and never heard from them. It's been one week. Horrible customer service obviously. I had just moved across the country, left me in a really bad situation. I finally found someone to come last minute and when telling them, they had heard a few other people complain about this company.
Description of Work: I hired them to unload a POD for me on a Saturday morning. I had booked them a few weeks prior.

I have never used movers before, and I was thinking the experience would be nice, easy, and simple. It was the complete opposite. Smooth Movers was supposed to move everything that we had in our garage as well as our house. We had boxed up most of our house as well as everything the garage that could fit in a container was in a container. They wouldn’t move anything that was in the garage and they only moved the boxes in our living room and the basement that were in boxes. They didn’t bring any tools to take the legs off of the furniture which most movers need to do so that they can move furniture from basements. They were not prepared for the weather as it was cold the day they were moving and they were wearing leggings and a hoddie, which wasn’t right for the weather at all. We had let them know about the garage a week in advance and they said they could move everything we had asked for them to move. THEY DIDN’T!!! My husband and I had to load up the rest of the garage into our pod which I think is the stupidest thing. We were paying $300 for their services and they didn’t move half of the stuff we asked them to do. The garage had wood for woodworking tools, and tools for automotive repairs… NONE OF IT GOT MOVED!! I’m sorry I’m paying $300 for you to move my garage and a few boxes and you didn’t move half of it. Then the following day which was for the finally loading they changed times. They were scheduled for 9:30 AM, they called saying they needed to reschedule because they had a long night the night before. We understood and we allowed the move of time to around 2:30 PM thinking that that will be okay due to the moving not going to take to long. They called around 12:30 PM saying they overbooked…. We were the first ones on their list how could they over book when we were supposed to be the first ones they moved for the day. They said they would like to reschedule again!!! They asked us if we could do Monday! I’m sorry I scheduled for Sunday you said you were good for Sunday I can’t take time off of work just to accommodate you overbooking when that is not my fault. I told them this and they were like well we can try to aim to be there around 7 PM... what the ****!!! I am not going to stay up and then miss on sleep when they were supposed to be there at 9:30 AM!!! They lied, and said, “ We were originally scheduled for 2:30 pm.” This is not what we expected from a company that was supposed to be highly rated. Especially when we have a confirmation email and text showing the date and time for Sunday at 9:30 AM. We had to cancel with them and call our friends and family just to come and help us move furniture and everything else into the PODS when I hired movers to do this!!! I took my friends and family away from their families on a Sunday just because some dumb movers could not get their bookings correct. This also caused my mother to have to take the Monday off of work due to back pain because she helped with moving boxes into the Pod. Now, this really ****** me off, she lost pay for one thing and also she was in so much pain she could barely get out of bed on Monday.

I have moved several times and I have never seen the care given my belongings. Due to the stairs the movers didn't take any chances and carried each box individually over bouncing a dolly down the stairs. It was one of the hottest days and they wouldn't even take a break and we're very thankful for water.
Description of Work: I moved from one apartment to another apartment across town. I had 22 steep stair steps in my old apartment in the Old Market and the guys didn't complain.

They left without completing the job and did not get paid.
Description of Work: Furniture moved. They quoted me a price and started the job but left and did not return.
