My wife & I chose my native Wilmington as the most ideal community to live and raise our three children. After living away for over a decade, it’s clear to me why so many others are making the same choice today. As a retired contractor, licensed home inspector and licensed real estate broker, I've developed an appreciation for the perils of home buying, and the need for informed professional advice. As a professional home inspector, I strive to impart an intuitive understanding of each home's condition with an emphasis on costly deficiencies. My goal is to provide competent support to the home buyer and their agent. Clients are encouraged to attend their home inspection and discover first-hand their prospective home's positive features, also the not-so-great features. The majority of our inspection reports are delivered the same evening, all reports are delivered within 36 hours. Our reports utilize state-of-the-art reporting software, including photographs and clear explanations. The information gained through our professional home inspection will help you to make informed decisions, and work confidently toward your best outcome.

IT didn't go.
Description of Work: The provider was supposed to contact my real estate agent (buying agent) to schedule an appointment to schedule the inspection. Instead he took it upon himself to bypass the agent who is my representation & contact the selling agent directly & set up the appointment. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Unfortunately, the out of state buyer does not understand the law, ethics and responsibilities of Realtors in NC. Home Inspectors and Agents are members of the board of Realtors, we're all Realtors. As a home inspector, I unlock doors and enter homes while the homeowners are away. I must have their permission or I will be trespassing. Home Inspectors request inspection access by an automated system: the homeowner is notified and may grant or deny permission for us to enter their home using the home's lock box. Home Inspectors work directly for the client, usually a home buyer. We do not work for the agent and are not subject to the agent in any way. Think about it... Many agents use words like "immaculate, charming, quaint, perfect, desirable, etc.", while home inspectors use words like "deficient, dangerous, decayed, unsanitary, repair, replace, etc". The last person a buyer should want their home inspector answering to is a homeowner or agent... If we had to answer to agents, every home would have to be "immaculate, charming, quaint, perfect, desirable, etc.". Ethics, laws and standards of practice are in place to protect the public. Every client deserves a truthful and intuitive understanding of their future home's condition, and confidence that licensed professionals are observing the laws and ethics of their profession.
