Island Creek Landscape

Experience was very good. Estimating and service was prompt and professional. Installation was very organized and the property was left immaculate. Plants suggestions were great and completed our current landscaping nicely. Driveway took two full days and was perfect. Very easy to work with and very friendly.

We learned of Island Creek Landscape as new members of Angie's List. We were impressed with the numerous positive reviews of the owner, Daniel Griffin, and contacted him about our desire to tackle the back yard landscaping project. Daniel promptly responded to our inquiry and met with us several times to discuss our plans, his vision/ideas and what could be accomplished with our limited budget. We shared with Daniel our horrible experience with the landscaper who handled our front yard project last year (Brian Paradise Fine Landscapes - see Angie's List review) and he addressed our questions and concerns in a very straightforward and professional manner. Our goal was to install low-maintenance plants which are native to our area and ones that would work well with our lot, which has mature trees and plenty of shade. Based upon our budget, Daniel prepared a proposal which met our goals and had flexibility if we wanted to do more or make suitable substitutions. One of the primary reasons we chose to work with Daniel was the fact that he has so many positive reviews on Angie's List and he guaranteed the installed plants for one year if they were cared for properly. Daniel's contract clearly outlined which plants would be installed and the other activities associated with the project. He also included a design plan to help us cross-reference what plants were installed and where they were located. Lastly, Daniel provided us with a maintenance plan for us to ensure proper care of the new plans. The three day project was completed on schedule. Our back yard looks fantastic and we wish we had worked with Daniel's firm on the front yard. Daniel also provided us with a hardscape design proposal, which we will likely pursue this fall or in 2013. Our experience with Island Creek Landscape was perfect and we highly recommend this firm for landscaping and hardscaping projects.

Our front yard was a jumbled mess of overgrown shrubbery, rocky mulch beds, and spotty grass. We asked Island Creek to clean slate the front yard, by removing all bushes and rock debris, and sodding the entire front yard (small front yard - about 500sq ft). In order to save time on both our end, and Island Creek's - we were able to work up a budgetary estimate via email correspondences with a few photos and measurements to describe the work. The estimate seemed very reasonable, and was within our budgetary expectations. Daniel then came out to get a firm quote and confirmed the exact amount of materials needed (top soil and sod). He finalized the quote, added in our Angie's List Discount, and scheduled our work. His crew showed up on time, was extremely friendly, and efficient. They did a great job cleaning up the debris after the work was complete. All I can say is "WOW!" - what a difference it made to the curb appeal of our home. I would definitely recommend Island Creek, and will certainly give them a call for any landscaping tasks that are out of my realm of capabilities.

The experience was great and I love the new wall. Daniel came out the first day and we walked through the plan. The wall is curved to give some dimension to the long and narrow back yard. Daniel drew out the curve and the guys who implemented it did a great job fitting it into the grade of the land. I have much more usable space now. The berm had been covered in silt cloth that I couldn't even cut through to plant anything. All of that has been removed. Soil, amendments and mulch have also been put down so I can plant in the beds. I can't wait to get started! A french drain along the berm was put in to help with drainage and the dry river bed will also help, but also gives me a focal point at the end of the yard. I will definitely work with Daniel and his team when I implement the next parts of the plan.

Our back yard was a disaster area. We had a drainage problem that involved standing water in the yard and major bare spots. We had some trees removed and stumps ground out. Island Creek came in, removed the old soil/tree waste, installed new topsoil, graded the lawn perfectly, installed a french drain system connected to our downspouts and installed sod. The work was performed beautifully and precisely on time. Daniel Griffin is a knowledgeable, articulate and professional landscape person and his crew is also hardworking and excellent. I will not hesitate to employ Island Creek again. We are very pleased and totally satisfied with the results as well as the services we received from Mr. Griffin and his company.

It went great, they had a pretty tough environment to navigate as my previous patio was a 20x30ft mud puddle. Not only did they install the patio, but went beyond by helping route my gutter downspouts away from the patio and house.

Everything was perfect. Dug up ground to create 40 square yeards of flower beds. Installed over 100 trees, shrubs, and plants. Then mulched everything. And the kicker, they cleaned up after themselves. Not one complaint.

From the onset, Daniel has been extremely professional, prompt and proactive. One of the first landscapers to respond to my inquiries back in September, Daniel has been very involved from start to finish of the project. He consistently reached out to me to advise of timing for next steps and stayed on top of the project from beginning to end. The pricing estimate he provided was very reasonable and the project took 5 days to complete (start-to-finish). The crew was very punctual and I was extremely impressed with how quickly they accomplished the job. Ryan, the "foreman" was meticulous in his supervision and there was nothing he didn't miss. There were a number of little extras he and the team did for me that were not included as part of the formal estimate - installing the drainpipe from the gutter downspout to the swale, installing a stone "pad" for the trashcans, trimming the trees, installing a new bed around an existing tree at side of yard, etc. In addition, my neighbor was having an issue with her gutters and erosion and Ryan personally went over and filled the hole with gravel and cleaned out her gutter at no charge. In the spring Daniel and team will begin Phase 2 which will include laying Zoysia sod and installing additional plants in the bed in front of the house. I couldn't have been more please with the quality of the work and the professional way in which they handled the work form start-to-finish. I have already recommended Island Creek to friends who are in the market for a good landscaping/hardscaping company.

I contacted several structural companies to determine the cause of a wet wall in my exercise room that is in my basement. All agreed the problem was not structural but could be solved with landscaping. I spoke with Daniel Griffin, who came out and did an initial assessment in July. His initial assessment was the slope of the yard was toward the house however he felt he should investigate further. We agreed he was start after I removed several old shrubs and a crape myrtle tree from the area. This work was completed in early October. Daniel followed up with me on a regular basis to determine when I wanted the work done, despite his very business schedule. On November 16, Daniel sent over Ryan, a member of his team, who first tested the drainage and found not only did I have a slope issue but the drainage pipe had been installed incorrectly in 1995. This caused the water to run back to the house. Ryan dug out the drainpipe, re- laid so it had positive drainage and brought in soil to raise the slope of the yard.

After looking at several patio installs both online and around the area I drew up my design and went to Angie's list to review the top rated companies. Daniel (the owner) promptly returned my call and set up a time to meet and review the project, the other companies were slow to respond and one never did. After meeting with Daniel and the other companies representatives I chose Island Creek because Daniel asked the most questions on what I wanted, helped tweak the design, met with us several times before we had decided who would do the project and set up appointments with past customers of his so we could see his work all of which provided an excellant and professional experience before any work began. The installation began in mid July and it was hot that whole week, easily 95+ degrees everyday with no clouds in the sky so the crew started early and worked as long as they could each day without complaint. We provided drinks, snacks and anything else we could to try and give some relief from the heat and the crew was always courteous and thankful. As you would expect with any project there are always unexpected challenges so when they appeared Daniel would discuss the issue and options with us to make sure we were happy with the results. As the project was nearing completion we made a last minute decision to install a small walkway to the patio and even though it was not in the plans Daniel worked with us on a design and got the extra work completed. In the end the patio turned out better then we thought it possibly could, we were simply amazed at the final result and the quality of the work that was done. The crew topped of the project with some minor landscaping of the area's around the patio and reseeded area's of the lawn that needed it. It's been a few months since the project was finished and Daniel has come out a couple of times to answer additional questions we've had and is always prompt to return calls or email. I highly recommend his company for any sort of landscape or hardscape work you may need.

We have used Daniel and Island Creek before however this time they out did themselves. More than a new patio, a neighbor calls it, an addition of living space. We are extremely pleased. The care and preparation taken during construcion is second to none. These guys were prompt and worked hard and cleaned up at the end of each day. Daniel made some recommendations and WOW..They are the best value of anyone I have had to do work for us. Going to enjoy this space for a long time... thanks Island Creek!!

Daniel came out to provide the estimate, arriving promptly and following up by providing us with an estimate very quickly. He listened to what our plant preferences were (low maintenance and not too flashy) and sent us an estimate describing plant placement along with the exact names of the plants so I could google them to see if I liked them. He was able to squeeze us in while working on another job in the area and his guys completed the job in about 1/2 a day. The plants looked great and Daniel emailed us a watering schedule so we'd know how to take care of everything. I wanted to wait a couple months before posting this review to see how the plants have held up. So far so good. They're definitely feeling the effects of the high temperatures we've been having, but they're still holding their own. I would highly recommend Island Creek for anyone considering having some landscaping done.

We could not be happier with the finished product, the hardscape patio in particular is just stunning. This is our second or third project with Daniel and Island Creek. As per our other projects, Daniel's professionalism and concern for keeping his commitments is striking. As far as the timeline, Daniel said that he'd have the project done in about a week once he started, and that the start date depended on the weather, but that he'd schedule our project 4-5 weeks out. About 4 weeks later he called and said that he was ready to start, and sure enough the project was done by the end of the week.

Daniel arrived for the quote when he said he would and returned calls promptly, unlike other contractors. He was very professional in the quoting process, it was easy to tell they are professional landscapers. The project took two days, first day repaired the drainage (this is the first time in the past 6 years that the yard had no flooding) and the edgers were started the first day and were finished the following day. At the end of each day, they cleaned up the area where they were working - this was a surprise and truly shows their professionalism. We did have one minor problem with the stone work, but it was repaired the following day with no issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend them.

My overall experience was very positive and I would recommend Daniel and his company to anyone looking for quality landscaping/paving work.

Daniel does everything right, from the initial quote to job completion. He is thorough, professional, and knowledgeable in his field. One of the things i liked the most about doing business with him was his attention to the job. He was at the job site almost every day at some point making sure everything was done properly. His crew was courteous, hard working, and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Our project was a combination Hardscape/Landscape job. I received four quotes from highly rated Angie's List companies. Island Creek was priced near the high end but not the most expensive. Daniel's quote was the most detailed and organized and he provided good references. Once we selected his company, he started the job on time and finished within the time frame that he expected. I could not be more pleased with the outcome. The wall is fantastic. It completely transformed our front yard. We have a beautiful new wall which adds tremendous character and gained much needed lawn space for our children to play. I was also impressed with the new plantings. I have to admit that this part was not as high of a priority for me. I was very focused on the more labor intensive wall and concerned that it met my expectations. But after the plants went in the newly created beds, I could not believe how nice it all looked together. The newly sodded lawn was beautifully laid into place. Daniel was very helpful and knowledgeable in explaining to me how to care for it particularly in the first few weeks. I could not be more pleased with my experience with Daniel's company. As a side note, he is a true gentleman and an honest businessman. Well done! I would definitely use them again.

Daniel came out and we discussed various items we were looking to get fixed with the landscape and retaining wall. The existing landscaping plants were old and needed to be replaced. He came back with a proposal in a few days. They had a great price (compared to others) and we discussed the plant material that was going to be used. We made a few changes and he discussed the downside of a few plants we were thinking about using. Took a few weeks for us to get on the schedule which was not a problem for us. Came out on date promised and completed the majority of the work on that day. Daniel had a few questions on the day of the work and we worked through all the details. Came back out the next day to finish a few things. We added replacing some sod at the last minute and he said no problem. Also, we decided to reroute some drain pipes at the last minute, again, no problem. Really very easy to work with. Everything looks great. They did an excellent job. No problems or issues with any of the work. The retaining wall repair looks great. Landscaping is 1000% better than what we had. Everything flows great with the plan he provided. He even put pine needles in existing beds that he didn't work in. I would not hesitate to recommend this company. They do great work at a reasonable price.

I contacted 3 A rated Angie's List contractors to bid on my project. Daniel was, by far, the best of the group. He provided the most detailed and thorough quote and revised it a couple of times as we talked through the project and changes needed to be made. He made it all work within the budget I had. His crew showed up on-time every day and worked hard. The project took about a week from start to finish. The end result is that my backyard has been completely transformed! It is even better than I imagined it would be. I highly recommend Daniel to anyone looking for a landscape contractor and I would definitely use him again.

They did a wonderful job. We are still getting compliments on the change.

They are very good. Nothing is ever perfect, like perfect, perfect, but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. They are very good in terms of their service, professionalism and clean-up. I would be using them in the future as they would be coming back to do some more work.

The shrubs were in very good condition and large for being 3 gallon plants. James arrived early on the scheduled date to accommodate our schedule. He installed the plants where we had markers set up. The whole process went very well. We have used Island Creek Landscape several times and have always been pleased by the work they do.

Daniel and his team were very detailed and very professional. We were quite happy with the quality of their work and we appreciated their patience and responsiveness when we had requested changes. We would definitely use them again and highly recommend them. In fact, our neighbors used them for assistance with paver work in their backyard and remarked at how impressed they were with Daniel's team's skills.

They came for a quote on a retaining wall and some patio/stone work. We ended up only wanting them to complete the patio/stone work. When we asked them if they could complete the patio work we were told that it was too far to drive for them to complete the $500 project we needed. Really? Why are they even accepting quotes on areas that they are not willing to drive to?

I contacted Island Creek Landscape for an estimate to replace our pool deck, which was old (rotting) wood and brick pavers. Daniel came out to talk about what I was looking for and got back to me with an estimate quickly. I got an estimate from two other companies and Island Creek's was the most reasonable, and his schedule estimate was more in line with what I needed. Daniel continued to work with us to make sure that we got the most for our money, while staying within our budget. He reworked the plan several times to that end. Work started as promised, and the entire crew was on time and very professional. Once we got into it we decided to add an additional area to the patio, and Daniel accommodated our requests with no problem. Daniel's design suggestions were perfect - he recommended a different pattern in one area and they were very careful about leveling and the visual effect around the pool. At one point, they realized that my pool was not square, and they took extra measures to make sure that once the pavers were laid, we would not be able to "see" the problem. Indeed, had he not told us about this and altered his design, we would have never known! The finished product is absolutely beautiful, and we are enjoying their work every day. The customer service, attention to detail and quality more than met my expectations and I will gladly recommend Island Creek Landscape to anyone, and we will certainly use them again in the future.
