Shelby heating and air

I own a rental house and my tenant called me on Friday because she had no air conditioning. I went out to the house to check and called Shelby heating and air because it was after hours and they have someone on call for the weekends. Someone called me back and said they could be out there Saturday morning but it would be double because the weekend. My tenant is pregnant and has children so I did not want them going an extended time without air so I agreed. I met the technician out at the house on Saturday and he told me he found the issue and to fix it would be $600. I told him to fix the issue and thought that would be it until my tenant called me when they left saying she still had no AC. I called my tenant and she said the technician never came into the house to check if it was working. I called the technician back and had to convince him to go back out to fix it. He then told me I could try and replace the thermostat for another $150 to see if that would fix it. I knew then that this was a huge scam and called a friend who was a retired heating and AC teacher and he confirmed that the thermostat had nothing to do with my issue and this was an attempt to get more money before fixing the true problem. I called the company number and asked to have a manager return my call. I never heard from anyone else at the company. I had to call again Monday morning and they sent a new technician out. The new technician said it was a faulty switch NOT A THERMOSTAT and fixed the issue. I called the company wanting to speak to the owner about the run around I was given over the weekend. When I spoke to him stating how I paid a weekend service call fee and still had to wait until Monday to complete my service he just stated “well we fixed it today so I’m not sure what you want?” Do not even bother with this company unless you want to pay for unnecessary “fixes” and then have to twist their arm to fix the real issue.
