Description of Work: We were first contacted back in October 2009 by Serpaco. They wanted to schedule a time with us for them to come out and give us an estimate on any exterior or interior painting work that we needed. Ironically, at that time, we were talking about getting a few estimates from paint companies, so this was perfect timing. Serpaco arranged for Pat (Patrick) to come out to our home and estimate the work to be done. Pat ran about 30 minutes late for the appointment, with no phone call. I walked him through the inside of the house to show him what we were considering having done, and also explained what we were considering having done outside. After he finished measuring and taking notes inside, he went outside to measure and document what needed to be done. Before leaving, he said he would email me with an estimate within the following day for the entire job. WE DID NOT HEAR BACK from Pat or Serpaco FOR A WEEK. At that time, Pat left a voice message explaining that he would like to discuss the estimate. We decided not to call back, because of the their lack of professionalism and responsiveness. It wasn't until recently (January, 2010) that we decided we are ready to have some painting and carpentry work completed inside and outside our home. I signed onto Angie's List to start making calls for estimates. I read the great reviews about Serpaco, so I called a few days ago to make an appointment for an estimate. Forgetting that I had this bad experience with Serpaco and Pat back in October, I was optimistic about Serpaco and what they say they offer. When making the appointment with Serpaco Tuesday night, I asked the following questions and got the answers (in brackets) from Serpaco: 1. How long will the estimate take (1 hour +/-) 2. Do you do carpentry work (yes, we hire subcontractors to complete carpentry work, and it will be part of the complete estimate) 3. When will we receive the complete estimate (either at the end of the estimate/appt. or within an hour after the estimate/appt., but if the carpentry work has to be estimated by the carpenter that part will be provided separate) 4. How will I receive the estimate (via email) 5. If we have any questions, how do we contact Pat (via cell phone - was provided Pat's cell number) 6. How responsive is Pat if we have to leave a voice message (he will call back within a few hours after we leave a message) 7. Does he also check email (yes, he will provide you with his email address before he leaves the estimate appt.). The appointment was scheduled for Wednesday at 10am. I called Serpaco on Wednesday at 8am to reschedule the appointment from 10am to later in the afternoon. They were happy to accommodate, and the new appointment was scheduled for that same day at 1pm. WELL, 1pm came and went. Pat never showed up. I called Pat's cell number at 1:30pm, and he explained that he has a newborn and had to take her to the doctor because she was sick. I understood, being a new mother myself. We agreed to reschedule the appointment for today, Saturday 1/23/2010 at 12pm. AT 12pm TODAY, I get a phone call from Pat explaining that he has a family emergency and has to go to the beach, but will be glad to have somebody else call me to reschedule the appointment. I said "NO THANK YOU." I am so disappointed! As a company, it is that companies job to be proactive, stand by their word, and most of all COMMUNICATE in a TIMELY MANNER.
