others did not do replacement gutters at all.
We decided to go with Pioneer Exteriors for a number of reasons:
1. The consistent follow up by the owner of the company, Lynn Pittman.
2. He called ahead to confirm the time/date/day, of the appointment and he was on time for the appointment.
3. He didn't waste our time with a lot of 'sales pitch' or 'glad handing', but he took his time to explain every aspect of the work we needed to have done.
4. Lynn asked us questions as to what we wanted as apposed to telling us what he ?could do for us?. Then he explained the
construction of the doors and why he uses and recommends these particular doors, because of their quality construction and the factory?s attention to detail.
5. He gave us the time we needed (several weeks) to make our decisions with the understanding we were getting several estimates.
6. He sent us a personal hand written note thanking us for calling him and allowing him to be of service to us, even before we had made any purchase (unheard of in today's market place). He restored my faith in the term ?customer service?.
7. In all the time it took for us to make our decisions, get the estimates, and make arrangements for payment for the work, Lynn never rushed us, but consistently checked in to see how we were progressing with our estimates. When the time came and we
had made our decision, he was ready to go.
8. He was patient, thoughtful, courteous, and honest. No double talk, no trying to get us to buy 'up'. He treated us exactly
the way he would want to be treated. Besides everything else, his was the best price for all the work we wanted done.
9. Once we signed the contract, we gave him a down payment and, after his man came out to do exact measurements, the doors were ordered. The balance was due after the work was completed and we were satisfied with what was done.
Our home was built in 1960, so nothing is ever ?standard stock? measurements. Custom measuring had to be done for both doors. Because we have such a long house, (a ranch style), and to allow for the slope of the roof, the gutters and downspouts had to be wide enough to carry off the rain successfully, without having rain spilling over the gutters, as it has been doing.
We waited for over a month for the doors to be custom built. Once the doors arrived, the weather turned wet and rainy so I called the shop and requested they put the work on hold for a couple of days.
The work began Oct. 6 and was completed on Oct. 9, due to mutual scheduling conflicts and the weather. I didn't want the men working outside in the rain trying to install anything.
The tear out of the old doors was a 'bear cat' to do, very labor intensive, due to the type of construction of our home. On one of the doorways, the threshold had to be completely torn out and reconstructed using concrete, because once the old door and steel frame were removed, the new doorway would not fit properly without reconstructing the threshold.
Jeromy Hoadley removed the old, hollow core, side entrance door, cut/tore out the old steel frame, along with breaking down the old concrete threshold and pouring a new concrete threshold. He installed the replacement frame, shimmed and insulated all the sides and installed the door. Then he did the storm door. He obviously knew what he was doing. Every time I came in to check on how things were going, or asked questions, he told me what he was doing and kept repeating that any job worth doing is worth doing the right way. He was excellent in his skills, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The new door not only looks fantastic, but has reduced the noise filtration from outside to zero and increased the insulation factor by 10x, thanks to the snug fit and insulation core of the new door, together with having a new storm door.
Joe White did the tearing out of the old gutters, which were not actually old, as much as poorly installed and the wrong size to begin with. They had been installed only 3-4 years ago but they were done by someone who passed himself off as a ?handy man?, who claimed he had done a variety of jobs in construction and building and knew how to install gutters, what size we needed, etc, all of which proved to be totally false. Everything from the size of the gutters, the size of the run off down spouts, the slant of the gutters, etc. were all wrong. As a result, we wound up having more rain overflowing out of the gutters, with no gutter guard covers, and tree debris stopped up the rain spouts, than we ever had successful removal of the rain off the roof.
This problem has all been resolved, beautifully!
Besides resolving this huge problem, we also decided to have a permanent metal casing installed over the fascia boards called ?wrapping?, to protect the wood from needing to be painted, future wood rot, etc. This was decided on after the contract was signed so there was, of coarse, additional expense for this, but the finished product and long term protection of the wood was all well worth the cost. We now have perfectly spaced, perfectly slanted gutters, with gutter guard covers, sealed fascia boards, and now I can successfully use my rain barrels! Plus NO more gutter cleaning!!!!
The gutters and guards have already proven to be invaluable. Right after they were finished installing everything, we had a terrific downpour that night. I was able to go out and see all the rain running off and carried away by the gutters, and there was no debris from the trees to deal with. The gutter guards worked perfectly and the rain barrels were full!
Joe White and Thomas Smith worked together to install the new gutters and the patio door, which was also a ?bear cat? to remove, because of the steel frame from the original door. Thomas has been with the company since1960, when Pioneer Exteriors first began and which ironically, is the same year our home was built. Thomas is the shop foreman and he obviously knows his ?stuff?. The work took all day to do, but the door works beautifully and looks perfect! I couldn?t be more pleased with the over all job!
Pioneer Exteriors has earned their reputation because of the quality products they represent and sell, and the quality of the installation work they do. They are successful because of the teamwork and all the men's constant attention to detailed work along with the constant mindset of ?doing the job right the first time?, as Jeromy kept saying. Lynn Pittman has the courteous, old fashioned attitude of treating the customer in the same way he wants to be treated, with honesty and trustworthiness. He does what he says he's going to do. Mike, the shop's project manager, is as kind and courteous over the phone as he is in person. Over all, Pioneer Exteriors is just a great group of professional people who I can highly recommend to anyone needing to have work done on their home. The products lines they represent are high quality and expertly made. Pioneer's team spirit of 'can do' and cooperation and follow-up with the homeowner is priceless in this day of 'instantaneous' everything. I'd lots rather have them take their time and do the job the right way and then we are all satisfied, than to get it done 'snap, snap' and to be calling back to complain because of problems. Finding and having expert skilled crafts people doing the work right and taking their time to get the job done correctly the first time, is worth everything.
In our instantaneous gratification world, where far too many things are made to self-destruct in short order, I'm so pleased to know there are still people like Lynn, Jeromy, Thomas and Joe, who care about
"We always strive to do our best, and always treat the customer as we would want to be treated. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Mrs [removed member name]. It means so much to all of us to have such a happy customer. We are very proud of all our employees, and a review like this is what makes us continually strive to do the best we can, at a reasonable price. Thank you so much for your business, and please call in the future if we can be of further service!"
