All went well until we neared the end of the contract. We were contacted by them to ask if we were considering renewal. We explained that we were evaluating the possibility of leasing chillers for all of our offices from one provider and that we would like for them to submit a proposal. We also asked if our current contract had an auto-renewal clause. They said yes, and that we were already inside the 60 days notice requirement, but not to worry... they would make sure the contract would not auto-renew as long as we sent them written notice immediately. We did, and they acknowledged receipt in writing. We then compared their proposal with proposals from three other firms and ultimately selected someone else. When we notified them of our decision, they acted as though our conversation about the auto-renewal had not taken place, and they refused to honor our written contract termination. We returned the equipment, but they continued to invoice us over the next eight months. We contacted them several times and proposed a partial pay to resolve the matter, but they would not call us back. They ultimately sent a notice of default demanding payment. We called them several times again to offer to work together to get the matter resolved in a way that would leave us both happy. They did not call us back. We sent the payment they demanded because we were weary from the long-term disagreement.
Description of Work: We leased two water chillers for our office for a term of 60 months. The company provided service and maintenance for the units during that period.

Response from Gray & Creech Inc
The member's company signed a contract with Gray & Creech several years ago. However, the accounting that he submitted to Angie's List is totally wrong and specifically worded to cast us in poor light. He detailed events that never took place or have been greatly exaggerated. He has no recourse since Gray & Creech completely upheld it's part of the contract. He finally satisfied the contract, by his own admission, to avoid a legal fight. His only option was to post a complaint here, in a forum where the truthfulness of his statements will never be challenged, he will never be asked to produce evidence and he has full anonymity to hide behind. Were his accounts truthful, he certainly would have pursued this in the courts, unfortunately for him the courts require proof. This is simply a cowardly cheap shot.
