Good company. They follow up accordingly and stand by their words. Ultimately, service was not required and company was very accommodating during the process.

The problem was diagnosed and the part was ordered from the warehouse. The repair was completed the next day. The technician explained several features on the oven that I was not aware of, which was very helpful.

Earlier this summer (July) I called Capital Appliance Repair to have them check on a noise my refrigerator made when dispensing water. The repairman came just a little late, but would have called except that the man in the office had been getting the numbers wrong so he couldn't call. My phone number on the invoice was wrong by one digit. He told me there was an easy fix-just twist the filter in and out a few times. That often works. Cost $75. If not, a more expensive fix would be to replace the ice maker housing. The easy fix did work temporarily. So, I called again on Oct. 18 for another appointment. I was told there would be some here between 10-12 on Tuesday, Oct 22. By 1:30 PM I called to find out what had happened. They had no record of my call and obviously no appointment had been made. They couldn't get to me that afternoon and said that they would get in touch with me to set up another appointment. I am still waiting to hear from them on Oct. 31! Thankfully though I have called another company and the ice maker housing has been replaced.
Description of Work: Explained that the noise I was hearing was from the refrigerator was the ice maker housing.

I called yesterday and was happily surprised that someone could come today. The technician was prompt and polite. He took my dryer apart to find that 2 dryer sheets and a hotel room card were stuck in the fan blocking air flow making the noise (and my dryer run hot). He oiled the wheel the belt is on to help the dryer run more efficiently. Then, he put it back together. He cut my exhaust hose to the right length before he plugged it back in. I will hire them again. Very nice.

I called Thursday the 26th to make an appointment to have an oven fixed in my rental unit. They said the earliest the could come out is on Monday the 30th. During the call the person setting the appointment asked what she thought the issue was and if I had a model number for the oven. I explained that the bake heating element was broken and the oven was an RCA brand but there wasn't a model number to be found. They explained a couple places I could check, all of which I had previously looked - but with the age of the oven it was either not on there anymore or it had worn off. It was explained that it would probably then require two trips to the home - one to double check that the problem was the heating element and get the exact part number then a second trip after the part was obtained. Then today a man, who I presume is the owner, called and demanded the model number of the unit otherwise he couldn't do his job. He stated if I didn't give it to him it would require him to do twice the work as he would have to drive there then go back and get a part then drive back. I explained that I looked the last time I was there and couldn't find it. I also explained that the tenant in the unit didn't speak English so he couldn't just explain/talk to them where to look either. He then demanded the number for the tenant and claimed he would get someone on the phone that spoke English. I told him that wouldn't work. He barked some more where this was going to cost him more time and more money to do the job. I let him know I was hiring him to do the job, and that I was told the diagnostic fee covered determining the problem, ordering parts if necessary and then fixing it. And that if it mean two trips for him then that was his problem as it was covered under the fee for doing the job. He barked some more at me. I directly told him I was paying him to do the job and if he didn't want to do it, he would not get my business. He then told me he didn't want the job and he told me to f*ck off. What wonderful professionalism from a small business, NOT! I picked this provider because of the numerous reviews he had on Angie's List. Maybe he was having a bad day, who knows, but this is not a way to treat a customer. When I made the appointment it was clearly explained what is and is not covered. As someone who owns multiple rental units I have become accustom to clearly asking detailed questions to contracts about what is and is not covered and what the costs are. If he doesn't like his own polices, then I suggest he changes them and be more clear up front about what they do and don't cover instead of using profanity at clients. In my couple of years in the rental business, this is the first time I needed an appliance repair company. I was looking forward to finding one I could use for years to come. But based off the companies complete lack of respect and use of profanity at a potential customer, I will never do business with them again.

Response from Capital Appliance Repair
Well he's basically correct. I did call and ask (NOT DEMAND) the model number. I told him that this was a fairly simple call but if there was no model number we would need to pull the part, go to the parts wholesaler in Garner and match it up and then return and install the part. And also that there was no way we could run this call (on the far side of Durham) for just the service call fee and the 20% markup on a $40 part. He then proceeded to tell me what I was and wasn't going to do for the $75.00 dollar service call fee and that he was the customer and what he said goes. I patiently told him it would literally be a money losing proposition for us under those conditions. He was not pleased and went into a rant about how I had already agreed to do it (which I had not!) and that I was now obligated. Then I told him... well what I told him. Here's the thing, in business one will eventually and inevitably come across unreasonable people, unbalanced people (for lack of a better term) and dishonest people. They're actually pretty rare, but they're out there and anybody who has ever been in business knows this. So if I can identify the liars, the cheats and the crazies I'll stop the process and not do business with them. That's what happened here, and unfortunately I lost my temper. At Capital Appliance we strive to do a good job for our customers at a reasonable cost, but we will not be dictated to by some loud, obnoxious "lower income housing" landlord. Sorry but he is NOT our kind of customer and I'm not interested in his business.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! August 22, 2013 Thursday ? Jason came to check out gas range oven that would not heat properly. Said it needed a new control panel and temperature control knob. The control panel would take less than one week to get but the knob would take a week to a week and a half. September 4, 2013 Wednesday (1 ½ weeks later) ? Called Capital Appliance ? control panel was in but no knob. Jason would come out on Friday, install control panel and a temporary knob that should work okay until the ?real? knob came. September 6, 2013 Friday ? Jason came, installed new control panel and temporary knob. Drew a diagram to show approximate temperature settings so that I could use oven. Paid $214.82 for control panel and installation. Was told knob should be in the next week and would only cost $7.00. September 9 ? 12, 2013 Tuesday ? Thursday ? Tried using oven with temporary knob but could not get correct temperature so several dinners overcooked. Impossible to use oven with temporary temperature knob. Several calls to Capital Appliance but no knob and didn?t know when it would come in. September 13, 2013 Friday (3 weeks from original service date) ? Jason said that they still had not received knob from their distributor. Gave me the part number for the ?new? knob and assured me that this was the correct part number for the knob for the control panel and he had installed. I found the part online and ordered it. September 17, 2013 Tuesday ? Knob that I ordered arrived. When used on the oven I could not get the correct heat setting. When the temperature control knob said that it was set for 350 degrees the oven temperature was closer to 425 degrees. September 18, 2013 Wednesday ? Called Capital Appliance. Know them that the knob did not work and that I still couldn?t use my oven. They still have not received the knob that they ordered. Capital Appliance said that the oven was working since it was heating! Essentially, having the correct temperature didn?t matter if the oven was heating. Said they would call me back. After 5 pm and no word from Capital Appliance. It has now been 4 weeks since the original service call and my oven still does not work. Capital Appliance refuses to refund the money that I paid for the control panel that does not work! Too make matters even worse, the new gas range that I would want to replace my old one was on sale last week and is no longer on sale. Capital Appliance has cost me close to $400 when you include the lost discount on a new range. I would strongly recommend NOT using this company.

We went out and diagnosed the appliance and it was our determination that it needed a new control board. We advised [member name removed] that this was a revision (mfg. updated) board and it would require a new knob. We told her the board was in the distributor's warehouse and could be acquired quickly but that the knob was a factory order and we weren't sure how long it would take. It could be 10 days it could be 3 months, we just don't know. [member name removed] said that was fine as she “...didn't cook that much”. Our technician informed the customer that we would order the knob from the factory and when it came in we would come back and install both parts. So, about ten days after the initial visit [member name removed] calls and inquires about the parts and the technician tells her that the knob hasn't arrived yet, but if she has to have the stove up and running we can use a temporary knob until the proper knob arrives and that this is not the best of situations but it's all we can do. She opts for the temporary fix. So Jason goes out, installs the new board with the temporary knob, shows her where the approximate temperatures are and even offers [member name removed] an oven thermometer for free, which she declines stating “I don't trust them”. So, last week we were contacted by the customer and told that she had guests arriving on Friday and her stove was still not working properly as she could not determine the temperature and that if she knew how long this would take she would have opted to buy a new appliance. Therefore would we please come get our part and refund her money. I informed her that no we could not as this was an expensive electronic part that could not be returned unless defective and that she had been informed of this prior to installation. I also told her we had done everything within our power to accommodate her and that we were sorry but we have no control whatsoever over factory ordered parts and the knob would be here when it gets here. She asked for the knob part number which we gave her and from what I understand she ordered the part herself (from Lord knows where). But the stove still is not on temp. And as it happens her factory ordered knob arrived this week (which we were obligated to accept and pay for) but she's not interested because she bought a non-OEM part and lo and behold it doesn't work properly so it must be the board and it's all our fault. The fact is we did everything correctly and by the book. We informed her that this could take a while to complete and we keep her informed every step of the way. SHE made the decision to get the repair, NOT US. We have invested a lot of time and effort in getting [member name removed] stove up and running but as I cannot return the board it would be patently unfair for us to pull her board and accept the loss. It's crystal clear to me that she regrets her decision to have her appliance fixed and wishes to buy new. However we cannot and will not be held responsible for her choices. Greg Dail

Clint came to the house in a timely fashion, identified the problem with our washing machine and fixed the problem. He was also willing to stay a bit longer and answer our questions about other our other aging appliances. He gave us great tips about brands we should look for when we need to replace our aging appliances in the future and about ways we can keep our appliances running better for longer. Totally Satisfied!

I called for service and was mistaken as to the problem. I did say the washer was still usable. I was told that one of the serviceman in my area was on vacation but they would fit me in the next day. I said it was not an emergency as it was a slow leak and ran into a catch pan. He said he would send the serviceman ( Clint ) out anyway. Very good customer service. The serviceman arrived on time. He arrived with a trainee who was very helpful. From the minute Clint walked in the door he acted like he wanted to be anywhere but working. It was very apparent as soon as he looked at the washer he would do anything to get out of this job. He was very rude and actually made my wife more angry than I've seen her in over our 42 years of marriage. The worst comment he made was, " Who would be STUPID enough to buy a wash machine from a company that makes T.V.s ? ". He whined and complained the entire time about having to work on a washer he thought was made by bad engineers. I became determined he was going to finish the job. He did everything he could to not have to take off the front panel . It was clear to me that the problem would require the front to be removed. He finally did after wasting time and energy trying to avoid it. The job could have been done in half the time. He also complained about the water pressure because in testing the washer it was filling up too slow for him. Again if he stopped trying to get out of the job he wouldn't be so worried about the fill up time. The trainee told me how to adjust my water pressure and was the positive helpful one. Clint told me the gasket material to fix the washer was not available. The alternative to the gasket was to seal it with silicon caulk. I felt I had no better answer so I got my silicon caulk and he filled it in. The leak was actually from the soap dispenser tray case. The washer still leaks but not nearly as bad. I don't ever want them back in my house again so I didn't call them back about it. I waited and gave it much thought before writing this review. This company has a good record so I'm hesitant to give them a bad rating. I don't know what Clint's problem was that day but he should know by now you can't pick only easy jobs unless you own the company. Company's don't need servicemen who make them look bad ! THIS IS THE ONLY TIME I HAD A PROBLEM USING ANGIE"S LIST IN MANY YEARS.

Unfortunately that sounds just like Clint. About twice a year (usually in the summer) he has a particularly trying day, gets overwhelmed and forgets himself. I apologize for his unprofessional behavior and would just say this is not typical for him, or any of our technicians. Call me and we'll give you a full refund. Again we apologize.

Thanks for the "F" (Member name removed). If I understand you correctly, you wish to damage our company reputation because we no longer service Angier (which is a hour and twenty minute drive there and back) and this is extraordinarily inconvenient for you as you feel entitled to service by our company. Your reasoning seems to be because we once went to Angier we are obligated to go there forevermore. The fact is we lose money on these kinds of calls. We have all the work we can handle in Raleigh and surrounding areas and since this is a commercial enterprise we cannot afford the expense of going to Angier (opportunity cost + transportation cost). Harnett County is not in our service area. We do not advertise in Harnett County nor has Harnett County ever been in our service area. If we ran a call there it was because we were sent there by an insurance company, moving company, home warranty company etc. I regret we were unable to help you and I also regret you feel the need to take your frustration out on us, especially when you obviously were happy with our service in the past.

Jason knew he was going to have to order the part from out of the city, pick it up and make a second call to my home to repair the stove. The stove is an older model and it had been in this shape longer than I wanted before getting it fixed. Jason was pleasant and professional to say the least. He had to postpone coming back the first time, but arrived the next day ready to take care of the problem. He had it in within a matter of a short time and my stove was back in position, ready to use. Jason made my experience with Capital Appliance very pleasant and I have to add, helped this older woman deal with another problem above and beyond the call of his duty. I truly appreciated him. Thanks for EVERYTHING, Jason! I highly recommend this company because of my experience and will gladly call them again, if necessary, for other related appliance repairs!

They didn't respond to one of the phone numbers listed on Angie's list, turns out it was the office phone number and it was a Saturday/Sunday (I tried to call both days). Turns out it was the office number but it wasn't designated as such on the website. They returned my call on Sunday (guess they checked their messages) and came over the next day, showed up in an unmarked vehicle, but the tech was courteous and efficient.. It didn't take him ten minutes to diagnose the problem, which tells me its a very common issue with refrigerators. He did not have the part however and would have to come back the next day after they received the part from their warehouse. He called before he came on Tuesday and showed up on time; it took less than ten minutes to fix. My only real issue is paying $90 for what amounts to a $15 part, I don't mind paying the service charge or the labor, they obviously know what they're doing and are very dependable, but I feel the mark-up on the part was excessive, though definitely cheaper than a new refrigerator. i'm sure Cash's Appliances or D&L would have had the part in stock.

"My only real issue is paying $90 for what amounts to a $15 part." (Member name removed) that relay cost us $50.00 plus, and considering I offer a lifetime warranty on the part, the markup was reasonable. I don't deny you might find a knockoff relay online for $15.00, although that sounds too low (lots of counterfeit parts out there these days). But we only use OEM parts as it is not in our interest to use cheap parts because... WE OFFER A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON PARTS.

Impressed that Sid arrived right on time the morning after my call the day before. He explained what he was doing and checked to see that the machine was balanced on the spin cycle (as imbalance was likely the cause of the cracked water inlet pipe) before he left. All was fixed in about 30 min. I thought the price was fair.
Description of Work: Technician, Sid, checked out the leak in my GE front loading washing machine. He found the problem--a crack in the water inlet pipe-- in about 20 minutes. Where do you live? We pretty much cover the Triangle area and we can normally get to you within a day or two. But do you think its fair to rate some company you haven't in fact done business with? You're hurting our reputation just because you're out of our service area? Sounds petty and small minded to me.

He replaced a couple of parts that needed replacing, but could not locate the wiring diagram to check the wiring. Unfortunately, he couldn't find the problem and thus couldn't repair the dryer. He was very prompt and courteous. I believe he truly did the best he could. My husband found the wiring diagram in the dryer and was able to repair the dryer w/i a couple of hours.
