The auto voicemail I received instructed me that it was very important that I call the office because their pricing is changing and if I don't call they'll just bill me at a much higher rate. So I called and after several failed attempts due to busy signals I finally got a very unprofessional "customer service" person who proceeded to read a script to me about how they are changing their service and will have to charge me an additional $350 if I wish to continue using their service as I have been for the last 5 years. When I asked her pointed questions about what was going on, she just backed up and read the script to me again. This is no way to treat a long term customer that has referred many others to them. I told them to please cancel my service as I prefer not to do business with businesses that lie to me. I followed it up with a letter. Something is amiss at ValuePest. If you choose to use them be warned that they will not appreciate any loyalty or referrals.

The Technician who served our home was very professional & really made many attempts to over come the poor quality products ValuePest uses. There were many attempts made to eliminate ant problems in two locations which are still problems. I maintained ValuePest coverage based on the technicians efforts. The reason I ended the service today is due to the total LACK of PROFESSIONALISM demonstrated by the Company's office personnel & management. -On Monday 09/10/12, a call from the ValuePest office was received by me telling me that a recent change in the costs for the termite monitoring stations were either going to make my current charges soar 0r a $300.00 a liquid barrier would need to be installed & the stations removed. Without hearing any of this before, I told the company I would need to think about this change. Immediately after ending the prior call, I received a another call stating that our Quarterly Service was scheduled for Friday 09/14/12. I told the representative to not schedule any service until i called them back. -Today 09/12/12 we received another call from ValuePest stating that they had been trying since Mar. 2012 to inform us of the service change. The representative went on to say "this must be done right away" or the higher charges would be billed if nothing was heard by the company. The problem is this company has not informed me of the changes until THIS WEEK (09/10-14/2012), yet he claims to have attempted to contact us since 03/2012. During this same period ValuePest performed two quarterly pest services at my home without any such notification. My home phone number is the same as that which they have called us since 2007 and was able to make calls to us both Monday & Today. Therefore, no such effort was made to notify me of these changes. I called the Office at 11:45 as the message had instructed me to do and I asked for the Representative as instructed. The person who answered asked for my phone number & promptly hung up. I waited 20 minutes& recalled, the phone service person told me that the Rep. was still on the phone. I informed the ValuePest phone service person of how I was returning a call to them, on how I was previously hung up on, and how I wanted a prompt return call. 2 1/2 hours later and no return call received , I again called and told the ValuePest phone service person that ValuePest did not value my 5 1/2 years of using their company, I did not appreciate the HIGH PRESSURE TACTICS for sales changes, and to end my service. I also told the same to have the company remove the monitoring stations, but they were informed not to damage my property or I would sue. The previous struggles to correct ant problems, the HIGH PRESSURE tactics, and the total Lack Of PROFESSIONALISM by the Office & Management makes ValuePest a company I will not use again and DO NOT reccommend to anyone.

We apologize for any miscommunication that you may have received. For the last 4 years the area in which you live was serviced by an independent franchise owner. We have been reaching out to our customers since March concerning the change in service to allow our customers to decide if they wish to continue their current service at a higher cost or switch to a more affordable option. In areas that are franchised we do this outreach through those franchisees. This particular franchisee apparently did not pass the information along to our customers in his area. Once we determined that he was not following our specifications his franchise was terminated. For this we apologize for any misunderstanding and we wish you well in finding another service provider. Theresa has a major attitude and is need of serious attitude ADJUSTMENT. Taking money out of customers accounts BWFORE services and without my consent. And it took a good hour to get her to agree to credit my acct. Don't waste your time....there's a reason its cheaper.

The member contracted with our company in June to provide Quarterly Pest Control services for her home. At that time she provided us with her credit card information and her approval to charge her card for each quarterly service. Her next regular service was scheduled for the month September. As is customary, on September 1st we charged her September service fee to her card. The member called our office complaining that she did not authorize this charge. She insisted that she wanted the money put back on her card the same day and that she wanted to cancel her service. Our office immediately complied with her wishes by refunding her money and canceled her service the same day. The member never informed us of any continuing pest problem. I hope that this fully satisfies her.

I scheduled a Friday appointment for pest inspection and made arrangements to work from home to let the inspector into my house. The morning of the day scheduled for inspection, Value Pest called to inform me the inspector had been overbooked and would not be able to make it that day. I rescheduled for next Friday, will make arrangements to work from home again and have my fingers crossed that this inpection proceeds as planned.

UPDATE: A couple months after service, the outdoor spray does not seem to be working on spiders, skinks, lizards, frogs, or anything in this size range. I had to go to Tractor Supply and buy another spray to do this myself. Called today(Oct 2) to cancel quarterly service and I was told it voids the warranty! What a sketchy business pest services run... Please read all reviews and make sure that you are willing to stick with the company under a contract or the service in my two cents "is not recommended". Pay a little more and go with a company who actually warranties their service. This is the first time for me to go against my gut reaction and I probably will hesitate in the future. This doesnt help when trying to sell your home and transfer the termite treatment.
Description of Work: Had Valuepest come out for pest extermination, rodent proofing, and termite treatment as part of the "whole house" treatment. They werevery professional upon arrival and even showed an hour ahead of the scheduled appt. time. Very detailed description of the services performed and took his time to complete the service, right.

Seems simple - it was not. When they called to set up the appointment, I was told by the scheduler that they would not provide service to people who rent their home. I now have to get a refund from Angies list and find another provider. Not happy. They should disclose this strange stipulation on their coupon and in their description.

The bill was to be paid at closing. Closing was delayed a few months. Value Pest turned me in to collecitons although they told me it could be paid at closing.Bills were coming to the house but we were not getting them. I spoke with owner and he was rude. We provided an inspection and an invoice that was clearly marked, "Due Upon Completion." We gave the customer 30 days to remit the payment. We mailed the customer statements for 5 months and she failed to pay the bill. We are sorry that her closing was delayed by her bank, but it is her fault that her account was turned over for collection.

I would use ValuePest again for future pest treatments.
Description of Work: ValuePest came out to perform a termite treatment and inspection. The technician arrived on time and applied the treatment around the perimeter of our crawl space. The service was insured and the company offers annual reminders and "check-ups" which is a plus. My only complaint would be that the company called to reschedule our initial appointment and then tried to reschedule again for an earlier date soon after we'd scheduled a new appointment for the earliest time we were available. Offering an earlier time isn't in itself a bad thing, it's just that scheduling seemed like more work than necessary. Great price and great service overall though.

As stated above; technicians were early did an analysis of the property and visual check for termites. Swept exterior doors and window of debri then sprayed. Interior treatment was very limited to a few corners. Tech's were courteous and alerted me that it may take 2-3 days to take effect and that I may even see an increase of activity due to the treatment. Others contract services were mentioned to me, but no sales push - thankfully. However, one week later, I am still seeing spiders in various locations. I called the company and was told there was no guarantee with the service and that for $75 I could enter a quarterly pest control contract. So I'm very disappointed and feel that I wasted my time and money with this "one time" service. I'm not sure if I was aware from the listing that there was no warranty; I do not think I would have purchased this service without feeling like the company would ensure my satisfaction.

After paying for the service, I called Value Pest to schedule the treatment. First they scheduled a date that had already past. I called to clarify. Then Value Pest made and broke another appointments at great inconvenience to the tenants whom I was striving to keep happy. Since I'm military out of the area and Value Pest apparently needed some supervision, I contacted my Realtor. My Realtor coordinated with Value Pest and the tenants in the hope that Value Pest could simply show up at the agreed upon time. I forwarded my Realtor a receipt and contract with Value Pest that clearly specified interior and exterior service and one million dollar bond. She met with their representative at the site. The Value Pest representative told her the service only included an exterior treatment and 25K bond (contrary to the ad, contract, and receipt). I was notified, called Value Pest, referenced the contract and invited them to complete the service they'd contracted to complete. Instead, they acted like children and said they weren't going to do anything. Angieslist, helped me obtain a return of the $399 I'd paid. I'm very grateful to them. I later learned that as a condition of receiving the help of Angieslist to obtain a refund, one cannot rate a service provider lower than "B". Angie's list is a great service so I gratefully adhere to the "B" minimum policy (unlike some, I honor contracts) but I'd recommend not using this out-of-state pest company. Thanks and God Bless.

Member did purchase our $399 termite service and paid for the service on the Angie's List website. He then had a realtor call us to schedule the service because the house was up for sale. The service Member purchased was a completely different service, with a different warranty than what is customarily purchased by realtors. This is where the confusion came in. ValuePest.com, at no time ever received any of Member's money. Angie's List was directly paid for the purchase and once ValuePest.com learned that Member was unhappy with his purchase, we notified Angie's List to refund his money. It took them a few days to make the refund.

Updated on July 17, 2012 - I changed my rating for this company from an "F" to a "B". I would have given them an "A" if it wasn't for my previous experiences (see the post below). After my post, I was contacted by a Value Pest Manager. He was apologetic about my experience and offered to refund my money. In addition, he offered me a free service visit which was above and beyond what I expected. The explanation he gave me for my experience seemed genuine and my free service on July 13th was excellent. The service technicians were on time, knowledgable and efficient. I was told that the owner of the company reads these reviews and uses them to make the company better. If so, "well done Sir"!! June 13, 2012 - I purchased pest control for the interior and exterior of my house through an Angie's List Deal for this company. Originally, I received a message from this provider that I would be contacted to schedule an appointment. I waited 2 days, which I thought was reasonable, and then called. I scheduled the first appointment for June 13th (and arranged to be off work that day). On June 12th, I received a voicemail message informing me that my appointment was changed to June 15th. Since that day didn't work for me, I called again to schedule another appointment time/date. I rescheduled my appointment for the following Friday, June 22nd at 4pm. On June 21st, I received a voicemail message informing me that my appointment was changed to June 25th for anytime between 9-4. I called again to say I can't possibly stay home all day and wait on a technician. The lady I spoke to said that the system indicated that I had a 4pm appointment and that I should meet the technician at that time. So on June 25th, I left work early to meet the technician. When I arrive home, I see a note on the door from the technician (who arrived around 1pm). The note said something like "you weren't home so you need to call to reschedule". I picked up the phone immediately to call them and this time a different lady answered the phone. I told her that I had a 4pm appointment but the technician showed up at 1pm. She tells me that the technician didn't know that a specific time had been scheduled so he came when he was available. I shared that another lady confirmed my 4pm appointment on the previous week. She then tells me the lady made a mistake and didn't note my specific appointment date in the system. Then she says you need to schedule another appointment. I shared with her that this was the third time they cancelled, changed or "messed up" my appointment. She said I'm sorry.......and that was it. She didn't ask if she could reschedule, she didn't try to accomodate me because of their mistake. I am so very disappointed by the level of service I received from this company. I have decided not to use them. I'm losing $50, but I lost that in gas and time missed from work.

We spoke to the member and apoligized for our error's, We are giving her a full $49.95 refund and have scheduled a free service for July 13th with our Charlotte service manager. She said that she was happy with our response. She also said she thought something was wrong since we are so highly reccommend on Angie's List. She was happy with the outcome of the call.

I am a Realtor and a Property Manager, and have called Value Pest on many occasions, including when I need someone to treat my own home. They are consistently professional, prompt, and competitively priced. In this instance, a routine home inspection showed signs of carpenter ants around a tree and a shed (both away from the house). Value Pest agreed to treat only those 2 areas and re-inspect the rest of the home for $90. Mike arrived on time and did a thorough job. Even though he didn't find any more ants, he also treated the side of the home nearest the tree just to make certain, even though that was more than what was agreed on. He did not charge extra for the additional service.
Description of Work: Inspected for carpenter ants and treated 3 areas - around a tree, around a shed, and along the north side of a house.

There was once or twice that we saw ants on the inside of the home. However, they came out immediately and took care of it. We also had a problem with swarming termites but they took care of that and we had no problems since. They always gave a heads up the day before the appointment. They were also good with punctuality

Justin and Chris came to the house promptly and started their evaluation and inspection. They drew out the house plan. They dug a trench around the house and then treated all areas. They were here a good 3 hours. They also sprayed for pests. They were very thorough and very professional.
Description of Work: Changed Termite Companies after 10 years. Old company would not renew service unless they retreated. I checked around and decided to go with Value Pest as they were more reasonable and also offered quarterly pest control which I would pay for quarterly and they would come out and treat for pests.

My initial experience was horrible. The inspector didn't want to treat the inside of the house. Then told me to show him each window and he would spray that and nothing else. He tried to get me to pay him the $49 several times even though I paid through Angie's list. Needless to say, the millipedes and spiders laughed at the treatment. Valuepest contacted me and a different person came out who spent extensive time putting down pesticide outside and cleaning out cobwebs and spider webs. Then he came inside and did baseboards and windows. He did a good job. Then I contacted ValuePest to see about a contract for my house and a rental house in Charlotte. Valuepest told me they will not do my rental house. I don't know how a company expects to a client to hire one company for one house and have to hire another company for their other houses. UPDATE: Since the Company did contact me and send out a better service technician who did a good job, I upgrade to a C as an average of the two visits.
Description of Work: I paid for an Angie's List Deal Whole House Pest Treatment. They came and did the outside and around my windows inside. After I was dissatisfied they came and did inside more thoroughly and outside again.

Although we never like hearing that one of our team members has not lived up to our level of expectations it is a good example for us to use when we teach our new people what NOT to do. Today I will personally contact the customer and do whatever it takes to satisfy her.
