There was some delay in starting the work, due to other obligations in his work, but once we nailed down a day, Blake and his crew were at our house bright and early, just as scheduled. Work was completed within the week (they started on a Wednesday; rain, the weekend, and more rain meant the finishing touches were finished on Tuesday). We were very happy with the speed and efficiency of his crew, as well as the professionalism of the finished product. Blake was knowledgeable and always willing to work with us to make sure we were satisfied. We are very happy with our new patio, and we will definitely be calling Blake for future landscaping/hardscaping projects!
Description of Work: Blake replaced our old paver-patio with a new, expanded one and regraded our back yard to fix some drainage issues. In the course of the project, he also installed a drainage pipe for our HVAC condensation and seeded the yard.

Blake was extremely prompt, responsive and professional from the very beginning. He has an expertise that is comforting and helpful. During the work, he discovered other issues that came up- that he was not repsonsible for, but offer to fix at little or no cost. This was above and beyond what he needed to do. I would recommend his company without reservation and am very happy that we went with him. We will be having landscaping done in the future through his company the money we spent was well worth what we got and our lawn looks great!

I saw the reviews on Angies List and decided to contact Blake for an estimate. He was on time and very knowledgable. Blake also suggested a place near our house to check out paver samples. We met up again to review a sketch of the patio/landscape then we scheduled a day for them to start the work once the application with HOA was approved. Blake is laid back but overall he has always responded to our questions/requests. The work took a little more than a week to finish. Although we have had our doubts in the process because the patio looked a lot bigger than we had anticipated at one point, but everything turned out very beautifully. We are particularly impressed at how beautiful the landscape around the patio turned out to be. We have had at least half a dozen neighbors stopping by and they all loved it.
Description of Work: 700 ft2 pavers patio in the back. Reroute irrigation line. Put down 1000 ft2 sod in the backyard. Design and landscape around a section of the patio.

My experience was aweful. While I did, and still do like and respect Blake, the job was atrocious. Blake came out and looked at the site. Maybe I was expecting more landscape design suggestions and some kind of a design plan. He told me there were only two type of 'stone' (concrete) that he could use in the area, but that one would be too short. So I really thought I had no choice - but I trusted that he was the professional designer and knew what he was talking about. NOTE TO USERS - HAVE THE LANDSCAPER SHOW YOU THE MATERIAL BEFORE INSTALLATION! Blake told me that the 'stone' looked like real rock but was cheaper. He DID send me a website with pictures, but it's difficult to see size and shape from pictures - it did look good for the large retaining walls seen in the photos. But, in my backyard, they were being used for small edges. None of the pictures showed the rock from above (which is how I would look at them). When I came home the day they'd started the work, I was aghast. Not only was my fence removed (and damaged), but they'd been driving the machines over my yard. I realize that this was necessary, but a little advance warning would have been nice (actually, essential) - by the way, they never repaired the fence. They'd started installing the 'stone' which looked hideous! This 'stone' is meant for a McMansion, not a 1940s bungalow home. It was SO aweful, I was shocked. My quaint backyard looked like a skate park. The concrete blocks were huge and rectangular - so huge that it narrowed an already narrow path so I couldn't get a wheelbarrow through. I was crying, it looked so bad. I called Blake that night and left a message that I wanted everything taken away and I would pay them for the work they'd done. The next day, Blake was clearly upset with me - which I felt was unfair and unprofessional. I agreed to pay the $1000 (yes, $1000 for one day's work - and the materials). He said they wouldn't take back the 'stone' so I would have to buy it. I'm a little confused as to why they can't take back stone that sits on a pallet outside because it's got some dirt on it. So I now I'm stuck with two pallets of ugly 'stone' that's been in my driveway for 2 months and apparently cost $500 (although I bought REAL stone to complete the work, and it cost about the same). And I'm having to install pathways all by myself this summer. By the way, my neighbor came over for 30 minutes and had a beautiful landscape plan all laid out for me. The worst part was, when Blake was leaving the job, he said to me "You should really have had a plan for this work". Quite frankly, that's why I was hiring him!! VERY disappointed. In the landscaper - and in Angie's List.
Description of Work: I wanted a landscaper to help me put in a couple of paths and add a bit of landscaping to a small back yard.

Response from Panoramic Landscapes LLC
I will first start by saying that it is unfortunate that this small job turned into a such a poor experience for both the customer and myself. It is obviously my intention to make every person that we do work for happy and excited about their project. However, this is the first time in seven years which I have owned my business that I was not able to work out a solution with a customer. Also the first time that a customer did not allow us to finish a job and blamed me for the material they agreed to. Upon the first meeting I had with the customer, I knew this job was going to abnormal. She had old red concrete pavers which she told me that she liked and wanted to use that color elsewhere. There was an old rotting timber wall that she wanted to replace. I told her I recommended using a landscape block (Belgard's Celtik wall) with a cap piece since that would match her pavers. I sent her a link to the manufacturers website which has pictures and she said she liked the material and color. So that part of the job was set. We also agreed to do a 3/4” river rock walkway down the side of the house. I suggested this for cost savings and drainage purposes. She agreed to this as well. We also agreed to some drainage work, grading, and shrub removal. The day before the work she changed her mind on the river rock pathway and said she wanted to do that in the same red concrete pavers as what she had in the backyard. So I told her that is a different construction (explained in detail as well) process and costs more. She said that was ok. It's important to mention that her comments suggested I didn't offer her design ideas or suggestions. She is the one who said that she liked the red color and made changes to things I suggested. I also offered landscape ideas on other areas of the property which she did not want to do. So I clearly offered ideas and suggestions, yet she told me what she wanted and never asked for a design. I was simply trying to give the customer what they asked for. I should mention the amount of work that we did on the job. Removed the old timber wall, graded and installed drainage around a shed, removed large overgrown shrubs down one side of the house, excavated and installed a 6” gravel footer for the new wall, had 80% of the wall complete at the end of day one, excavated, installed, and leveled a 6” gravel base for the walkway, hauled off excavated soil (disposal fee), hauled and disposed of yard waste (disposal fee), hauled and disposed of old timbers (disposal fee). I explained to her the construction process and said that we use machinery. There was a 10' long strip of grass (weeds) that we drove the machine over. She didn't allow us to repair this or the one picket on the fence that was cracked. Of course we always take care of these things. We talked the next morning about how she didn't like the color or material (she said the color was horrible, Note: it was exactly the same as her pavers and she chose it). I asked her what she wanted me to do. She said to remove the wall and that she needed time to think about everything. I told her I could not return the wall material since it is a very uncommonly used color and we had to order it. We did pull the entire wall up and neatly set it on pallets for her. We agreed to settle on everything for $1,000 and she would keep the material and try to sell it herself online. I can certainly say that we lost money on this job. Customer obviously does not understand the costs involved in running a business. I gave her an extremely fair settlement (in writing) and she agreed to it. So I would say in closing that it is unfortunate how everything turned out. The customer had a very unusual taste for what she wanted in the landscape. I simply tried to accommodate her tastes. I offered many ideas and suggestions from which she did not want to do. This is again the only project I have ever done where a customer asked me to remove a material and did not allow us to complete a job. I think our record and the other other positive reviews on Angie's List speak to the design and craftsmanship abilities of my company.

The project went great. Blake is great to work with. He is extremely professional and we decided on him as our landscaper after the first meeting. His prices are excellent, his workmanship is great, and he is not afraid to suggest things that would enhance our yard. He was able to handle us adding on things like the pergola and increasing the height of the retaining walls with no problem. His prices are more than fair and he delivers what he says he will do on time and on budget. I would use him again in a minute and I recommend him anytime someone asks about my yard, or a good landscape designer. This year, I have since had him install a couple of deck step lights to finish off the lighting plan.
Description of Work: 3 retaining walls of various heights and lengths, Custom built 16' circular patio with fire pit, custom built 16x 20' rectangular patio with custom built 16x12 Pergola, old concrete walkway removed and new custom front curving brick paver walkway installed, new curving paver walkway to backyard, large paver patio surrounding deck, drip irrigation system installed front, back, and sides, low voltage landscape lighting installed in the back and sides, dry creek bed on side of house, custom Black Basalt column fountain, multiple, plantbeds, plants, and trees, with 8 cu yds of mulch, and a great landscape design.

I used the List to research Blake Seck and Panoramic Landscape, and I fully agree with the very positive reviews here. The job was well done, and the result is simply beautiful. Blake has a small team, but they worked hard for 6 days. They prepared the area well for both the hardscaping and the landscaping and then displayed real skill in the installation. These folks are quite experienced in their craft. Blake's communications with us were excellent, and he always provided options and excellent advice. I could not have imagined a more professionally accomplished job. It exceeded our expections
Description of Work: The company installed two curved paver walkways (4 ft wide), a 12 ft paver circle, about 30 high quality shrubs and two trees, a drip irrigation system, and 3 gutters drainage systems. They also moved some of our existing shrubs to new locations and graded the entire area.

Blake was everything you could ever hope for in a landscape contractor. From the initial consultation through the completed project, he was professional, prompt, and courteous. He listened to our needs, offered his ideas and suggestions and then efficiently executed the plan we had decided upon. Before we met Blake, we had hired an "landscape architect" -- who, for a hefty fee gave us a set of plans that included many problems, not the least of which were plants that wouldn't even grow in this area. We soon realized that we could have saved that expense had we talked to Blake first. Blake has a good eye for layout and design and a tremendous knowledge and love of plants. He has two workers that were are as diligent and hard-working as he.
Description of Work: Refresh/renew/re-do of 15-year-old, tired landscaping. Our project involved a significant revitalization of our approximately 1/3-acre lot and the frontage of our adjoining lot. Old shrubbery and plantings were replaced with new, healthy plants and trees. A rock path and stairs were constructed along the side of the house from front to rear. A rock wall was built around an existing bed in the front of the house. An overgrown natural area in the rear of the house was cleaned out and planted with natural plants. New sod was laid where lawn had become bare.

Description of Work: Blake did a rather extensive job that included regrading a sloping back yard, installing drainage pipe, installing a stone retaining wall, replacing the deck, installing low voltage lighting, and new plants in the front and back of the house. The job took several weeks to complete.

Overall fantastic. Blake worked with us from beginning to end to make sure that we were thoroughly satisfied with the project. He took extra time with me on weekends, including going with me to the home improvement center to make sure that we found a grill that would work for our project. He came back more than once (after the project was completed) to check in to make sure everything was done the proper way. He is very dedicated to customer service. Blake also came up with some innovative solutions to fix an existing drainage problem I had in our side yard.
Description of Work: We completely redid our side yard, expanding out a patio, adding a seat wall with a drop-in grill, adding a walkway out to the driveway, and adding in landscaping.

I contacted Blake in the spring about redoing our landscaping. He came to our house to take a look and discuss what we wanted and took pictures of all of the areas. He recommended that we wait until fall or winter since that is a better time of year to plant. In the fall, he contacted me, came out to our home a second time, drew up plans and gave us an estimate that was well below other landscapers. He also worked with us to make sure we liked all of the trees and bushes he recommended. He did a beautiful job and I couldn't be more pleased with his work. We would, and will, hire him again in a second and we have told all of our friends about his great work, professionalism, extensive knowledge and fabulous prices.

We are adding a sunroom to the back of our house. The project includes two patios, one on each side of the sunroom, with a connecting walkway from the driveway to one of the patios and a 20' curved wall(18" high)on the other patio. Blake was very prompt and professional, and I am very happy with the results. My only regret is that I did not have Blake install a connecting walkway between the two patios, so I have asked him to come back.

Blake is excellent at his craft. He knows what will grow well and thrive in North Carolina. My backyard is predominantly shady and he suggested plants that would work well and look great. Blake came over took measurements, took pictures and asked me many questions. After he gave me the estimate and I accepted he came back over and showed me a sketch of the plantings and then offered his suggestions for which plant types, etc. We then scheduled the work and it was done on the day he said it would at a lower price than estimated, plus he went above and beyond and panted an extra shrub at no charge or cost to me and left me some extra soil that I will use on a small project that I am planning to do my self. Blake also provided many plant names and general tips and care for the small project that I will do my self. Excellent work at an excellent price, I will definitely use Panoramic Landscapes again.

We were absolutely thrilled with the project. Blake really knows his stuff and was wonderful to work with. He listened carefully to our ideas during the planning process. He spent plenty of time with us at each meeting. Blake has great vision when it comes to pulling together the entire project. He was responsive to any questions or concerns that came up during the work. Blake supervised a crew of 2 workers. Everyone worked very hard and was respectful of our home. The work was completed right on time and within budget. The only small issue we had was that in the beginning it was hard to get in touch with Blake. (This is why I gave a B for responsiveness. His responsiveness while on the job is A+.) This is because he is so busy! However, each time he met with us and when he was working on our project, he made us feel like we were his top priority, so it was worth it!
Description of Work: Blake did a 3 part project to totally landscape our backyard. We had a typical new construction house where backyard was a blank slate. Last spring Blake met with us at our home and drew a wonderful landscape design plan. At that time he built a patio and raised stacked stone plant beds. This fall, which is a better time for planting, Blake planted about 30 plants in the raised beds and in another area, and added sod. The price given was for the total project.

WE CAN OFTEN ACCOMMODATE THESE REQUESTS. HOWEVER DUE TO THE DISTANCE TO CHAPEL HILL FOR US, I SAID THAT WE COULD ONLY MEET DURING BUSINESS HOURS (8-5) AND TO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SETUP A TIME. I originally found Panoramic via Angie's List and decided to contact them based on the extremely positive reviews I read here. As far as our project goes, we are extremely pleased with the end result and the entire process. Blake is super to work with and really has an eye for ensuring what he designs fits into the existing structure and surrounding area. The stone work is superb and the care Blake took in preparing the surface is obvious in the final product. We expect to be enjoying the patio for years to come. Blake's budget was right on and he worked extremely hard to meet the schedule he gave us. He is very busy as his work is in demand due to his obvious talent, so be sure to give him the time and space to maneuver and you won't be disappointed. As I told Blake, the patio is just a start. We intend to hire Blake again as we work to transform our backyard.
Description of Work: Panoramic installed a brick paver patio in the back of our home. The patio is approximately 325 sq ft and included a low retaining wall and a small stairway.

I chose Panoramic Landscapes based on Angie's List reviews, and now I have my own glowing recommendation to post. We had an odd situation in our backyard, with an L-shaped patio dropping off to a plain grassy area. I knew I wanted a fountain, but didn't know exactly how it could be integrated into the existing backyard structure. Blake's design skills, creativity, and ability to draft his ideas on paper were absolutely critical to this project's success. I could visualize his plans easily, and felt totally comfortable requesting changes. He was concerned with my opinions and perceptive in picking up on my style preferences. His design was within budget. The final price (excluding things we decided to add to the original design) came very close to estimate, maybe a hair over, which is understandable considering that the fountain was 100% custom built. The project time frame was also a little longer than expected, but we had made it clear that speedy turn-around was not a priority with us ... we gave Blake plenty of time to figure out how the heck to make our fountain from scratch. As consumers, we are easy-going but very particular about the final product. Blake was a perfect match for us in terms of personality, dependability, an delivery of terrific final results. We already have future projects in mind, and would have no reason to consider using any other landscape designer.
Description of Work: Panoramic Landscapes installed a very large custom natural stone fountain in a bed of black river rock, a paver patio with several built in edged planting areas, stone accent walls with spaced pillars, low-voltage lighting, a variety of shrubs and trees, and an extensive wrap-around stone path from the side of the house to the backyard patio.

The owner, Blake, worked with us to design exactly what we wanted to achieve using his knowledge of the best local species to suit. He listened to what we said we wanted and delivered a plan that gave us just that. We worked together to make minor tweaks and the collaboration was great. Installation went well and we very quickly had the plan executed. It looks great and has made a major difference in the appearance of our front yard. Blake's prices are very reasonable, especially when you get what you want. We are talking with him about another project for the back yard.

Blake came out a couple of times to do an estimate and talk about how we might want to do our patio. He gave good suggestions when asked. He had good communication about when he would be starting the project and what would be done. This is a project that tears up the yard pretty good, but he did a pretty good job keeping it in check during the project and cleaning up afterwards. We had him do a retaining wall too as long as he was doing work. All work met or exceeded expectations. Blake is very professional, calm, detailed and fair. Recommend him highly.

This was an excellent company to work with. Blake returned all phone calls and was extremely attentive to detail. There was a cracked stone in the middle of the patio that we hadn't yet mentioned to him. Before we had a chance to point it out, he had removed and replaced it prior to our final inspection. He has great ideas and is worth listening to. We've already asked him to come back and landscape the beds in our front yard by completely tearing them out and starting all over. I don't understand the person who gave him a bad rating for not calling them back at the "correct" number, even though he "did" call back. He didn't even have work done and had no right to rate this company badly for this reason. Blake has done work for two other friends of ours and has done excellent work for them as well. Highly, highly recommend this company!!!
Description of Work: Installation of patio using Belgard pavers. Panoramic installed a patio and decorative sitting wall at the bottom of our deck and screened porch. Prior to installation of the patio, there was nothing there but bare dirt. They showed up as scheduled, returned all phone calls, and charged us as estimated. They also leveled out areas of our yard and natural area with the leftover dirt.
