Smoke Alert Home Fire Safety

I hired Smoke Alert to clean my dryer vent. I was told that starting price for service was $109 for second floor dryer vent and no senior discount. They advertise that they are owned and operated by firefighters. Who better than firefighters to know the state and local fire codes and have knowledge of and a vested interest in fire safety in the home. So, I contacted them and scheduled an appointment for between 0900-0930 on 12/22/2015. Chris Tomlin arrived at 0930. He was professional and friendly. He looked at the area around my dryer and the exterior vent. We discussed the situation and he explained the cleaning procedure. Not only did he clean the dryer vent, but also, he configured my round dryer duct to the rectangular dryer vent outlet in the wall and sealed it properly. This prevented all the debris that accumulates in the vent from blowing out into the laundry room and other parts of the house. After clean-up, Chris also completed a Fire Safety Checklist, that included his check of the dryer, my smoke detectors, and my fire extinguishers. He suggested newer, more efficient fire extinguishers than the ones I had. He showed me the ones he advised for home use. My extinguishers had plastic heads and fittings and could not be recharged. He did not pressure me into buying anything. But, I did buy the extinguishers he had available for total of $55. They had metal fittings and are rechargeable. Along with the other items on his checklist, he also inspected my electrical panel, HVAC. He left at about 1130. This service visit was positive and informative and I would definitely hire them again.

I requested a dryer vent cleaning when I called to schedule service. I received specific pricing information over the phone, as well as a heads up that the technician may recommend replacement if we had flexible tubing, since that no longer meets code. The technician arrived on time, completed the inspection, and recommended replacing the vent with a metal tube. He provided a quote immediately and got right to work. He worked efficiently and was very friendly with me and my young children. He also provided a fire safety inspection and recommendations for how to make our home more safe.

Very well, they arrived on-time and completed the work quickly and professionally. They answered any questions I had along the way and were very knowledgeable.

Smoke Alert was on time, friendly, and efficient. Not only did they clean out my dryer vent (it was SUPER clogged, my dryer works again!), but they did a free (and pressure free) fire safety analysis of my home. There was no hard sell, no high pressure... just friendly service. Would definitely hire again.

The Smoke Alert expert did a great job cleaning my dryer vent. He noticed that my vent was pinched and noted that he could repair it (instead of trying to upsell me a new vent). Love the honesty! After he cleaned my vent, he did a fire safety inspection (a nice extra!). I would definitely recommend Smoke Alert! And I will be using them again when I need my dryer vent cleaned in a year.

Scheduled the service over the telephone. Allowed me to reschedule for a different time on the same day. Arrived promptly. Completed work efficiently.

Very courteous and professional. Suggested that exterior vent be replaced with a new one that allowed dryer greater efficiency while preventing uninvited guests (birds) from nesting in vent pipe. Would hire again and recommend to my friends.

They were exceptionally good. They did a good job and a quick job. I thought it was worthwhile. They were good. They were professional and nice.

These were 2 separate visits. The chimney cleaning was performed by Travis and included a thorough assessment for safety. Cleaning was $175.00. The dryer vent was cleaned and repairs made to the duct transition and the exterior cover guard. I also had 2 smoke alarms installed, one with carbon monoxide detection alarm. All together, this was $370.00. This was done by Lonnie who was very helpful in explaining everything that was being done and providing more fire safety information. I am pleased with the Smoke Alert services and highly recommend them. I would definitely call them for future repairs and services.

They did an amazing job. Very professional and courteous. They also even checked my fire alarm carbon monoxide detectors and my fire extinguisher. Blake was so professional. Did his job and didn't rush thru it and once completed went thru his evaluation with me and recommendation. Will be using them again.

Not only did the tech do the inspection he took pictures from both the fireplace box and the top of the chimney. Covered how to for least amount of build up on chimney walls as far as using the fireplace. Chimney did not have a cap. He had one in his truck at a reasonable price and had it installed for me in no time. Also did a fire inspection in the house, checked my fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and CO2 detector.

The tech showed up right on time. Very professional and very clean. Laid out protection in every space he worked in. Explained to me what he was doing each step of the way and took pictures of the chimney inside and out from the roof. I needed a chimney cap and he installed one for me at a reasonable price. Had it on the truck so did not have to wait. Did a fire inspection and offered some suggestions on how to improve safety in the house. No pressure but very knowledgeable. Left a sheet with the prices for the suggested improvements.

Technician was on time and professional. Work was done exactly as expected. Dryer vent was cleaned and he also pointed out that our fire extinguisher needed to be replaced during their free fire inspection. Sold us the extinguisher without being pushy.

The installation went well, only took 2 hours. Our technician Blake was professional and knowledgeable . My family feels much safer now in this house. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

Josh cleaned out the dryer vent, replaced five smoke alarms and checked the fireplace. He also said that they have a service where they come out and change the batteries every year and clean the dryer vent. All in all the job was done well and I would use them again and recommend them to any homeowner

Lonnie was very professional and thorough with his work. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain why he recommended doing things a certain way. He also made recommendations that would be cost effective as well, which was much appreciated.

Employee wonderful, explained all, suggestions on how to keep safe, added new smoke detectors and carbon monoxide with battery back ups for out of date items. Had been meaning to get these updated, cost in line with Lowes and HD. Will have them back. Fire extinguishers if used they will replace for free within a time frame, not sure what that was.

It was good. It was alright. I give it maybe 6/10. I guess my problem with him is that they were firefighters and I was a little uncomfortable with that. I am not sure why but I would have preferred somebody who did this for a living rather than a firefighter.

The technician was a fireman and he was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. He recommended new alarms and fire extinguisher since mine were out of date. He reviewed fire safety procedures and made recommendations. He completed the work on time.

Everything went super. They scheduled me within a few days of calling. The tech came out and was slightly early (which was awesome) and completed the job faster than expected. Great service, great attitude, great price.
