Commercial Jobs and Major Remodeling.
The workmen that showed up were polite and punctual. The electrician was able to run the electrical and install the light fixtures and fans as I would expect a professional to do. He was also able to figure out what three of our light switches were supposed to do (2 were for the fan that was working off of the remote and one was for the outdoor garage light - it was located on an unexpected wall in the family room). We had an issue with a remote control in my son's room. We tried several until one worked properly. This was due to the remotes not retaining its memory (manufacturing defect). In the end we found one that worked, which turned out to be the same model as we used in the other room. We had avoided using this one at first because we thought the frequencies may be the same. Thank goodness it wasn't. It was a little frustrating for me (Lowes became my second home), but in the end the job was completed successfully. The worker that put in the shelf was able to install the new new shelf to match the existing shelf specifications. The shelf is very sturdy. He had inadvertantly bought custom paint to use when repair the drywall from the electrical work even though we had informed Vince that we had paint. Vince removed the charge from the materials list. When I spoke with Vince after the job was done he wanted to be sure that I was satisfied with quality of the workmanship and the men that showed up to do the service. I am happy with the way the fans operate and look as well as with the shelf in the garage.
Description of Work: We had four ceiling fans installed with remote controls. One ceiling needed to have the electrical wires run to the middle of the ceiling. One recessed light was installed in the kitchen and two additional flourescent lights were installed in the garage. The electrician also figured out what three of our mystery wall switches were for. A high shelf was installed in the garage for extra storage space.
Vince has been very professional and follows up on all jobs. I have had several staff members of his team come to various jobs in my home, all have been on time, very friendly, excellent work ethics and quality of work. They call ahead of time to confirm your appointment and arrival times. I will definitely call on him again to do other jobs for me. Bizzy Bee installed a garbage disposal, installed ceiling fans, new door locks/hardward and also removed 5 tree stumps in my yard. I am working with them to do a major bathroom remodel in the next 30 days.

Spoke with Vince on Friday, 1.11.13, to schedule repair to the exterior of my home caused by squirrels. Vince and I settled on Friday, 1.18.13, at 8:00am. On the morning of the agreed upon date, 1.18.13, no one from The Bizzzy Bee showed up at my home nor did anyone call me. Around noon that same day I called Diane and asked what happened. Shortly thereafter Vince called me explaining that he scheduled service at my house on the wrong day and apologized. I gave Vince a 2nd chance and he and I agreed that a Service Technician will come to my house on the following Friday, 1.25.13, around 9:00am to repair the squirrel damage on the exterior siding. On Friday morning, 1.25.13, the weather was inclement (sleet and freezing rain) so I called Diane and suggested perhaps the Service Technician should come a different day. Diane asked me to remind her the type of work I was having done, and I told her the Technician was coming to repair squirrel damage to the exterior siding of my home. It was then Diane told me Vince scheduled "their best door guy" to remodel one of my closet doors. (In the summer of 2012 Vince gave me an estimate on remodeling a closet door, but I didn't award this job to The Bizzzy Bee) As a result of scheduling issues and dispatching a Technician to perform work I did not hire them to do, gave me pause to question the company's ability to perform a quality job. Therefore, I chose not to hire The Bizzzy Bee nor will I contact them again.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
While I agree that I scheduled the wrong day on our first attempt, it was an honest error on my part so we re-scheduled the repairs. The next time we tried to come out, the weather was bad. The very next day after the storm passed, while the technician was in route, the customer called to cancel because she felt that we were no longer capable of doing the job. The technician that we sent is a 26 year veteran carpenter, more than capable of repairing a 5" squirrel hole. The reason my wife mentioned his skill with doors was because the customer wanted us to swap the swing on her closet door earlier in July of 2012. So while he was there, he could have looked at that work if she was still interested in having it done. This customer has over reacted to a clerical error in scheduling and has no real cause for her concerns. We rarely have scheduling issues and all of our technicians are capable and qualified with years of experience. Vince Curcio, Bizzzy Bee

While I have no problems with the quality of the work, I ?m sure that any other highly rated provider on Angie?s list would have done a comparable job. The workers were great, and a pleasure to deal with, but I can?t say the same for the owner. If you plan to use Bizzy Bee, make sure to keep a careful log of the number of workers and the hours spent per worker. I?m not saying there was any dishonesty just that the billing was extremely confusing and always required an elaborate explanation. For example, the Angie?s List discount was bundled into the total price rather than listed as a separate credit. Further, I found the owner pushy and aggressive. I had to spend over an hour on the phone trying to convince him that I was not interested in doing any more business. His long-windedness is overbearing. Just look at the elaborate responses to his negative reviews and you?ll understand what I mean. At this point, I?m just happy to have paid the bill and be done with him.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
We had no issues or problems with this customer or her job until the invoice was presented. Her estimates and invoices were itemized so that she could see exactly what she was billed for; even so, she said that she was confused. So I stopped and explained everything on the invoice; that takes time. She also questioned the labor charges and asked for accountability. I gave her a copy of the job log and we went over the log and every receipt. I showed her that we had been honest with her and no mistakes had been made; that also took time. She claims that she is not accusing us of dishonesty but in truth, that is exactly what she has done. She did so with me directly and now again in her dishonest report. Please note that she was very pleased with the work that we did and my men as well. In truth, this customer wanted to be heard and simply wanted me to give discounts based on her accusations. When I showed her that we were honest with her and no mistakes had been made, she took offense with me personally. Her claim is that I was pushy, aggressive, and overbearing. I simply answered her questions and concerns as she presented them. I was polite but direct with my answers and tried to help her understand the facts. As for her accusation of long windedness, it takes time to explain both sides of any situation. I make sure that everything is disclosed so that there is transparency. Refusing to give discounts based on false accusations does not warrant a bad review, Vince Curcio, Bizzzy Bee.

Asked for an estimate and got a comprehensive list of things we wated done along with estimated pricing. We decided not to do some and went forward with other task. Bizzy Bee was flexible and changed the work around to be the items we wanted. We had a screen door replaced and next time I will just go down and purchase the dorr (I let Bizzy Bee select the door and they chose one that I did not like). They did select the paint and did a great job - both on the inside work (repair some broken tile in our master bath) and outside work (repair some wood rot around a back door and replace a screen door). Bizzy Bee is a team you can trust.

Vince came out on time and provided me with a detailed estimate. He was very professional and courteous. Vince worked with me with multiple quotes/scenarios in order to meet my budgeting needs at a rental house. He was very patient and accommodating. His crew showed up on time and was also very professional and courteous. Overall, job well done and I am very satisfied. I even called him back after a few months to ask a question about one of the fixes his crew did. He came back out and reviewed and tweaked the fix in order to make sure there won?t be any issues. I appreciate his professionalism and communication. I would use him again for future projects.
Vince (owner) sent the most wonderful crew to help us. Every step of the way, we were told what would be done and how it would be completed. The guys who came to our home were professional, paid attention to detail and simply delightful to have on the premises. They worked diligently. When there were questions, they discussed it with us and we came to a decision together as to the materials and process. Vince stayed in touch to make sure our needs were being met. We could not be more pleased. The cost was reasonable for the work, especially considering that ladders and heights were involved! The guys were so kind to even replace our chimney cap while they were repairing the roof/soffit. Their attention to detail included insulating the new crawl space door. Now how many folks would have even thought to do that? Everything was cleaned up beautifully and the repairs were totally to our satisfaction. We are not selling our home, so it was not a matter of "dolling" up the house . . . we were taking out a lower interest rate loan before interest rates go back up (thus the need for the appraisal) . . . so these are repairs we will be living with and we wanted them done right! In addition, we asked the guys to check out the areas around guttering, corners, facia, roofing, etc of the entire house to make sure there were no problems that were not visible from the ground. This was very helpful and very appreciated. They went out of their way to assist us. I already have a new list of things I want done in our home - from making an additional shelf for my kitchen island to new insulation under the house. When I finish, I will be giving the folks at The Bizzzy Bee a call to come make my "wish list" a reality. After hit and miss with handymen over the 10 years we have been in this house, I feel I have found the right folks who take pride in their work, provide expertise at a reasonable price, and handle communication with professionalism and genuine interest. Ten years is a long time, but at least I know I have a team behind me for all our needs in the future. A big "thank you" to everyone at Bizzzy Bee, from the owner to the office staff and the crew. We know who we will be calling on in the future and I highly recommend that others give them a call, as well.
Description of Work: We had a list of home maintenance items to take care of before the appraisal of our home took place, including an area that needed soffit and fascia repair/replacement, new crawl space door, removal/replacement of insulation, repair to an area on the roof, etc. The price included materials, which the crew picked up and brought to our home. We very much appreciated that we did not have to pick up materials, as this simplified the process on our end.

the services owner Vince, suggested that he had a similar situation at their home, and he knew how to fix this problem permanently. he estimated $300 (5 hours) for this effort, and we agreed. we assumed we were in good hands, and left the home to attend our chores. On our return we see that the job was not only shoddy, but, clearly didn't even take 5 hours. We argued with the service personnel that we are unwilling to pay for the service, since, the solution is not complete. the service provider argued that the gate would withstand time, if wheels were attached to a drooping gate. the back support for the gate which was rotting and expecting to be replaced, has not been replaced either. 24 hours later and my gates are already drooping. I called up the service guy, and he now suggests replacing the posts, and that the job will be even more expensive than earlier quoted. I have emailed him pictures of the drooping gates again. He has refused to answer our calls or emails anymore. I have canceled my check to this company and intend to drag them to court for the grief they have caused me. I will also complain about his work ethics with BBB. I have pictures of his job, unfortunately, this website doesn't allow reviewers to upload pictures. I assume this guy will have to restart his service under a new name, maybe add one more Z in his name, to make him incognito. Z does represent the grade he deserves for the services and ethics. ********************PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE, IF IT's THE LAST OPTION AVAILABLE*********************
Description of Work: We hired this service to provide a permanent solution to our drooping gates. the gates were heavy and a few of the panels rotting. the posts holding the gate were fine, but, because the gate itself was heavy, they would not close shut

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
Which seems more logical to you? I, after having received multiple Super Service Awards for 9 consecutive years, with hundreds of straight A reports by satisfied customers, would now jeopardize my good reputation? Or that these people, have lied, robbed me, and now slandered me because I wouldn’t allow them to brow-beat me into accepting what they were willing to pay? This customer has completely falsified the facts. Sue me for grief?!? If anyone has grounds for a lawsuit it would be me for the check fraud and the defamation of character committed by this customer. Here are the real facts. The Angie’s List member that wrote the report was not there anytime during the repair nor was he the one that I had given the estimate to. Since they don’t have the same last name, I’m not sure if she was his wife or his significant other. In any event, when the woman of the house called and described the condition of her fence gates, I gave her a sight unseen phone estimate of 4-6 hours of labor plus the cost of materials plus the time to go get the materials for her repair, if the problem was a typical repair. There was NEVER any discussion of a permanent solution! That’s just not reality. Even pressure treated lumber will rot over time and there is no such thing as a PERMANENT solution. I sent my technician out and what he was told by the woman of the house was to reuse as much of the existing material as he could. She made it crystal clear to him that money was tight and that she didn’t want to spend a lot of money. The condition of the double truck gates and support was poor. The gates were sagging and warped. The 4x4 support post was leaning from the weight because it was insufficient to carry that much weight hanging off of it. In all reality, the post should have been a 6x6 post sunk 3.5 to 4 feet into the ground and surrounded by concrete. The woman of the house left. My technician started repairs to the gates and support with as little cost as he could per her instructions. He had to make a trip to the store to get concrete and other necessary materials, spending only $23. He returned and took down the gates and put in cross-bracing to take the warpage out of the panels. He replaced broken slats and tightened loose slats. For the post that had been leaning, he dug down further around the support post, mixed, and poured concrete in an attempt to fortify it on the back side. He did that again on the front side of the post. He tethered the post to hold it in place while the concrete set and remounted the gates. He had 5 total hours between the work and the store trip. At that point, the woman of the house returned and was clearly upset because my technician wasn’t finished yet and told him she didn’t want him doing any more. My technician then called me to inform me of the situation. After speaking with my technician, I called her to find out why she was so upset. She claimed that my technician could not possibly have been working for the past 4-5 hours and had only replaced a couple of boards and that he should have already been done. She wanted to renegotiate the job for a flat $150 and as far as she was concerned, the job was only worth that amount. I told her that we had already discussed how long the repairs would take and that the time to negotiate price is not when the work is almost done. After the telephone conversation, she then began sending numerous negative texts with pictures. As soon as I could, that same day, I went out to meet with her and inspected the repairs. Both the pictures she sent me and my on-site inspection confirmed that my technician had followed my instructions and the repairs were almost completed. I explained to the customer that the truck gates were too heavy for a 4x4 post and would require additional wheel supports under the gates. She made it clear to me that she did not want to spend any more money and wanted to know what the current bill was. I told her that the technician had 5 hours which included 1 hour for a store trip. She refused to pay the full amount and gave me a deficient check, refusing to pay any more. Even so, I reminded her that if she did not support the gates with wheels, that they would sag again. She said she would do that herself. The next day we removed the tether and as I suspected, the gate was too heavy for the 4x4 post. Later that evening, the man of the house called me to inform me that he was unhappy with our services, that he cancelled the check, and that if I would come back and finish the job, he would write me a new check for less than what we had originally agreed to. I tried to explain to him several times why the gate was sagging, what we had done so far, and what was still needed in order to finish the repairs. Neither one of them wanted to accept my advice or my solution to repair their gate. I was accused of being dishonest and that we had done shoddy work, when in fact, she would not let us complete the work. In the end, they robbed me and justified themselves by claiming bad workmanship. Even after all of that, I sent them a link with a picture and the location of the wheels that they needed for their gates. I also reminded them that without the extra wheel support or a larger 6x6 post, properly installed, the gates would continue to sag.

An quote was provided, we selected The Bizzy Bee and they communicated when they would come out to do the work and then communicated the day prior on what time the handyman would arrive. Each day the handyman cleaned up that day's work and provided us a summary of what was completed and what would be done the following day. Upon completion of the work, the handyman did not ask press for immediate payment allowing us to follow up with management of The Bizzy Bee directly. We prefer this as we get to look at the work for a day or two and request follow up if needed, none was needed.

Initially, I had a difficult time requesting an appointment. I had received an estimate.....then nothing. Out of the blue ( a few months later), he called and scheduled an appointment. I accepted the appointment. The estimate included a low to high range....unfortunately, he charged the highest range for everything. I was not home during the repair but it appeared tohave gone well. The person who didi the repair was apparantly a "subcontractor" or another employee...According to my son, this person appeared tobe in training because it took him hours to replace the wood.
Description of Work: Front door is a double-door set-up. One side had a leak from the outside lower panel and the lower door jam peice. The wood was relaced in both areas, sealed, and painted. Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
When I found this report I was floored. The customer was unhappy about the bill and has completely misrepresented the facts. First of all, the technician that completed her repairs was NOT a subcontractor and certainly not in training. He is a skilled fulltime employee with over 12 years of carpentry experience. It always amazes me how someone who is unable to do the work (her son) knows how long the work should take. The fact is that she initially called us on 6/18/2012 at 2:45 PM. We returned her call the same day and set an appointment with her for Thursday 6/21/2012 between 12-2 PM (when she was available). She was sent a typed explicit itemized estimate to her inbox by 11:57 PM….THE SAME NIGHT! Where was the difficulty in that?? She wrote with questions about the estimate on Friday 6/22/2012 at 8:55 AM for which I responded with a complete explanation by 9:38 AM THAT SAME DAY. Our immediate response hardly indicates a “nothing” response as she claims. In fact, she responded at 10:57 AM saying that the explanation was very helpful and thanked us. We followed up with at least two unanswered phone calls and heard nothing…zip….zero…nada. Finally we were able to make contact on 7/5/2012 and she said she was going to be sending the signed paperwork. That paperwork never came. We still continued to periodically call to follow up with no answer. Instead, via the phone on 8/21/2012 (two months later) she decides she wants to schedule SOME of the work. The scope of the work she approved was only 7-8.5 hours. Since she had reduced the scope of work to less than half the original amount, we went ahead and performed the work without the paperwork signed. That work was completed in 7 hours…not at the high end as she has falsely claimed. After the technician was finished, there were two shutters that had come loose on her house and needed new anchors. It wasn’t until the the end of the day when she pointed it out and asked us to take care of it along with checking the remaining shutters. This entailed having to drive back out the next day after going to the store for the necessary anchors, bore out the brick slightly larger, reattach the two shutters, and check the remaining shutters on the house to verify they were secure. This process (which was totally unrelated to the original scope of work that had been completed) took 2 hours, which would not have been as long if she had proactively requested the shutter repairs at the beginning of the day and before the technician had gone to the store the first time. Had she done that, BOTH repairs would have come within the estimate for the original single repair. When all was said and done, she got BOTH repairs completed in 9 hours. The original estimate for the one repair was 7-8.5 hours. This customer’s failure to communicate the ADDITIONAL repair at the beginning does not constitute an overbilling on our part. This customer’s failure to communicate and return promised paperwork does not constitute poor communication, unresponsiveness, or unprofessionalism on our part. When we invoiced her, she asked for an explanation of the charges, which here again, she promptly received. We invoiced her on 9/10/2012 and she responded with questions about the bill on 9/11/2012. Again, we responded to her the same day, supplying her with a thorough explanation and the original estimate with the work items she approved highlighted in yellow. Once again, we heard nothing…zip…zero…zilch. We waited nearly a month to receive payment and when we reminded her that we still had not been paid, she decided to put in an unfavorable report that completely falsified the facts. I believe in the premise behind Angie's List members being able to leave honest feedback, but this particular member has abused the system by falsifying the facts. Vince C. Bizzzy Bee

The Bizzzy Bee has a great reputation and I can totally see why. They are punctual, they provide a great service, and back-up what they say by performing top quality work.
Description of Work: Replace and repair wood frame around my back doors. They were damaged by rain as well as my little dog who likes to chew the wood for her own enjoyment!!! Patrick arrived on time. He was personable, professional, and was obviously expertly skilled in his craft. He completed the work within his estimated time frame and even did a few more things while he was there.

Vince and crew were great to work with. They responded quickly to my initial request for a bid and were able to start the job within a few days. When I had difficulty finding the columns that I wanted, they helped me track them down. Bryant, the guy who spent the most time on site, was knowledgeable and skilled. He was very good at assessing different approaches that could be taken to various pieces of the work and offered his opinion on associated costs and relative benefits. In addition, he identified problems with existing construction and pointed out conditions that were likely to result in problems in the future. This, of course, helps generate future work for the company, but the problems he noted were real.
Description of Work: Repairs to porch damaged by large limb. Involved work with shingles, siding, gutter, brick. Had columns replaced at the same time.

They are easy to work with. The carpenter/handyman was really meticulous. He enjoyed his work and took pride in what he did.
Description of Work: They restored our garage wood door, painted and caulked 3 doors, and put on a new threshold on a door. They fixed some loose vinyl siding as well. They caulked around a electrical box. They did more but I can't remember everything because they did so much.
