The company fixed some decayed wood fiber board siding. Here are the good and what needs improvement: |Good: |- They are a real company with real paper work |- They showed up on the first day on time |- You could get a hold of them and they responded |- We discussed the work and the scheduling over e-mail and text nice for someone that is busy |- They responded quickly to the service request |- The work met expectations for the most part |- They cleaned up after themselves |- Price was competitive |Needs improvement: |- Scheduling was less than perfect I had to call to finalize both appointments |- Additional things that needed to be addressed that were readily viable were not discussed on the first visit. I had to get a hold of the contractor after the work had been completed - they were going to call me about it though |- The person actually doing the work never introduced themselves to us | |Bottom line: | |For the CLT area an above average experience but not perfect. I will call them again the next time I need something taken care of that I can't do myself and I would recommend them to others. |

Vince has provided a variety of services for me over the past year, from the small (toilet clog just a little more complex than I could do myself) to complex repairs after a major plumbing problem/ flooded house. Vince is always quick to respond, schedule according to my needs & ensure I am happy with the job. I really appreciate the fact that I can be confident that the job will be done & done well. Last year after a major plumbing issue, the Bizzzy Bee team fixed my kitchen back together including electrical (replacing light fixtures), drywall (replacing the big hole in the cieling), and paint. They coordinated the work among the different pros so that I didn't need to deal with coordinating things like when the electrician would be done so the carpenter could start. I just had to make the 1st call & they took care of the rest. This was especially important as it was right before last Thanksiving when we were hosting 15 for a sit down dinner! When the painter had car trouble (morning before Thanksgiving) I got a call early from Vince letting me know, that he had another painter lined up, & when he would be there. Everything was done in time & so well that one of my guests walked into the kitchen & asked about the flood... the repairs were so good you couldn't see any sign that there had been a big gaping hole a few days earlier! You can be confident that the Bizzzy Bee will do the job well, show up when they say they will, at the estimated price.
Description of Work: Most recently Bizzzy Bee removed 3 trees for me & ground stumps. Previously I have used them for: Fence repair minor plumbing tree trimming Repair after a major plumbing problem inc: electrical replacing fixtures, replacing kitchen cieling, drywall finishing, & painting.

The electrician was awesome. Very nice guy and even took the time to introduce himself to my very large dogs. Plumber was quiet and efficient. One of his workers was quiet the first day even though he wasnt supplies with a to do list. I guess I was suppose to have that ready for him to do his job? The day after the same first worker and a second new worker came over to do the paint. They didnt cover or move my brand new memory foam mattress and got it wet, stained in one spot and left all the tools etc on it. GROSS. The older man apologized a lot while the second one stood quiet. The older man came back and the second one didnt at our request. He finished the job along with another young man that was pleasant. I then decided that I have found another handyman who actually owns his business and does the work and would continue the tasks with him. I even trust him to be in my house alone because he is so neat and tidy. He doesnt charge material pickup and handling fees either. Vinny was going to charge me $235 to do brick mortar on the window sill. The other guy I found charged $35 and showed me how easy and why it it isnt an expensive task. There is NO communication with this company and way to many people in the cookie jar. His wife does billing and takes her sweet time to do so. Vinny does the estimates. A whole bunch other do the work. His sister does the contract signing. I am one of the most easy going people and rarely complain. Vinny did ask why we didnt want to continue service and we didnt answer because I just want this annoyance done. I asked for billing that was suppose to be here Friday and it came Sunday. I am actually begging them to send this check out to get rid of them already.

I needed two ceiling repairs in separate rooms of my home. This process involved three visits from the contractor. The first for the repair, then two more for finishing work and painting. All this was explained up front and he worked around my schedule on the followup visits. The work was performed quickly and professionally. I was surprised and impressed that in each room he constructed a plastic sheeting column from floor to ceiling around the repair area to limit the spread of drywall dust to the surrounding area. This left our rooms available for use with minimal intrusion. I was also happy with the finished appearance.

See above. A total waste of my time spent with this company!
Description of Work: An estimator came by my house, I spent an hour showing him around on the work that needed to be done. I asked for an estimate in 2 days, he said not a problem. I also followed up and sent an email with an itemized list and pictures of the areas needing repair. They confirmed receipt of my email and said they would submit the estimate. After the agreed upon deadline passed, I followed up with 2 voicemails and a text message requesting an update on the estimate timing. The following week I received a call from the owner that a client of his had a house fire over the weekend (which happened after the quote was to be provided to me) and he asked if I still wanted the quote. I said yes that we were still interested. He said I would have it that night or the next morning. Its been 1.5 weeks later and still no quote. I don't appreciate this company wasting my time with showing them my house (an hour out of my workday) and my repeated follow-ups requesting the quote. This company appears to be very disorganized and doesn't want future business!
This is the second review that I have done on Vince since this summer. This second reviewed contract is a direct result of an extreme mess that another company left me with. The other company came in to do a few things including painting, cleaning and pressure washing. I live out of state and Vince caught them not doing the work they were being paid for and let me know about it. They left my house a wreck. When they started it only needed light work along with painting and carpet/tile. When they left my paint was peeling and they did none of the cleaning, as well as damaging so many things and improperly reassembling, or not assembling at all, many others. There were also many damaged items that they just painted over rather than fixing like the contract called for among other things. Vince came in and fixed all of this for me so that it could be rented. He has also stated that he would be there as a witness to the damage that this company caused me. The price shown above may sound like a lot for what I have described so far, but let me tell you, the list of things that he did for me was extremely lengthy. Somewhere along the lines of 80 items in the punch list, and many of them were time consuming items. He took what was an extremely stressful situation for me and made it all go away. I really wish he would have been available to do the painting in the first place and I could have avoided getting ripped off. But I was naive then and thought that getting a painter in immediately instead of waiting 3-4 weeks (Vince's painters were booked 4 weeks out) would be better as I would not have as much vacancy time. Boy did that idea backfire! That is a huge lesson learned to me. Painters that can show up and paint in the summer with little more than a week or two notice, are available for a reason. I will never make that mistake again. I would rather wait a month to get someone to do the job that cares about quality like Vince does. Damage costs from the other company FAR outweigh vacancy costs. I could have waited 3 months for Vince's painters and still been farther ahead. To try to give a breakdown on costs: $400 for full house cleaning including baths, cupboards, lights, fans, vents, grout, floors, appliances and paint slop cleanup from the previous crew. $700 for proper pressure washing and hand cleaning of entire exterior of the house, driveway including oil spots and front porch, patio and walkway. (Including fixing poor workmanship damage from the last two pressure washing companies.) If you would have given me that price last summer for pressure washing I would have opted out. But after being ripped off twice now by people charging half that, I realize that it costs more to pay less. Both $350 companies did very poor quality work and each caused an additional couple hundred dollars of damage. Trust me, for what Vince does, $700 is a good deal and he doesn't break things. $150 for trash removal that previous crews left behind. A little over $300 for drywall repairs and paint touchups that the previous crew missed or ignored. There were plenty of spots and Vince easily could have charged more for this. $800 for repairs/replacements of damaged, missing or improperly installed items that the other company removed for painting. $400 to "band aid" fix some of the areas that were immediately peeling just 2 days after the previous company painted, due to improper surface prep. This will need much more work to fix later, but Vince was able to stop the peeling for now so that I could get the home rented and deal with it during next vacancy. $725 for misc flooring work. A different company had installed about 500 SQ FT of tile flooring. They made a lot of paint nicks that needed repaired, did not seat the door hinges properly, and did not cleanup the shoe molding after install. This price also includes applying grout seal, two coats, and making multiple trips to the home to wait around for that company to show up to fix their mistakes. $300 for misc pet damage repairs that should have been fixed by the original company prior to painting. Several new pieces of baseboard needed to be replaced or repaired, and then painted. $2250 for many misc other repairs that just needed done at nobody's fault but general wear. These repairs included door stops throughout entire house, blinds replaced, rotted fence posts replaced, yard debris removed, drip pans replaced, door sweeps and weather strip replaced, garage remotes replaced and programmed, misc wall repairs in garage, plumbing leak and damage repaired, countertop repair, new locks, dishwasher install and many many small items as well as meeting with new tenants for me. This general repair count was about 40 hours of labor and about $500 in materials. In general, Vince was once again a lifesaver for me. He turned a bad situation into a positive one. Tenants moved in and love the quality of the home. Had it been left as is I would have suffered with a monthly tenant call to repair misc items, and no doubt they would have treated the home in a way that reflected the condition at move in, thereby causing a repeat in likely 1 to 2 years. You can count on Vince to do quality work the first time. The man has outstanding work ethic, integrity, and cares about the quality of work and customer satisfaction. I am surprised by some of the recent critical reviews I read about him though. Vince charges what he is worth and until you have lived through the nightmares of contractors that don't care about quality but charge less, you may not immediately see the value. Maybe that is where they are coming from as a lot of them say he charges too much but they don't hire him. I would tell them, they would be wise to give Vince a chance even if he charges more than someone else. With Vince, you will get what you pay for and then some. I will definitely hire Vince first in the future.
Description of Work: Many many general repairs, cleanup and rework from another contractor that ripped me off, Pressure washing, cleaning, grout sealing, pet damage repair, appliance installation, plumbing repair, fence post replacements, etc (too much to mention it all).

We called concerning the water damage to the frame at the bottom of a large window we have over our front door in our foyer. We were put on the calendar and they called the day before to let us know what time they would be there. They arrived right on time and did the work the same day. Very professional job. We had been dreading fixing this window because we were unsure anyone would know how to handle it. But they did, and we are very happy with their work.

The work done was beautiful but I am unhappy how they did business. One man did the estimate and another one did the work. The job took longer than expected and that happens but maybe it would be less likely to happen if the man that does the estimate does the actual work. Despite that all charges were listed on the invoice there were several charges that felt like I was nickel and dimed on. 30 dollars dumping and charges for handling materials and you also have to buy your own paint for the job. There is a lot of mouse print on the invoice. I had left a signed blank check for the payment of work which was taken but I was left no invoice or paperwork. I called a few days later and asked how much the final charge was and they were unable to answer my question and it was unclear whether or not they used the check that was taken. I wanted to know how much money was coming out of my account and was unable to get this info. Several days later I called again and they were still unable to give me the exact charge but told me that my check was not usable because I had used 2 colors of ink (I still have no idea where that signed check is) - It ended up being 10 days or more after the work was completed and 2 calls were made until I actually knew what I owed and that it was more than the estimate. It took longer still to actually ever see an invoice. They e-mailed and it got lost in junk mail which happens but it was still a major inconvenience. Early on I had asked for something to be mailed. Seems like they could take the price of a stamp out of my 30.00 dump fee and send me a proper invoice. After all that nonsense I decided to just pay them with a credit card for the full amount of almost 900.00 dollars and they would not flex on the credit card fee of over 30 dollars. I hope that they choose to reimburse me on that fee and I hope they might send my send my signed check back. Unfortunately I would not use them again because of the hassles I encountered just trying to find out how much I owed and to make a payment.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
I would like to set the record straight. This customer sent us an email at the end of the day on Wednesday, 9/4/2013 at 4:29 PM. The following quote is from that email: “I'd like to receive all quotes by Friday. Any chance you can come by tomorrow after 2:00 pm”. He got an immediate response with a phone call the same day and a follow up call the next day. This customer finally called back the afternoon on the same day that they wanted their quote. I was honest and direct, as it was obvious that he was looking for an immediate turn-around of the estimate and the work. I let him know that we could not accommodate such a quick turn-around at this time of year during the busiest part of our season. I told him that I didn’t want to waste his time or mine giving him an estimate if he was not going to be able to wait until we could do the requested repairs. He then changed his tune and said that he would be willing to wait, so we set an appointment for my next available date to give him the estimate he was requesting. On the day that we were supposed to meet, one of my family members had an emergency that I could not ignore and I was forced to re-route my day. Unfortunately, I had to contact this customer to inform him of the situation and before I could finish explaining to him why we could not meet and present an offer to reschedule, this individual abruptly hung up on me. So the actual facts are these: This individual was rude, self-serving, and did not care about his fellow man. He wanted what he wanted, and when he couldn’t get what he wanted, he has now become abusive. He has chosen to use the Angie’s List forum inappropriately as a club to attack with rather than give an honest report of the facts. I am honest, hard-working, and a caring individual. I am a grandfather of eight. I have been doing maintenance for a very long time and am good at what I do. I will give until it hurts but I cannot and will not tolerate this kind of rudeness. Just for the record, I have two family members with serious medical conditions and, as it should be, the needs of my family come first. I wish this customer the best and hope that he reflect and reconsider his rude and dishonest behavior. Sincerely, Vince Curcio Bizzzy Bee

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
I was surprised to find that a customer who had not used our services commented on our pricing. What I would like to point out to Angie’s List members is that pricing is very subjective and there are a number of factors that affect it. Quality is the largest determining factor that impacts price not only with regard to us, but every other business around us. For example, would you expect to pay the same price for a BMW as you would for a Ford Taurus? Would you expect to pay the same price for a bottle of wine aged many years in a wine cellar as you would for a bottle in the local grocery store cooler with a metal twist cap? Price is truly relative. As many of our customers here on Angie’s List have attested in the 400+ straight A reports, we provide a quality service at a price reasonable for the service that we provide.

Great job done!! Vince was responsive and came out quickly to provide the estimate. Tom (who did the repairs) was on-time, professional, and performed the work quickly and carefully. He also made some suggestions to the work, which was appreciated. Totally satisfied with the work completed and would definitely hire the Bizzy Bee again!!

I scheduled the electrical walk through with Vince for Monday Aug 19. When Gary (outstanding electrician) arrived, he walked me through the price points of the various projects then offered to get to work. Gary was able to complete all but the TV install(we didnt have wall mount) and the outdoor lights as it was raining. Gary came back on Friday Aug 23 and finished the remaining items as well as corrected a couple electrical issues we were not aware of. While at the house on the 19th, Gary called Dave(top notch plumber) to assist with our leaky toilet. Dave was in and out in less than an hour! From begining tto end the Bizzzy team was transparent, pleasant and helpful and easy to work with. I would highly recommend Gary, Dave and Vince to assist you. We will continue to use BizzzyBee, in fact they will be coming back this week to game plan on another project AWESOME EXPERIENCE
Esxcellent. He arrived on time and was very professional in all tasks he helped us complete. We also felt the billing was fair.

We asked The Bizzzy Bee to install a new fan box, ceiling fan and outlet switch and install new closet shelving. The fan appears to be installed perfectly and we are very happy with it. The guy who came out, Gary, was very nice and professional, although he was very late to arrive (he did call to let us know). The shelving looked good at first glance, but once we started to hang clothes and put boxes on the shelves, we realized that the ends of the shelves were not sufficiently attached such that items hung or placed at the ends caused the entire shelf to wobble and lift up. We will have to spend this weekend installing additional support brackets to prevent this from happening. We considered calling The Bizzzy Bee to come back and properly finish the job, but frankly did not want to deal with them any more after the way they treated us when it came time to pay. They quoted us a certain amount for the materials to do the job and then charged us almost $300 more for materials after it was finished. When we called the owner, Vince, to ask about it, he claimed that his supplier must have only quoted him for one shelf instead of the number that we requested, but that it wasn?t his problem. We explained that we hired The Bizzzy Bee based on their quote and felt that the risk of a supplier misquoting the price should fall on The Bizzzy Bee and should not be passed on to the customer. Vince pointed to the language in the contract that states that the cost of materials may fluctuate between the time estimated and purchased, however this was not a fluctuation in cost. The price of the shelves themselves did not go up. This was a mistake made by The Bizzzy Bee (or possibly his supplier). When we complained about the unfairness of this position, Vince offered to have his guy rip out the shelving that had just been installed and refund us the cost of any materials that could be returned to his supplier. We will never use The Bizzzy Bee again and strongly urge others to be aware of the way they treat their customers when they make a mistake. Do not trust their estimates.

I am astounded at the way in which some customers will distort facts in order to make their case sound more dramatic than it actually is. There are four complaints listed by this customer. Complaint #1: That we were very late to the job. Complaint #2: That we charged them $300 more than quoted for materials. Complaint #3: That we missed something during the installation of the shelves. Complaint #4: That we treated them badly. Here are the facts: Complaint #1: The job was scheduled for a start time window of 9-10am, our technician was at the store picking up their materials at 10am and checked out at 10:27am. The time is listed on their receipt. We were not “very late” as stated by this customer and the technician made them aware that he was picking up their materials which they admit. Complaint #2: This customer was quoted a high end total estimate of $482.50. What the customer conveniently left out of their review was that the contract clearly states that “The Bizzzy Bee only charges what the materials cost and cannot and will not absorb differences in the cost of materials”. This was understood upfront and should not have been a surprise to this customer. We diligently called our supplier to obtain material pricing prior to providing our quote to the customer and were given miss-information by mistake. Their total bill in the end was $621.58. That is a difference of $139.08 higher than the top end of the quote, which is drastically different from their claim “charged us almost $300 more for materials”. The customer was given the actual receipt. There was no deception here. What we purchased was installed in their home and they were not charged anything more than what the supplier charged us. They were unreasonable in expecting Bizzzy Bee to absorb material costs for materials that were now installed in their home. While it is unfortunate that the supplier misquoted the materials, we cannot and do not absorb material costs unless otherwise agreed upon prior to the job. Our contract was clear and agreed upon upfront. Their expectation that we should suddenly absorb material costs after the job was completed is unreasonable. Complaint #3: Given that this customer has exaggerated about us being very late and the amount they were charged for the materials, it leads me to doubt that they truly had an installation issue. If they truly had an installation problem, they could have called me and I would have made any corrections that were necessary at no additional cost. We give a full labor warranty for the work that we do and if they had a real problem we stand behind our work and I keep my word. I have hundreds of “A” reports that prove that fact. Complaint #4: They were treated badly. If being honest with a customer and reminding them what the terms of the contract are is treating them badly, then I am guilty. The fact of the matter is that this customer chose to become aggressive with me, yelling at me on the phone that I was unprofessional because I would not pay for the product that we just installed in their home. Additionally, I never said that I would rip out the shelving if they did not want to pay. I offered to remove the product if they did not want to pay for it; which would have been a hefty loss to me as I would have done so for free and not charged for the labor of installation. But being bullied to pay for the product that was just installed in their home was not an option. That is the real issue at hand. The attitude of entitlement is an amazing thing that makes some people unreasonable and mean spirited. In this situation, my good name is being smeared not because we treated this customer badly but because I would not yield to their unreasonable demands. Read the many good reports and you will see that I am a very giving and fair minded person. A different person than these people would have you see. Vince Curcio, Bizzzy Bee.
Vince did a thorough tenant move out inspection for me and went through a full list of repairs. The initial statement of work was smaller, but Vince pointed out some things that other contractor left behind and he took care of them for me. He helped keep me notified of the items that the other contractors were neglecting or not doing correctly that were going to derail my schedule for flooring installation. Vince stepping in and keeping me informed of things allowed the flooring to be installed on time without extra costs that no doubt would have occured had Vince not pointed things out to me. He went above and beyond and saved me some potential costs or delays. Without his help flooring would have been delayed several days. Vince is very knowledgable and goes above and beyond to satisfy his clients needs. He does quality work and delivers on all commitments. He will let you know when he finds things that could be a problem down the road rather than just skipping and covering up ultimately costing you a lot more later. I am reviewing him now as this contract has been completed, but he is currently working a second contract for me as well. This second contract is the result of terrible work and a disaster left behind by the other company that was doing work for me. He is an amazing asset on that and I will go into full detail on that when that contract is complete. Bottom line, Vince is a lifesaver and has EARNED his status as the only person I will count on to do repairs on my rental properties from here on out. I would be in a real mess right now without him and am extremely grateful that Angies List brought us together. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone that values quality work, integrity and work ethic.

Terrible. Unprofessional from the get-go. Vince missed our original appointment and came out three days later to provide quote. After walking around, taking notes, etc., it took more than a week and multiple phone calls to get the quote. That quote read "I was trying to finish up your estimate by today but my brother informed me this morning that we are currently booked. After discussing the issues with meeting your deadline, at present, our ability to meet your time for completion is not a possibility." By the way, we never talked about a deadline. We had just moved into the property and had a number of jobs that needed to be done over a two to three month period. Don't waste your time. Bizzzy Bee cannot manage their workload.
Description of Work: Satisfactory experience with minor repair at one property. Vince and Bizzzy Bee then came to another property to provide quote for bathroom remodel, painting, and other minor repairs. Quote never provided.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
This customer is spouting an exaggeration of the facts. At the request of the customer’s wife, we previously jumped on an urgent task needed for them to sell their home and completed it in two days even though our schedule at that time was tight. While true that I had to reschedule my quote appointment with them at their new home, it was due to a situation beyond my control with a unexpected health issue. As for a deadline, it is true that a completion deadline was not discussed; however, a timeframe for beginning the work was most definitely discussed and they made it clear that they wanted the work to begin within three weeks. When I arrived it was obvious that there were other contractors already working and the customer let me know that they were getting several quotes, so they weren’t left hanging. In addition to a 17 page inspection report containing approximately 64 deficiencies, the customer’s wife sent us the following list: “I have attached our inspection report to give you a sense of just some of the items on our to-do list. In addition to these items we have some other to-dos: * move washer and dryer to a different location * remove debris in back yard and level the area to avoid puddles when it rains * re-grade a section of the area under the deck so the rain runs away from the basement * replace vanities in 3 bathrooms and possibly toilets and shower heads * gut and renovate the master bathroom * paint entire interior * install shelving in the garage * put down plywood in attic so we can store some things there * supplement insulation in crawl space * and a number of other projects I can't think of right now. **** Whew, I am just tired thinking about it” Right out of the gate I informed them that I would only bid on some of the items because of our existing schedule. If I hadn’t intended on giving them an estimate I wouldn’t have invested my time and paid my glass technician to assess the windows that needed replacement. The fact of the matter is that with the dynamic nature of maintenance and with more storm damage than I can remember in past years, I cannot predict what jobs will come in and when. Windows of opportunity open and shut very quickly. We take on jobs on a first come, first serve basis unless someone has a dire emergency and needs immediate assistance to minimize sudden loss. Several emergencies due to storms delayed the customer receiving an estimate. Given the choice between helping someone who has their ceiling caving in from a sudden leak or writing a customer an estimate for work that is not of an urgent nature, I’m going to help the customer that has a dire emergency. Additionally, several previously presented proposals came in that were accepted. Another issue that we are confronted with in maintenance is the hidden damage that expands a job beyond what we knew about and planned for. It is unreasonable to attack us when we have caused no damage or harm and was honest with the customer that our previous ability to start the work within their desired three week deadline had changed from the time that we had first met. Would they prefer that we lie to them? We would like to help everyone we possibly can, but since we don’t sub out our work, we have a limited amount of labor hours to allocate. This customer, simply became disgruntled because they did not get what they wanted when they wanted it. Rather than be gracious and thankful for our time efforts spent on their behalf, they have chosen to use this forum to defame me and my company. We care about the needs of our customers and look forward to helping everyone that we can, Vince Curcio – Bizzzy Bee.
