Phil was prompt in responding with quote and offered suggestions to improve the finished product. His team did a great job the finished floor was excellent .

After calling Hardwood they came out and provided a measurement. They then provided a estimate within a day. They then did all work as promised and 100 percent lived up to the estimate. They even came out prior and sanded and put three stain colors on the floor and left them for three days so we could look at the correct color of stain that goes with our furniture. They cleaned up after they were done and the work was beyond our expectations.

Don't look any further, Phil and his crew at Hardwood Giant will NOT disappoint! Phil was able to come out right away for a quote and begin the next week! He was helpful in fitting to our budget and we could not be happier with the results! We had about 1700-1800 square feet of hard wood floors refinished (original to the 1972 house). They look brand new, everyone that sees them is blown away by the work! Phil was completely professional and called or emailed my husband at least once a day to update on the progress. He was extremely responsive and helpful! The floors were finished right on time (approx 5 days) and Phil even threw in a few extra bits of molding around our fireplace and between our kitchen and den to make sure our final result went beyond our expectations! He really knows his stuff and we felt confident we were going to get a great product when we were finished. We had another quote that was a little cheaper, but Phil and his crew were SO worth the extra few $100. We absolutely got what we paid for! We would use Hardwood Giants again in a heartbeat!se

Overall, the flooring work went very well. Phil and his team came out on Monday to do the tear out of the existing floors and install of the new hardwoods. They stained on Tuesday and did three coats of polyurethane on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Had there not been issues with the damaged baseboards, they would have been completely finished in a week. When we brought the damaged baseboards to Phil's attention, he promptly came out to our house to look at them and purchased new baseboards right away. He had his guys paint them and put them up soon after, and added one more coat of polyurethane to the floors. I was very impressed with Phil's extreme responsiveness and willingness to get the job done right. Problems come up when you are dealing with an old house (apparently it was a more difficult tear out due to the way the old floors were installed), so the fact that the baseboards were damaged was much less important to me than how the team dealt with it. Phil offered to replace them right away at no charge, and I was very happy with his response. There was no discussion or negotiation required. The floors are absolutely beautiful and have completely changed the look of our house. I would hire Hardwood Giant again in a second and recommend them to anyone wanting new or refinished hardwoods.

It could not have gone much better, We had long wanted to be rid of the old carpet in our upstairs master bedroom and really wanted a hardwood floor like we have in dining room, living room and entry foyer on 1st level. We had interacted with one of the local big box home improvement retailers and we didn't like their product or process - at all. We sent out some emails late one evening to a couple of area wood floor installation companies and Phil Gilbert replied back within 20 minutes at 10 pm +or- advising he'd call us directly the next morning during normal working hours to discuss our proposed project. Sure enough Phil called by 9:30a the next morning and made an assessment appointment for that same afternoon. Phil arrived early (somewhat refreshing) and was very professional and explained in normal terms the product and process he intended to provide and perfrom. Phil was good enough to provide a cost break-down by areas. He quoted installing new wood in our upstairs master bedroom, closet and halwway and downstairs office (former living room). He also quoted refinishng and staining the existing wood floors on 1st level. Armed with an informative type-written estimate and Phil's plan of attack we chose to prioritize our master bedroom and closet and wanted it completed by Thanksgiving Phil's estimate might have been a little more than a lesser product and service from big box retailer. We just had a good gut feeling to proceed with Hardwood Giant. We scheduled the master bedroom and the wood was delivered within two (2) days and placed on-site to acclimate to our inside humidity levels for four (4) days. At the pre-described time Phil and his installation crew arrived and like a fine oiled and tuned machine moved furniture out, including a steel reinforced king sized bed frame, heavy wooden foot and head-boards, two (2) night stands, large armoir, two (2) dressers and two (2) recliner chairs. The the old carpet was ripped out and disposed of off-site. We occupied our guest bedroom while work being perfromed. At the end of the 1st day the bare wood planks were installed. The 2nd day the sanding and preliminary stain process began. Phil's men worked efficeintly during all phases and processes, including Saturday and Sunday to keep us on schedule for a Tuesday morning re-occupy of our master bedroom. Phil assisted with furniture re-install including that awful bed-frame. The new floor looks fantastic and we are very pleased with the way it looks and feels with bare-feet. We already have remaining work scheduled for next month and have two (2) other bedrooms we are considering as well for HardWood Giant to do for us after 1st of year.

The guy seemed to be a good and a very knowledgeable person. He couldn't do the tar flooring. I just felt more comfortable having somebody that had the stuff right there and who either could do both the jobs at 2 different times. They knew each other and they've been working together. I didn't have them do the job and I don't know enough about them. It was a free estimate. I was actually thinking of going with them and then I met the other group and I felt more comfortable with them. They treated me well. I was seriously thinking of going with them, but it was easier to just have one crew do the job because it can get hard to keep track of things when I've got 10 different contractors doing one thing. They were very quick to respond. The guy came on time. He was very professional. I would consider him for an estimate in the future depending on what I'm going to have done.

The overall work went good. The reason why tried them is they offered eco-friendly products. The workers were good. I would use them again in the future too.

After researching many companies using Angies List I contacted Phil Gilbert, owner of The HardWood Giant. Although he did not yet have a review on Angies List, he had a number of very positive testimonials on his web site. I also like the fact that his website had alot of consumer friendly information on it with regard to the different flooring choices that were available. I called Phil and set up a time for us to meet. He was prompt and very professional. He took the time to understand what I was looking to do with my areas and we discussed several options. I wanted to delineate the walkway area between the Entry/Dining area and the Family Room by running those boards perpendicular and outlining the area with a contrasting border. Phil explained that he would need to use wider boards for that area due to the direction of the floor joists and then talked me through what my border options would be if I chose to do that. After we had settled on what I wanted, Phil walked me thru the entire process from start to finish so I would know what to expect and told me he would have an estimate to me by the next day. I actually got the estimate that evening at 8:30pm. I had asked him to break the estimate for the closets out separately, which he did. I was so pleased with the price, that not only did I have the closets included but I sent him the dimensions for my sunroom and had that added onto the estimate. Everything went exactly as planned and the work that they performed far exceeded my expectations. The crew was quick and professional and they left the place spotless. When they came back to reset the furniture, they put felt pads on all of the surfaces that touched the floors. After completion of the job, Phil even provided me with a Bona Hardwood Floor mop kit. I would highly recommend Phil and his crew for any refinishing or new installation job. It was truly a pleasure doing business with him.
