We contacted Serpaco a few months ago, along with three other painting companies on Angie's List. Serpaco was one of only two that provided an estimate for us. One company did not return our call and one never sent us an estimate. Chris was very thorough in his assessment of work that needed to be done and provided a written estimate for us to consider. A week before the work was to start he contacted us to confirm the arrival time of the crew. They arrived punctually, and worked for four days providing the services needed. Each member of the crew was courteous and respectful, and worked hard, arriving early and staying late. Although not on site all the time, Chris was involved with supervising the whole operation, which was important to us. Once the house was pressure washed, he and his crew found several areas that needed repair, informed us of those, and recommended fixes. Most of the repairs were handled by Serpaco but some will need to be handled by other contractors with different areas of expertise. He also showed us some problems with our roof that need attention and explained what he would do were it his house. We are appreciative of his expert attention in these areas and the recommendations he made even though he gains no benefits except having satisfied customers! When the painting job was completed, Chris examined everything with a keen eye, making sure that every detail was taken care of. He was attentive throughout the project. We are very satisfied with the quality of work that was done and will recommend Serpaco to others.

Excellent! Very competative pricing and quality job!
Description of Work: Chris and Marco were just great professional painters to work with! We had the exterior of our house pressure washed, painted including windows with caulking and they did a fantastic job! We have a challenging larger house on a cliff, and they were not daunted! The guys were on time and anything I wanted they catered to me. They also did some inside painting for a great price during rainy days! The guys were excellent in follow up touch-ups. Chris kept us informed of progress and always called us back! Would absolutely recommend and use in the future!!!

I contacted Sepaco via their online interface for quoting. They were very quick to respond and flexible to set up a time to come out and review the the job and go over our requiremnts. Chris Gray was the project manager who came out to quote. He called to confirm the appointment and arrival time and was very thorough on going over our requirements.Chris reviewed our requirements and made very good suggetions that ranged from cost savings ideas to color selection and paint types that ultimately gave us an excellent overall job at a good price. Chris and his team very very flexible in working with our time frame and family schedule. The came when they said they would, did an excellent job and there were no surprises with the quote or the job. Quality was excellent, they cleaned up every day and worked around our family schedule as needed. I would highly reccomend they be considered. t

The crew showed up on Monday a week after I called to power wash the house. Nick had told me that they would wash it on Monday, and start painting on Wednesday. They took all the furniture off the screened porch, which was to be painted, power-washed the entire house (and they washed the back steps too, though those are brick and not part of this job, as well as the gutters), and put the furniture back. They forgot to bring in the windchimes, which was no big deal, and I appreciated that when they took the chimes out, instead of putting them on the ground or on a piece of furniture, they hung them in the trees, where they would not get damaged.Wednesday they could not paint because it was pouring, but they showed up bright and early Thursday morning. Nick came with them, introduced me to the team leader, and walked around with the TL and me discussing what needed to be done. They worked through Saturday and returned on Monday to finish. Because I did a color change, from a light color to a very dark green, they first did a base coat of green (after all the caulking and scraping and removal of stray hooks, and hammering in of loose nails). There was more rotten wood found than we had seen during our walk-around. In the back of the house, the two lowest boards across the deck and the part near the driveway had rot, and they replaced them. All of the boards surrounding the back door were rotten, we'd known about that, and they were replaced, as well as the inner and outer corners of the wall the back door is in. Those corners were replaced with non-wood products, but they look like wood, so that is just fine, and they won't rot again. As for the shed - all of the lowest boards, some of the wood around the windows, and both front panels required replacing. Basically they took the shed apart and put it back together, and it is in much better condition now than it was. I changed my mind about the color I'd selected for the shutters, and that became my gratis bonus, the paint and repainting of the shutters. And the TL also kindly moved a concrete pad that I had to a position at the bottom of the steps down to the shed, thus making a landing pad there that made the always-too-high bottom step safer for me. I've fallen up and down that step many a time - that small kindness from him was HUGE for me!Monday afternoon before the team left, the TL walked around with me inspecting the house, and fixing such little things as I noticed that had been missed - a cable out of its restraining hook, some remaining nail holes that had not been patched after the nails were removed... and then the crew cleaned up after themselves and left. Tuesday morning, Nick came, and HE inspected the house and shed with me. He found a couple of rags, and took them away, and also took all the empty paint cans from this job, and MANY empty or partly empty cans of paint that had been in the shed, both from my previous interior paint jobs and from the previous owner, at my request. I had only one complaint, really, through the whole project. Saturday they removed the furniture from the porch so they could paint the floor, and left it in the yard. I was away from home when they left, and returned to find my furniture in the yard, so at 10:30 at night moved it back onto the porch, not wanting wood and fabric exposed to damp ground/grass and the possibility of rain. I knew they had not painted the floor till late in the day, so I was concerned about putting furniture on it before it was thoroughly dry, but in the end, it was a good thing - it poured all afternoon Sunday and into Monday morning. In the end, I did not damage the floor. Nick said that it would be at least 24 hours before it should be used, if not more, depending on the humidity, and that the crew should have covered the furniture with plastic. I think putting it ON plastic would have been necessary also, to protect from the damp ground, but neither would have really protected it from the rainstorm we had. Had they asked, we could have put the porch furniture into the house or under the carport, which would have been better choices.Other than that - great job. Great crew, hard working, polite and clean - they themselves were clean, and they kept the premises clean and neat throughout the job, even when the amount of carpentry work made that a little difficult (all the wood, and the tools). They checked with me for anything they wanted to do, such as reusing some of the good wood from the boards that were removed (part of the board was rotten, but not all of it) in order to save some money on supplies. They asked permission to store some of their tools in the shed Saturday night, which I gave, and they always made sure that everything was picked up and neatened up before they left each day. The house looks great. Before and After pictures may be seen at https://picasaweb.google.com/rleguillow/ExteriorPaintJob2012I'm sorry I didn't think to take pictures while they worked on the shed - that was pretty amazing to see.
Description of Work: I've lived in my house for 6 years and it needed exterior painting when I moved in. Having finally gotten to the point I could take care of that, I requested estimates from 3 companies. Nick came to look at the house. One thing about our conversation surprised me - he asked if I was more interested in quality or price. Both, of course, but seeing my confusion, he explained further - was I doing a clean-up job to help sell the house, or was I planning to keep living in it? OK, that makes sense, I would not want to spend as much on it if I was just trying to make it pretty to sell. I certainly would not request Sherwin-Williams Duration paint, that is very expensive. I am planning on keeping the house, so I did request Duration. I showed Nick some rotten places that I knew about that needed repair. He pointed out others. We discussed the desired sheen of the paint - he recommended I don't use flat, and I went with his recommendation. He told me where they would caulk, and we discussed replacing some corner molding with non-wood products, since they were rotten and showed signs of having been repaired at least once previously. After talking our way around the house till I was sure Nick knew what I wanted, he gave me a large book of references to look at and we separated. He measured the house, and then went to his car to work on his estimate. 45 minutes later he returned and went over the estimate with me. He also told me about the 5 year warranty they provide on their work, and the little "bonus" that Serpaco does - they look for something that needs to be done, that they do gratis, as a show of appreciation for using them. His estimate was $3911. While we were talking, I realized that I'd completely forgotten about painting the small shed in the backyard. There was also an Angie's List discount that was confusing - it listed two expiration dates for a 10% discount, one that was just past, and one that was in 2013. He told me that it was expired and there are difficulties with the dates on the Angie's List website, but he would honor the 10%, though it was now 5%. The final estimate was $3800, which included the shed and the discount. Go figure - I added work and the price went down. After getting one of my other estimates (the other came too late) which was about twice that and much less attention to detail in the estimate (a hand scribbled note instead of the neatly filled out form that Nick had, about 10 minutes total on site, no measuring, etc.) I called Nick to tell him he had the job and we settled on a start date.
