Fast, clean, effective service.
Description of Work: Called to have leak in kitchen sink evaluated. They responded promptly and were at the house within a couple of hours, diagnosed the problem as being due to failure of the aging disposal and returned the next day to install a new disposal. No problems since.

On a Saturday morning we realized the plumbing was stopped up. With a house full of kids this is a common problem that we usually fix ourselves. However all out attempts failed, when sewage started backing up in the tub and shower we called Jim Dickerson Plumbing. They got someone scheduled to come out right away and the lady that took my call explained the cost for Saturday. I appreciated knowing a head of time. The plumber arrived on time (within an hour of calling) and got right to work. It ended up that a toilet was removed and the pipes were cleared from there. The plumber did a good job, cleaned up after himself and didn't waste any time fooling around, At that kind of hourly rate every minute counts. We did have a problem with the toilet leaking a little and they came back out and re seated the toilet. I was happy with there service and I used a coupon I got off of Angie's web site.

Last weekend I noticed water bubbling up from the edge of my driveway and flowing down the street. At 8AM Monday morning I called Jim Dickerson's office and explained that I thought a sewer line was blocked and water was leaking. Within 20 minutes Thomas was at my house. You can't even get pizza delivered that fast!! He knew right away it wasn't the sewer and he set about analyzing what the real issue was. He was VERY thorough and explained everything that he was doing and why he was doing it. He determined there was a leak in the line between the house and the water meter. Once he determined what the issue was, he explained what needed to be done and how much it would cost. This was no small job - they had to dig from the meter, under the driveway, and up the hill to the house. This was complicated by our lawn irrigation system and the very rocky soil all along the area where they had to dig. I thought the price they quoted me was fair and I liked the idea that they would do the work for a flat rate. Thomas and his team really earned their pay the day they dug up my yard because of all the rocks they hit. He was in communication with me throughout the entire job and made sure I understood the whole process. At one point he had to go into the house to turn on the water at the main valve. I had left a key in case they needed access, but Thomas stilled called me at work to let me know that he was going inside. I was so impressed that he was so respectful. Respect seems to be a company value because every person I spoke with at there office also treated me the same way. What could have been a really traumatic and expensive experience was quite pleasant because I choose Jim Dickerson. These folks are the most professional, most respectful, and best priced plumbers EVER! I highly recommend them for all you plumbing needs.

Discovered a leak at the meter on a Sunday afternoon. Left an email via Angie's List for the company and got a response first thing Monday with a team out about 90 minutes later to assess the situation. With a clear explanation of the issue, several options of various prices (and the pros and cons of those options), we made a decision to replace the entire water main from the meter to the house. We were told what to expect (a trench, potential root damage to a tree, sprinkler system damage that they would fix, an inspection by the county that they coordinate, etc) and the timing of all the activity (work would take 4-6 hours, inspector takes a day or two to come out, and then they would come back to cover the line). Everything went like clockwork; exactly as explained. We happily wrote the check (which was requested only after all work had been completed!) and would absolutely recommend this to anyone who asks us. On top of a job well done, some other things that made the company exceptional:- They went out of their way to leave our landscaping as unharmed as possible: careful where they stepped and where they put their equipment. - They set expectations upfront on what might get damaged and what they were and were not responsible for.- They communicated throughout the entire job - When investigating the problem, they asked if they could enter our backyard (it's fenced) vs. just doing it and very careful about closing the fence behind them...truly appreciated as we have dog.

The shower head in my master bath had started to drip long after the shower was turned off. Since the house was 20 years old, I suspected a worn part was allowing water to bypass the shut off valve. This is a single handle assembly that you pull out to turn on and push in to turn off. I originally contacted a plumber that I had previously used. When their service person arrived, he immediately told me that do to the age of the house, replacement parts would not be available and that they would have to cut into the closet wall (which backed up to the tub) and replace the entire assembly from behind. He claimed that these parts became obsolete after 5 years. This sounded fishy, so I declined to have him start the job. I did some research over the weekend and found what appeared to be replacement parts on line. I contacted Jim Dickerson plumbing this morning and explained the situation. (The other company will no longer be getting any of my plumbing business). The phone rep suggested taking pictures of the shower and emailing them to her so that she could contact the manufacturers rep to see if parts were still available for this model. I was told at that time that if they could find the parts, the job would not take more than their 1-hour minimum service charge + parts. If the part was not available, the service guy would be able to give me an on-site estimate for the bigger job. The phone rep called me back to say that she was playing telephone tag with the manufacturers rep, so the service guy would not be able to arrive within the specified time window. I agreed that this was acceptable since I was hoping to have an easier repair with a replacement part. The repairman arrived with the part in hand and was able to make the repair within a few minutes. In fact, I'm pretty sure I could have done this myself and saved the service call. But I can't object to the price since it matched what I was told over the phone. I did get a $10 gas charge tacked on - I assume for picking up the part, which had not been mentioned. But it was still a lot cheaper than the amount quoted by the other plumbing company and less likely to lead to futher problems down the road since no pipes had to be cut and soldered. And I didn't have to have a hole cut in my wall! I appreciate that they made the effort to locate the part (which BTW did match the one I found on line) rather than blowing me off like the other plumber . I will definitely call Jim Dickerson the next time I need a repair. The repairman was very professional and took off his shoes in my entranceway.

Jim Dickerson Plumbing replaced a broken gas water heater in an attic space that had restricted clearance. They found a water heater that fit, removed the old water heater, installed the new water heater and brought the installation up to current code. Two other plumbing companies were not able to find a water heater that would fit. It was explained that the new gas water heater was expensive due to the lack of availability of low boy gas water heaters. Other than the price, the service was A+. I cannot evaluate the price fairly not having received competing quotes or an itemized invoice.

We needed a new garbage disposal. We called one day for an estimate and booked the job. Their price included the disposal as well as removal of the old one and installation of the new one. The cost was less than another company wanted for just the installation with us having to buy the diposal. Price also included an extended warranty. We had all work completed within 24 hours of our call. The installer was very professional and left the area spotless. We would certainly call this company in the future for other work.

Overall a good experience. The only ding, the price. I had a leak between meter and house in main line. Dickerson was helpful with info and sending someone out within the hour. A good review here and availabiltiy was the main reasons I chose them. Plumber had to make a return trip to shop although I was told they do these all the time and would have all the necessary parts. That could be part of the reason why the cost was $30 above the estimate. I'm a handy man but no plumber, however it did look like a quality repair and I expect good reliability from it. That, along with a quick response to having no water kept them in the A range.

I was floored from a water bill that I received from the town for 28 ccf of water usage, or approximately 21,000 gallons of water (within a 30 day billing cycle). Doing tests that I read on the internet and after calling the town, it was suspected that I had a water main leak. The town said that most likely it was on my property, so it was my responsibility to fix. I found Jim Dickerson Plumbing & Electrical on Angie's List and called them first thing Monday morning. They had someone over by mid-morning that day. He found that the leak was coming from my irrigation system, not my main water line. And by shutting off the water to there, he solved my water leak problem in the short-term. Repairing an irrigation system wasn't something that Jim Dickerson Plumbing & Electrical performed, so I'll need to locate another contactor for that. I was really impressed by his professionalism and courteousness. The fee for the home evaluation was reasonable. And he also provided an estimate for what it would've cost to replace the water main if that had been the issue. If I do need this work in the future they would've been my contractor of choice. I would definitely use Jim Dickerson lumbing & Electrical again!
Description of Work: Jim Dickerson Plumbing & Electrical sent someone over the same day that I called for an evaluation of my water leak. He identified that the leak was coming from my irrigation system, and not the main water line like I thought.

Great experience, I contacted Dickerson after I contacted my trusted HVAC company that advertised they now offer plumbing services. I thought that as it was a simple procedure to unplug a sink drain line and I would give them a try. They quoted $600.00!! So I contacted Dickerson whom I had used a few years ago at a different property. They were prompt and dealt with the situation quickly and efficiently. I saved $400.00 and am extremely pleased. Dickerson is the only company I will call from now on. Thank you.

Contacted them because I found their recommendations on Angie's list. The guy came out to fix my Roman Tub. I had issues with the Moen fixtures. He said he needed replacement parts and it would be cheaper for me to contact Moen and get the parts myself. I called Moen (he provided the contact information) and ordered the parts he told me to order. In addition, I took pictures and e mailed them to Moen to make sure I was getting the correct parts. This cost me an additional $230. I paid the plumber on the first visit $80 for a diagnostic visit. He came back after the parts were in and he still could not fix it. He could not get the faucet / pipe off the tub. He said he did not have the correct wrench to remove the pipe. These all seem pretty basic to me. He charged me another $147 and NOTHING has been fixed. I am now $457 into this plumbing repair project and I still have a broken faucet on my tub. I am now having to call another company to come start all over again. This is a five year old tub and faucets - it just does not make sense to me. If they cannot fix a faucet on a tub, I sure would not hire them for anything more complex, nor would I recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: The plumber came twice to repair a faucet on a Roman Tub, but has not fixed the problem. I am a total of $457 into this project and the plumber has been here twice and nothing is fixed.

Response from Jim Dickerson Co Plumbing Electrical HVAC
We have been to the member's home twice. The first trip we diagnosed the Moen tub valve needed a new diverter. Moen has a life time warranty on parts provided the parts are ordered from Moen directly by the homeowner. When we returned to install the parts provided by Moen they were not the correct. We contacted Moen and where told by 3 different technical support personal that these parts were correct. After being transferred multiple times within Moen we were told that there were no other parts to be sent. We informed the member of this and she was to let us know what she was going to do. We did send her an invoice for $147.00 for our services. The parts she received from Moen were free. Not sure why she spent $230 on parts. If she did, she needs to call Moen back to get credit for the parts that were sent. We are going to send a refund check back to the member for some of the service call or will be glad to return to her home once the correct parts have been obtained at no additional charge.

The service call was in response to the leaking temperature & pressure relief valve on my natural gas 50 gallon water heater which this same company installed in 2003. I had never had any problems with the heater until now and wanted to make sure the unit was operating efficiently and safely. The suspected cause of the leak was a worn out T&P relief valve, but new plumbing safety codes also require the addition of a thermal expansion tank to mitigate the usual fluctuations in water pressures in the community water system. The technician arrived within the prescribed time frame and worked efficiently and professionally. He carefully explained what and why he was doing the elements of his job. I have full confidence the water heater's life expectancy has been extended. I've used this plumber for two other jobs and they always impress me.

Description of Work: The toilet in downstairs powder room overflowed on a Saturday afternoon, and guest toilet was running slow. I called Jim Dickerson, received a recording with an emergency after hours number. The after hours number was answered immediately, and the technician (literally "Joe the Plumber") arrived within 30 minutes. He knew the problem and cleared the outside main sewer line. Joe also told me what repair was needed long term, and suggested a cost-efficient way his company might be able to make the repair. It was great that Dickerson had a tech here and got the problem fixed quickly on a Saturday afternoon. One drawback was that Joe did not have a camera to view the line, and told me his company could send a separate person to review the sewer line with a camera feed but it would cost an additional $350. I was surprised at this high cost given that other companies include video review as part of the sewer line service at a much lower charge.

From initial telephone call to completion of the job, I could not be happier. The call taker ("Monty"?) was such a joy to talk with. She took immediate ownership of the issue and had a service man scheduled to come to the house within 1.5 hours of the call. About 10 minutes later, the service man called, inquired about the problem; he asked all the right questions and was there within 45 minutes. I have read where others have been concerned about the price of their services, but, if you're injured and you need a surgeon, you don't have time to haggle over the price; you want the best and you want the best as soon as possible. Thus my situation: I had a major leaking master cutoff valve, my carpet and drywall were suffering. I called; they responded VERY quickly and the problem was fixed and additional damage abated. I could not be happier. Yes, when the need arises, I will use Jim Dickerson Plumbing and Electrical again. Thank you, folks.

Called and asked about opening a very slow drain in the tub. Asked about fees and was told that I would be billed per hour with the first 15 min as travel time. Brandon worked very hard to open the drain. He was not certain if the connection at the tee was intact and said the only way to be sure is to cut a panel on the back side of the tub . I asked where the water would drain to if it was not intact, as I am on a slab. I was told that it would drain into the ground. I told Brandon that I have been planning to replace the tub in the future and it was recommended that I do it sooner rather than later. One thing that I did not ask when I arranged the service was if there were any other costs involved. I was billed for the use of their auger and a "GSC". I didn't realize that I would be charged a fee to have their equipment used. Brandon was punctual, very professional and completed the job that I called to have done. The drain was opened. I rated the quality of the service an A because the drain was opened. The concern about the tee being intact is one that I have to deal with and was given the option to cut into the wall behind the tub. Since I hope to remodel the bathroom soon, I didn't feel that I wanted the added expense of cutting and repairing the wall if the water would drain into the ground anyway.

We dispatched 4 plumbers to jackhammer customers sidewalk and reroute leaking waterline. We replaced 8' of waterservice that was leaking. We informed property owner that he had "bad pex" that was cracking like glass. We informed the property owner, while on the jobsite that he WILL have future problems with other waterlines that are in the same condition. He explained that he was well aware of the issue because he had multiple failures in the past due to the same issue. Customer is upset because he had another break on a different waterline about an hour after we had left. We dispatched another crew of plumbers to repair the second leak and he turned us away. The true problem is the bad pipes in the ground, customer was happy we got the job done quickly and efficiently while we were there, as I spoke to him personally that day. He is being very dishonest in his assessment and is upset because he had tenants without water and knows invariably he will keep having the same issue until all pipes are removed and changed.

Outstanding. Called were able to arrive 1/2 hour before scheduled time! Extremely great at what they do. Very professional & fast working. Tom & Terry took on a very difficult problem & were able to resolve. I had previously rented a 100ft. electric auger to clear the drain pipes under the house without any success. The end claw tip of our rented auger came off in the 15ft clog. I was so thankful that Tom & Terry were able to resolve our problems & that the drain is now completey cleared along with replacing an illegally placed sharp "Y" section from when the house was built. He also climbed on the roof & was able to clear a nest deep inside our vent pipe that we did not know was there. Top notch company with awesome employees named Tom & Terry. 5 STARS *****
Description of Work: Tom & Terry were awesome & professional. When setting up the appointment, the owner called to make sure what my needs were & explained all the costs invovled. He also allowed them to bring the Jet machine & not charge me if they did not use it which required a second truck to haul the jet machine. Luckily I did not have to use it. Tom really had great knowledge & was able to resolve all my issues, which included cleaning out a nest in the vent pipe that I would have never thought of. Unfortunately for me, my drain pipes were put in wrong when the house was built, before I purchased it, with many illegal curves. Tom went over what needed to be done to correct all the problems. They are extremely reasonably priced so I will be able to have them come back to redo the entire drainage system to make it all correct & avoid future problems. Tom & Terry also cut out an illegal sharp "Y" section & replaced it along with getting out a 15 foot solid drain clog, & adjusted the drainage pitch on our rental property. Unfortunately our renters never let us know they were having a problem, because they used the other working bathroom on the opposite side of the house. Would recommend Jim Dickerson Plumbing & will continue to use them as they work quickly, do awesome work, & are reasonable priced. 5 STAR COMPANY *****
