About us

Jim Dickerson Company, Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air is a family owned and operated company serving the Charlotte and surrounding areas. Jim, a Charlotte native, learned the plumbing trade from his father-in-law, Chester H. Creed, and worked with him for many years before starting his own company. Jim, along with his wife Judy, formed Jim Dickerson Plumbing in 1977. What began as a one truck operation has grown steadily over the years, and today we have a fleet of over 20 service vans. In 2005, we moved to our current 11,000 square foot location. This facility includes a 7,000 square foot warehouse that allows us to stock many commonly used parts, water heaters, and fixtures which helps us in providing prompt service. Jim's daughters, Debbie and Angie, decided after college to join the company and they currently manage the day-to-day operations of the office, including Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, and Accounting. Description of Work: Plumber reattached kitchen sink plumbing including disposal. Replaced 2 toilet working parts, and fixed a leaky shower head. Plumber very knowledgeable about what could and could not be done on sink reinstall, very good on everything else!!! Would definitely use again!!!

Description of Work: They came when they said they would. The plumber quickly determined what the issue was and thoroughly explained what work he would do. It was a two day drain issue where the pipe needed to be replaced. The plumber did a good repair and provided contact information should any future issue occur.

We have no records of this customer calling. All of our calls are recorded and logged when someone calls us. We also put everyone in our dispatching software and we have not record of this customer in this system. I have gone all the way back to January 1, 2013. I think he must have us confused with another company.

Description of Work: I had three small jobs -- replacing a leaky water supply pipe behind a toilet, replacing a garbage disposal, and snaking a frequently-clogged toilet -- and was very pleased that the plumber could do all three jobs in one visit lasting only 2-3 hours. The work was done right the first time and at a reasonable cost. The plumber was pleasant to work with and clearly cared about his work.

Description of Work: When I was in a pinch and had a water main break on the coldest day of the year, they took advantage of the situation and inflated the cost by about 100%. When I pulled back from the situation and got 2 other plumbers on the phone they quoted me $2000 worst case scenario. I had a local plumber fix the situation for $750.00 I will not call Dickerson again if I can help it!

We have not performed any services at this home. We did quote a water service replacement, relocating a hose bib and insulating pipes back in January of 2014. She was under no obligation to accept this quote. We do not inflate prices due to emergency situations. We also have customers call wanting a ballpark prices on a water service replacement. We give them a ballpark price over the phone but ALWAYS tell them we need to make a site visit to confirm. Her problem required this. This job also requires a permit to be issued from the City of Charlotte. Whoever replaced this line for her did not pull a permit. We always follow the rules and bring any items that do not meet code, up to code. This does raise the cost of the job. Someone who is not getting their work inspected would not have this issue.

Description of Work: We called Dickerson, whom we've used before, to report a clogged toilet. Because it was an early model of the low-water flush types, it didn't have good suction during the flush, and it clogged about every six months. During the call, I asked Dickerson about a replacement. They recommended either a Toto or Kohler that does has a powerful flush. We chose the Toto, and Dickerson arrived within two hours to replace the old toilet. They, as usual, were polite, thorough, neat, and quick. We continue to recommend them highly.
