Thank you for the great review! It was a pleasure to work with all of you (you, your brother and mother) on this project helping to deal with mold issues and selling your family home place. I'm very impressed that you all work together so well. Good luck in your sale!Service Provider Response
Thank you for your comments. We are always looking for constructive criticism and new ways for us to improve. I am very sorry you were unhappy with my service, and sincerely hope you find a contractor who is interested in your project. I am sorry it took me so long to respond with a referral. Please recall that I mentioned we are, at the moment, very busy with design/build projects and that I referred you to a very reputable flooring subcontractor who I am sure can handle your project. If you contact me again by email (last time you unfortunately called when I was driving), I can also refer you to a handyman who can help with your bathroom vanity. We strive to do high quality work, and we consistently perform our work to the satisfaction of the overwhelming majority of our customers. If you would like to discuss anything further, please contact me directly by text or email.Service Provider Response

This customer purchased an Angie’s List “Big Deal” coupon for eight hours of general contractor time at a discounted rate. We provided this customer with a detailed estimate for repairing the rotting cornices and wood chimney. Had she accepted our offer, she would have saved 3% on the price of the job. As it stands, we did no work for this customer, arranged to have all her money refunded, and her “Approximate Cost” was, in fact, zero. We do not agree with her rating and strongly feel this is an unfair review.Service Provider Response
We always try to do the right thing and to do things right. Even though this job was small, it required a building permit and many of the same inspections as for a larger job. A handyman might do this job for less money but without the proper inspections the work could not be done legally. A general contractor costs more, but we believe you get what you pay for. A hot topic in local building inspections departments today is “Non-Permitted Work”. During real estate transactions, appraisers and home inspectors sometimes discover older home improvements that were done without the appropriate permits. The seller is then required to correct the errors, often at a tremendous cost. Inspections departments require, for example, covered walls to be removed to the bare studs and all work to be brought up to current standards. We were involved in two such projects in the last year, one cost $15k and the other $80k just to bring the properties up to current standards. Doing things the right way the first time around is typically much less expensive. This customer purchased an Angie’s List “Big Deal” coupon for eight hours of general contractor time at a discounted rate. The work he wanted would have taken a lot more than eight hours, so we gave him an appropriate estimate for the job. We also sent him a pdf drawing (for no charge) suitable for purchasing a building permit. Unfortunately, he felt our price was too high, so we asked Angie’s List to refund his money. His actual cost was zero, not $249.Service Provider Response

As contractors we always try to please our customers and look for ways to do that. In retrospect, I should have declined your light fixture changing task on your very high ceiling before showing up. Instead I wanted to scope it out and see if there was anything we could do to help. I apologize for, as you wrote me privately, "wasting your time". Bless your heart and good luck to you! Dear Reader, please note. We did not perform any work for this customer. She had purchased a coupon for 8 hours of service and not only did we arrange to refund her purchase, we also gave her a referral to an electrician who would be better able to complete her work.Service Provider Response

We were established in 2006 through a lot of sweat, tears and 80-hour work weeks, like most small businesses. I left my cushy upper management job in corporate to take over the great business my wife had started. She had decided to make our home a happier place by learning to paint faux finishes through our home like marbled ceilings and a brick painted patio. Then the neighbors wanted them, their friends and so forth. The name "Express Yourself Paint" came from customer's expressing their unique character through faux finishes. We started out in an eight-foot utility trailer with the forty-foot ladders hanging out to infinity with red flags tied to them and a used spray gun. We looked more like the Red Neck Painters of Raleigh. Thanks to all those trusting souls who allowed us to paint for them in those early days! We came from humble beginnings, but we wanted to create a different kind of painting company. A company that is high performance, uses modern technology for communicating and scheduling making for a more satisfied customer experience while still applying paint the old fashion way...brushes, rollers and sprayers. Our desire to be different has resulted in us becoming the largest and most successful repaint company in the Triangle. All that said, we still trip over our own feet sometimes and as of yet have not discovered how to be perfect. Give us a try and we will most definitely put our best foot forward for you. We can't leave the light on for you because we are at your home painting, but we will definitely bring all the paint and the fixings. Our sincere wish for you is to experience, "The Power of Paint!"
