Norm Reilly reviewed the scope of repairs that I had prepared prior to his visit. Both of us walked the exterior and interior of my home. He was attentive to my scope and helped in noting other areas. He was the third Angie's list handyman repair service I had looking at my scope and home. His pricing was very competitive with the others. The other two were good but Norm seemed to differentiate himself. Norm's team of carpenters showed up and completed the repair work in about 3 days. They were very professional, competent and friendly. The repair quality was excellent. They replaced the rotted wood with a composite that would not rot in the future. With all the repairs to the exterior, a complete painting of the house was necessary. Norm's paint crew did an excellent job with the painting. On the interior of the home (painting of the ceilings), I was particularly impressed with the cover and protection of my walls, furniture and flooring. This was one area I was concerned with and their attention to detail here was much appreciated. I will definitely use Norm Reilly for any future repairs to my home. Quality work!
Description of Work: Our 15 year old home was in need on repairs. Wood rot was repaired on fascia, soffit and trim areas of the home with non-rot composite boards. Gutter repair. Replacement of front steps treads and rear deck top rails. Replaced deteriorated and damaged shingles. Replace back roof boots on vent pipes. Replaced siding on both sides of dormer. (correct home builder problem) Repaired kitchen window sash, sill and replaced the nose. Two exterior doors needed jams and brick molds replaced. Four rows of siding needed to be replaced that were bowing out. (correct home builder problem) Replaced 2 tube florescent light with 4 tube in tall crawl space. Replaced weather striping on door. Replaced window sash kit. Repair to laundry bi-fold door track. Repair sheetrock in laundry wall. Sealed ceiling stain in kitchen and living room and painted same. Power wash, caulk and paint house, front porch and rear deck.
Mr. Reilly's work crews showed up on time and completed the work when they said they would get it done. Mr. Reilly and his work crews were very professional, courteous and trustworthy. I was very pleased with the quality of the work that was done at my home. I would not hesitate to use Reilly's Handyman Services again. I highly recommend Reilly's Handyman Services for general home repairs.

It went very well. Norm had built the extra studios in my gallery last December so he was my first thought to call for this home project. His team came out and got the job done....it's not easy either: some of the wood to be replaced was on the side of our chimney and involved a steeper-than-usual roof.

They were fairly expedient both in meeting me to access the repairs and providing a quote. Mr. Reilly also provided me with a separate quote for the cost to repaint the entire exterior of the house. He explained that repainting the entire house may be a good idea as it was difficult to match the old paint exactly on the areas where the hardie plank was replaced. I decided that I did not want the entire house painted and I would just have them do the repairs and the paint. So they got the work scheduled and completed the project in a few days. The day it was completed Mr. Reilly called me and requested the balance of the payment for the project. I went out to inspect the work and found that the shade of the new paint was very different from the original paint. So I brought this up to Mr. Reilly and he explained once again that it was difficult to match the original paint since it had faded over the years etc. and that was the best match they could get. He also reiterated that they would happy to paint the entire house if I would like them to but they couldn?t do anything about the match. I got the message he was sending but instead of hiring them to paint the house I went to the paint store myself and had them match the original paint and brought it home and painted it myself and the match is perfect now. I?m not sure what they did when they went to match the paint but the paint they used was definitely a different shade. Although most of the work they did was satisfactory I was very disappointed with how they handled this paint issue. In addition, they left some residual debris in my yard after completing the work. All in all I just don?t feel they run a very professional business and would certainly not recommend them to anyone else.
Description of Work: I hired Reilly handyman services recently to repair/replace some hardie plank siding that was rotting on my house. After inspecting the exterior of the house and determining how many segments of siding as well as some wood trim pieces needed replaced I was provided with a quote to replace the deteriorated siding and to repaint those areas.

Response from Reilly's Handyman Services
The house was severely overdue for painting. Some of the paint on the walls were turning to powder and others were badly faded from the sun. We matched one wall of paint and the others don't match because of the fading. I told the customer we matched the original color and once the house is power washed it will blend in better. The customer didn't seem displeased, I wish I understood he wasn't 100% satisfied or I would have done something additional. My policy is to make my customers completely satisfied as my record shows.
It went well. When I reached out and left a telephone message, the owner, Norm, returned my call the same day, came out to my home (within a day or two) to look at the project I wanted and gave me a written quote on the spot. Mind you, this is the way to do business. ( I can't even tell you the number of contractors I called who never returned my call, or even went as far to come out to my home to give me a verbal estimate, say they wanted the work, was told by me they would get the job if I received a written estimate then nothing - no follow up!) I only had one other contractor follow through who also seemed good but Norm beat him on the price. Norm's son, Ryan, led the team that did the work. They were able to do the project in a week and even better they were able to fit me in the week that fit best for my schedule. I was worried about the dust created by the work and they were conscious of my concern and covered floors, sawed wood outside etc.. It was not an easy job given my project was on the third floor, all stairs, hot summer days. I am happy with my closet and now my bonus room is a proper bedroom. They blended the same floor trim, paint color etc... So it looks like this house was built with that closet. Norm was responsive to my texts and kept me abreast of the work schedule. I would use Reilly Handyman Services again.
Description of Work: Created a walk in closet: Rolled back carpet. Framed "L" shaped wall. Sheet rocked. Mud up sheet rock joints. Created custom shelving and closet rod hanging space on interior. Painted. Stretched to fit carpet back into place. Also, because center point of room shifted due to addition of closet wall, the light fixture was removed and a new fan/light fixture was installed in new center of ceiling.
Norm Reilly was very responsive on the quoting; after scheduling there was some confusion and a little lack of communication on their part, but once the work was started, it was done quickly and appears to be good quality. I would cal them again.
Description of Work: power washed the house; painted the trim and the foundation

spent 4 days last week and 1/2 day past Monday to finish job, which was a rush job. norm came out and gave me a written estimate on the spot. None of the other contractors, who are all on Angie's List, did that, but had to compute estimate and e-mail it to me. painting crew worked hard and was very professional. A great improvement to the house.
Description of Work: painted the outside of our three story house including trim, hand railing, screened in porch, and replaced outside fan . Also fixed an electrical issue which fixed our garage door opener among other things.

We are very pleased with the professional and prompt service we got from Norm and his crew. Norm quickly and fairly estimated the cost for our job. The repairs were completed within a couple of days after the estimate. Victor and his paint crew worked competently to complete the finish on the exterior and deck in 5 days with no damage to our landscaping. Great job! We have already recommend his team to our neighbors.
Description of Work: Power washed, caulked and painted entire exterior of a Hardie plank house. The job included carpentry repair, installation of a new screen door and staining the screened porch, exterior deck and stairs.

Carpenter, Jeff, was excellent and efficient. Although it's great that Norm, the owner writes the estimate on the day of his visit, it would be helpful if he provided more detail as it made it slightly a challenge to decipher the specific work to be completed when Jeff was here. The painters worked very diligently and seemed to be effective and efficient. The only complaint I had was the lack of attention to detail when painting the trim in the back of the house. They ended up getting paint on my freshly cleaned deck, not using drop cloths and not even noticing the paint until I pointed it out after they had already completed their final walk through. It was all resolved in the end when they promptly came back and cleaned and restrained portions of the deck.
Description of Work: Two jobs: carpentry work completed to replace rotting wood on fascia and several window sills. Secondly, his crew painted the trim on house.

Reilly's did a great job. Despite weather interruptions, my husband and I felt that the work was done quickly and more importantly with high standards. I felt like Norm was more thorough when looking at the house and being honest about what needed to be done. I had two companies (one was Reilly's) one was another, that came to provide estimates and the other company did not seem to be as thorough. We are very happy with the work that was done and are looking forward to planning the next project.
Description of Work: Reilly's repaired a lot of wood rot around our home as well as replaced our front porch handrails and porch steps. They chalked and painted all of the house trim and painted the porch. They also repaired water damage to our bedroom ceiling and painted the entire bedroom ceiling.

It went very well, and the work was done more promptly than I'd expected. I am very pleased with the new door frame, with the professionalism and affability of both Mr. Reilly and his workers, both of whom spoke English. That is a plus!
Description of Work: Two workers rebuilt and repaired a doorway my husband had taken apart in order to get a desk that was too large to fit through the door. Mr. Reilly had told me that he could probably not fit me in for 4- 6 weeks, bu in just a few days he had a change of schedule and worked me in! The workers were polite, professional, and did quality work. I m very pleased with this service. They left the door in better shape than they found it, as it no longer needs a door stop to keep it open. I may hire them to make all my upstairs doors stay open properly!

After another contractor flaked on me, I called Reilly Handman. Reilly sized up the job, gave me an estimate on the spot and a quick start date. The siding crew was fantastic- they showed up exactly when they said they would every single day, they kept me informed, and checked in with me when there was an option on how something could be done. They kept their work area cleaned up, and were proud to show off their finished work. I cant imagine them being more professional. There wasn't as much contact with the painters but they seemed to know their job and went to it. The results were very good. Based on an overall positive experience, I would definitely get bids from Reilly on my future work.
Description of Work: Siding replacement and painting.
My house was way overdue for exterior painting and rotten wood repair. Working with Norm and his crew has a great experience. Norm walked around the house with me to discuss everything that needed to be done and what the options could be. Through the Angie's List membership, I was able to upgrade to the better quality paint for the lower quality paint price. It took the crew about a week to do all of the painting and repair work. They worked quietly and efficiently. It was no bother at all to have them at my house for so long. Norm is someone I feel that I can trust and will have him back to do more interior remodeling when I get around to working on that.
Description of Work: repaint entire exterior of large home with masonite siding; changed color of shingles; lots of rotten wood repair around home; stained deck; replaced screened-in porch screens; replaced porch doors; rebuilt front porch railing; repaired mailbox post; repaired front door moulding
The entire job took several weeks and went very well. Norm's people are reliable--they come when they are supposed to, they clean up at the end of the day and we are comfortable having them come and go when we are not home. They are good about dealing with unexpected issues and offer expert advice when needed. We found Norm through Angie's List several years ago and were so pleased with his work that we have hired him for several projects. He has installed vinyl replacement windows, replaced damaged siding, installed a new gutter and replaced a skylight. We already have more projects lined up for him. The quality of the workmanship is so good that we never get a second estimate. We depend on Norm for everything.
Description of Work: Norm replaced everything in our master bathroom except the tub and cupboards (ceramic tile, shower enclosure, toilet, mirrors, countertop, light fixtures and exhaust fan) and painted the room.

but Mr. Reilly responded professionally, was able to look at the job the day we talked, and gave me an estimate on the spot. I had one other builder look at the job and Reilly was in the ball park with a more professional presentation. I have contracted him and will review again when we finish.
Description of Work: We have not started the project yet
Mr Reilly did the estimate and provided me a decent price for the work to be completed. I assumed once they began to pull things off they would find more that needed to be repaired and thats happened. Given that, the price went up slightly, but I anticipated this would happening so after it was all said and done pricing was comparable to others who provided estimates. The team he had at the house was on time every day, very courteous, friendly and professional. Mr. Reillys son was part of the crew and he was at the job supervising/working all day, every day. I felt very comfortable with them in the house, his son even gave me pointers for some minor repairs I could do on my own. The job took a few days to complete there was some weather challenges, they told me when they were coming and when they were not...they set clear expectation and communicated on progress. I couldn't have asked for more. Overall, an excellent experience and I will be using them again.

I got an estimate from Mr Reilly for power washing, staining and sealing my deck and gazebo, but then a few weeks later I noticed an Angie's list company that specialized in that service, had an Angie's award and excellent reviews so I got a quote and went with them because they were less money, and that was their area of expertise. I have not used Mr Reilly services yet.
Description of Work: Mr. Reilly came out to look at the work I had to do and wrote up an estimate right on the spot. I appreciated that. I thought I was ready to do the job, but then decided I needed to organize myself and make a plan. I was not sure whether I was staying in my home, renting or selling. I needed to prioritize depending on whether my new job allowed me to stay in my house or I had to move. I considered Mr. Reilly's estimate and held on to it until I knew how I wanted to proceed.

Norm gave me an estimate a little over 2 years ago (we procrastinated quite a bit) to replace our rotting front railings. I called Norm two weeks ago to see if he could replace the rails for us. He had our estimate from two years ago (as did I) and said he'd come out to take a look at the railings again to see what materials were needed, and that the estimate would be the same most likely ($600- it was the same), but he would let me know if not. I asked him if he could fit us in his schedule in the next two weeks, and he said sure! He called me a week later and confirmed his guys would be coming out the next day to fix the railings. His guys arrived the next morning, did a good job replacing the rails and did a nice job cleaning up after themselves and the old railings. I called Norm the next day to let him know they did a good job, but did ask if his guys could come out and sand the railing a little bit and make a few nailheads a little more flush with the top of the railing. Norm was very polite regarding my (minor) concerns, and said he'd send the guys out that day or the next to add the finishing touches. That night we noticed the guys had come out that day and we were very pleased with the results. They did a great job replacing the rotten railings and made them look just like they did before. Norm was very responsive, his guys were very polite and did a good job, and we appreciated that he took the time to fit us in his schedule, especially since we procrastinated for a little over 2 years!

The work was done professionally and well. We would hire them again.
Description of Work: A Siding job ..... removed the old siding and replaced it with a new durable siding. Power washed the house and driveway and painted the entire exterior of the house. Repaired, caulked and painted the windows wherever needed. Removed wallpaper from one bathroom and painted it. We were impressed with Norm and his attention to detail when providing an estimate.
Norm is a pro. Does things right and is very complete in preparing estimate of work to be done. They did some things that I asked for that were not in original estimate at no extra cost. When mistakes are made he will make sure you are completely satisfied with the remedy. In this job a truck damaged the yard but I was satisfied with the remedy (new sod installed). Bottom line: it appears to me that Norm Reilly is more concerned that his customers are completely satisfied even if it costs him some money.
Description of Work: Tear off of old roof on house and detached garage and replaced with new architectural life time warranty shingle roof. New chimney flashing and construction of chimney cricket. The repair guys showed up on time and pounded out everything quickly and without any problems. The power wash went off with out a hitch. The painting was the tale of two projects. It had a shaky start and we were concerned that the quality was not really what we expected, but with one call to Norm and a single job walk, the trouble spots were cleaned up, a few spots repainted and we now have a great paint job. Norm and his guys even helped us remove some white halos that appeared in our siding after the power washing. All in all, we feel we got a great job for a very fair price and will not hesitate to call Norm for anything we need done in the future.

Norm's crews were all very courteous, and very careful around all of our foundation plantings, including some small seedling flowers. All of the trim and siding that was rotting was replaced, every seam caulked and the house repainted. It looks brand new now. The work was done neatly and professionally. We are very happy with the result. The crews worked every day except a Sunday from the time they started to when they finished, so the whole job took only about 8 working days. The yard was spotless after they left - great cleanup job. We plan to use them again when we replace the roof. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Replaced numerous rotted hardboard siding pieces with hardiplank, replaced rotted trim pieces behind sunroom gutter, replaced numerous corner and window trim pieces that were rotting, replaced missing cedar roof shakes, repaired front porch columns, and caulked and repainted entire house.
We noticed a leak in the ceiling of our garage and into our living room ceiling as well during a period of heavy rains. I climbed into the attic space over the garage and saw that there was water coming in between the joists where the garage meets the house. I immediately suspected that the original builder did not install the corner flashing correctly. I wanted it fixed properly, so I called Norm around 11:30 AM. He said their schedule looked full for that day but he would see what his crew could do. By 3:00 PM a 5-man roofing crew was on my roof doing the repairs. They confirmed my suspicions about the improperly installed flashing and properly installed a new one. The entire crew was professional and polite, and the entire job was finished within an hour. I have some other jobs that need to be done, and Norm and his crew will be the first ones I call.
