+ -1 moreI have a 5yr old home and the garage door fell down twice in that time. The company who did the install wasn't helpful either time but more than willing to take more money for a similar replacement. I received several quotes from other vendors for a complete replacement and Mike with Grand Openings provided me with the most information and the best price on the highest quality door. Mike replaced everything and completed the install within the same week I placed the order. He was very knowlegeable about his products and a nice, trustworthy guy. I would recommend and use him again without a doubt. The new Grand Openings door is whisper quiet and much better insulated which makes a dramatic difference every time we step foot in the garage. Thanks Mike!

+ -1 moreI can't say enough about the service we received. This review is a little late in coming. He was on time, friendly, and professional. After his arrival he did a review of the entire system, from door, to opener to tracks. They determined that the incorrect pull was used and he happened to have the correct one on the truck and replaced it at no charge. This was not just a maintenance call. I could tell he cared about what he did and what he worked on. He straightened out a couple other issues that were not part of the package, again at no charge. They weren't big items, but he really just wanted everything to be right. I am thankful people like this still exist. Honest, earnest, caring people who care about what they do and want to do the right thing. I wish he offered other services outside of garage doors as I'd hire him for every maintenance item in my home.

+ -1 moreService was excellent! The doors are much quieter and a loud grinding sound is gone (it was caused by the door tracks being poorly aligned). Overall I am very happy and will definitely call Grand Openings when I need future garage door work!
Description of Work: Metal garage door rollers were replaced with nylon. Garage door tracks were adjusted and straightened. Garage door lifting spring was tightened. All moving parts of the garage door were lubricated.

+ -1 moreWhen our 16-yr old garage door spring broke unexpectedly, we called Mike after seeing his outstanding reviews on Angie's List. He offered to come that day, Saturday, or even Sunday, if we needed to get our car out. We didn't, and settled on Monday. He showed up 5 minutes early, and gave us a price in 5 minutes. We suggested we were willing to replace the door but he assured us the door was still good. His estimate was right on the spot, and he did the work on the spot, too. When he finished, our door operated and sounded better than ever, and that is no joke. Awesome experience start to finish. Having once been the target of a national garage door company's ripoff scam, I am confident our Angie's List membership just paid for itself. TIP: when hiring a company to service your garage door, make sure they are REALLY local, because some of the big companies will try to rip you off. Ask hard, pointed questions. If they suggest your door is extremely dangerous or needs to be completely ripped out and replaced, be very, very slow to believe them.
Description of Work: Mike replaced our broken spring, the rusty bearings, and a few rollers. He also lubricated and inspected all the moving parts.

After making a minor adjustment to fix the door, he offered me the $99 garage door tune-up special in lieu of a $60+ service charge, so I would get a better deal. He was very professional and friendly, and my garage door makes less noise when I open it now. I would use Grand Openings again.

+ -1 moreI called the end of September and set an appointment for the following week. The tech arrived on schedule and started work right away. He found the tracks were never installed properly and had do do alot of work to realign them. He repalced the rollers with new nylon rollers and checked and reset the safety lights. He also repaired a small dent in the bottom panel of the door. He had me check the operation before he left to be sure I was happy with the result. The door worked better than it ever had was almost whisper quiet. Great service and well worth the money. Best yet no extra charges for the work done.
Description of Work: Purchased Big Deal $99 garage door tune up and roller replacement. My door was extremely noisy and I hoped this would help improve the operation.

He went about his work deliberately so that no time was lost and the work completed within a reasonable time frame. When the job was completed, I offered to expand the scope of work to include his syncing the garage opener to my cars on board devices. He agreed to do this work and performed the additional work without charge.
Description of Work: The scope of work included replacing the door rollers and greasing the rails. The job was done professionally and within the time frame indicated by the contractor. All debris was removed by the contractor who left the job site in very good order. All work was performed for the agreed price even with additional requests by me to calibrate the door opener to the garage opening devices in my cars. Do use this contractor for your garage door needs.

+ -1 moreThe owner of the business showed up when scheduled and he called right before he got to the house. The work proceeded quickly and efficiently. About 4 months later the rollers started to jump the track and it was difficult to get them back in position, so we called the owner again and he came out and reset the roller track. They jumped the track again which necessitated a third trip. It's an old door and will probably have to be replaced eventually, but we were not charged for the last two visits and did not feel any pressure to purchase a new door. So far everything is working perfectly and is much better than the original operation. We would definitely recommend this business.
Description of Work: i had our 25 yr.-old wooden garage door serviced: rollers were replaced with new teflon ones and all joints were oiled and realigned. The result was a very quiet door when opened and closed using the existing motorized garage door opener.

+ -1 moreIt is unfortunately so rare when I encounter service personnel who are of exceptional caliber, that they stand out. Michael Ropeleweski is in a class by himself. Punctual, curteous, knowledgeable, skilled, friendly and best of all HONEST!! A rare combination of attributes, to say the least. Mike arrived and listened to what I had to say about the issues I was having. He immediately knew what the problem was and confirmed it with an inspection. Mike was good to both explain and show me the problem. He then offered a number of different repair options, explaining the pros and cons of each alternative and the costs involved. He also offered his recommendation - which was not the most expensive option, nor the easiest for him to perform. He based it on cost/benefit and value - for me, the customer. Mike performed the repairs with precision, demonstrating a knowledge and skill that only years in the business can provide. Garage doors age and parts wear out - often sooner from lack of effective maintenance (guilty as charged). I know that if I ever need another repair or a new install of a garage door who I will call. It will be Mike at Grand Openings Garage Door. I have already recommended him to my neighbors. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

+ -1 moreIf you are reading this, chances are you are looking for someone to either repair or provide maintenance on your garage door. Look no further, because all the great reviews you see here about Grand Openings are totally true. On the night of the election, I got home from voting only to find that my garage door wouldn't shut. The door somehow came off track, so I tried to put it back on. If you've ever tried this yourself, you probably realized 2 things: 1- those doors are heavier than they look and 2 - if it's come off track, there's probably something big going on and you don't want to make it worse. Therefore I decided to call a pro. I am so glad I called Mike at Grand Openings. We quickly agreed on a time the next day. He was punctual, thorough, honest, personable, and explained the entire situation. He was able to fix everything in one visit and really took the time to do it right. On a scale of 1 to 10, Grand Openings was a 10.

Description of Work: This is my first service review. I am only writing this because of how impressed I was with Grand Openings. I would absolutely use them again and I would not hesitate to recommend them (in fact I have several times already to friends). Seldom have I been so impressed with such great service and professionalism. I had the old style springs replaced (with the correct size now) and also replaced the old metal rollers with the newer quite rollers. There was also some custom work to repair another broken piece on this 30+ year old door. Initially I had asked a different door company to come out, boy was that a mistake. That other company was miserable and I did not allow them to do the work. Grand Openings was the exact opposite. I'm one of those DIYers that is usually not pleased by other's work as I usually feel that I can do it better. Not with this...too dangerous. And I am 100% pleased with the work, the service, the quality, everything. Grand openings will be the only company I ever use for anything garage door related. I don't recall the exact date they fixed my door but it was about a month an a half ago so lets say the beginning of Oct 2012. I have had absolutely no problems since the work was completed. It is so nice to have a working door again.
