RW was called for a Pressure Gas test quote and I was quoted $450 plus any extra person to do the job ($140. per hr) and a Gas Hot water tank install ($140). I was told that all permits were included. I agree with the quote. James (RW tech.) came over to do the job and had to reschedule he told me he had to get some help. The only gas item in the house was the new gas hot water tank that needed to be installed. There is no gas stove in the house. The job was scheduled for 10/29/20 and James and his helper did the pressure test and installed the gas hot water tank. It took them 3 and a half hours to complete the tank & pressure test. James had to get some extra PVC, traps, and other parts ($275) for the Gas hot water tank. My total charge was $1,240.00( Visa). When the Code enforcer came to approve the work I was told that there weren't any permits filed I was asked who did the work and I show him my RW contract. Code enforcers ask me to call because they want to speak to them about the permits. I call RW and was informing them about the needed permits and I was told that they have been pulled them. I ask RW to speak to the Code enforcer here at the house and all of a sudden RW hung up. I call RW back several times but RW didn't answer my call. I ask the Code enforcer to recheck for those permits prior to leaving and he confirm that there no permits had been pulled. As time passed while working on my remodel house, RW was still trying to dodge responsibilities. I call RW for months for those permits and now I was told that another pressure test had to be done and I had to pay again. I ask to speak to James' manager or the owner to complain about these charges and the unfile permits. The owner was always too busy and could not take the call. For months back and forth with RW, I was told that I would still have to pay for another test to get a permit. I explain to the owner that no permit was pulled and I was told by the Code enforcer that if they pulled a permit it only had to be amended. Therefore they told me they will handle it. As time passed once again I was misled by RW. While thinking that the permit was in I notice the end of the nipple of the gas hot water tank and the connection for the stove wasn't correct. On 1/20/21 I had to pay ($177.45 ck # 1164) for the nipple to be put in correctly which RW (James tech.) did as well. At this point, I asked RW, not to send James back to my house. Everything he had done was wrong and no permits had been filed up to this date. I had to repay for everything RW tech. had done (Gas pressure test, gas nipple which wasn't on correctly, unfiled permits, additional install (PVC)) plus cleaning up the mess that James was called off the job to do another job. The only thing I want RW to do is to either get a permit for the gas hot water tank they installed or get an amendment to the original order. There is NO PHYSICAL WORK NEEDED at this point. The tank has already passed Code inspection, just needs the permit enter on the computer. But RW is stating that they didn't put the gas hot water tank in, therefore if they didn't install this new gas hot water tank why was I charged $1240.43? Please note that there was nothing else in the house that was running on gas but the new gas hot water tank. In addition to other purchases for extra parts, why was I charged? I know it didn't take 3 and a half hours to complete a pressure gas test with no appliance. Why was PVC purchased by James (tech) for a gas pressure test?

RW Heating, Air, Plumbing, and, Electrical, Inc, does'nt agree. Our Technician, James did come out on 10/29/2020. A pressure test and also cut out the cast iron to replace it with PVC scheduled 40. The total of the invoice is $1277.64. You signed off on the invoice. I have the invoice before me. A HOT WATER HEATER WAS NEVER INSTALLED BY RW HEATING AND AIR. YOU ARE WANTING MY COMPANY TO GO BEHIND SOMEONE ELSE WORK AND PULL A PERMIT. RW Heating, Air, Plumbing, and, Electrical, Inc, do not do that. We only GUARANTEE/PULL PERMITS FOR OUR WORK ONLY. You also had [Member Name Removed]PLUMBING SERVICE INC OUT ON JUNE 13, 2022. [Member Name Removed]plumbing service pulled (3) gas pressure tests. Why didn't they pull the permits you needed? Obviously, there is something going on behind the scenes. You need to get with the company that installed your Hot Water Heater, to pull the permit for you. That's the correct way of taking care of your issues not to blame it on another company because they will not do something that our Insurance would not cover. RW will not pull a permit on something we did not install is the bottom line. Thank you for doing business with, RW Heating, Air, Plumbing, and, Electrical, Inc.

Early this summer, my antiquated a/c gave up the ghost. Before calling R/W, I spoke with a couple other companies which seemed to range from outrageously expensive to borderline shady. R/W arrived quickly to evaluate the corpse and ductwork and three days later I had a fully functional system brand new and modern. At one point, the supervisor came down and stated the the return duct didn't need to be replaced and he was reducing the price by $500.00. For the remainder of the summer my wife compared our monthly utility bills with those of last year. In spite of rising costs and record temperatures, our cooling cost went down. Now these folks may not be the cheapest in town ( I'd be nervous if they were) , but each one of the crew seemed to be fixated on doing the job quickly and doing it as perfectly as possible. One even came back after the job was finished to replace the plastic valve covers (?) that came with the compressor with brass ones. You could do worse than hiring these people, but, based on MY experience, you couldn't do much better.

Don't waste your time and money on these people. The plumber walked up to my house smoking. Did not have the correct equipment to clear the clog. Charged almost $500. They would not leave until I wrote them a check. They don't take cards. They immediately went to the bank to cash the check. They did nothing. I called another PROFESSIONAL plumber. Upchurch Services. They cleared the clog because they brought the correct equipment. The technicians were very professional at Upchurch.

[Member Name Removed] RW Heating & Air, Plumbing & Electrical, Inc., did reach out to you the day of service to make it right. My technician fixed the vent for your kitchen piping. Also, changed out Delta Cartridge for your upstairs shower. That's what you were charged for. My company also gave you a thirty-day warranty on the work that was performed. We never knew there was still an existing issue. Our company does accept credit cards however, there is a convenience fee. RW Heating & Air, Plumbing, & Electrical, Inc., makes only one bank deposit per day. Your check was deposited the next business day. RW came on short notice, diagnosed the issues quickly, demonstrated resourcefulness in obtaining a part of which there was only one left in Memphis at the time. We were delighted with the work and with their bedside manner. I'd hire them again in a second! And we couldn't recommend them more highly. On top of all that they seem to care about being good people.

My personal problem is the service charge per visit. I told them what was going on with my shower/tub, I assumed he had an ideal and would know the price up front. But service charge to check it out, understandable. Another service charge to fix it, hourly. Did not deduct the first service charge since I chose them to fix it. (Now I know) He did good work but I think it was a little expensive for what was done. My opinion only!

I was informed when the technicians were on the way and they arrived prior to the 8:30 am start time. They finished up the work in less than two hours and left all in a clean and orderly fashion. Both technicians, Todd and Darrell, were professional, polite, knowledgeable and answered all questions I had. Two days prior to coming on site their supervisor gave me a price over the phone for the work I needed, based upon a series of questions. Based on this price I hired RW as I had also priced the job with a competitor, who gave an estimate that was over twice what I had paid to RW after coming onsite to view where the work was to be done.

They came and worked on the leak the same day I called. The next day, a Saturday, the unit began to leak again. I figured it would be a few days before they would come back since it was the weekend. They came out that day and fixed the leak no charge and it hasn't leaked since. They stood behind their work no questions asked. They are trustworthy and reliable. I would definitely hire them again.

On RW’s initial visit our issue was reviewed and corrective options were presented with the cost for each. We agreed on a work solution and for the work to take place the next business day. The work was completed as planned in less time and was less expensive than planned. We are very pleased with RW’s implemented solution. The crew was engaging, friendly as well as professional. The office contact was a pleasure to work with also. We have already contracted for future work by RW.

Estimate for all work was $4,500 and included $800 for "a lift," presumably to access the tennis court lights for repair. The estimate specifically stated that $480 of the estimate was to move washer/dryer plumbing. $4,000 seemed very high for the rest of the work, especially the $800 for a lift, however we wanted the court lights fixed, so we agreed. Unfortunately they didn't fix the court lights and stated that it would cost me an additional $2,500. I said no way, asked them to EITHER fix the lights OR refund some of my money. They wouldn't so I took them to court to recover some of the money paid. Their contention in court was that I paid $800 for a lift so they could get a closer look at the lights for the sole purpose of giving me an ESTIMATE. The judge agreed with me that the cost seemed excessive and was puzzled that they didn't have their own equipment (the lift), but the judgment went in their favor since the estimate did not expressly state that the court lights were to be fixed. However, the estimate didn't overtly state ANY of the other work to be done... My contention was that any reasonable man would realize that $800 paid for a lift would be to actually do the WORK, mot simply formulate an estimate. I was furious, but had to accept the judge's ruling. (On a side note, I am "not from around here," they had a local attorney very familiar with the justice court, and RW is an established local business) I had to buy a new ceiling fan ($240) and they used a part from that to fix the fan I had. I provided pictures of the cable box move and dryer vent (the open hole in the drywall was the first attempt... they do NOT repair drywall) work for you to decide on the work as well as how the court light access panels were left. They also changed a light bulb in a bathroom. If you call them for work, get a DETAILED estimate itemizing EXACT costs item by item, labor, parts down to the minute and receptacle box, feet of wire, time line etc... the extremely vague nature of the estimate hung me in court. It ended up being my word against theirs. Funny, I thought justice court existed to apply reasonable man theory, but in this case the easy way out was to just say there was no promise in the estimate, albeit exceedingly high.

After they arrived and began work I was told that they were not going to install the heat strips. They got the salesman on the phone, and I asked how much of the quoted price he had included for the heat strips. He said "About $20." I was guessing at least $500 to $800, but have since been given an estimate from another company for $1,200 to do the wiring, duct work, install the appliance containing heat strips, and provide the controls to make it work. I was charged somewhere between $1,000 and $1,200 more for the equipment they installed and the work they performed than it was worth. I consider the company to be dishonest as well as incompetent. Except for this "bait and switch" tactic, I would never have allowed them to do the work for the price they charged. After observing their work, I would not consider using this company at any price. My observations of their work follow: The technician connected one line of his gauge set to the disabled unit and laid the other line out on the ground. I asked him if he wasn't going to recover the Freon (R-22) from the disabled unit and he said "The machine is on another vehicle." (NOTE: It is a Federal crime punishable by time in Federal Prison and/or a very substantial fine to intentionally release R-22 into the atmosphere.) After the technician had brazed most of the connections, I noticed that he was about to put a well-cleaned tubing end into an old dull fitting, a 45 degree elbow, and asked him if he wasn't going to clean the inside of the fitting. He didn't answer, but immediately cleaned only the end or edge of the fitting, not cleaning the inside at all. He apparently didn't know that molten metal is supposed to fill the entire capillary space within the joint and must have bright clean copper to adhere to both surfaces in order to make a strong joint that will withstand vibration and heating and cooling stresses for several years. All of his connections are suspect for possible future leaks. He should also have known, if he had been properly trained or had simply read the installation instructions that came with each unit, that air inside the tubing during brazing is supposed to be displaced by a low rate flow of dry nitrogen to prevent oxidation of the inside of the tubing during brazing. He skipped that step, too. I will concede that the technician was very careful while performing the brazing connections; I believe he had never been taught how to do it properly and didn't understand what he was trying to do.

After considering if the "pros" could be wrong about the units needing replacement, I decided to move forward. RW Heating & Air arrived on the day and time they promised, with sufficient personnel to get the job done. In addition to the replacement work, they installed an additional cold air return, as they said one unit had been "starved" for air. At their recommendation, I also installed a unit on my main power drop that stores energy in a capacitor system allowing for less power drainage when any electrical units in the house are started. While this added several hundred dollars to the installation, it still kept it around $14,000. Rather than construction grade HVAC units, I now have larger tonnage, high efficiency units, that are also a higher grade of manufacturing. The results speak for themselves. My average monthly bill has now dropped to about $130/month, spread across the last 12 months. That's a savings of $180/month! I've had several months where the bill was less than $100, something I never had before the work was done. The only concern I had was balancing the system for my downstairs bedrooms, which they reviewed with me, however they didn't provide any real answers on how to ensure those rooms would remain as comfortable as the rest of the house. However, given the results otherwise, I still give them an A in all categories.
Description of Work
This review is for work performed in February 2016. I had skyrocketing electric bills. In Feb and March of 2015 they were $700 and $500 respectively. The average monthly cost spread over a year was $310/month. An energy audit provided options which were technically incorrect, so I started looking at other options. My HVAC units were 20 years old and original to the home. I contacted a highly advertised company in the area to inspect and provide an estimate on whether the units needed replaced. The answer was yes, and I was provided an estimate to replace both outside units and the two air handlers of $26,000. At the advice of a friend, I contacted RW Heating & Air. They agreed the units needed replaced, however their estimate was for between $18,000 and $19,000, however they also would include a $5000 bonus, bringing the price in at just over $13,000--literally 1/2 of the other quote received.

It went good. The guy showed up on time. It was weird because it was raining that day and we have an outside circuit box and it turned out that we just needed to flip the breaker over to make it work. He went ahead and didn't charge us for the service call for that part. We had other parts replaced that really weren't working well. It had a switchplate that was loose and he fastened that. They improved some lighting in the attic. Everything that we asked him to do, he did. He didn't have to come back for anything.

We have a warrantee through AHS and they sent RW to repair our A/C system, which was failing. The originally reported problem was an overflow into the pan below one of our condenser units in the attic. RW came and diagnosed a failed compressor and a failed blower but they never bothered to see if there was a clog in the primary drain line. They did use bathroom towels from our guest bathroom to soak up the water that was in the pans, infuriating my wife. After waiting for a week in the hottest Summer temps of the year, RW came back and installed a new compressor outside and a new blower motor inside the condenser. In the meantime, the overflowed water caused a large stain in the ceiling of an upstairs bedroom....RW told us that they were not responsible for this problem, which, in my opinion, was caused by their lack of attention to a clogged primary drain system. We called numerous times to get AHS to send RW back and fix the overflow problem. They finally were assigned to unclog the primary drain and when their technician did so, he temporarily clogged up our sink drains to use a pressurized system to blow out the drain. One of the stopped up sinks was not properly or sufficiently stopped up and the resulting explosion of debris covered every square inch of the bathroom walls, sink, ceiling, and shower curtain, with black, dirty muck. The technician, horrified by his lack of attention to this detail of properly stopping up the sink, did the best job he could to clean the mess. He offered to come back and paint it. He also made a comment about it in the work order, thank goodness.... When the owner of RW was asked to come back and paint the ceiling, which was covered in debris, he refused to do so, claiming the damage was a by product of his work and not his responsibility. We submitted a formal complaint to AHS and FINALLY, RW sent someone to paint our bathroom ceiling. What a debacle. I would never use this contractor again. NEVER !!!!
