Larry was fast and efficient and the floors look beautiful. After the floors were sanded there were a lot of screw heads that became more visible in the hallway, that he explained would require replace the actual wood to get rid of. The service provided by Larry from Allan Flooring was absolutely spectacular. The floor went from looking old, ratty, and stained to looking gleaming-beautiful. Larry is reliable, friendly, hardworking, easy to reach, and very resourceful. He worked for us once previously several years back, then did this job, and now we are hiring him again, for the third time, for another big job.

After an initially good experience with Allan Flooring, our opinion has rapidly deteriorated. Through the proposal phase and for a portion of the job, we found the business relationship to be good. We selected Allen Flooring over cheaper bids based on our initial impressions. However unacceptable issues arose. Specifically, the work was delayed and the owner (Lee) expressed concerns about the amount of work, being tired and about juggling jobs. He made comments about needing money, and wanted another payment on the same day we returned to town ? which we granted even though that was not supposed to be the case. Thereafter, he even let himself into our garage on a Sunday morning unannounced to get his final payment. That unsettled our family. Next, though our final payment was in cash, he did not provide a receipt after several requests, instead wanting to talk about ?more charges?. We said we would not consider any additional conversation without a proper receipt. Finally, he did give written proof of the payment - but weeks later on a completely new invoice with thousands of dollars of new charges. He has increased these new amounts multiple times post completion to nearly double the original agreement, and most recently said ?I hope I don?t have to take this further.? In fairness, we do believe he ran into issues finishing the job ? it sounds like as a one person show, he got in over his head. However, he did the measurements and the bid, and more importantly we cannot excuse the approach he has taken. Proceed with caution, especially if you are a larger job.

It turns out he was on vacation for two weeks, I have decided to use someone else in the meantime. I recommend some type of messaging system that alerts customers when you are on vacation.

There is only one person doing everything. So, it took 3 days to sand down my kitchen and the connected hall way, 1/2 bath room. The total square footage is 300-400. He also removed the toilet and the big refrigerator with some extra charge. He covered the counters/ cabinates and blocked the connection to other rooms with the plastic films, so the dust will not spread. The cleaning afterwards was relatively easy, because of it. Coating finish was done twice and need to dry overnight. The smell was pretty strong and we did open windows for sometime. He works very hard and the result is great!

Larry did all the work. He is a true professional. Timely, courteous, neat, floors are beautiful. I am so proud of them now and frankly, I did not expect them to turn out as beautiful as they did. They had been neglected for at least twenty years that I know of. I would absolutely have Allen Flooring do any future work on my flooring. It is a wonderful experience when a contractor tells you what he will and can do and actually keeps his part of the bargain. Thank you Allen Flooring.

The service went well. I paid an additional fee to have them cover more flooring. Two technicians came out and completed the job in 2-3 days. They covered about 2,000 sq. ft. The staff was responsive and did not try to up sell me. They were happy to point out the issues on the old floor and allowed me to make my own decision. They were very flexible with my schedule.

Another excellent experience, the floors look great! He even took out existing carpet for an additional charge which saved a lot of labor for us.

Met with Larry to discuss job. He was doing it while I was out of town. He said they would move the refrigerator and I emptied most of the food that I could. On my return, the floors looked very nice. However, he had tied my kitchen chandelier up high, and had left blue tape on the ceiling between family room and kitchen. I have a bad back and had to wait for someone to get this down for me. He called me the next day and started off by telling me they did not expect to walk into a kitchen full of furniture, and it took his. workers a day to move it. No one said I had to move the furniture out, which I could not have done. There is a table with 5 chairs, a small cabinet, no glasses in it, only about 4 foot tall, and one small cabinet with little drawers. I moved a plant, trash can, and everything on top of these two small cabinets. He charged me an extra $100 for furniture removal. Then he wanted his money, but would not come to my house. He kept asking me to meet him somewhere. I kept suggesting places, and he kept saying they were too far. I finally met him at the Schnuck's at Harvester, and I got my key. I think the final bill was about $600 too much, but when I protested he said I probably owed him more. I just wanted to get out of there. I need to reexamine my bill. I do not think I should have been charged for furniture moving. Also, there are now strap marks on the bottom of my refrigerator that I can't get off. I would never use this company again, and I think I need a mediator on this.

We received bids from 4-5 companies. This was a large job approximately 2200 square feet of oak and pine. Allens was similar in price to one other company that we had previously chosen, but could not use because of scheduling issues. We found him after we could not go with the other company. Both were substantially less than the other bids. We found found Allen through Angie's list and were impressed with the reviews he received especially on large jobs like ours. Larry was very easy to work with and very accommodating. Larry discovered that the floor in our kitchen was oak beneath 2 layers of tiles. It was almost unrecognizable but amazingly he could tell by the grain that it was the same oak as the rest of downstairs. We removed the tiles and Larry sanded and finished them (see pictures for the amazing results -it's hard to believe this is the same floor). Larry was very knowledgeable and straightforward about his recommendations and in the end we were very happy we listened to him and went his suggestions. In the family room the floor was the original pine from 1895 and was stained a dark color. We initially wanted to restain it a dark color, but he encouraged us to leave its natural color. The floor turned out to be so beautiful and we are glad that we listened to his recommendation. During the process he accidentally backed up into one of our windows and broke. He immediately informed me of this and replaced it that same day. Larry knows his business and the floors turned out beautifully!

Larry came to the house and looked at the hardwood floor. He stated that due to the type of floor and its condition, he would have to completely refinish the floor and could not perform the service the coupon was good for. He provided a good, detailed bid but I cannot use the coupon for the service it was good for. Overall a good experience, just could not use the coupon.

Larry from Allan flooring came by to review the floors for buffing. He noticed that the floors had wax residual and recommended that buffing would not work and would need to get them sanded. He was prompt on the phone calls and helped make an informed decision.

Allan Flooring was prompt in contacting me and coming to my home. However, they were unable to refinish the floor.

He had to pull the toilet and vanity out but he got it done pretty quickly. He is very flexible working with us. He worked very late, very early and came in on the weekends. He also worked well with the other contractors working in our home at the time. Even though he was quick, the quality of the work did not suffer. Everything looks outstanding.

Scheduling was fine. He did what he said he was going to do and we got a bid for some additional work.
