We needed to replace our 21 year old carpeting. We got two bids and Michaels Flooring Outlet was $1400 cheaper. They were very nice at the store, with no pressure.
They came to measure very quickly and was able to install it faster than expected and were willing to work around our schedule. They did everything they promised, including moving heavy furniture. The crew did a great job and we love our new carpet.
"We at Michael's Flooring are very sorry for the experience this customer had with us. We hope that we do not put anyone else through an experience such as this. At Michael's Flooring we have tried very hard to make it a great experience for all of our clients. We change small aspects of our business each day to do a better job in all areas. Again we are very sorry. We take this type of thing very seriously here at Michael's Flooring."
The estimator came out and refused to even give me a bid on one room I wanted to have floored because he said it would be "too hard" to install around the furnace. That was disappointing, but I figured I could just get that room done by someone else.
The flooring arrived and they sent out the installers ... I hardly know where to begin here.
They were nice enough, but they didn't seem to know what they were doing. I had to call them back 3 times for various serious problems -- trim popping off within 4 hours of them leaving (twice), water flooding my kitchen where they shut off the ice maker improperly. I also still have a hole in my kitchen wall that they put there while removing the trim to replace the flooring and chipped tile around the fireplace for the same reason -- when I called the store, they told me that these things were probably already damaged before their installers arrived. THEY MOST DEFINITELY WERE NOT!
The installation job is a really hack job -- there are tiny pieces shoved in crevices near doorways/walls that are popping out, one of the tiles has a gouge in it (that was either a defective tile or put there by the installers), the tiles that are in one of the room have a directional design which was disregarded by the installers, etc.
Each time that I tried to call the store to talk to a manager, I was told to handle it with the installers. The store wasn't the least bit interested in resolving the issues I had with the installation -- once they had their money, they were done!
I now need flooring for the main living/dining room of my house and I most definitely will not be using Michaels!
On a side note, when my tile installation was completed, the Michael's installer handed me a satisfaction survey to fill out. Not a good way to get an honest appraisal of work performed when the installer is standing right there watching over your shoulder. I gave him an excellent review because my review was given under duress.
I was under a very tight deadline to get new
carpet installed in the house I was selling. The people at Micheals worked with me to not only give me the best price on the carpet, but also were able to work within my time constraints. They even came out on a Saturday to install the carpet so that I would be able to start showing the house on Monday. The whole experience was great and I would definitely recommend Micheals Flooring Outlet to all my friends and family.Vinyl was laid 9/14: They moved refrigerator and propped up front of range to lay vinyl under these areas. Thus no seams. Removed old vinyl and removed and replaced baseboards. The toe-kick was left in place and installer did not do the best of job in protecting that area as old vinyl was removed. Attempted to abate squeak in kitchen, but not able to completely remove. Prepped and installed new vinyl. Hauled away old vinyl. I chose a ceramic tile look and the Vinyl looked so much better and cost less. This was done by contractor Tim Riggs Flooring LLC.
Carpet was laid 9/17: They moved heavy sectional living room furniture and dining room set to lay carpet and new pad. Ripped up old carpeting and pad. Started to sweep up with a broom (but was raising too much dust) and then switched to vacuuming up the area per my request. Hauled away old stuff. Then put down new pad and carpeting. Was able to get rid of squeak in hallway. Did a great job around the spindles on the stairs, and also making sure no tacks were too high on the stair back portion, to cause dogs to cut their feet going up and down stairs. Vacuumed the areas again.
Also did some carpet stretching and tacking down in my Family room by patio door. Contractor Mike Hendrik Flooring did the pad and carpet install.
Overall was pleased with the job Michaels Flooring (the St Peters, Main Street store) did and how nice everything looked when finished. Everything was put back in place and the house looked very new with these improvements. Loved the feel of the 8lb moisture barrier pad under the carpet. Very cushioned and great protection against pet accidents. So far none that has occured!
Michaels works with Wells Fargo to offer no interest financing, if paid off within a certain period of time.
Thank you Michaels for helping me thru this renovation with the least problems.
