Interior & exterior painting, drywall and plaster repair, deck maintenance, wallpaper removal, cabinet painting, and wallpaper installation.
Everything was real good. They were prompt, they cleaned up well, and we were happy with the job that they did. We chose them because their bid was sort of in the middle and I liked the thoroughness with which they paid attention to detail on some of the repairs and wood work.

Excellent work. I had a medalion around one of the fixtures in our house that i began to remove and quickly realized it wasn't cheap plastic like the kind you buy at HD, but was plaster. I removed the whole thing and tried to patch myself with plaster. Bad idea. 6 weeks later, i called Kennedy. They removed the work i had done and plastered over the area. Plaster work is a real skill and Richie had impressive skills...I was really impressed with the work. As an aside, my 2.5 year old daughter is pretty scared of men in general, and had some weird fascination and adoration for Richie. She talked about Richie for two weeks after the project was completed. Being in a service industry myself, i'm fairly critical of minor details- aside from the actual quality of work. I felt kennedy went above and beyond at virtually each step of the process. If anything, they're scheduling is too detailed and takes some time to coordinate, though you know they'll be there when they say they will. I did not really price them out due to reviews on AL, but felt it was reasonable...not cheap, not expensive. Excellent work all around and will certainly use them again as needed.

The owner himself gave me the estimate, he also checked in occaionally, was very professional . The weather was the big problem...too hot! Because I had taken the week off so I could be there, they came when they promised and only took one extra day to finish. I would recommend Kennedy Painting to all !
Description of Work: They painted the total outside of my two story house three coats because of the heat , the paint dried too fast so they did a third coat for no extra charge. They also painted a covered porch and floor and railings in front and back, also soffit. All workers were hard workers and polite.

They were outstanding. Firstly they were prompt. When I called for the estimate I had somebody here within 2 days. They scheduled the work 5 days later. On both days they said they will be here by 7 am and they were here by 7 am. They were polite and they were professional. They just did a fabulous job. I think their price was very fair because I got 2 estimates and theirs was the lowest.
Description of Work: I used Kennedy Painting LLC. They patched the drywall in 4 places because it had been cut through to do electrical wiring. They painted my kitchen and the ceiling in the family room. They also painted 3 walls in my landing going upstairs.

Of the three we got, they were in the middle. They were very professional in their presentation. They sold us and they did an excellent job. The painters come in and they were very professional, did an excellent job. I will definitely use them in the future. They cleaned up after. The quality of the work was good. They did an excellent job, came in and moved furniture, covered it, went back and touched up. There was a couple of a little drops that happens when you paint, it's no big deal but they were very meticulous and touched-up and stuff.

I looked on Angie's List for interior painting. Saw that Kennedy Painting had a very good reputation. So,I called. Amy Akers came out to see my house and give me a rough estimate on price. She sent me an estimate. She told me i could get a 10% discount if I scheduled in January. So,I did. Amy came back and we looked at colors. She suggested several and sent large color samples for me to choose. I rescheduled several times. The office manager,Marisa, was so wonderful, helpful, and pleasant. We finally setttled on the last two weeks in January. Ric Reed "walked through" on the 21st of January to check on the space and what he'd need. He was very polite and helpful. Everyone answered all of the questions I had The work formally began on the 22nd of January. A man named Bob Horn came and started the job by himself. He worked very hard all day and was pleasant to talk with. Then Ric,the crew leader, came the next days with a young man named Gary. These three men worked SO hard for the next two weeks. They took 20 minutes or less for lunch. Three of the rooms have wall paper, but they did ceilings, doors, and windows. The bedrooms (2) had peeling ceilings. Now they look beautiful! I changed the color in the small bathroom after they had started painting other parts of the house. No problem. Amy had advised me to paint all of the livingroom woodwork white including the mantle. It looks fabulous! i almost changed the livingroom color, but I'm glad I didn't. It is my favorite room! I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with the work that these three men did! I sent a note (not an email) to Sean Kennedy, the president of the company, sharing my pleasure and happiness with the work done Over all,it was a great experience with polite and talented men who tried very hard to please.

I found Kennedy Painting on Angie's List with an A rating and great reviews. They lived up to this reputation. The day I called for a free estimate, Amy was at my house taking measurements and notes about the damage. Within 24 hours an estimate was sent by email. I also inquired about an area in the basement where drywall needed to be cut out around the furnace vents. Amy was not familiar with this type of work, but told me someone would be able to address this concern before the project was accepted. After getting other estimates, I decided to go with Kennedy Painting. I called Amy, and differences were discussed and addressed immediately. I was very happy with this response. Every time I called or emailed, I was contacted within 24 hours or less. Most calls were answered or returned immediately. My job was scheduled within the time frame I was quoted the day of the estimate (actually earlier than expected, which worked perfectly for me). When the painter arrived, I was a bit concerned that no one came to discuss the basement drywall situation before I accepted the job. Bob Horn, the painter, addressed that area first, and called another worker in to take a look, since it was an area that would have to be completed to a builders code for the furnace area. I was very pleased that they let me know it was a project that was not able to be completed by their company. I much prefer it be completed to code the first time, and not have to do something else at a later time. I really appreciated their honesty. That part of the project was removed from the estimate. Bob, the painter, was very prompt (early to arrive, but waited until the scheduled time to enter the home). He was extremely courteous, and explained his plan of action before he began, always asking if it was okay with me before he started working in any area. Each room was completely covered with plastic and tarps to protect the walls, floors and furniture (it was all ceiling work). I am somewhat of a perfectionist, and Bob's work met my seal of approval. Before leaving any room, he always checked to make sure I was happy with the completed project. The family room area had two places which needed to be repaired before he painted it. This was done the first day and left to dry. The family room connected to the kitchen, and it became obvious this was not going to be completed the first day. His plan of action was changed to make our family room accessible for us over the weekend. Everything was completely cleaned up before he left on Friday evening. Monday he returned, once again, very prompt and courteous. He completed the job, even a very difficult atrium area, in a very timely fashion. Once again his work was done to perfection. The area was once again left clean as a whistle. I can definitely recommend Bob as the painter, and Kennedy Painting as a company that was true to their word and reputation. I would recommend this company to my family and friends.

After review of the bid, we decided to go with Sean and his crew again. We could not have been more pleased with the work done. We had some additional work that was needed on the sunroom, above and beyond the original estimate of $1,900, Sean was very fair in negotiating the additional cost for the work needed. Everyone that came out on the various projects was timely, professional, friendly, and did a great job of cleaning up the various work areas. We were very happy with the end result of all of our projects, and the crew chiefs and staff ensured that we were pleased with the work before considering the job complete. We would like to personally thank all the folks at Kennedy Painting that assisted us with the work: Sean, Jeremy, Toni, Tim, Steve, Ryan, Scott, and Marissa. We would like to especially thank Mitch and Criag who we had the most one on one contact with related to our jobs. They really went the extra mile to ensure we were happy!! We would definitely use Kennedy Painting again. Keep up the great work!
Description of Work: We have used Kennedy Painting in the past for some exterior work, and requested an estimate from them again for several projects that we were looking to have completed both exterior and interior. Sean came out within days and provided a free estimate response very quickly for the work requested. We requested an estimate for the following: Strip and stain large outdoor cedar pergola, sand and paint front porch railing, sand and paint front door, sand and poly indoor sunroom, sand and paint interior back door, paint pocket door, and tape and paint sunroom ceiling. Worked completed spanned over a period of a few weeks due to nature of the jobs and our availability.

We called them for an estimate and they were very prompt and professional. Their price was a little high compared to the person we actually used. If I wanted a design consultation, I would call them again because I think they would do a good job with that. The person we used was a painter and although we were happy with his services, he's not as good as I think Kennedy would be if we had been unsure about that we wanted.

Long story short: we waited from June until September to have four rooms in our tenants' homes painted then Kennedy Painting said they were going to push the date back up to two weeks. We told them that that was unacceptable so they scheduled a date for the promised week. They sent one person instead of a team of painters to do the job. It took three days instead of two. This was a big inconvenience to our home bound tenant who is suffering with a terminal disease. Our tenants told us that the painter used one coat instead of two as detailed in our contract. When we notified Kennedy Painting, they sent him back and he promised to re-paint a room as the plaster work was clearly showing through. Also, we should have looked more closely at our contract. It was very detailed and I didn't notice that it didn't list the butler's pantry. The painter painted everything in the kitchen- the ceiling, walls, doors, casings, but left the butler's pantry which is side by side with the fresh paint. It would have been good customer service to simply go ahead and paint it. Now I will have to prep and paint myself. We used Kennedy Painting in our own home several years ago and were pleased. They did not have the lowest price estimate but we were willing to pay more because they have been reliable and done a good job years ago. We thought they were worth waiting nearly 3 months for but they are not the company they once were. We receive a lot of promotional material through the mail and internet so I thought they had grown their business. Judging by the length of time to be scheduled, need to argue about being pushed back two weeks, and then having not a team but a single painter sent for a nearly $2000 job, Kennedy Painting's services have suffered. We will not use them again. UPDATE: The owner, Sean Kennedy, called us after reading our report and apologized and wanted to know what he could do to make things right. We were impressed with his willingness to listen, explain where he believed communication broke down, and his follow through on our requests. Sean wanted us to know that we, and all customers, should call him personally with any concerns and they would be handled fairly. He promised to make a few changes to ensure better customer service in the future. And Sean sent someone to calk and paint the butler pantry despite the fact that it was not in the contract. I want to add that our tenants liked Eric, our painter, and said he was always courteous and professional. I met him on two occasions and had the same impression. We appreciate the customer service and would work with Kennedy Painting again knowing that Sean is a phone call away if he is needed.

Sean came for the original assessment and promptly gave an estimate detailing what would be included. He was very knowledgeable and answered our questions and concerns perfectly. We had talked with others and had not been satisified. We contacted them in late summer, and the painting was done in early November. Fortunately the weather cooperated. A 3-person team did the work quickly followed by a carpenter to make repairs. We are extremely satisfied. We will contact them earlier in the year next time as they are very busy.
Description of Work: Kennedy's scraped, sanded, repaired and painted decorative wood trim on the exterior of our 150yr old home. Painting was overdue and some of the wood was damaged. They did an excellent job without interrupting our normal schedule and did it exactly as we asked.

Sean came out himself and gave us a detailed estimate, discussing the range of possible work from making it look better by putting a fresh coat of paint over all those old layers, to scraping off the superficial paint and making it look much better, to scraping plus stripping to remove as much of the underlying paint as reasonably possible. We chose the most extensive job because we have a long-term perspective on this great old house. Ric was the crew leader and he and his team were wonderful. They communicated with us at each step and were always courteous. In some cases they had to work inside the house to get at certain surfaces (or to remove storm windows that hadn't been removed in many years) and were respectful and polite. The job was completely professional and best of all, the house looks fantastic. We get comments every day from people, some of whom we don't know, about how great our house looks. We will definitely call them again when we are ready to start on the interior, which comes next.
Description of Work: Our house is 112 years old and long overdue for an exterior paint job, and had many old layers of paint. In some areas the underlying wood was damaged. The job was to scrape, strip, and paint the entire exterior, including extensive trim, replacing wood as needed. This included taking off our storm windows, cleaning and reattaching them.

I did not have a pleasant experience with them. A girl named Amy came out to give me a bid. The quote that I got from her was lower than the quote I got from another company but it was more in my range. I think with the various things that I needed done inside and outside, it was probably more of what I expected. She emailed me the quote; I had asked for a breakdown of each project so that I could see the labor for each project and that I could budget it out. I decided to go with them but there was a time restraint. I needed everything done before the end of October because of the weather. I think I gave them a date of October 26th and asked them to get things done at least the inside work before that date. She said they could do that and then I was handed off to another person named Marisa. After I accepted that they were going to do it, Marisa called. I didn’t put any money down or anything. Amy had indicated they can use rain days to start on projects inside. They said they would call me with rain dates and that I would be put on the schedule and everything would be done by October 25th. I got a couple of messages from Marisa kind of late in the day like 5:30 or 6:00 which I came home to the messages; she didn’t speak to me directly saying that tomorrow was going to be a rain day and that if they could come to do the work tomorrow and things like that. There are things I need to move and stuff like that and this happened once and then it happened again where I was home and got the call. I told them that I had appointment all day the next day and that I was not going to be home. I asked her to tell me where I was on the schedule, and she said that I wasn’t on the schedule at all. I told her that that was not what Amy had indicated. She had indicated that she would be able to get the inside work done by October 26th. So I sent Amy a text saying that I was really upset and felt deceived because she had said she had scheduled it and would use rain days as a backup kind of thing and that Marisa had said that I was nowhere on the schedule. She wrote back and said that at their staff meeting there might have been some miscommunication; I don’t think that that was the case, so I told them I would not use them and that they had lost the job. I don’t know if it wasn’t a big enough job for them. I don’t know how they thought that they could possibly get the job done just on rainy days. At first her responsiveness was fine. At the beginning there were errors in the bidding and there were things that I didn’t understand, and she was very prompt in getting back to me but once I said I would go with her, she just didn’t care, so she handed me over to somebody else. She was punctual; she came when she said she would. She was professional when she thought she was getting the job; it was mainly based on getting the job.

Response from Kennedy Painting
We are sorry for the misunderstanding in the scheduling of this project. When we were contracted, the customer was informed that the only way we could perform this project within the timeframe was to schedule it when we could not be on our exterior projects (rain days). This was agreed to on 9/18 and was scheduled with the guarantee that it would be done by 10/26. The week of 9/24 she was contacted and given several days as options, but was unavailable to have us do the work anytime that week. The following week of Oct 1st she was again called but unavailable for us to perform the work and when she asked Marisa (Office Assistant) about the date, she was again informed that her project was not "hard scheduled", but placed on our RainDay List as agreed upon. She decided to withdraw her contract on Oct 5th. Even though we attempted and had opportunities to honor the timeframe given to us, we apologize for any misunderstanding or miscommunications that may have occured on our end.

Overall I was very happy with the end results although there were a couple of hiccups along the way. I received several quotes for work on our deck and Kennedy was the best combination of professionalism and reasonable price. Our customer service rep throughout the process (Amy) did a fantastic job and we couldn't have been happier with her professionalism and level of customer service. She managed the project for us and scheduled it to be done while we were out of town and when the team missed a damaged board that was supposed to be replaced, she got the team back out to replace it. However the two negatives (other than the missed board which was corrected) were: 1. when we negotiated our contract I specifically removed the line about them putting up a sign in front of our house advertising their services (which they agreed was fine to remove) - but when we got back in town after the project was completed they still had put a sign in our front yard like we had specifically told them not to do. 2. The deck stain on the newly replaced boards has already started to fade after just a month or two since they were installed/stained so that they no longer match the existing boards. It still looks good, but I think the new boards will likely need to be re-stained in the near future if they continue to fade at such a fast rate. They did leave the extra stain behind so it'll be easy to fix this, but still not quite what I had hoped for. Overall I was happy with how this project worked out and will use them again in the future, but there was a little room for improvement.
New wood takes stain much differently than an older weathered surface. As wood dries out and ages it will absorb much more stain and the color will be darker than a newly milled board. With less product able to absorb, the color will fade quicker than the surrounding boards. This is why we have a full year warranty on all deck coatings and always offer to return for a no-cost touch up on replaced wood after it has had time to season, if there is premature fading.

The April Hailstorm resulted in a leaking roof and the ceiling had water damage in a number of places. The exterior soffit and facia also had been damaged. Sean Kennedy came over to look over the work required. The estimates were provided timely and although not the lowest, the professionalism with which he explained how he proposed to do the work left me with a comfortable feeling that Kennedy Painting would be right for this work. Craig and Tony were assigned to my work and they did a very professional job. They explained the status of the work every evening before they left and made sure that the whole place was clean. I absolutely recommend Kennedy Painting for all you painting needs.

Positives about Sean Kennedy Painting: 1. The entire staff was very polite, clean cut, and behaved professionally. 2. They can do carpentry work and wood finishing work as well as painting. 3, They do excellent work. 4. Their guys worked very hard in the intense heat of the summer of 2012. 5. They gave us discounts for Angie's List. Negatives: 1. We signed a contract in early April, and I said I wanted the job done by the end of June because my daughters like to have pool parties in July. July was also inconvenient for me because of work related responsibilities. They did not begin till the first week of July. 2. The job went $882.00 over bid. Some was additional siding we decided should be replaced. Some things I feel Sean should have caught and included in the bid (such as the trim on the roof needing to be replaced). 3. A LOT of paint was left over, about two and a half gallons of the trim paint, and closer to three gallons of the siding paint. We had paid extra for a higher quality of Sherwin Williams paint that would last longer, but I did not expect to have that much left over. In the past, we've had about a half gallon left of each color. So somebody over ordered on the paint. That cost us money! 4. They damaged our landscaping. They killed a flowering bush that was not that close to the house. Worst of all, they tore the top third off a lovely Dogwood tree outside our library window. The arborist who came to look at it said he couldn't understand how they did it because it was such a sturdy tree. He actually had trouble pruning off the dead branches. Sean Kennedy was sorry about the damage. He offered to either subtract the amount or pay us in the spring. We said we would wait to see if the tree lives, but it looks weird. It will never be as pretty as it was. If we replace it, it will take years for the new tree to grow as big as this one was. Bottom Line: Even though the work was excellent and they are hard-working and polite people, I would not use this company again. Over all, this experience was more stressful than it should have been, there was property damage , and it cost us more than it should have.
Description of Work: We contracted to have the exterior of our house power washed and painted. There was also some carpentry work to replace warped siding on the bottom in the back and some trim that had rotted. In addition they agreed to do touch up work to our Oak front door and spray paint some decorative wrought iron items.

Response from Kennedy Painting
Thank you for your honest feedback, especially in the scheduling department when an unusually hot spring and summer slowed our crews down significantly. This caused jobs to not be completed as scheduled and back up projects longer than we anticipated. Again I am very sorry about the property damage. We stand to take responsibility and action to make things right. We have spent time re-training all crews the way we promise to protect landscaping on exterior projects. In regard to the additional work and over purchase of paint, the labor & material price for any project is agreed upon upfront before starting. If a crew leader over orders materials it is never charged back to the customer and we always intend to leave some of each color behind for future maintenance or touch ups. Also when quoting rot replacement, sometimes areas are worse than they appear and cannot be seen until we remove the visually exposed rotten areas or start scraping places that look like it is only coating failure (especially when viewing 2nd & 3rd story trim from the ground). In these instances when found, the additional carpentry is again firmly quoted and agreed upon before the work is performed - usually at a rate lower than our original quote since we are there working anyway. Thank you again for your comments we always appreciate to learn on how we can better serve our clients.
