The service was okay. They fixed a toilet that had been running. I called them back, because shortly afterward the toilet started running again. They did charge for that 2nd service. I then called them back a 3rd time and they didn’t charge me for that service. I keep using them because, I know that if there is a problem that they will be able to work with me to fix for me. They plumbers are very professional and clean up well after themselves. I find their prices to be a bit on the high side though.

Very pleased with the plumbing services offered by Tony LaMartina Plumbing Services. We had several different issues which turned out to be fairly minor, but the service person was extremely helpful; professional; and fixed what could be fixed and told us how to fix something on our own which he couldn't do without the proper tools (clean out overflow). We used an Angie's List promotion which was a service call and 1st hr labor for $89. This worked great for us...I realize this promotion is just a lead generator for Tony LaMartina, but it worked as we will certainly call them for our next plumbing issue. Update: After writing the original review and prepaying for the service, I was surprised to receive an invoice from Tony LaMartina for $10.46. They evidently charged us over $10 for a very small amount of clear caulk used to reseal a drain plug. It's obviously a small amount of money, but charging us more than a full-tube price for a minuscule amount of caulk is a bit surprising. FYI...they also charge a 21% APR on unpaid balance after 30 days...doesn't apply to us in this situation, but that's obviously a incredibly high interest rate. So, while I'm very happy with the specific service tech who did the work and still fine with the overall value received, I think this is only due to the coupon. I now wonder what would happen if I had to pay for their services without a coupon. If they're going to charge me 2x what a full tube normally costs when only using 1/10 of a tube, I have to assume I'd see a similar up-charge on much more expensive parts. For $10, they've taken a new customer from very happy and highly likely to use their service in the future to someone who's just satisfied and may or may not use their service in the future... I lowered the overall rating and price from an A to B to reflect the $10.46 invoice for the small amount of clear caulk used...

I thought the service was fine, but in retrospect, the notion of an $89 fee for a one hour plumbing service call seems a little ridiculous. Unless you have a toilet clog you absolutely cannot handle on your own, I'm not sure in what situation this coupon would really be useful.
Description of Work: I thought the plumber was polite and informative, but there is not much that can be done in one hour. In all, he tightened the handles on one sink, took apart one faucet and told me I had to call the manufacturer to order a new part and told me that a third faucet would probably just be easiest to replace altogether.

Description of Work: everything went great with the exception of a follow up bill received in the mail months after the work was done which was a surprise to me. I telephoned thinking that the bill was an error but was told I did owe it and that it was a foul up in their office (something about email and regular mail addresses) It was not a huge difference and I think since over |3 months had gone by it would have been a wise business decision to not |send the bill and keep a customer.

Tony Lamartina Plumbing Co, Inc called me and after a brief interview scheduled an appointment to repair a leaking kitchen sink faucet. I have a Price Pfister and Mr Lamartina asked me to send a picture of the type of faucet by email to order the necessary parts. I sent a picture of the original box it came in/with the necessary unit number, etc. Once he received it,told me we would schedule an appointment when the parts arrived. I have a plumber by the name of Jim, who has repaired my sink and I am very satisfied with his quality of work. I will definitely use this company for future plumbing services. Thanks

I ordered the deal on Angies list but pushed the button twice and later learned my card was charged twice. I called Angie's list and was refunded right away which I appreciate. There was some miscommunication at the office in regards to what I needed completed. I figured that both fixes would come in under the $89. A plumber first came and looked at the job and decided both jobs would require parts and didn't fix anything. Then later another guy came out and fixed the hose but he wasn't told about the drain and I had to schedule a 3rd visit for the plumber to come back again. I complained about the bill the first time because it was a lot higher than I thought it would be. I reminded them I used the $89 deal and they adjusted it so I only owed about $50. I thought that was fair although, I was charged more due to the miscommunication and extra trip. I just received communication that my bill was overdue, so will have to call them again. I thought they were nice but maybe the company has gotten too big or something. They did good work and were friendly and explained everything, just a lot of miscommunication and extra time spent which I don't have a lot of right now. UPDATE: I called the company again and they immediately responded. My payment did not go thru as I tried to pay on their INTUIT program on line so their was no discrepancy in the billing. I totally agree with the payment and Matt was very thorough in his explanation. Once we realized that what I paid did not go thru I paid them with a check and all was fine. I actually adjusted my scores by a few points as Matt explained that they did not charge me for the service calls that were caused by faulty communication. I was pleased with this. At least they realized their mistake and did not charge the customer for it. I think I WILL use them in the future.

I bought an Angie's List big deal for plumbing work. I had used the provider-Tony La Martina Plumbing- before about two years ago for a sewer drain problem. They fixed the problem and I was satisfied with their work. Since we were experiencing the same problem I bought the deal and my husband contacted Tony La Martina Plumbing. They stated that they would not do that particular service-even though they had done for me before- and suggested I ask for a refund from Angie's List. Tony La Martina Plumbing recommended another company that contacted us, came out and completed the work. They charged us $119, and we gave them a check for that amount. Two days later the company that did the work stated they would be mailing us back our check and Tony La Martina would be billing us. We then got a bill from Tony La Martina Plumbing for $140. I guess Tony La Martina is charging us $21 for a phone call they made to the other company. I doubt I will ever use Tony La Martina Plumbing. I have contacted them and requested an explanation for the difference, but have not yet heard back from them---to be fair I only just contacted them by email earlier this same day (Sunday-Dec 9)

As is made clear in the fine print on every $89.00 "deal" that we offer on Angie's List, this deal does not include drain cleaning services. We do not perform drain cleaning services directly. We subcontract those services out for the following reasons: 1. The drain/sewer cleaning work does not require a licensed plumber to perform the work. 2. Our customers tend to require these services in such an expedited manner that we are unable to deliver prompt-enough service. 3. Our subcontractors are able to provide responsive service at very competitive rates that most of our customers find very reasonable. Our firm takes a significant amount of time interviewing and qualifying drain/sewer cleaning subcontractors because we are committed to ensuring that the firms we contract with offer the same level of respect, trust, and service when assisting our customers. As a residential plumbing company, we understand that drain/sewer cleaning services are a "must have" service for our customers. We always instruct the our subcontractors to simply perform the services and inform our customer that an invoice for the services will follow from Tony LaMartina Plumbing Company. However, in your case the technician was unaware of this and provided you with a price which represented "our cost" (i.e. contractor pricing) for the service performed. I called LaMartina Plumbing because we were having a problem with the water pressure in our house and also had a continuously running toilet. My husband and I decided that since we were having a plumber come to our house anyway, we would take the opportunity to replace two older toilets in our house that we had been wanting to do for some time. I had heard of LaMartina Plumbing before looking on Angie's List, but their high rating definitely helped me decide to use them. My conversation with the person who set up my appointment was professional and friendly. The plumber who came to do the work was excellent-friendly and professional. He was there for a couple of hours to get all of the work done and had to go from the basement to my second story to take care of the pressure valve and the toilets. He left my house clean. I was given an approximate cost of the job and the final bill came in slightly less than expected. What a nice bonus! I would definitely recommend LaMartina and would use them again.

Replacement was probably a very simple job for him. We have an older house with old pipes and the water in our area has sediments and pipes corrode. Later in the evening as water had worked its way through the house we lost pressure in the kitchen due to loose sediment clogging the flow. This was no fault of theirs as it happened over time in the bathroom earlier this year. Working on the pipes probably shook some loose and it worked its way through over the course of the day. We called and they came out immediately to fix the issue by pulling out the faucet and cleaning the sediment out. They were great about coming back out right away as it was almost impossible to use the kitchen sink with the water coming out so slowly.
Description of Work: Replaced long pipe connected to hot water heater and later cleared faucet of sediment.

Description of Work: I used Tony LaMartina Plumbing Company, Inc. Big Deal purchase in November. I had a gas plant leak and I asked them to come by and see if they can help fix it. He did fix one portion of leak, but he didn't know how to test the line to see if the leak was completely repaired so he just fixed that portion and that is all he could do, so I had another plumber come in and they were able to easily and test that line was still leaking so unfortunately problem has not been resolved.

Pretty uneventful at first - the guy was normal, he ordered a part, I waited two weeks for it to ship, he came back fixed the leak. The next day I noticed that the shower was colder. Not wanting to take another day off work to hang out with the plumber, I jacked up the temperature on the hot water heater and forgot about it. I started receiving overdue payment notifications even though I payed promptly after receiving the invoice. I gave them the transactions ID for my payment and they apologized for the misunderstanding. I still continue to receive these notifications each month and it is a minor nuisance. Then it actually got cold out and my band-aid solution of increasing the water temperature ceased being effective. I called them and spoke to a guy that told me that my faucet was too old and therefore the temperature could probably not be adjusted but he would call me back...except he didn't call me back that day, or the next day. Then I received another overdue payment notification, lost it, and got pissy with them via email (told them to get their **** together and un-**** my shower while they were at it). Today I got a call and, after Tony reprimanded me personally for my email etiquette, and casted doubt on my willingness to repeat my remarks "to his face", he offered to come look at it free of charge with the caveat that there was probably nothing that could be done. No thanks Tony.

Sir, we are sorry to hear about your recent experience with our company. Unfortunately, the first time we heard about this issue was 12/4/13, three months after the initial repair was made to your shower. For the purpose of context, please note the following details that were not included in your review: 1. When our plumber initially visited your home on 8/24/13 we replaced the tub waste & overflow to your hall bathroom tub and investigated the issue you were having with your shower valve. Our plumber made the following note on his work order: "He has a Kohler Neidecken tub shower valve that is dripping. There is corrosion on back of valve. He wanted to have a price on replacing and/or repairing, but with that corrosion I would only recommend replacing. There is access from the back and with it being a single handle valve we would not need a remodel plate. We would need to open up the wall little bit but we would not need the plate.” 2. The total costs for the first service visit in which we replaced your Tub Waste & Overflow was $261.22. 3. A couple days after the first service visit we spoke over the phone to discuss the “replacement” option and the “repair” option available to you. The “replacement” option would require the plumber to completely remove the valve and install a new valve with new trim for approximately $700. The “repair” option would require us to locate the parts and repair your Kohler Neidecken shower valve. 4. At the time of our phone conversation, you were informed that we recommend the first option, because, while it was likely more costly, we were confident that it would correct the problem. We also informed you that even if we were able to find the parts to repair your valve the problem may remain unresolved. 5. You elected to go with Option 2 and we repaired your shower valve on 9/4/13. 6. The total cost for your second service visit was $222.53. Both invoices were paid on 9/8/13. 7. Approximately 3 months later, on 12/4/13 you called our office and spoke with Lauren. During the call you said (to paraphrase) that when you turned on the water to your shower [the one we repaired] that the water is not getting hot enough. NOTE: During the conversation you did not inform us that you “jacked up the temperature on the hot water heater and forgot about it” nor did you inform us “the next day [9/5/13] I noticed that the shower was colder.” 8. During our conversation with you on 12/4/13, you were placed on hold and we had Tony speak with you directly about the issue you were experiencing. Tony informed you that your Kohler valve was originally made in 1929 and the valve is no longer available. Tony informed you that the only parts available for this valve are the parts that we installed for you on 9/4/13. In addition, Tony informed you that he would be happy to send a plumber to your home next week to make any adjustments, at no charge to you but that there would be no guarantee that the problem could be solved. You accepted this information but declined another service visit. The call ended amicably. 9. On December 7, 2013 our company sent out automated email notifications of “Overdue Payments” to a number of customers. Some of these notifications were sent out erroneously. We take full responsibility for that and we are sorry that you received that notification when your account was in fact reconciled. 10. With respect to the “Overdue Payment” notifications that you have received from our office, the email records show that you only received two notices. One notice was sent on October 10, 2013 and the other notice was sent on December 7, 2013. 11. Upon receiving the second “Overdue Payment” email notification you replied via email at 4:40pm on 12/7/13 with the following: "Is this going to be the third month in a row I have to prove that you have already been paid? Get your **** together. And while your at it un-****-up my shower so I have hot water again cause I've been taking cold showers since you geniuses charged me out the *** to fixed [sic] the leak.” NOTE: Due to restrictions placed on vulgar language used in Angie’s List reviews, I have edited your response. 12. I personally received your email on 12/7/13 and immediately escalated it to Tony. Tony attempted to contact you on Saturday, December 7 to discuss the issue. You did not answer your phone. 13. In another attempt to correct the issue, Tony called you first thing Monday morning (12/9/13). During the conversation, Tony again offered to send a plumber to your home – at no charge to you - in an attempt to fix the issue. You declined Tony’s offer. 14. During the conversation Tony informed you that your email was highly inappropriate and that you should take greater care when sending emails with such vulgar language. Any comment that Tony made regarding “repeating your vulgar remarks to his face” were likely prompted by the language you chose to use in your email. Sir, we provided you with two options to fix your plumbing issue. You chose to go with the “repair” option, disregarding our recommendation to “replace” your shower valve. We provided you with a warning, prior to conducting the repairs, that “repairing” your shower valve is not the option recommended by our plumber and “repairing” the valve may not solve the problem. Unfortunately, we were never notified that the issue remained unresolved even though, as you state, “the next day I noticed the shower was colder”. We emailed you your invoice on 9/7/13, three days after servicing your shower valve. You promptly paid your invoice without complaint. Furthermore, even after we erroneously sent you an “Overdue Payment” email notice on 10/10/13, you replied via email the same day with the following: “I paid for invoices #23164 ($222.53) and #23044 ($261.22) as a single payment of $483.75. The transaction id for my payment was MC01237XXXXX. Sorry for the confusion, I was trying to avoid costing you an extra processing fee. Thanks, Dxx.” NOTE: Angie’s List does not allow us to publish customer names. If ever there were an opportunity to bring to our attention claims of “excessive charges” and/or “subpar service” this would likely have been a good opportunity to do that. In your review, you stated, “I still continue to receive these [“Overdue Payment” email] notifications each month and it is a minor nuisance.” Again, since these notifications are being sent out “each month”, a simple reply noting that your account has been paid in full and yet your issue still remains unsolved would have alerted us to your issue. We would have gladly welcomed the opportunity to return to your home and do our best to correct your issue – at no charge to you – because our company policy is that we guarantee our craftsmanship for a period of 1 year from the original service date. In closing, as demonstrated by the overwhelming number of positive reviews on Angie’s List and other review sites, Tony LaMartina Plumbing Company has an established reputation for providing superior plumbing services to the residents of St. Louis for over 30 years. Tony LaMartina Plumbing is a joy to work with. Matt always answers your calls promptly and professionally. They show up on time, and always fix my promblems at a fair and reasonable price. My garbage disposal quit working the week before Thanksgiving...not exactly good timing. But LaMartina was here as quickly as we could arrange time off. They would have come the next day after our call, but we were not available. They had some difficulty, because our wiring is not the best. Some wires were crossed and it trip the GFI. They had to call in an electrician, and it took about an hour to track down the problem. They did not charge me anything extra for this! I called Matt, expecting to be billed for the electrician, but they had already taken care me without my even asking. Now thats a good plumber!!

It turned out great. The guy came on time. He actually changed out also a valve that was there because he recognized that it wasn’t a good valve. He did good work and finished in a timely fashion.
