Larry is great. I asked him to help find someone who could help clean my home and do general chores. Until he could find someone he said he would help. He helped me purchase a new vacuum, cleaning supplies, and spent over 2 days doing a deep clean of my home from top to bottom. In addition I had some general items that needed looking. He fixed the handle on my freezer, switched out an outlet box for a higher ampage as the switch that I wanted would not work with what was there and would have caused a fire hazard as it would heat up, patched a hole in the drywall in my office and painted, and hung some rather large pictures and a huge clock for me. He is a man of all talents.

I called Larry and he immediately responded. He contacted the renter and told him he would be out. Larry owns a key to my rental property as I have made him basically the property manager as well...he is very trustworthy. He went out within a few hours and got the water turned off and identified the leak. Unfortunately he was headed out of town that next day so he was unable to do the immediate work, but did contact a colleague of his and he came out the next morning and fix everything that needed to be done immediatly. When Larry returned from vacation he finished up the patch work and everything was good as new.
Description of Work: I own a rental property and there are always items of concern. On this occasion there was a leak in the master bath that was leaking into my downstairs neighbors condo and causing him ceiling issues.

Great! After a heavy rain storm an entire side of my house had to be replaced. They were able to find matching siding (I purchased my home many years ago) and replaced all areas damaged without issue.
Description of Work: Removal of weather damaged siding from winds and installation of new siding. Through their contacts they were able to find an exact match for the siding already on my home. I was impressed.

They have replaced every ceiling fan (x6) and almost every light fixture (office, dining room, living room, downstairs hall, upstairs hall, etc.). Not only have they removed the old and installed the new, but they have assembled even the largest of fixtures. All around great work.

This was my second remodel as I can't decide what I like. I LOVE THIS! Larry went above and beyond by sending out for tile samples and having them mailed to me. He came up with large rectangular tile to cover the walls (brown and cream). Then he built a custom apron for the bathtub. It look like a showroom bathroom.

To add to the showroom bathroom they already created, Larry created custom legs for the make-up counter to tie the paint into the tile on the walls and add that extra spark. It makes everything come together. The wood ties into the custom bathtub apron Larry mad earlier.

Most beautiful Christmas décor ever in my home with this fireplace burning. Larry created a place I never want to leave...my cats never want to leave the hearth of the fireplace either. I purchased this " $49 for Custom Kitchen/Bath Design with Full Set of Plans!" from Angie's List on 12/30/2012. I called a couple of times in January 2013 to schedule the appointment, but my phone calls were not returned. I actually forgot I had purchased this deal until I moved into a new house in 2014. I used Angie's List to email Larry at Marler & Eiford, LLC on 12/23/14 to schedule an appointment. He was out of town in December; I was out of town in January so he said he would call in February. After two more emails (1/29 and 3/24) he called and scheduled the appointment even though the offer had officially "expired". On 4/3/15, Larry came by and assessed my kitchen. He said he would have the plans finished in a couple of weeks and send them to cabinet distributor and me. After three additional Angie's List emails, two phone messages and a text message I still haven't received anything. I cannot recommend this company.

Mr. [removed member name] I am very sorry you feel that way. I do apologize if it seem like I was complaining . What I was trying to do was a gentle and polite way of setting boundaries and limiting expectations based on my previous experience with other clients. I promise in the future I will work on my communication skills so that no one else feels that way. And as far as Lowe's doing a better job for free they do not come out to homes for free Marler & eiford is a certified installer for them and we do in field measurements for them and we charge them and they then charge the customer. The program we use is identical and he training is also identical.

The work was done with a very high degree of professionalism and a great eye to detail. The back splash was a combination of glass tile and stone which is not the easiest to install. They did a great job. Care was taken if any of the pieces were damaged in cutting, that piece was replaced with a similar one from "scrap". He suggested a special grout for glass tiles which did cost extra but made the job special, not ordinary. The wooden island top is beautiful. After lightly sanding it and making necessary repairs he applied 10 coats of a polyurethane finish, a final coat with a higher gloss and a special sealer coat. Special care was taken since the room gets a lot of light and any defects are easily seen. I'm very happy with the results. The half wall at the end of the carport went beyond my expectations. He incorporated some of the original wood siding and trim that had been removed from the house previously. He made suggestions to my original bare bones design such as adding a ledge at the top of the wall and making finishing touches that make the wall inside-the-house quality. The only thing I wanted done that he couldn't do was install my fireplace doors but that was because I bought the wrong doors. The only reason I gave a B in responsiveness was because of delays in getting back to me a few times. His responsiveness to my questions and changes was very good. I will definitely use Marler and Eiford for any future projects and can highly recommend them.

This was an Angie's List Big Deal. The contractor provided a consultation and a sketch for newly remodled kitchen. They were prompt and professional for the consultation apppointment. I was more interested in seeing a design than actually beginning the work, and I think the contractor lost a little bit of interest when he realized that.

Larry Marler lead the project and also did a percentage of the work himself. You could tell that Larry cared about his quality and customer satisfaction. He did make attempts to finish the work to the best of his ability. Larry and his crew just did not have the skills to do a high quality job that you would expect from a contractor. The doors were cut inconsistent lengths, painting quality was poor and had to be redone, drywall finishing was unsatisfactory and showed it was done by a novice. Larry is a good guy and strives to make the customer happy. You can count on him to try to correct something you are not satisfied with. He and the crew just do not have the skills needed to do the finish work on a job.

We had Larry Marler bid the job in the summer of 2013. I was clear with Larry that I would not be ready to begin the project until sometime in October. Larry assured me that my timeline would not be a problem. A couple of weeks latter Larry supplied the most detailed and comprehensive bid out of the four bids that we had received. Larry's estimate came in right in the middle of the high and low estimates. My father-in-law, who is a contractor in Chicago, reviewed all four estimates and he told us that Larry's seemed dead on. At that point I contacted Larry to get the ball rolling. Our project was delayed until late November due to issues with the City of St. Louis. We had to get an architect involved to draw up plans for the City. After being sent from the City planning and permit office twice to obtain additional information and details, I gave up! Larry stepped in and made it happen. He came by to pick up additional copies of the plans and dealt with the City. Once the plans were approved by the City Larry began the ordering of supplies and scheduling of our project. Larry and his crew worked on the garage over a period of just under two months. We had a very cold, sporadic and wet winter here in St. Louis but Larry was on site whenever the weather would permit. He was even on site when the temperature was in the low teens. Although the weather was not cooperative, we really felt like Larry was doing everything in his power to move the project along. He communicated with me on a regular basis his intentions, plans, and schedule. While working on the garage Larry braced the three walls that were to remain and took great care throughout the duration of the work to protect the walls. He meticulously removed the roof, trusses, and front wall. He removed the materials, cleaned up, and roped off or boarded up the site each night for safety. Once all of the old and damaged structure was removed Larry had the new materials delivered and began rebuilding. Larry built a sub-wall on top of the old walls to bring the building height up to code. He also installed a gusset to tie the old walls to the new sub-walls. Larry and his crew then installed new prefabricated trusses and rebuilt the front wall to hold a standard 11 x 7 garage door. A large and very heavy header was installed to support the front wall over the garage door. I was impressed with the crew's ability to position the beam that high without the use of a crane. New ply-wood went onto the roof and sides of the garage where applicable. Larry's team installed a new roof, garage door, side door, window, vinyl siding, soffits, trim, gutters, etc... Larry even left what remained of the new materials, i.e. wood, siding, and shingles, for any future repair needs we may have. He even placed the additional siding up in the trusses so that it would be stored and out of our way. Other than the three walls that had to remain we now have an entirely new and structurally sound 20x20 garage. Larry made the experience for us. He is friendly, attentive, forthcoming, detail oriented, and he communicated consistently throughout the duration of our garage project. We love our new garage so we are very thankful that we found Marler and Eiford. We trust Larry and we will definitely work with him on all our future projects.
Description of Work: We had a two car garage with leaning walls and a sagging roof beyond repair. The City of St. Louis would not allow us to tear it down and build from scratch on the existing foundation so our only option was to have the structure significantly rebuilt. Larry Marler of Marler and Eiford, LLC provided excellent execution of our project.
