Overall, things went very well. As indicated above, a bit unhappy about the roughness with some furniture and possessions on the loading end. The other load on the truck evidently was from a smoking household, so a downside was that all of our furniture and possessions absorbed the smell. We have used a lot of Febreze, laundry sheets, and airing out to get the smell out of our possessions as well as laundering all of our clothing. This was something that was unanticipated, but I'm not sure we could control. Moving-in went very well in Aurora. They set furniture up where we asked them to and were very accommodating, professional, and efficient. We have a few marks on some furniture and had a few broken items so far as we unpacked. Some glasses, a Corelle tea kettle, etc. We packed our own stuff, so that is on us. In the Kirksville area, with a AAA discount, Atlas (Mallory) was the lowest price and provided $75,000 in full replacement value coverage. I found Steve and Richard (co-owners) at Mallory easy to work with in the estimating and scheduling process. They provided at no cost some used boxes for oversized pictures that we had. If I used movers again, I would ask about what steps they take to protect our belongings against smells, such as cigarette smoke.
