He gave me back the correct address, and started detailing the different charges, like how many sf he came up with, then $40 to pull up the old carpet; $70 for shipping, and $100 minimum for the installers, because they don't like small jobs, so he has to charge a minimum of $100 for installation. I told him that his salesperson told me it was $2.15sf, including padding and installation, period. He said, yeah, but he had to charge all this. I reiterated the basic fact, and said that he should honor it. He said again that his guys don't like small jobs, so he HAD to make these extra charges. I said, that's not my problem, I was quoted a certain amount. He basically said, oh well, we can't help you. I told him that he should get with the sales people and tack on the charges to the basic price, to get together with the other employees and get on the same page, because this is a dishonest way of doing business, and when he didn't answer, I said, "well, it looks like I have to try to find another business, that is honest", and he said, "oh, well, sorry you won't do business with us" I hung up. But then I called back and talked to the salesperson, and asked if she knew what was going on. She was confused, so I said, "you told me and my sister that it was $2.15sf, padding and installation included". She said "yessss" in a confused voice, and I said, "but he's padding onto that price", and she said "yeah, I guess they have other charges sometimes, and I explained that that was very dishonest, and that she should see that they honored the posted price and what she told us, and she got very flustered and said again about sometimes they have other charges. I said, "Don't you realize that that is false advertising?! That is a very crooked way of doing business, and I am going to have to make a formal complaint!" She was nearly crying and couldn't answer, so I told her I would have to find an honest company to do business with, and hung up.
Description of Work: I went in last week to check out how much for flooring for one bedroom. They said they would send someone out to measure, and call me with the details the next day. I finally called them, and they said "We so busy, we haven't worked up the costs yet". Two days later, he left me a voicemail. The carpet I had selected was $2.15sf, and that price included padding and installation. On the voicemail, he left me a very high price, which, when I worked it out before taxes, turned out to be $2.99sf. When I called him back this morning, I asked him if he was referring to the correct address, because the difference between my figuring and his was very different.
