Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I called Roto - Rooter, and stated I was a member of Angie's List and wanted to use the $30.00 off coupon to get the drain cleared. The lady would not give any prices over the phone. She did state that the person that came out would be able to give information about pricing, and would need to see what actually was needing to be done. Prior to calling Roto- Rooter, I called a highly recommended plumber who was not able to take the call that day, and their charge was $129.00 an hour, and said generally drains are cleared within the first hour. Knowing we have had this happen several times before, and usually paid $89 - $125, I was totally not expecting the $189.00 price I was given when Roto - Rooter came. The man was very pleasant, and after hearing my story of the previous estimate, offered to do the work for $129.00, but the $30.00 off coupon would not apply, and I would not be given the guarantee that comes with paying the $189.00 price. (Based on my previous experience with having the drained clean, it usually lasted about a year, so I was OK with that) I agreed, and the gentleman was able to get a 1 inch cable through the drain. He cabled it 3 times, and assured me he didn't do any less than he would have for anyone else. He recommend I put drain cleaner down the kitchen sink, but could only recommend their brand. I didn't want to pay the $69 charge for drain cleaner. 3 weeks later, the same drain backed up worse than it ever has before. I do not put food down the disposal, we are careful as to what goes into the drains. Previous companies that have cabled our pipes, have educated us on the various things that get hung up and cause problems in pipes. After paying to have a camera placed into the drains, and finding out that the pipe that Roto - Rooter cleared is actually 3 times larger than the 1 inch cable, and basically only a small hole was punched through the blockage, I feel that Roto Rooter could had done more to assure that the pipe was adequately cleared and clean by using a larger cable.

We use them regularly. They are always doing a good job and their pricing is okay.

We have used Roto-Rooter for many years and they've been very consistent. Very flexible in scheduling a time to perform the cleaning. The technicians (with the exception of one about a year ago) have always been very professional, pleasant, explained what they were doing, and cleaned up after themselves.

They were on time. They actually got there a few minutes early. When they couldn't unclog it with the snake, they had to take the toilet out. They put a plastic tarp down. They were very polite and very thoughtful. I liked the service and the cleanliness of the service person. He was very professional. He gave some suggestions about getting a new toilet because the one we have is not the best on the market.

My basement floor drain backed up this morning, one day before I have to leave for a 3-week trip. After calling several other companies, none of whom could come out on a Saturday, I phoned the St. Louis South Branch of Roto-Rooter. The woman who took my call was friendly and efficient, the truck was at my house in 1.5 hours and the technician (Eric) had the sewer line cleared out in an hour. The charge was a little on the high side but their fast response was worth it. Now I can finish my laundry, prepare for my trip and don't have to worry about coming home to a flooded basement if there is a big storm while I'm gone. Definitely recommended!

The metal on the flange that the toilet fasten to was corroded and he replaced it for me. It was a good experience the gentlemen was real helpful and got it done in a timely manor. He was very professional.

They are easily accessible and responsive. Their work is adequate or better and their prices are moderate. They are rapid responders.

I had a kitchen faucet that needed to be replaced that my son had broke while I was out of town. I did purchase a new fixture and attempted to replace it myself. I could not get under the sink enough to see how to loosen the fixture (come to find out my brother put the part in upside down and Moen requires a certian tool to loosen). I did however disconnect all the hoses and pretty much had it ready to go. I called several plumbers but no one could get to me until the next week. I will say as far as getting someone there same day Roto-Rooter is very good in emergencies. I was at work so I told them to call me 20 to 30 minutes before they would be there and I would leave work, which they did. The gentleman showed up an hour later than when we was supposed to be there. He told me that plumbing was expensive and it would typically cost $300-$350 to do but since I pretty much had it ready to go it shouldn't be that much. It took him around an hour and a half to replace and then he said I needed a new valve (which he had on the truck) and that typically happens when you turn off the water at that spot instead of the main water turn-off valve. The part cost about $15-$20 everything else was labor. Unless it is something that I have to have done right away I believe I would wait to use another plumber.

It was supposed to be free and then it ended up costing $180. The technician was not very clear on what we were being charged for. We were under the assumption that it was guaranteed and that we would not be charged for it. He said the only reason that we would not be charged was if they found something like underwear blocking the drain; those were his words. Upon inspection they said grease was blocking the drain and said we had to pay the $180. I will not use them again in the future.

We called about 10pm on a Saturday and Dan arrived within 35 minutes (earlier than the expected time). He was funny and professional and he got right to work. He snaked the main waste pipe from two different points to ensure the clog was gone. Dan did a great job and represented the company well.

He had to keep taking breaks. I needed him to give a statement so the city would pay for the broken sewer line. He said he did not want to get involved. It ended up costing me extra money to have the raw sewage cleaned up by another company. I will not use them again.

Overall the experience went great. I got tired of not having ice and water in the brand new fridge at 11pm on a Friday night. After doing some research I thought Roto Rooter would be great. Placed an Appointment for service on their website and got a call the next morning to confirm and they even asked if they could come earlier. I said sure - come. I can't remember the Plumber that came out and usually I write their name down to give them the proper credit but the plumber was great. The previous owners of the house had a shut off valve pretty much sealed in the cieling when they did a remodel. Our Plumber was able to get on the ladder and without being able to see the valve was able to turn it on and we had ICE and Water - no leaks. It was great. With the shut off valve he was able to tighten it and it's been leak free ever since. Was able to accept credit card payment right from my foyer without having to write down the number and i got a reciept right there. Overall the experience was great.

Mike Harris cabled the main line to clear it of tree roots, which were causing a backup through my basement floor drain when I did laundry. He also poured RootX down one of the toilets as a preventative measure, and left me some Pipe Shield to pour down any slow-draining sinks, showers, etc. He did a good job. It was all a little pricey, but my drains are running fine now. And he showed up when he said he would, and worked quickly once he got here. I have no complaints.

They did fine service. Their price was a little higher than expected.

I have recommended them to two others who was just as pleased. They are just very good at what they do.

The experience was okay overall. Their price was very reasonable and they were responsive. The technician arrived on time and he was very nice. It seemed to fix the problem for awhile, then it came back, but then the problem went away.

The floor drain in the basement had backed up. I called on a Sunday morning at 8 am and by 9:30, Roto-Rooter had a plumber there to fix the problem. Great job! Great service!

Not a satisfactory experience. First plumber never mentioned apparent code violation. Roto Rooter did call and try to address my concerns.

My plumbing adventure started on Saturday when the plastic shower knob broke. I went to Lowe's to get a replacement knob. While i was there i bought a spigot, too, since we have extremely hard water and that knob was having problems, too. Let me say, I'm not a plumber and I don't play one on TV but I did think I was capable of replacing some bathtub fixtures on my own. I first noticed a problem with my (un)handy work on Tues. when water from the upstairs shower started leaking thru the downstairs kitchen ceiling. I was terrified to have to call a plumber after a bad experience 9 yrs ago with another company. After an internet search and phone book search, I decided to call Roto-Rooter. The number I called was listed for Belleville-O'Fallon & vicinity. Mike came over within a couple of hours and got a good look at the problem. He suggested a few low-cost adjustments (tighten the spigot and apply some clear silicone caulk) and encouraged me to try to make repairs on my own but left saying I should call if there were any problems. He was nothing but professional and helpful - a gem of a rep for RR! Having a limited income, it was refreshing to be given a little direction and opportunity to try to do things on my own. Things just didn't work out though because on Wed. I noticed the same problem. Apparently my caulk-job was bad. On this service call, Demetric came out. He was here for one hour and decided that the replacement spigot was causing the problem. He did a little soldering and replaced the spigot so now things work great. The cost was fair compared with my previous experience. I appreciated Demetric's humor and would definitely call RR again for any other plumbing problems (and probably skip trying to do things myself!) . Demetric had to make several trips out to his truck to get different tools but he always wore booties on his shoes in the house. He was very respectful and knowledgeable. The only thing I didn't like about the entire experience was that I had printed an online coupon for $40 off but I didn't present it until after the bill was already calculated. Demetric had already given me a discount of $32 on parts and said he couldn't give me any additional discounts. I think this part was my fault so I appreciate the service I got for the price. Anyway, his discount was more than the $30 off offered by saying I was a member of Angie's List!

I purchased a stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher from Home Depot. With the purchased I paid to have the appliances installed. I was called the day before giving me a delivery time of 10:00 to 2:00. The appliances were delivered around 12:30 by Lynn Star delivery. Around that same time Roto Rooter was called to install my dishwasher. I heard the young man make the call. At 3:00 I called Lynn Star to ask about the installation of my dishwasher. After checking, I was told there had been a mix-up -- the call had been dropped. After another call was made to the company by Lynn Star, the plumber from Roto Rooter showed up at 4:45 p.m. When he came in with a scowl on his face, I voiced my displeasure with the late service. He mumbled something and walked out of my house and drove away. I again called Lynn Star, and they sent the same guy back to do the job (I was told he was the only one in my area). With my new dishwasher sitting in my kitchen, my hands were tied. He arrived back at 5:45(an hour later) and completed the job by (6:10p.m). What an ordeal!! I will make sure I never have to use Roto Rooter again.

No obstructions and only a few roots were found. Carl explained his work, showed me the roots and indicated I could safely wait another 18 months before cabling again. I was able to print a $40 Roto Rooter coupon from their web site that was applied to the charge.

The fact that he knew the price before he even knew what he had to do, really irked me. To know the price before he knew what he had to do is puzzling to me. The person that I dealt with was very polite and professional. He was punctual as he could be; he was there within two hours, which was within the time frame they told me. The only the issue I have is the fact that the price was quoted before they even knew what they had to do. I spoke to the service manager, and he said that within 24 hours he would get back to me regarding this issue (the price) and he never got back with me. They cashed the check today.

Our septic tank pumping was long overdue. So though we did not have a problem we needed to take care of that. I called Roto rooter in the morning and and got an appointment for 2 hours later. They do subcontract the job and sent a person with the truck. He showed up in a timely manner , did his job and and left. The visit was uneventful and we are good for another 5 years. He also gave a few dos and don'ts about preventive measures for backups etc . I am satisfied with the job and will use the service of the company again when needed. The estimate was right on.
