Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I was getting water in my basement as soon as my washing machine would end its cycle. Mike from Roto-Rooter came out quickly to determine the cause. I was impressed that he arrived within one hour of me placing the call. Mike was able to flush out a clogged pipe. He had me flush toilets, turn on the shower and run the washer just to be sure. He was done within an hour which was fantastic! I've run my washer several times since then and have not had any further problems. I give Mike the provider and the entire company an "A" for top-notch service. The only area that needs improvement is their scheduling department. The phone representative asked me the same questions multiple times and kept getting my address wrong. She mispronounced my name twice even after I corrected her. It seems Roto-Rooter scheduling is done through a separate office in Chicago. My hope is that these representatives can be trained to respond more efficiently. When a customer has plumbing trouble they don't want to repeat their address five times! Aside from that one concern, if you need someone to fix a plumbing problem quickly and efficiently, Roto-Rooter is a great provider.

Roto-Rooter was able to schedule my appointment the same day that I called to request service. The serviceman was on time. He quickly assessed the issue and went to a plumbing supply store to get the part. He was able to match the existing hardware in our shower and change out the hardware with no issues. I recommend Roto-Rooter as they were fast, efficient and professional.

The appointment was set for Saturday between 10 and 2. Earlier in the morning we received a call that they could come earlier if we would prefer. Due to family getting ready for the day, that was not possible. a phone call was received at about 9:30 a.m. that don would be arriving at 10 a.m. when don arrived he put on booties before entering the house. The toilet was installed around 4 years ago. After Don removed it, he saw that the installation had not been done correctly. Toilet repaired and caulked. I also asked Don to look at the drain from the washing machine which was not flowing very well. He snaked it out and it is now running perfectly. Totally happy with the entire experience.

Plumber came out and when he did not have the part he needed he went to the hardware store in 5 o'clock Friday traffic and returned with the correct part to make the repair. He was very nice and professional. When he was running late the company called to let me know.

Kevin was dispatched early in the morning and arrived 20mins later when the scheduler said between 1-4 hour window. Kevin listened to my issue and knew what needed to be done. After he finished the cleaning out the line, he showed me that the cable was covered in mud. He looked towards the street and asked if I noticed any sink holes forming in a specific area of my yard. Well I was and he suggested that I contact my City Hall and ask about their Lateral Line Repair Program. He said he is seeing evidence of a break in my line and mud was filling it in.

I was very pleased that the technician could come so quickly. He knew right away that the leak was from the toilet, not the shower as we had thought and he got right to work. He at no time wasted time. He left no mess and I would recommend the company very highly.

Angie's Deal read "$25.00 for $75.00 Worth of Plumbing Service" I purchased the deal only to have Roto-Rooter Plumber quote me a price of $234.00 for changing the bathroom faucets. This cost does NOT include the faucets which we already had purchased.

Patrick called ahead with his arrival time and assessed the situation with the basement drain. He then unload his equipment and started the cabling of the sewer lateral line out to the main line. It was a hot day, but it didn't seem to slow him down and he finished within an hour. Since I had rotor-rooter service before for another problem, he discounted this trip considerably. I was very pleased with his work and his manner.

Repair man called to inform us he was delayed and would be late ( 2-3 hours). Good communication. Job was done fast, no messes left behind. Price was excessive 287.00 for replace tank innards, labor and parts. I was given a paper stating "Write a review...get a refund! Up to $500. Write a review on your favorite review site." I feel this would lead to people writing better reviews in hopes of getting a refund!

Very nice workman. Very helpful. Everything fixed quickly and and done right. I called on Monday and they came out to fix the items that same day.

Carl showed up right on time. He looked at project and gave me a quote. I showed him my Angie's coupon which he accepted with no problem. He brought in his equipment and started work. Took about an hour including clean-up and all looks great and works as it should. Very courteous and professional. I am very happy. Steve

The Roto-Rooter rep (Glenn Roeder) arrived right on time and started work immediately. He was very polite and took the time to put on protective covers over his shoes before entering the house. I showed him the problem with the sink and then showed him the drain pipe in the basement. He then recommended snaking the drain from that location. First, he put protective newspaper on the walls to keep them clean, then put out a tarp on the floor to protect that. Then he check the drainage from that location (which was fine) and proceeded to cable the branch sewer pipe out. He said he could tell approximately where the sludge problem was and augered that area several times. He recommended that we perform several enzyme treatments over the next few days (which we plan to do.) After his work, he cleaned up everything to my satisfaction. The bill was exactly what was quoted to me before the work started. I definitely would recommend Roto-Rooter and especially the rep I had (Glenn Roeder).

Don was professional and very pleasant. He was as stumped as we were as to why the new toilet would be seeping water. Because of deadlines we have to meet for out-of-town family arrival, Don quickly went to the supply house, purchased a new toilet and installed it. He even carried the "other new" toilet to our garage so we could return it to the store for a refund. I would use Roto-Rooter and Don again in a heartbeat. I rated the cost as a "B" because it was a little more pricey since I had him purchase the toilet, but again, with the deadline we are facing, the additional cost just could not be avoided.

I called for service late on a Saturday afternoon. Roto-Rooter was able to schedule service for 7:00 p.m. the same day. Very nice that there was no additional charge for after hours/weekend service. Technician arrived during the promised window. Stopped drains were cleared in less than an hour. Technician was very professional. Roto-Rooter's service is a bit pricey, but it helped that their pricing gives a 50% discount for the second drain on the same service call; plus the Angie's List discount helped, too. Well worth it, considering their promptness and convenience.

He was great. They gave us a 4 hour time window. Came within 2. He snaked the clog, gave me some drain cleaner and discussed tree roots with me. He was finished in 45 minutes. Very professional and very nice.

Roto-Rooter was excellent. I called on Friday evening at 8:00 pm and they were willing to come out yet that night. They said they would be there by 10:00 but they were held up at another job. They called at 9:15 to let me know that they were not able to get there by 10:00 as another job was delayed so I set it up for the next day. When they arrived, the technician explained the services and the cost of the services. He was very professional and took care of the problem. I thought it was a deal for $164.00 because I didn't want to have to clean it out!

Basement floor drain slow, used roto rooter's cleaner, it has been took cared. Thanks.

They charged me $200 to replace a $5 fitting and $400 to replace a $200 sump pump. I had a coupon and he said he could not use because he already gave me a discount on both jobs UPDATE A manager has since contacted me and gave me credit for the amount of the coupon. I appreciate the effort on Roto Rooter's end and will use them again

I purchased a Big Deal through Angie?s List for $25 for $75 Worth of Plumbing Services. They came out and spent 20 minutes repairing the leak and wanted to charge my daughter-in-law $234.00. They did take off the $75 so she only paid $159 but I think the ad was deceptive and the price was too high.

They were very professional and friendly. I would use Roto-Rooter again.

He did a good job.it just seems awful expensive to charge 267 to route 1 drain!

The office personnel that we spoke to initially were very friendly, courteous and professional, and said they would do their best to get someone out to us as soon as possible. Mario responded not too long after, much more quickly than we expected, given all the heavy rain we had been experiencing. He was extremely courteous, friendly and professional. He ascertained the problem (clog in the sewer lateral about ten feet from the drain) and cabled it to dislodge the clog. He also applied a chemical solution to the drain to help keep it clear, and left the remainder of the container with us, with instructions on its use. Throughout the whole process, Mario made us feel that we were in good hands - he was very knowledgeable and competent. We felt that, given the prompt attention and high level of service, the price was reasonable. We will not hesitate to use this Roto Rooter location again in the future.

The technician quickly identified the problem and explained our options. The fix was fast and he took the time to show us exactly what had been replaced and what to expect in the future.

When the provider arrived, my husband was told that the discount off the price would be $50, and that they couldn't add a cut-off valve we had asked for without a permit. The Big Deal we bought was for $75 toward the cost of a job. I had to call Angie's List to have them talk with provider to explain the pricing. After finding out that the discount was $75, he was told that for an additional $75 above the cost of the faucet install which was $234 for less than an hour's work, he would repair the cut-off valves that were there. Since he was already in the house, and the first deal provider we contacted wouldn't install a faucet at all that they didn't sell us, we let him do the work but I was pretty outraged by the price and tactics.

It did not go well: The "1-800" Call Center made appointment for next day (the good); the technician called the day of the appointment an hour after the noon-3 pm window (he called at 4pm to say he was swamped at a previous job) and needed to reschedule (the bad); but when he arrived today he informed me there was a $250 flat rate for any first job and then discounted rates on subsequent jobs during that same service call (the ugly). there is no way a snaked drain should cost $250. This is a service charge arrangement and I specifically inquired about that when I scheduled the appointment. I was told each job was individually, there is no service charge. I'd rather pay the $65-$75 service charge that some other plumbers charge and then the actual cost of the drain procedure. This is the response I just sent to the vendor via Angie's List Message center: "I am extremely frustrated that your technician told me there is a flat rate of $250 for "any" first task...then whatever the prices will be for other tasks during the same service call. This is, in effect, a service charge. When I called I specifically asked about that and was told there was no service fee. I need my drain snaked...there is no way that costs $250. This feels like a bad way to do business, especially after you cancelled the first appointment because "your technician got overwhelmed at another job site." So, in essence, I wasted two partial days from work to be told what you should have told me when I first made the appointment--you do have a service charge (no matter how you try to mask it). I just scheduled with Drain Medic for $75 to snake my drain."
