Terrific. Andy came out to see the job on Saturday after I called that Monday. When I told him that I had a dinner party on the following Saturday he arranged to do the work on Thursday.

I CALLED AND TOLD THEM WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE AND THEY CAME OUT THAT DAY AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEM TO DO THE WORKS IN TWO DAYS. THEY CAME BACK TWO DAYS LATER AND DID THE JOB. VERY SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS.

I was very pleased with the professional manner that the company demonstrated during this project. The company came out and submitted a written bid for the projects. The estimates were clear and detailed exactly what work would be performed. They checked back with me to verify the scheduled dates and projects. They arrived on time, completed the installation and cleaned up. The workmanship was well done and completed in a timely manner. Also, I received a follow-up call to make sure that the work was performed to my satisfaction.

Well it when fine until I realize that the outlet on the wall directly behind the repaired outlet no longer worked. I called Andy's to report the problem and was told, that was would be another service call and I gathered another service call fee of $75.00. During the initial inspection, the service man checked the fuse box, and other outlets in other rooms. The outlet in question that no longer worked had had been unplugged by the service man. He had mentioned that he had unplugged the strip outlet in the other room, however I found that both had strip outlet had been unplugged. One outlet with a strip was connected to Sleep Number Bed and the other (in question) on the other side of the room to the TV, DVD and treadmill. This outlet was no longer working. As I said, all outlets were working except for one in the bathroom. The serviceman stated when I called him back that it was not related however he unplugged the outlets, during the service call, but it appears he didn't address the problem. I don;t understand why he would not simply return and complete job , nor why he didn't replug the the strips, leaving them as he found them. His charge was 75.00 for the call, and extra 23.00 for parts,totaling $98.00

"First of all kindly remind her that we responded to her request as an emergency response, without charging her for emergency service. The receptacle in question was replaced in a professional and timely manner, for a minimum fee, and was working perfectly when we left. Andy told her that just because this receptacle was fixed, doesn't mean another one wouldn't go bad, as is typical with aluminum wiring in older homes. Furthermore, he advised her to hire an electrician to go over the entire wiring of her house, one receptacle at a time, as she has a very real fire hazard with faulty aluminum wiring. Also note that the receptacle was wired using "stab connections" instead of the recommended terminal connections. (This is doubly hazardous with aluminum wiring.) We are a Handyman Service, not an electrician! He unplugged the strip so as not to let the TV and other appliances get shorted out, as a precaution. We cannot keep replacing every outlet in the faulty wiring bus for the same $98.00. In fact we won't work on aluminum wiring in most instances because of the liability. We were merely trying to keep her house from burning down that night. We told her our recommendations to hire an electrician to go over the entire house wiring, to insure her safety. We are not responsible for people who won't listen to good common sense. I recommend she contact Jerry Reinhold, with Reinhold Electric. (another AL contractor ) 314-631-1158. He is very good and his prices are fair, higher than ours, but still very fair. I am a fireman's daughter. In fact, my dad was a career firefighter that died in the line of duty. That is the only reason I tried to help her. I realize people don't understand electricity, that is why they should LISTEN!!!! She has already received more than she paid for therefore I feel we don't owe her anything. I hope she listens before she or someone living in this house loses their life trying to get something free. It's NOT worth it! Sincerely Yours, Terri McDonnell P.S. Water had to be installed along with a drain and electricity had to be run to the location. The washer/dryer was installed with 1 1/2 inch clearance on each side. It was a very tight fit.

When the patio was poured I noticed problems immediately. They had a sprinkler spraying the concrete to keep it wet while it cured, but it was staying wet and the water was starting to pool. When I pointed it out to Andy he said it was fine and that they would come back and take care of it. The patio he poured led water to the house instead of away. Andy paid for a home inspector to come out. The home inspector said the patio was poured improperly. Andy's Home & Business Repair ended up having to pay us a settlement to have another company come take out and repour the patio.

Very well, Andy met me to discuss the work. He checked to see if the railing was still sound and outlined the process he would follow. He came on the scheduled date, did good work, surrounded the repaired area with "keep off" tape, cleaned up and gave us instructions for the next few days.

Andy came by the day I called for an estimate, his wife got back to me with pricing within 2 days. We set a date for 1 week after that. They started on the date we had arranged and had all done within 4 days. They were a pleasure to work with and I will definitely hire them again. I found poison ivy in the spot that they would be digging, I am VERY allergic so I couldn't take it out myself. They cleared the whole area for me, that is going the extra mile!

Since purchasing my home in August 2006 I had problems with rainwater overflowing the gutters and, at the back of the house, pooling of rainwater at the patio door. I had the gutters cleaned and covered and added an additional downspout at the rear, but the problem continued. The man I had hired said there was nothing more he could do. I contacted Andy's and set up an appointment within a few days' time. When Andy arrived, I requested an estimate that included installation of larger gutters and additional downspouts if needed, a concrete pour to even the level of the concrete patio and replacement of some siding trim that had been torn away by recent high winds. In short order, Andy determined that the real problem was that the roofing tiles overshot the gutters, resulting in the cascading of water off the roof and over the gutters. He trimmed away the excess and said we should wait and see if that solved the problem before I spent money on new gutters and downspouts. We had a very hard rain that night and to my delight there were no waterfalls over the gutters and no pooling at the patio door. Although the weather was far from cooperative, within very few days, Andy and Terri cleaned out the gutters and downspouts, installed the type of covers needed to keep the gutters clear of bird nests and debris, replaced the damaged trim, and poured a six-foot section of concrete to fill-in and level the patio area. This made it far more accessible, not to mention much more attractive. They left the work area in perfect condition. Andy and Terri were prompt, thorough, and a pleasure to have around. They saved me several hundred dollars by NOT doing work I requested, but didn't need and gave me a senior discount as well. I feel fortunate to have contacted them for this project and plan to call them again as I continue addressing issues to improve my home. This has been a very positive experience and I look forward to their help in the future, knowing that I can count on a quick response, excellent work and fair pricing. It took a couple trips and some brainstorming for Andy to figure out best way (pipe was broken off deep inside the wall, making the soldering difficult). Although the job was hairier than he initially thought, Andy still did the work for the initial quote. I was very happy!

Andy offered suggestions on cabinet styles and color. He also assisted me in choosing paint colors in relation to the chosen cabinets and counter top. Andy and his crew arrived on time on the agreed upon date. They began the job and remained on the job daily until the project was fully completed. At the end of each work day, Andy and his crew left the work area clean, neat and orderly. Andy updated me daily on the progress of the kitchen and what he planned to begin and complete the following day. Andy assisted me even further by assembling a new bakers rack and kitchen table set that was delivered during the remodeling project. I also found Terry, Andy's wife a very pleasant person to speak to. They really make a great team. I would definitely hire Andy and his crew to do upcoming home remodeling/repair projects. I contacted Andy McDonnell (and Terri, his wife) after seeing them on the list. Terri set me up for a visit to estimate on the immediate following Saturday. Andy showed up on time and took the time to extensively view this project and several others. By early the following week, Terri provided me with a detailed estimate that broke each job out to allow me to pick and chose as my budget allowed. I chose this as our first project and they set me on the calender for a few weeks later. Andy came on the appointed day (Terri called the day before to confirm) and proceeded with the work. Each day, at the end of the work, the area was completely clean. The work took about 1 week to complete. The concrete work is exceptional. You can barely tell the new concrete from the old. The aggregate matched perfectly. Andy provided a much more labor/material intensive solution to the tuck pointing than he originally anticipated, but he did not change his bid. The results are fantastic!

Having dealt with many, many contractors during the 20 years I have been one of the owners and the manager of our three-unit condo, I would place Andy's Home and Business Repair LLC at the very top of my list. Workmanship was excellent as was communication, which was especially gratifying since the work had to be done under less than ideal circumstances. Andy and his crew turned up when they said they would; went about the jobs in a thoroughly professional way, explaining matters as the jobs went along and patiently answering all questions, dumb or otherwise; kept a tidy job site; and cleaned up after themselves. In general, they did more than was asked of them but did not run up extra charges.

Andy arrived on the date promised and came at the time expected. He worked for all of the afternoon of day one until he came to a natural stopping point and then came back bright and early and worked all day along with an employee for day two. The work was done professionally and I am completely satisfied with the work. Andy was recommended to me by my realtor, and when I checked him on Angie's list I was surprised to see the earlier "rant" left by his company in response to a complaint. I almost didn't hire him. But I am glad that I did.

They were exactly on time for the evaluation, estimate, and for the work. They finished in two days, ahead of schedule. Someone in the office always answered my phone or e-mail inquires. Excellence all the way around. Another contractor had given me a lower bid, of $1100, but after we accepted, they never showed up to do the job and never called. I had to go through another round of calling for estimates. One contractor said they refused to merely patch the retaining wall but would totally rebuild it for $11,000. Andy understood what I needed, gave his estimate based on a breakdown of number of hours involved per piece of the work. So even though his cost of $1485 was higher than the no-show contractor's estimate of $1100, I'm giving Andy an A on price as well as an A on each other aspect of his work and service.
