About us

We want our homes to be calm and restful. And we want to spend time on things that matter while connecting with those we love. But life is full of unexpected road blocks and challenges. The added frustration of a cluttered kitchen or not being able to find the car keys, a cooking utensil or our child’s tennis shoes can cause us to feel like a failure in our own home. At Perfectly Placed we will eliminate the clutter and find the perfect place for everything in your home so that you can focus on what matters most. We perform home and office organization as well as closet design in St. Louis and the surrounding areas. We are passionate about giving you a better quality of life by helping you declutter and teaching you systems to simplify your life. Your investment in our services is $65-$80 an hour, depending on the amount of hours you purchase.

Description of Work: I have put off this review because I don't like giving negative reviews. But they keep asking so here it is. Two people came and moved things around in my home. I physically needed the help at the time, but didn't realize or misunderstood the costs after the initial special. It was way over priced. The helper person moved things while the owner worked with me making decisions.They moved many items to the rooms they belong and some boxes downstairs for later. I had just moved home and my back was out, so it was nice to have a clear path in main living areas. Although, I understood their reasoning regarding putting things in the rooms they belong, then working on organizing each room later, I didn't realize they would place items in the doorways of those rooms.I expected they would have gone further inside before sitting things on the floors. One thing I know about organizing and time management is that you don't move the same items again and again. Since I was paying by the hour and my back was out it seemed a purpose full maneuver. I felt I was being forced to pay to have them back. I didn't because of the cost and thus had to suffer through the pain to move items they had placed in the doorways to get into my rooms. They would have done the same thing had I had them back. I would have paid them to move the same stuff again.This realization left me cold to the idea of having them back even if I saved the money to do so. I think it was irresponsible to leave things so unsafe. I think they didn't expect me to use the rooms since they thought they would be back. I thought they were generally nice and didn't mean any harm. However the owner is definitely about making money. I did not experience her as kind as some have reported. The kindness was only when she would be talking to me about paying for their services. I believe their type of service is needed, but not at Arizona prices. I would be cautious about how I use them. Be specific to areas, have a plan and stick with it. Most of what they teach is available online. Getting organized is not complicated if you break it down in segments and be willing to let go of some things. Take pictures of those things you want to remember, but have no room for anymore. Learn to live with an imperfect home as well. Life is too short.

We strive for customer satisfaction in every job and it is unfortunate that this was not your experience. As to your concern of where we placed items for later, we went into the rooms as far as we were able without moving a load of items, so that we could stay focused on the space in which we were working. The rooms in the basement were already full to the doorways. You also mentioned that you did not experience me as kind. I’m sorry you felt that way and was confused by that comment. I spent an hour on the phone with you before we booked an appointment and additional time at the appointment as you as you poured out your story and processed the shame of the circumstances you were in. I remember giving words of encouragement, showing kindness, assuring you that we were there to help and hugging you. Again, I’m sorry your expectations were not met and wish you the best as you organize on your own.

Description of Work: While I really didn't want to write a review (not looking forward to a "you shouldn't have had a disability and needed our services" type response), I feel it is important that other women, finding themselves in a similar situation and needing help, be aware that they really may not getting caliber help for the Deal that they would expect. | |Based on the Angie's List input, I thought I was working with a reputable firm, not a "clearing house".(?) (Pun not intended.) By the way, when they arrived, these gals had no identification linking them to Perfectly Placed Organization and Design. No ID. Nothing. Just first names. So I just had to trust these gals. They did a decent job. | |Apparently my work was outsourced to 2 independent women who, before they left, told me that I should contact "what was the name of that company?" "oh, yeah, Perfectly Placed" for some additional help in my home. Then Zip - they were in their car and driving off. Then just WHO WERE THEY? What was their relationship with Perfectly Placed? Subcontractors? | |My Main Concern was that the 2 gals did not LQQK at papers they were throwing away and they did not ask questions about papers - every piece of paper was pitched. | |My town uses blue bags for recycling. After they left, I checked the blue bags for papers (to be recycled) and was shocked to find important business letters and legal documents had been stuffed in them. | |I would expect that "professional organizers" would have felt important papers were important and would have set them aside. That simple. |This should be obvious for people chose organizing as their trade. | |For that reason, I cannot give a higher grade today (though I really wanted to). | |(As Vince Lombardi would say to his Green Bay Packers at practice the day after a loss, "Gentlemen, this is a football.") | |Back to the basics, please. Thank you. | |My advice to someone using their service, have penciled down some expectations to give some guidance. (I never would have guessed this would be needed, but we can all learn here and have better experiences.) |

As to your concern that we did not show ID; we arrived at the scheduled time in our company shirts and introduced ourselves. I (Susan) am the owner of the company and was one of the workers on the job. Additionally, my photo is prominently displayed on my website and you and I had spoken via the Angie’s list message center to schedule the session. I’m not sure where the confusion came in for you about the work being outsourced. At the time of service, we discussed guidelines for handling papers and received permission from you on what could be thrown away. We also set aside a large bin of papers we felt you personally needed to look through. At the end of our time, you asked us to return to continue the progress we had made. However, I felt that the job was bigger than we could handle and recommended a colleague of mine who has a larger team. I wrote down on the receipt for you to contact Janine from Peace of Mind Organizing. Again, I’m sorry your expectations were not met and wish you the best as you seek out another company to meet your needs.

Description of Work: Reorganized my kitchen cabinets and helped me get rid of a lot of the extra clutter. My kitchen flow has greatly improved -- I wish I would have done this a long time ago. Description of Work: I got the 3-hr package and wasn't sure what to expect, having not worked with any organizers before. Susan came and I liked that she talked with me about my needs before we began doing anything. I felt like she really tried to understand what I needed and work with what I have. She taught me some skills in addition to helping me organize our kitchen pantry, which was a disaster. She set up a system that works and easy to maintain. Love the results and I highly recommend this company to anyone, especially if you're like me and don't know where to start!

Description of Work: As an organizer Susan knew just how to help me. I was lost in a sea of papers that I did not know how to organize and they just kept piling up. On her first visit she asked me some questions about what I wanted to achieve. She gave me a system of what to file and what to throw away. |She even helped me go through stuff and as I did that, she was busy clearing off spaces that had been cluttered. I highly recommend her services. She is professional and very understanding of situations like mine.

Description of Work: Declutter, cleaned up and organized one-car oversized detached garage space to accommodate yard and garden equipment, bicycles and sports gear, outdoor house and holiday decor, storage for some household furnishings, and ample room left to park vehicle!!! They did a great job! Used their time effectively and efficiently. They listened, were very knowledgeable and incorporated my suggestions, too. Easy to work with and they did an excellent job.

Description of Work: We used a 6 hour special available through Angie's List. I expected that the six hours would be two 3 hour sessions with time for me to do some "homework" in-between. Rather it was two ladies for three hours. This worked okay but was more difficult for me to work with them collaboratively since they were in different rooms. I probably also overestimated how much we would get done, so between these 2 issues it was a bit anti-climactic. The ladies were nice, responsive & respectful; so when I save up the money I may use her again, but would probably prefer just one lady at a time with assignments between sessions.

Description of Work: Susan and Melissa have helped us in our effort to downsize and move. I was worried about "judgement" put those concerns to rest, they do not judge. They have been hands on as well as helping me set resonable goals that I have been able to achieve.
