Description of Work: Emily Korf returned our initial call promptly, and we set up a time for her to come to our house for a kitchen consult. She arrived on time, and spent the next hour listening to our needs/wants, providing us with feedback/ideas to meet the lowest and highest price that we wanted to spend. She did not pressure us in any way, but did give us much to think about. We have not decided what to do about our kitchen yet, but would definitely use her services again.

+ -1 moreThere are 3 doorways and a large picture window in my small living room. I've rearranged my furniture for 5 years and have never been satisfied. Emily promptly responded to my inquiry for services and made a housecall to check out what I wanted to accomplish in the living room. She took measurements, and inquired about what furniture I wanted to keep, and how many people I wanted to have seating for. She called me back in less than a week to tell me she had 5 floor plans for me to consider. She returned on a weekend day, which was wonderful, because I'm seldom available during the week. She showed me some designs that I hadn't even considered, and I'm very happy. I had an additional question about furniture size on the plans, and she e-mailed me the measurements within 24 hours. Great service, just exactly what I needed. And her brochure is one of the best I've seen--informative regarding services and price quotes (as opposed to those who keep their fees a secret until they get to your house). Fabulous! Money well spent!

+ 0 moreI am so happy with the results of this first part of the project. She married my remodel cost limitations with my desire to update and refresh my kitchen. We are now working on implementing the plan and she is helping manage all of the contractors (but that is a different project with a different budget). She gave me enough information to have given the results to my own contractor (if I had wanted to).
Description of Work: Worked with me to re-design my outdated (and too small) kitchen Worked with me to understand my design thoughts and what I was looking for. Helped me update all appliances (fridge, stove) and add a dishwasher within the space available. Designed new space, shopped for new appliances, picked colors, surfaces, etc. Helped match my needs with my budget.

+ 0 moreI learned a lot through the design and execution of this project. I didn't start with a clear vision or realistic budget. I thought it would just happen (like on HGTV). Emily is practical and will help you manage budget with suggestions on how to work with existing furniture, etc. and It did help to look over the plans for a week or two before committing to the plans (which i did). It helped to take one room (project) at a time. We started with the office as it required fewer changes. And expect to be surprised/challenged by the process- even though I hired her, it was hard to let her be in charge. Her services are in design and layout, she will recommend contractors, etc. for projects but is not the 'general contractor' for projects. I really like the finished projects and have already recommended Emily to three other friends.
Description of Work: Emily created design layout for home office and bedroom. Each design included furniture layout, paint colors, lighting, window treatment, furniture selections and for my bedroom, fabrics for custom bedding. Emily provided color print outs of furniture - at a variety of price levels, giant paint swatches and fabric examples. I did commit to both projects and we made some changes to final furniture and fabric selections. Office project: new paint, new overhead lighting, custom window treatments (roman shades), bulletin board; furniture: office chair and additional seating (2 chairs). I purchased furniture and Emily coordinated window treatment design with outstanding seamstress. Bedroom project: new furniture layout, new paint, area rug, custom window treatments (panels); custom headboard, custom duvet and shams and decorative pillows. Moved bookcase from office to bedroom; purchased bedside table. The final, final touch was having Emily buy accessories and artfully arrange floor-to-ceiling book case w/books, vases, pictures etc. It took her 45 minutes to complete - and truly looks like a photo spread from a design magazine.

+ 1 moreI had a clothes closet in my home office that wasn't at all usable for my business needs. Emily designed and installed a closet storage system for my home office area that works great. She talked to me about my needs, listened to what I wanted, drew up plans on the spot and gave me a price. She also helped me pick out the wood finish and drawer handles. She did a great job and made it a no-hassle experience. I love my new closet! The year before, Emily helped me redo my kitchen. She took me to several granite wholesalers so I could pick out the slab I wanted and then arranged installation. She suggested I investigate re-surfacing my cabinets rather than replace them and she was right. I saved a bunch and love the cabinets. She also assisted to pick out colors for the kitchen. She can do the work for you or you can get advice and do it yourself. Nice to have that choice!
Description of Work: Designed and installed a storage system in the closet of my home office area. The year before, assisted with granite counter selection and installation for my kitchen as well as advice about cabinets and paint colors.
