My initial inquiry was answered very quickly, although follow up was more difficult although I was told that a third party ( my designer) held that up some. To me they seemed to dwell too much on asking me how much the other bids were, instead of just giving me a bid. they finally told me that they would be more expensive, and that the other contractor ( who had a very high ranking on Angie's List with as many or more reviews than this contractor ) probably wasn't experienced enough and that if we went with the other contractor there would probably be problems, as their contract didn't look solid to them. We went with a different contractor

The 2nd call I had with Steve was very helpful. He took time to talk through various scenarios with me and gave me some suggestions - including continuing to go ahead with another company that I confessed had been out to the house. After trying to get an estimate from that other company (they did not get back to me after a week passed by), we called him again. My husband called him early this afternoon, and Steve spoke with him and said he would be out at 5. He arrived exactly on time, was very polite, and even apologized that I thought he seemed arrogant when he spoke with me on the phone the first time (he had read my review, which I thought showed commitment to providing good service). I was impressed with the whole visit and we plan to have our work done by Lemke & Sons.

The business would charge $150 to come a give me an quote! I am only 20 miles away. In talking to multiple contractors I was never asked to pay for a quote. If you can afford it, go ahead!

So far, I have only spoken with Steve on the phone. He said that he would charge several hundred dollars to do an estimate/come out to our house and see the damage and that is his standard practice when dealing with an insurance claim. I explained that we had just been burned by a different contractor on another job, and I wanted to make sure to get several quotes this time. He suggested that I look up his company's information, compare his company to others in terms of years in business, etc - inferring that his company is very reliable. I'm sure it is, but I still felt unsure of having to pay a fee even if we didn't end up hiring them. He asked me to email my claim to him and set up a time to come out. I went about gathering some other quotes from people who don't charge to do an estimate and I did email the claim to their general inbox and asked for his availability. That was a couple of days ago, and I haven't heard anything back. I think I will call on Monday to see if they got the email or not. I'm sure that they would do a good enough job on the work, but I didn't like the way Steve communicated with me on the phone. I felt that he was disrespectful and condescending. And I don't like the practice of charging so much money to do an estimate.

I appreciated the research Steve put into finding the best suited materials and providing me with options. They built an additional wall a couple inches in from the existing wall and used soundproofing materials to make sure I had the best chances for quiet in that bed room. They used steel studs, sound batting insulation, soundboard sheet rock and acoustical sealant. In the master closet (because of limited space) they simply used acoustical sealant/glue and attached sound board sheet rock on top of the existing sheet rock to help with any sound coming in from that part of the wall. They did a really great job, the final result was excellent quality. And I don't hear the neighbors through that wall anymore.

I will give you all the details once the work is done. I am excited and ready to see our new bathroom take shape.

We had a different contractor complete part of a basement remodel, but decided to look else where for someone to finish the project due to some quality issues. Contacted Lemke and Sons and they responded promptly. They came to the house to give us an estimate on finishing a basement remodel project a different contractor had done part of. Steve spent a lot of time going over the project with us to make sure he understood what we wanted and to evaluate what the other contractor had already completed. Steve provided a detailed estimate and showed us options we had not considered. Lemke and Sons bid was not the cheapest, but we selected them because they had great communication and good references. They started the work on time as soon as we had made most of our decisions. We had some doors that the previous owner had purchased that we wanted to use. Steve suggested we go with a little nicer door, but we were trying to conserve costs, so he agreed to use the existing doors. Steve's team did a great job on the remodel and the quality of the finish carpentry was terrific. We did learn that the doors we choose to use were pretty inexpensive and difficult to install due to some warping of the frames. Steve's team was still able to complete the work and made the doors work. They also had to deal with a number of issues/mistakes the other contractor made. His team was even able to move an installed fireplace because it was not centered by the previous contractor with very little additional cost. The quality of the work was top of the line, communication was great and we are very happy with the results. I would highly recommend Lemke and Sons and will be hiring them again in the near future.

This job was done without us present, as we live in New York. Steve explained things over the phone, provided estimates and updates as needed, and advised when circumstances changed. He provided alternatives but did his work according to the book. Was able to deal with and navigate a tough situation with some unhappy tenants.

Steve Lemke came by to look the situation over, noting ice damage, hail damage, and leaking on the interior of my home. He made a number of suggestions on the overall energy effectiveness of my home, connected me with a plan to test the house and then we set to work estimating and working with my insurance company for a fair outcome. A past major commercial contractor had replaced our gutters and the installation caused damage to the roof edge I could not see under the shingles. After the past two years of major snow dripping was showing up on the exterior walls inside my home. Due to heat leakage through the garage I had a significant ice dam problem that was dripping and threatening to tear up the roof. The base layer of shingles were torn off and the new put on. Steve's team was careful to work with us to get us the best shingle in our budget and the color / style we all agreed would compliment the house. They did a great job - the old base layer came off, the new went on, all the details were taken care of and the mess, which was always picked up at the end of the day, went away. They communicated with us through the course of the project and we are pleased we selected Lemke and Sons.

They were very professional and we were happy with them but we found somebody that offered more of the things we wanted. They got us the estimate fairly quickly and were personable. We didn't have a problem with them it was just a question of what we were looking for and what they could offer.

I placed a call to this business on July 19, 2012. No one answered the phoen so I left a message on the answering macine leaving my name and number twice and asked for a call back. No one returned my call. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and sent an email message to the address listed on the website and Angies List on 08/03/12. As of today, 08/06/12 at noon, I have not gotten a call or an email. I have since moved on to another contractor.

Lemke & Sons provided us with an estimate for taking out a wall in our sun porch and putting in larger windows. They were highly knowledgeable and very informative. We ended up not doing any remodeling to the sun porch for now, but if we decide to do it, we would certainly use their services as they seemed very trustworthy.

overall these fellows where great to work with. Timely and very considerate of our needs. They where willing to work with us on our budget. The crew used was all family and highly professional.

The quality of the work was excellent. They were prompt, responsive, respectful, and very easy to work with. Remodeling is never a pleasure, but they minimized the discomfort, and ensured that the final result would be exactly what was promised.

My neighbor had used them in the past and she recommended them. They did a great job. They came in and they were clean. They did a thorough job. They cleaned up after themselves. They did everything that you would expect. They are someone you would wish to keep for your next project. They were just high quality.

They did amazing work no questions asked. They were outstanding and go above and beyond. They were the best contractors we ever worked with and anticipated problems that may occur.

They have done some work on my house previously and they are going to be doing some work. They were fantastic. I had seen two other people but Steve was the one who actually who was willing to fit into my budget. They really understand their clients, needs and their budgets.

They were great to work with. They were good with sub-contracting jobs. We had some concerns and they were good in working out something, to resolve the issue. I liked their services a lot and will use the same in future.

We started looking for help to "fix" the worst points of our kitchen. We discovered that by the time we made all our fixes, we were really better off with a more complete remodel! While some other contractors more or less wrote it off as impossible given our original hopes and budget, Steve Lemke was patient as we worked through all these issues, and then worked with us in detail to keep the project affordable for us. We did our own demo of the walls, soffit, and cabinet removal, with some instruction from the Lemkes. We also installed the insulation (which they provided). This saved us in labor costs. Mike Lemke did most of the work in the room, with electric, plumbing being subcontracted out by people they use and trusted. All of our contact with the Lemkes was professional and courteous. They never made us feel like a nuisance as we tried to save a dime wherever we could. In fact, Steve seemed to take it on as a challenge to find a way to make a beautiful kitchen that fit our budget. The work they did was high quality work, done in the time frame we expected, as well as working with us on the timing when we did some of the work. The first big help was in helping us with the design. We ended up removing a north facing window that we rarely even used, that gave us more room and made the layout much more convenient. They helped us find quality cabinets and countertops without having to spend the top price. Our floor was VERY unlevel, sloping to at least 1/2" difference. They did a wonderful job in leveling the floor(because I REALLY wanted ceramic tile and needed a level floor), and then providing custom made thresholds to make a smooth transition into the next room. Mike also made a custom cover for our oddly placed furnace vent when we couldn't find one to fit. He placed new woodwork around our existing window. I did my own painting, and staining of any new woodwork. The cabinets came already finished and complete. I also installed the floor and back splash tile myself, and they waited to do their finishing work until I could get the tile installed and finished. They were always very careful and respectful of our home. I would definitely use them again for another project.

We were very pleased with their services. Everyone involved with my project was pleasant, prompt, and professional. My dining room ceiling looks as good as new and all the other repairs came out beautifully as well.

Our only problem with Lemke and Sons was their pricing. They were much higher for less work then the company we decided to go with. The quality of their work on view at their St. Paul showroom is absolutely excellent. We plan to do some additional remodeling in the future and would like to use Lemke and Sons if we could afford to do so.

The work went well. Lemke and Sons did a good job. They were easy to work with and willing to accommodate letting me do some of the work myself to save money. This job took more than a week to complete, but compared to many other contractors I've dealt with, they were far less intrusive than others. The price seemed a bit high to me, but it probably was in line with the quantity and quality of work I had done.
